We purchased a straight talk phone from wal-mart for our teenage son. The packaging leads you to believe that you get a free phone card with your purchase & when you realize that you do not & contact their customer service dept., noone speaks english. The reps are like robots & no matter what question you ask, the rep gives you the same freakin' answer. We called several times over several days before finally deciding to return the phone. Straight talk sucks!!!

I am a very happy customer with Straight Talk. I have had plans with Sprint and AT & T and have relatives and friends who have been with T Mobile-believe you me, compare them to Straight Talk and you will be pleased with what you get. None of those offer unlimited talk, text and internet for $45.00 month. People who have been with T Mobile complain that they have drastic trouble with their phones and customer service and they still charge and don't really give you a break on being inoperable.

Personally speaking, I have never had trouble in speaking and understanding the Customer Service representative anytime that I called. Nor have I ran into the 'routine reply" mentioned in the above remarks.

As I've said, I'm a very satisfied customer and I have no complaints.

My mom switched to Straighttalk because my grandmother did. She told me I could have unlimited everything. She bought her own phone for them and activated it with their phone number. She decided she didn't want it and since she was switching me from Verizon she sent me the phone. It was one of the better ones on straight talk and pretty pricey. I called to switch my phone number over and got a representative that was horrible with English. The person above saying that not being able to speak english and having an accent are different i correct. However she must not really be trying to talk to anyone at Straighttalk or she would know that that is exactly the point. The woman I spoke to had almost no accent but still CAN'T UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. If you ask her a question that detours from her robotic script she gets confused and repeats herself. I stayed on the phone for well over an hour just to swtich my phone number. I was asked to repeat all of my info over and over again. By the end of the phone call I had a splitting headache but was happy because they switched the number quickly. Then I dropped the phone from my bed lightly-something I've done numerous times with my other cells & ipod touch and it broke in front. The phone is very basic & easily broken esp considering it was on of the most expensive ones.

Then I finally ran out of call minutes early so I looked for a way to put more on. Surprise surprise the website is crap. There was a place to login but no where to signup. Usually if you put your phone number on a wireless website it will let you make an account. NOT STRAIGHTTALK. I tried forever to find a way to put my information in or refill my minutes. Finally I gave up and tried to call them. That's when I got another surprise-there customer service only works regular business hours. As if people don't have issues with their phones all times of day.

So I waited until the next day and called them (after 9am). I think the girl I was talking to was the same one I had before. She was just as robotic this time, and once again I stayed on the phone about 45 minutes just trying to get more minutes or switch plans. When I was almost at the point of having the minutes put on my phone she asked me to hold while she got a supervisor. After about 10 minutes she came back to say that they could not refill my phone at that time because of some technical problem and I would have to call back in 24 hours.

Unfortunately I work weird hours and have a hard time taking out the two hours I know I'm going to need to talk to them. So today I'm still without a way for people to call me. I wouldn't recommend giving people who are this incompetent your credit card info. If there was a real problem there's no telling how long you would be on the phone or if it would get fixed.

I would only recommend Straighttalk if you are really REALLY hurting for money. If not shell out a couple extra bucks for quality & competent customer service.

I too suffered the same as the others above. I could not get my phone activated because The persons I spoke to spoke very poor English and I was unable to activate my phone... that is until i called the Corp. office and yes they speak English very well. I understood them and they understood me... so i am on my way to an activated phone from Straight Talk. Yippee!!

My number has been switched 4 times without warning and without my permission. Upon calling CS, the robotic agent tells me my old number is no longer available on their network and there is no way to retrieve it. Awesome!!! Nothing like telling all of your contacts that you have a new number every month. I'm on my way to get a new provider.

The customer service is bad but what do you expect for $30 or $45? The two times I've called, my hold time was 15 minutes each.

Here is an entertaining story about my experience with their 800 number customer service.

According to Samsung's website the R810C is capable of 3G service. My simple question was if straight talk will support the 3G network, since they sell the phone. I heard rumors that it can with the R810C since it runs from Verizon towers, but without proof.

After stating my name, phone number and question three times, she kept asking me "So you want to transfer your number to this phone."

I explained to her in multiple different ways, that I only want information about the phone and their service.

Another 5 minutes went by with her saying "Thank you for hold, I am getting the information" and "I am still waiting for the information" and "I am still updating the system on this information." When she got done saying those things, she gave me the obvious answer of "It does mobile web, so you can check your email."

Then I said "Ok...but does it go at 3G speeds?"

I was put on hold while she talked to a supervisor. However, once again, she gave me more obvious answers about the specs of the phone. I told her that I knew what the phone is capable of.

"Does straight talk block the 3G capabilities or will it allow it???" I asked

"It has a micro SD capablity for your MP3 and Photos up to 16gb" she stated

Now I am getting a bit annoyed and I ask one last time.

"Do you know what 3G is? I don't care what the phone can do, I want to know if your system, your network, your coverage will accept 3G service."

"One moment..." on hold again. "No we don't have the 3G"

I really don't think they knew the term 3G. I am glad I had time to kill because it took 40 minutes to get the answer, but I figured it was worth the entertainment.

I cannot stand STRAIGHTTALK. What a bunch of idiots. I wish they would just charge a little more for their services in order to pay customer service reps who speak english and live in the United States. WTF!? Don't bother trying to open an account online to buy your phone cards and change your features. It doesn't exist! It says, 'Accounts setup is under construction right now.' It has been saying the same thing for as long as I have had my phone, since they first started selling the damn things.

You get what you pay for with these guys. If all this heartache and frustration is worth saving a buck or two, this carrier is right for you. Otherwise, switch carriers and bite the bullet of paying more. Sheeeeesh!

We bought a straight talk phone because of the fact it is part of trac phone co. At our house after all the hassle of getting it set up and every thing, all it shows is no service. NO SERVICE. Our other trac phones have service, so what is up with this one.

straight talk sucks. We have nothing but problems, month after month. & we are forced to deal with the customer service idiots. Right now, we still have no internet service, for the 2nd month in a row. They are now saying we have to mail them the defective phone, & they'll send us another one. yeah right. & lose the days-weeks off of our plan, while the swap is going through.. ummm hmmm. Now for you brown-nosing, nitwits defending this company...explain to me how paying for a phone & time, (that you can't use & lose), is such a good deal. They have crappy merchandise, crappy service, but are just too small, to admit it. They stick it to of all of the uneducated, hillbilly, redneck, wmart clientele, & then laugh all the way to the bank. & yes, that incldes my dumb butt. Just remember, when something looks too good to be true, you can bet your sweet hiney it is. so, walSUCKS can take their straight talks, & shove 'em, where the sun don't shine.

Phone worked fine for 2 weeks then suddenly "No Service" message appeared. Spent 45 minutes on house phone with "tech support" - what a joke. At long last after going multiple steps he now has the nerve to tell me he will "have to forward the problem to another dept cause he can't solve it " after spending 45 minutes talking and then referring to his "supervisor sitting right here beside me" - wouldn't you think the supervisor could solve the problem. Oh, no...only the department that's not staffed on the weekends can solve the problem because they "have the tools to take care of it". Your Case # xxxxxxx. What lousy freakin service. Went to SCC to file a complaint & apparently can't do that cause it's cell service. I'm going back to a regular cell company, may have to pay more but at least you get service 24/7.

Bunch of idiots, you know what?, those people that you call [censor] or brain dead are smarter than you, you look like an idiot trying to figure out how to use a [censor]ing phone that is in front of you, the person that is on the other line does not have the phone, has not even seen it, and knows how to use it, and is the one that tells you how to press a [censor]ing key to go to the menu of the freaking cellphone that is extremely complicated to you, because your dead brain is not able to get anything even when you do have a [censor]ing manual, waf, you will need to learn how to use a phone before complaining on something, jaja, you make laugh, ridiculous.

straight talk has the worst customer service

I called 1-800-876-5753, THANK YOU for posting it. They took care of my issue but a little too late.

Unfortunately my anger led me to destroying the phone, I have anger issues, I know but most people I know agree. My anger issues are brought on by blatant stupidity and disrespect which brings me to my next subject ...

I QUOTE : "Straight talk is great! you all are a bunch of stupid americans that arent greatful for anyhting! maybe if you have complaints dont buy it go get a contract that is gonna cost you more than double for everything they are giving!"

Half-price for no service is still no service.

Also, why don't you go stick your head in a Snow-Cone machine and freeze the other half of your brain? It's evident the half you're using is either broken, or maybe has a tumor from all of your Straight-Talk cell phone usage.

Straight Talk Phones - customer service
straight talk customer service
North Carolina
United States

The last time I tried to add time to my phone they put my time onto the wrong phone number. I was on the phone for over an hour trying to fix that problem and had to talk to 4 different people because no one knew what they were doing. Then after I got that situation resolved, I woke up the next morning and my phone was not working. I then contacted straight talk customer service again. I had already talked to 3 different people when finally a lady said she could help me out and fix the problem because the guy before her had got the phone working again but I had a different phone number. This lady said she get my my old phone number back and I have been on hold now for over 30 minutes and the phone call has lasted so far for 1 hour and 35 minutes and I am still on hold. Obviously no one knows how to do their job so I dont know when my phone call will be answered!!!

i had a straight talk phone and it was great for a while until one day i woke up and my phone was not working. It had never been dropped or anything like that. When i called customer service the man did not speak really good english and he really couldn't help me with my problem. He was trying to contact his supervisor so he could know what he should do and he was having trouble contacting the supervisor. All I was given as a reason to why my phone was not working is the wires that my phone was conected to were not working. I pretty much just gave up on straight talk because customer service sucked and they don't seem to know what they are doing. Wasted my money on a phone and the plan card that i never got to use for a whole month before my phone stopped working.

Typically when you have problems with a cell phone you call customer service from a different phone. It is not uncommon to remove a battery in order to remedy a problem. As for porting your number if the line your porting to is active with its own number it can be complicated verses porting your number to a phone with a new activation.

I just bought a straight talk phone, had it activated online and have had no problem at all. I purchased it at walmart and they told me if I had
any problem with it just keep the sales slip and bring it back.so far so good!
