They have no clue what they are doing when it comes to filing an amendment. My husband and I filed our taxes in feb. And it is now may and we have yet to recieve our return. They have our return tied up with the irs because they have no clue what they are doing when it comes to amendments! I have tried multiple times to contact them about this issue, I have left messages and never heard back from them. We received a letter from the irs requesting more info so they could fix the problem that liberty tax had created. I called liberty on may 6, 2009 and requested this info. I was told the papers would be mailed that day. It should have taken only 1-2 days tops for the paper work to arrrive so, I called on may 11th to find out if the paper work was mailed and I got a recording saying that the # has been disconnected. It has been 2 wks. And still no info from liberty. Like I said before liberty tax service in clendenin west virginia 15 main st. Phone # [protected] has no clue what they are doing, they will tell you what you should do... You do it... Then when things go wrong they say they are doing everything they can to help you (whatever) when really their not... The only thing they care about is getting paid after they get theirs they could careless about the customer!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I worked at a liberty tax last tax season, and I have to agree with this posting. There was not enough training for the preparers, and we were never trained on filing amendments. My office repeatedly messed up on amended returns. Sometimes we messed up on returns, thus requiring amended returns to be filed, which we then messed up on again. I'm not sure if all liberty tax franchises are that bad, but I certainly never would go back. Especially with the insane rates they charge!
One thing to be aware of with amendments is that the IRS will not even LOOK at an amendment that is filed until after the regular tax filing deadline has passed on April 15th. After that, it's first-come-first-serve, and amendments cannot be e-filed, so if a lot of other people filed amendments before you, they may not even know that you filed an amendment until June.
