We purchased carpet from Empire to be installed in three areas in our home. An average sized bedroom, a small office and a walk in closet. We removed all the furniture from each area including all the built-in shelving in the closet. They installed the carpet and before long, the carpet pulled away from the walls causing huge raised areas throughout. I called to request someone to correct the problem. They did send someone to re-stretch the carpet. The installer commented that no wonder this happened, as the carpet was not "installed correctly." I asked him what we should do if it happened again. He assured me that it would not but if it did, he would come back and fix it again. Well, it happened again in all three areas. The carpet has long bumps in the carpet throughout the rooms and closet. Large enough to literally cause me to trip. I am unable to even vacuum as the vacuum bounces up and down on the lumps. I contacted Empire a couple times, begging them to come and do something about this. They refused, noting that they only have a year warranty. They also accused us as being the problem stating that it was the humidity in our home. We are in our late 60's and have purchased carpet numerous times. The home we bought 8 years ago is 20 years old and not once has the carpet here or anywhere else in the three homes we have owned, had this happen. I am just sick about it and it's only a matter of time before I do fall and hurt myself. Over 10 years ago, our daughter and son - in - law (who was dying of cancer at the age of 26) ordered carpet from them. They did an awful job, chipping and scratching woodwork and walls, breaking a ceiling fixture and even leaving huge ruts in their lawn when they drove their truck over their lawn after a rain. When I asked them to fix the problems, they told me to tell my son-in-law to just buy some dirt, level it out and plant some grass seed in the yard! He had cancer! When we considered putting down carpet again, I really hesitated hiring this company again. When the representative came to the house, I relayed this story. He listened and assured me that Empire was under new management and this behavior was reprehensible! I was dumb enough to believe him. Now here we are again. I am so frustrated as this is not only embarrassing but dangerous.
Desired outcome: Install the carpet correctly. Remove the folds in the carpet so it lays level. I don't think that's asking too much. Thank you so much for your efforts.
