While in the Minier, IL DG (61759) I witnessed the manager, Paula, reprimanding an employee on the sales floor around other customers. It sounded like a matter that should have been private. Treatment of employees by upper management on the sales floor should not be tolerated. Because of this I will now drive 7 minutes to a neighboring DG. This is sad because our little village needs this store. I am a mom with young children still in diapers and pull-ups. Having the DG is convenient.
The employee being avoided was a new hire and freshly back from Basic training. He has/had no prior experience in working at a retail store. I know him to be a hard worker and needs a little extra guidance as he is ADHD.
It seems this has happened before with Paula and another employee who has special needs. It is my opinion, and strongly advised, that she be removed from her role as manager. From what she was saying it sounded like she has very high standards and that the young man was not properly trained, either by herself or other member of management. I would urge she be investigated before this store loses more business and has to shut down. It already has a high turnover ate for employees, more so since she has taken over as manager. This says something about her leadership skills and impossibly high standards.
Desired outcome: Removal of Paula as manager of the store
