Dollar Rent A Car Booked a car - no car available

Booked a car and prepaid the car with Discover Cars.com. When i went to pickup the car, Dollar Car Rental advised me that they had no cars. I called Discover Cars.com (for over 2 hours) and they told me that they could not help and basically I was on my own. They said that I could book another car (even tho I already paid for a car) and I could file a claim and hope for the best. They told me they have no other cars and no other solution, however on their website, cars are available to be rented. "We cannot help you" I also called Dollar Car Rental and they basically have no customer service, all they can do is assist in new bookings. "You have to call the location sir. We cannot call them" So I call the location (Dollar Fort Lauderdale Airport) and they do not answer the phone, ever. It's been hours I am trying to reach them. Meanwile, I am in a foreign country with my wife and child. Awful experience overall.

This is completely unacceptable: to be a car rental company and to not honour and have a car ready. I understand that mistakes can happen, but be advised Dollar Car Rental has no customer service. Try yourself calling for yourself.

Dollar Rent A Car Dollar Customer Care Case # [protected] VIP CARS Reservation G88985799 // Supplier Reference K2134014862

On the 8th August 2022, I made a reservation with Dollar car rental for mid-size car for pickup on the 21 October 2022 at Phoenix Shy Harbor Airport for return to Las Vagas Downtown.

On collecting the car, the attendant pointed to a car 80 yards away and said, "there it is"; the back window and side mirrors had soap stains on them. I was not given any operating advice. The car had not been checked prior to handover.

On the 24 October, I travelled from Williams AZ to Las Vegas. 11 miles out of Williams I had a massive tire blowout causing the car to career across the road, I was lucky there was not a large truck passing at this time, otherwise I believe my wife and I could have been killed. There were no hazards in the road.

I called AAA and by the time they got there I had already changed the tire. We we told not to complete our journey but to return to Williams on the emergency tire but not to exceed 50 kmh (31mph).

I purchased a new tire. The mechanic note that the tire pressures on the other 3 tires varied by more that 50% and that the tire that burst was probably under 20, the top left was 45.

At the Dollar desk in Las Vegas I advise the lady on the desk of our experience and handed her the invoice for the new tire. She said she would take care of it and that her manager would call me. Of course no call and no apology for the lost 5 hours of my holiday.

I have contacted Dollar who have done nothing and VIP Cars who have no influence to do anything either.

It is now nearly 2 months since the incident. Dollar had a new safe tire on their car.

Desired outcome: Total refund or at least the cost of the new tire which was $136.

i picked up our rental car from the mcaren dollar rental and i decided to pay the extra for the insurance. as we planned to go look at some property in arizona. the car that we were given was not a 4wd and the tires were close to being road illegal i would say

. . but we were on a time schedule and had to be back in Washington state ...we drove it and it was a piece of junk. as soon as we got to Arizona from las Vegas we had to try and contact dollar as we walked out of the motel room to totally flat rear tires. we drove it a blk away and aired up the tires and i called dollar...good luck. i had to leave a message...went to a tire shop but didn't want to spend the $200.+ on new tires for them. left a message and told them couldn't take the chance Thay we miss our flight out. never a call back. so luckily, we got back there safely. when we dropped the car off, we were rushed...told her quickly about the tires. she just looked at us. so, we grabbed our bags and ran. when i got clear to the terminal i went to check my phone for our itinerary...no phone. Probably slide down between the driver's seat and the console...that was 3 days ago...have yet to be able to get ahold of then or find a customer assist that i can speak to in person. unfortunately, i will probably never see my phone again. and ill never use that rental co. again. they could care less about your safety or your comfort...what a real piece of work company!

Dollar Rent A Car Fayetteville Regional Airport counter agent Terrance

I was just denied from picking up my rental car by a gay black male named Terrance at Fayetteville Regional Airport. He made me wait for over 10 minutes while he read something on the computer, then asked me for my licence. soon as he saw my drivers license, he said oh, this aint gone scan. I told him I've had that license for over 10 years, and that it had scanned perfectly fine before. He never even attempted to make it work, he just handed it back and denied renting me the car. I told him I wasn't some kid, that I wasn't a kid, I'm a 52yr old man, and told him he had just made a mistake discriminating against me. He started laughing and making little gay girl sounds with his mouth as I walked off. I turned around and asked him if he had a problem. He started laughing even more and said you have a good day, all the while laughing because he just got away with discriminating against someone who he obviously doesn't like. This is injustice at the highest degree. Gay black men forcing their opinions and beliefs on others who they can sense don't play the same sex game. If that's the kind of customer service dollar is now providing, catering to the LGBT members while they violate any and everybody with traditional values and beliefs, then I don't have a problem taking my business elsewhere. I can't believe this thing can get away with discriminating against people for no reason. Wow. Thanks a lot dollar. This transpired on 11/7/2022 at 11:10p.m.

Dollar Rent A Car Charges for rental service, fees, taxes and insurance waivers

Do not use dollar! Here are the facts why. Just paid for 2 day rental on july 25th for two day rental from phoenix sky harbor airport. I paid $134 for the two days through capital one travel to be paid to hertz, thrifty and dollar. I go monday morning october 24, 2022 to pick my rental up. As I am paying the agent tells me the total rental fees are $229 plus a $200 deposit that will be returned upon return. I ask them what I would be charged and she said some taxes and the insurance waver would make up the rest of the charges and I would receive my deposit 24 to 48 hours after car returned. Well when I brought car back, they charged me the $229 plus the initial fees of $134 for the rental. As all crooked companies do, they referred to their fine print in the contract and had no compassion or concern that I was verbally told what the fees truly were. Who, in any state of a right mind, would pay a total of $363 for two days of a standard mid sized vehicle. They do not hold customers values and believe in customer satisfaction. I told the supervisor and he had no plans to make this right because he, with a language barrier, had no caring for the customer! The customers pay your salaries and your bills! No more for me and I hope others decide to save $ using another company or ride sharing! Never again will I give them a $!

This is a letter to address the service I experienced while renting and returning a vehicle.

I booked a reservation online with Dollar on September 28, 2002 via Rentalcars.com. Itinerary Number [protected]

When we arrived at the airport, we went to the shuttle pick up. After a short wait a very kind man assisted with our luggage and the ride to the rental office. I was that last person in line for the evening and the wait time was about 10 minutes.

When I approached the counter the service agent was polite and walked through the steps. The manager (blonde woman) told her to “put” me in a mustang or Camaro. I told the manager I hadn’t driven either one, asked her which on she recommended, she stated the Camaro, I agreed. After all the paperwork was done, I was instructed to go outside the front door and wait, which I did. There was a silver suburban parked in the front, just running, no one else was there. I watched as gates were being closed and people were getting ready to leave, the Camaro did not arrive at the front door. After 20 minutes, the manager came out and stated that the suburban was my rental, even though my paperwork stated a Camaro. I declined the suburban due to the size and requested a smaller vehicle. The manager stated that there was nothing she could do because the gate was already closed, even though the employee was standing at the gate. I was very frustrated/disappointed with the staff and how this was being handled. After about 10 minutes, the manager went to the back and brought a Dodge Caravan up to the front. The van was dirty, large and rode like a tank. At this point I was tired and still had a 30-minute drive to the place we were staying, so I took the van.

On October 15, 2022, I returned to the rental office at the airport and returned/exchanged the Dodge Caravan for a different vehicle. I pulled up to the return and was approached by a staff member, as I walked away the staff member reclined the front seat and was still there when I came outside after completing the exchange!

Again, I waited in line for 20 minutes. I was informed that I could exchange the Dodge Caravan for a Nissan Murano, which I agreed to. Upon changing over the paperwork, that vehicle was rented! Again frustrated/disappointed with the level of customer service. The agent stated that the vehicle was already rented to another person at the counter and asked if a Nissan Rouge would be ok, I stated yes. She walked me outside pass the cleaning area and showed me the car, I agreed that the vehicle would be fine. We went back in and completed the paperwork. As I waited and watched the staff outside, vacuumed the vehicle and washed the outside, that was it. The tires were in bad shape, almost no tread left and no fluids were checked.

On October 22, 2022, I returned the vehicle and this took 30 minutes. I drove up to the return and was approached by a staff member. I requested a receipt; they stated that I needed the milage before they could give me the receipt. It took 4 staff members to locate the milage on the vehicle, took quite a bit of time. I asked if Dollar offered a military discount. The staff member stated yes and that I would have to go inside and talk to the customer service counter, which I did. Again, a long wait and was informed by the customer service agent that staff on site could not assist me with the discount.

Each time I went there, the lines were long and slow. People waiting outside for the cars to be cleaned and the staff playing and joking around, it was astounding how the staff wouldn’t clean the vehicles until the rental agreement was completed. We stood there watching as people became frustrated, approaching staff as to how much longer the wait would be. There is an outside cleaning area, 3 lines are used at the same time. I (3 times) watched as the cars were returned, drove around to the cleaning area, vacuumed and then washed. No maintenance, neither the tires or fluids (oil, transmission or wiper fluid) checked. I can provide all emails if requested.

I have to say that I rent from your company in Anchorage, Alaska and I have never encountered situations like this. My husband and daughter have witnessed all of these situations also, just to be clear that I’m not the only one.

I paid a $200.00-dollar deposit, which as of today has not been refunded to my card and $532.00 for 9 days. Was unable to get the military discount and I’m extremely frustrated with the whole situation. At this point, I believe a refund/adjustment should be issued.

On Sept 9th 2022, I booked a, Compact, 4 door, hatch back, rental car, on Priceline.com with Dollar Car Rental for Sept. 14th 2022. The cost for the rental was $464.64. When I got to Dollar Car Rental at the airport on Sept. 14th 2022, the Compact, 4 door, hatch back, was not available. I had to upgrade to another car at a cost of $704.97 - $66.56 for prepaid fuel = $638.41. The upgrade cost me $173.77, ($638.41 - $464.64 = $173.77).

I had to pay this extra cost for a car rental that was booked in advance?

Dollar Car Rental could have contacted me by, Text Message, E-mail, or by Phone and I could have made different arrangements or gone to another Car Rental Company.

I should not have to suffer a financial burden because of Dollar Car Rental’s incompetence.

I need to be compensated by Priceline or Dollar Car Rental for this extra cost of $173.77.

On line booking companies and rental companies need to honor their commitments, so their costumers can feel save when they use their services.

Dollar Rent A Car Rental Car - Administrative Fee Scam

On 9/16/22 I received a notice of a toll fee violation of $0.50 with an administrative fee of $15.00 due on 09/23. The violation occurred on 09/02/22 on Riverside Express, Corona, CA 92878 4:22 PM

On 09/20/22 I received a notice of a toll fee violation of $80.60 with an administrative fee of $375.00 due on 09/27. The violation occurred on 09/02/22 in , Irvine, CA 92519 - 4:22PM

In California usually rental cars have a sensor to collect toll costs and a separate bill is sent to the renter to pay or it is added to the final bill. I had no knowledge that a rental company like Dollar/Avis would be behind this kind of unreal mark ups on a toll charge. A reasonable sum or fee, ok, but not literally 100's and 100's% mark-up fee.

No one at the rental counter even mentioned the toll concerns. This just seems like a scam since there are so many toll roads in CA.

Desired outcome: I want the admin fees to be reduced to something reasonable and I want to pay this co. (Dollar) what I really owe and will never use them again until they find a code of conduct and a sense of ethics.

I received a statement from Dollar Rental Car for a toll fee on Hwy 470 in Aurora for 9/26. We had the rental from 9/21 - 9/27 for a trip to Vegas, Anaheim, and home. We were not even in the state on the date of the ticket. We were in Mesquite, Nevada. I don't know where this info came from! When I tried to find the violation on line, it said "no unpaid violation found". Weird, huh? I tried to file a complaint only to hit submit, then it said it did not go through, please try again. I don't know how this could just happen---WE WERE NEVER FURTHER EAST OF GRAND JUNCTION FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK - WE WERE WEST. The toll was $4.00 and change, and the administration fee was $15.00, which will automatically charged to my credit card. What - do they change license plates or document them wrong? Who knows.

Dollar Rent A Car Car not available at site

I went to pick up my rental at the dollar rental site and they didn’t have any cars. I tried calling the number on your site and they told me I couldn’t get a refund. I’m very dissatisfied with your service. It was a inconvenience for me. I had to go to another rental and spend more money for a rental. Also, I hate that you only have an email for communication. I had to google your site to find a number to speak with a live person. I was at the airport stranded with no way to get to my destination and all of the other rentals were closed but one which was Budget and their rates were much higher than yours and the lady that helped me waa rude.

Dollar Rent A Car Being overcharged for petrol use

I was asked to return the car with the same amount of petrol as when we picked it up. You can see from the photos that shows mileage and fuel in tank that is exactly the case. I then have been charged 19.54 dollars which is not correct. Dollar Rent A Car Customer service

Dollar car rental at Midway Airport in Chicago at the pick up counter. First I called and checked more than once to see if I came early if I would perhaps be able to rent the car early. The lady at the checkout would not did not check me in although my rental was for 1 o’clock and I was there at 12:10. Went back up to a second person who was busy talking to a coworker. This person informed me the car wasn’t there and that there were eight people ahead of me and that she couldn’t make a car up here. I as how could there be eight people ahead of me I had a reservation. She said customers bring the car back and if they have to oil changed and all she did was check people in. Well what ended up happening when she actually put me in and looked it up I had a midsize SUV for which they had one there and waiting. Had the first lady at least looked correctly I could’ve had the car. The second person even pointed out to the other lady that she was looking in the wrong place. She proceeded to tell me that she thought I was there to get a car. I replied I didn’t know I had to specify what I was there to get had they checked me in it would have been fine. The people where the car is released were great and very courteous. But the two ladies at the front desk there are horrible unprofessional rude. I told her I had my three-month-old grandchild with me she didn’t care. Had they checked me in at the very beginning I could’ve been out of there instead of having my family including the baby hang around and wait at the airport. If anyone is reading This don’t rent from this car rental car company. You would be better walking .

Dollar Rent A Car Rental Car

Dollar gave me a broken car that broke down 1 day after I rented it. I picked up the car, drove to my destination that was 1 hour away and parked it. During the drive down, I heard a clicking sound but otherwise the car worked fine. After it was parked for 2 days, I tried to start it and the dash board flickered on and off like it was glitching and I couldn't start the car. There were warnings including "brake errors" and "collision system error" flashing on the screen. I had to tow my car out of the area I was in and then order a taxi that ended up being $150. On the phone, the roadside assistance person told me this taxi would be reimbursed because they couldn't order a taxi on their end. I sent them receipts 2 months ago and have not heard from them since.

Desired outcome: Reimbursement of $375.71 for towing and taxi

Dollar Rent A Car Charged fuel refill when I declined option/refilled tank

After declining option for Dollar to refill tank on car return

I declined twice- even mentioned to agent that his quoted $5.25/gallon was higher than $4.89 on GasBuddy in immediate vicinity

He added it to my contract

Because I was very clear about refilling tank on my own

And voiced this twice!

I trusted the agent.

It was wrongfully added to my bill

I submitted receipt with date and address of gas station, about 8 miles from the drop off

I was told-

I “signed the contract”

And was refused reimbursement

Despite my submitting documentation .

Really?!

I will get on every website

Write every person in the company

How can you treat customers this way?!

The agent absolutely is at fault

When he runs thru a list of verbal options

I trust they are being put into contract correctly

Desired outcome: Reimbursement of gas refill charge $88.38

Dollar Rent A Car Dollar Rent a Car egregious admin fee for Tolls

i rented car from 5/5/2022 through 5/14/2022, Dollar Rent a Car charged me for 6 tolls for $16.81 and a crazy $90 dollars for admin fees. a total of $106.81 was charged for tolls on 5/9/2022. These tolls were charged in spite of the fact that I paid cash on every toll. But then they tack on that ridiculous $15 fee per toll and that's not right

Dollar Rent A Car Malfunction feature rental condition Horrible/ reservations was not fixed appropriate.

Hello my name is Tanisha Hall I made reservations for red Mercedes’ on my reservation . And the car received did not Match description of reservations. Not only that they gave me BMW which features in vehicle was not working which inconvenience my time and my business trip which I was total unsatisfied . The vehicle I received license plate is NFLM61 was in total bad condition . An feature where in malfunction , there is lot of problem with this vehicle include the gear stick Donot smoothly it have a difficult put in reserve and drive . The condition of vehicle dirty , when I pick the vehicle I bought condition to agent at dollar car rental total ignore problem . At time I am total dissatisfied i customer which this condition rental car cause me a lot of time delay for my corporate which cause me to loose some business agreement . Dollar Rent A Car Excessive toll fee charges!

On 5/1/22 and 5/2/22 my family and I drove on the beautiful Texas toll roads and were glad to pay the toll fees in cash. When to our dismay we fine no one at any of the cash pay toll booths. I completely understand we must pay the toll fees were accumulated. Yet your company felt the unnecessary need to charge us $135.00 in Admin fees for $14.50 toll fees. This is utterly ridiculous and abusive of power.

Dollar Rent A Car Auto Rental Agent and refusal to rent vehicle to me

April 28, 2022 - Charlotte NC Airport

I reserved my car through Southwest for a trip I was taking to North Carolina. When I got to the the agent to pick up my car, I was asked for the credit card that I reserved my car with. No credit card was given since it was reserved through Southwest Airline as a partner. I gave her the credit card I wanted to use and she tole me that she could not use that card and that I would have to start a new reservation. I asked her to start a new reservation for me and she said that I would need to step aside and do that myself. I stepped aside and reserved a car with a different auto rental company. I have been using Dollar for years and have never had this happen before. I will choose any other company before using Dollar again. This cost me a lot of money.

Dollar Rent A Car Car hire from Malaga airport

On arrival at the Dollar car rental at Malaga airport we were informed the Opel Zaffira car we had ordered through Do you Spain was not available and a T roc was the car we would have. We were told we would not get 4 people and our luggage in the car so advised to upgrade. We would have got 4 people and our luggage in Zaffira. We had to pay for an upgrade which is appalling. The sales person said it was because we went through a broker rather than direct. We have used the broker with many other rental firms and never had a problem. He then tried to sell un insurance even though we said no on many occasions as we already had insurance he kept saying it wasn't good enough, we had to be very firm and say no we don't want insurance. Then he tried to sell roadside assistance again we explained we had the assistant, and he went on saying it wouldn't be good enough if you brake down you would be left on the road side without a car. Overall very disappointed and annoyed with the service and the way we were treated. I would like to make a formal complaint so this doesn't happen to other people. and we are refunded for the extra cost that should never have happened.
