I am writing to raise a complaint regarding an involuntary downgrade experienced by our Directors on EgyptAir flight MS974 from New Delhi (DEL) to Cairo (CAI) on 23 January 2026.
We had confirmed Business Class tickets, as clearly mentioned on the e-tickets and booking confirmation (Booking Reference: BIN-22134648). The passenger details are as follows:
• Mr. Rakesh Goel – E-ticket no. [protected]
• Mr. Anil Kumar Mittal – E-ticket no. [protected]
Despite holding confirmed Business Class tickets, both the Directors were demoted to Economy Class at the airport. This downgrade was done without their consent, without prior notice, and without any satisfactory explanation at the time of departure.
We would like to know:
The exact reason for this involuntary downgrade
Under what policy EgyptAir allows confirmed Business Class passengers to be downgraded
Details of Full refund/compensation applicable for this downgrade, as per EgyptAir policy and international aviation regulations
We request a written explanation and appropriate compensation, including full refund and any additional compensation applicable for the inconvenience, discomfort, and distress caused during a long international flight.
Due to the downgrade and resulting discomfort, our Directors were unable to attend an important business meeting in Egypt, which led to a direct business loss for our organization. This impact should also be taken into consideration while reviewing our case.
