DirecTV review: cancellation of service

On July 4th I called to cancell my Diret TV Service due to not being notified in advanced of loosing the FOX network. Since I wanted to watch the final US Soccer games I went and obtained a new service provider who came on the 6th to install their equipment. During my conversation with the Direct TV representative I was informed that since I was paid up for the month I would not receive the packageing to send back the DT boxes until after the 1st of Aug. Again I was paid up to that time is what I was informed.

Now 13 days later I am being charged $189.00 for Direct TV service. I called and was informed that this payment is for the period of July1st through July 31st. Why am I being charged for a service in which I am did not use or am connected to. The TV Boxes were disconnected on the 4th and have been sitting on a couch waiting to be packaged in the shipping boxes which Direct TV has not sent yet.

Clearly my records show that i cancelled my service on the 4th, and again I was informed that I was paid up to the end of July. This being the case I should not have been charged $189.00 on 17 July and if this was a final bill it should have been prorated and the shipping boxes should have been sent the next working day to my address.

Rest assured that I will pass this word out as to how your company does business. Also since cancelling, I can not tell you how many times I have been called to reconsider my cancellation request with offers of reduced pricing. I have been with DT for many years and if this is the way you treat customers, rest assured that I will put the word out. As my current TV provider offers the same channels as DT but for a lower cost and mored dependability or service interruption due to weather conditions.
