I also received a lot of text message that i won a huge amount of money. But, need
to deposit or pay some money for me to be able to get my winnings. I IGNORE them.
Why should i pay for my winnings? All promos as i understand are all tax free.
And why will i be a winner if i'm not joining any promos?
But, here is one good news. I already won a Sony PS4 last May 2010 in one of their promos.
And take note - i never paid any single cent to get my prize.

how will somebody won a prize if he/she did not joined any promos? common sense!
why will somebody have to pay for something just to claim his/her winnings?
all winnings or promo prize - all are tax free!

Im from Trinidad WI and got SMS on the 30th March 2011 stating that I won 615000 pounds from the Sony Ericsson Award Promotion. I replied with and email and got a confirmation from Dr. Kristian Tear. I was required to submit a copy of my passport and some other personal information. This I did. I was issued a validation number and a deed of Guarantee from Crown Chambers (Barrister Sebastian Reid). I have now been requested to obtain a prize authorization letter from the London Ministry of Finance (Contact -Mrs. Fiona Yvonne Taylor +[protected]). The cost of this letter is 410 Pounds. Can someone please tell me if this thing is actually real and if I should continue to pursue this.

i got the same message too from +[protected]. I am in Barbados. When I called to inquire the gentleman who was clearly not british, was rude when I mentioned that I thought it was a hoax. He claimed that it was all legitimate and the people on the internet were just saying it was fake because they did not win the money. he said his name was Kristian Tear and the lady was Yvonne Taylor. Now reading these comments I am sure that it is a SCAM... so everyone beware and don't be fooled . If I wasn't such a sceptic I would have been sucked in too. I just wonder what happens to those gullible people who may be so desperate for money that they follow through with it. Do they actually ask you for money to send the cheque? WOW... the nerve. What is the real sony ericsson doing about this. That is what I want to know?

yes don't believe the message, I have got an exactly the same sms as upstairs. From a UK number which is +[protected]. the original message as below:
(REF NO SW2E)
YOUR CELL NO. HAS WON £500, 000 POUNDS IN THE ONGOING SONYERICSSON MOBILE PROMO AWARDEDS. FOR CLAIMS SEND EMAIL TO: sonyericsson-inc@europe.com
except of the wrong spelling of the 'awards' to an 'awardeds'
the other one is, how does the different awards gets the same reference number?
so it's totally FAKE...

It looks like the hoaxers are still trying it on. I received a text which runs like this, 'REF No SW2E Your cell no. has won £500, 000 pounds in the ongoing soneyericsson mobile promo awardeds. for claims send email to: sonyericsson-inc@europe.com'
The misspelling of the word awards was the first thing I notice, and got me to look up the hoax on the Internet.

"Sony Ericsson Promo '"surfaces its ugly head again, in 2011. I just got a sms message in "Trinidad - West Indies" advising of my winning number and asking for info. Be mindful, read the forms carefully they are riddled with spelling and gramatical errors, a large company with a bonafied promo would never print documents with errors. Check the telephone directory for the correct Sony Ericsson number, is it the same?

We received an sms on our Nokia in New Zealand with an almost exact letter via email dated 7th November 2010 as that shown above except that ours had slightly different 'phone numbers and a photograph of Kristian Tear the Executive Vice President Head of Sales and Marketing attached. A little 'Googling' and we find that this is a real person holding this position at Sony!. Quite a sophisitcated scam isn't it?. If it were not for the fact that some of the grammar is a bit skewed and the email had all the hallmarks of i.d. theft and/or a fraud of some sort we might have fallen for it too. The majority of people need money. This scam plays to their desperation. [censor]!.

hello, i must say that i too recieved a sms text message from sony ericsson stating that i won 250, 000.00 pounds! they stated that i should email sonyericsson01@live.com for claims, the telephone # given is +[protected], i live in the island of trinidad and tobago, and my cell phone is a samsung, how they got my number, i really don't know, all i would like to know is ... IS THIS FOR REAL?

The first question to ask yourself is "How did they get my mobile number?" The second question should be "Why do I have to pay a transfer fee if I won all that money?"...Why can't they deduct the transfer fee from the winning amount?" It would be really nice if I had actually won the 500, 000 pounds they said I did. Look at the example of lottery companies, national or international...if you won the lottery, any fees that would be incurred from you winning that money is automatically deducted, before you take home your winnings. In the same vein, why would a a multi-conglomerate company internationally known, making billions of dollars, pounds, or any other currency you can think of in profit every year, need to get 1650, or 1450 or whatever amount they are asking you for in order to pay out your winnings? Did you fill out a form when you bought the phone for some kind of promotional game...NO.! Think about it, even if its something simple as a raffle, or some charitable event that you went to that has a door prize, you would have entered by either filling out a form or including your name on a form, or if its a ticket you bought, when you enter the event, they would give you back the stub, so that if your number does call, you have some kind of reference to prove that you entered the promotional game in the first place. Come on people wake up, this is too good to be true with no participation whatsoever except purchasing a phone...with a receipt that you probably threw away already.

In my case I'm absolutely convinced that its a fraud with a capital FRAUD! Why you might ask? Firstly my brother bought my phone from some guy who had several (possibly hot) phones he was trying to sell. Secondly, that was over 4 years ago. I didn't even use it while I was in the UK because I had to get it unlocked. The phone was sooo new that most of the stores I went to didn't have the software as yet to unlock it. So I didn't actually get to use my phone until almost 6 months after I bought it, and by then I was in another country using a completely differnt area code number. So what utter BS is sony ericsson or whoever these people are pretending to be, to tell me that I won 500, 000 pounds in some international promotion! Another good point to note would be that before I got this phone I had an older sony ericsson phone, which I did use in the UK. Now if I won the money from that phone number that is no longer active, it would mean that they would have gone back at least 7 years in order to pull my phone number in their drawing...again this is utter BS. People this is a FRAUD, do not send any money to them. If sony ericsson hasn't confirmed or denied this claim, then its because they didn't send it in the first place.
