It must be a hoax since I don't even own a Sony Ericsson and don't even remember taking part in any lucky draw etc.

Plus the contact email gives everything away: contact@uksonyericsson.co.uk

There shouldn't be a uk in front of sonyericsson and it would end with .com and not .co

Someone or some people are desperately in need of money to send international sms - es all over the world...
instead of being annoyed about the fake sms, i pity them.. LOL
they even had a spelling error on the sms, they should really watch out for their punctuation, grammar and spelling.. hahahaha
i mean they should at least mind the writing.. if SONY ERICSSON was really holding a promotion, they wouldn't make such stupid errors.. :)

i received an sms today stating that i am the winner of 250000 pounds from sony ericsson, london and upon mailing them i was asked to send them my confirmation details. i doubted if the whole thing was a hoax and decided to google the topic and came across this website where i found so many similar issues. now i really think the whole thing is a hoax and i think sony ericsson should take action against these fraudsters as people are taken in by the company name 'sony ericsson' and seeing that this has been going on for nearly an year, its high time they did something

Hi all! i too received such a good to be true msg! at first I was bit optimistic as they have given somewhat like a sensible email add but still little skeptic about it as it was sent in a recession time in the UK (Feb 17, 2009) and sony ericsson is also affected in the global economic meltdown.
So i suggest this simple to do things, first is to Google it to get the pulse, that's why i happened to see this site and also post this msg. Then check the site like in my case they mentioned claim@uksonyericsson.com which suggest their site name as www.uksonyericsson.com as the usual scenario when dealing with email adds like personame@gmail.com so there should be www.gmail.com. And viola "Network error (dns_unresolved_hostname)" is the msg - so it's FAKE/HOAX!

Sony Ericsson has send me back a mail regarding this as too be an hoax! So you shouldn't be sanding anything of your personal varification!

The only thing is that I don't get it where did the get my cell number and how do they know I have bought a Sony Ericsson?
