Target Store / employee treatment

I worked at Target for quite a while. They put on a front that you are working in a happy atmosphere, but it's all a game. The management is the worst iv'e seen by far. They think they are above the employees, and at lunch time they all sit and eat together, getting take-out food Every day while us pee-on's are barely affording to eat our $5.00 meals . Our food is not company paid for, but their's sure is. It is clear why no one speaks to you in the break rooms. Freedom of speech is not allowed at Target even though they don't say that, and anything you do or say get's you a write up, even by being late to lunch. Yes, how Stupid. They are a very biased company. They push us to get credit card sales. The customers are whom I feel the most sorry for at Target. The company does not care about you. Customers are not seen as people, but merely profit, that's why they push cashiers to ask customers for credit cards instead of letting the customer have a more pleasant experience as they are getting their purchases rung thru, we don't even have to say anything else to the customer except try and squeeze every dime out of their pocket. Talk about jobs going overseas? Yes, they even have Target in India, that's where most of the products are made anyway.

I agree that Target mistreats their employees and guest services will spin their store policies to persuade customers to accept it. Unfortunately, this will eventually cost them employees and customers.

I know that Target works some employees 7-9 days with shifts that are only 8 hours apart. This only allows for approximately 5-6 hours in between shifts to sleep. To add insult to injury, Target then awards them one day off after working them this amount of days. They do not provide proper attire (covering of external body parts) for those employees required to work in the freezer (temp of -7 degrees) at 15-20 minute increments. I've even witnessed where two employees were asked to lift merchandise that was clearly marked as 3 team lift due to weight restrictions. Clearly a violation and would result in injury to the employee. I've even heard where employees scheduled for a six hour shift are told to not take their lunch and to make sure they punch out one minute before the 6th hour so that corporate is not aware that supervisors are denying lunch breaks; they've even told employees scheduled for 8 hour shifts that "we don't take 2nd breaks." Isn't that against the labor laws to deny a 2nd break or tell employees it's not Target's policy?

Frankly, Target is becoming another Walmart as it relates to how they treat their employees. I have to laugh when I read their mission and corporate responsibility statements. Health, welfare of their team members...give me a break!

I worked at the marion Il target for many years and have seen and heard things that I couldnt believe we had a preacher that worked there and they would schedule him on sundays and wed. he had to leave. they have there flavors of the month they like to make there life a living #$%^&* to make you quit and if you stand up to them and say hey, this isnt fair your hours get cut our HR brings her child to work like its a daycare center .she was also caught with wine coolers in her office she threatened the team member as for pay you make a little more than min wage and the only way you can move up in that store is if you kiss there butt. they always make you out to be the bad guy they never take blame for anything its a very hostile environment. your expected to do your work and everyone elses and they get all the praise. all marion is ran by is people who were aparently not very popular in there school years and now they have a position of power an they use it to bully the team members. they have one team lead there that is so hateful in the years i was there 6 people quit because of her and one that worked with her she drove to a complete breakdown she and everyone else complaned she never was put on final notice. the hr there doesnt even have her degree! ive helped train 2 teamleads myself but oh well what goes around comes around . God always puts people back into place eventually

I went to Target on my day off to get my pay check. I was informed that my check was mistakenly taken by a co-worker. Target got in touch with the co-worker indetity unknown and took him to return the check. I was told that he already cashed it at the bank. I was told to return in an hour or so because the co-worker told Target management that he would retrieve the check. If the co- worker allegedly took the check by mistake, why did he/she endorse the check and then forge my name on the back. The check is marked and was even possibly cashed. Target attempted to make
light of the situation and I wanted the identity of the employee who forged my name. I wanted him fired to say the least. Target, Human Resources, at the store wanted to have the matter resolved as only a mistake and not the forgery that is was. While I was on the phone with human resources attempting to make my point the HR Manager hung up on me. Now I am the bad guy? Am I going to be fired for speaking my mind while a thief, forger keep his job? If an employee attorney reads this I can be contacted at jrventure@yahoo.com

Actually Amanda its not company money they are eating lunch on. They get paid salary and any company money that is used pops up on a company credit card that is issued to the SM. What does it matter to you what they eat. When i worked at target i was a cart attendant but I never spent $5 per meal lol. Go to the grocery store, buy groceries for $10 and you can eat a whole week. The reason why they push for Credit card solicitation is because its guranteed money for the store. If you have money you can count on then you get more scheduled hours for your store because the income is expected to be higher.

i agree about the management, i work in the target in Raleigh the supercenter, they have just passed a rule that employees have to punch out and in to go to the bathroom. the first bathroom trip on your shift is ok, but after the first one you have to punch in and out, the manager GSTL's, LOD's are rude and far from fast, fun, and friendly. we have no black team leaders, Gstl's, or LOD's, morale is terrible and they get away with it. they are the worst employers

^ So get into the habit of going on scheduled breaks. If it wasn't being abused they wouldn't have had to change the policy.

i don't think it is being abused by all, there are people with health issues that require freguent bathroom visits, diabetics, high blood pressure, people with medical letters from doctors on file as well. seems to me if you know who is abusing it, then they should be dealt with, with a large store is can not be that many to force this on everyone

If health issues get in the way of your job then look for another job.
