bought into direct buy on [protected] tried to get a refund on [protected] would not give it back have not used it. PLEASE help me can not afford this.

    My husband and I were talked into a Direct Buy membership in Long Beach, CA. We were in a hurry the day we went to the open house to try for our $50, 000 make-over and we signed on the dotted line without fully reading the fine print. If we had we would have realized that the young man who gave us our 10 minute tour (we didn't have time for the 45 minute tour and were told 10 minutes was sufficient) lied to us about several of the benefits of Direct Buy: he told us that it was a lifetime membership; he said that we could will the membership to our children; he said that a Direct Buy store was going to be built in Eugene, OR. where we were moving in less than a week; and he told us that we would have a full month to consider whether the membership was right for us and that we could cancel within this month if it wasn't. The sales rep who went through the contract with us left out all the details that would have swayed us away from the sale, plus she knew we were moving on spec of finding new jobs. According to another employee at the Direct Buy with which we dealt, she never should have had us sign the contract knowing this information. Needless to say, we have not been able to pay any of the membership fee and are now facing credit card collection and debt, even though we have never used our membership and have tried repeatedly to cancel the agreement. What do you expect? It's the 99% against the 1%... let us know if you have any success fighting them.
