Lexmark X7350 All-In-One / Poor quality, lack of customer service, unfair business practices, consumer fraud

I purchased a lexmark all - in - one printer/fax/scanner/ copier from the local Sam's club as a birthday present for my wife.

It would not print in black from the first day I bought it.We tried for 1 1/2 years to have lexmark help us there were 67 documented calls to them mostly to their tech people. they gave us many different things to try to do to get it operating properly. nothing helped.

We threatened legal action and were give what was supposed to be the legal departments phone number. We called the number only to find out it was the phone number of another customer that had been going through the same types of things as we !!!

After this We demanded that they replace the machine. We were told that the warranty for this had expired after 1 year. I threatened legal action as we had given them the opportunity to help and fix the problem since day one and they could and did not.

They reluctantly agreed to a replacement and informed us to expect it within 5 - 7 business days. On the 5th business day when it did not show up We called. We were told that the order for replacement was cancelled. They could not tell us who or why and told us they would re - order and ship.

We received the replacement and it worked for a few days.Soon it did not print right. We made more calls and were told that we were probably out of ink. We demanded that they send us more after they explained that they sold inf cartridges that were partically filled. When questioned how the consumers were supposed to know this since the packaging did not refer to it, they said the packaging did and after they researched it they would get back to us.

The printer now started to self - destruct. it would not print at all - it was with us now for less than 1 week !!!

My wife got on the online tech site and chatted with 4 different tech people for over 4 hours. the end result was she was told that the printer would cost more to repair than for us to purchase a new one and they proceeded to tell her about a few site that we could purchase one at a reduced price. My wife explained that we had not had the printer for 1 week yet and they all chat help stopped !!

Lexmark has not done anything to try to fix the situation except offer us a refund of the cost of the printer only after we sign a release. The release contains many illegal provisions in it. The Better Business Bureau in Kentucky got a copy and were amazed at what it contained. They then said due to this release and what it contained that they would mark the complaint we made with them as not being satisfactorily settled.

    Lexmark sent me the wrong cartridge then wanted me to pay the shipping to send it back because I'd opened it. I emailed them, because it's hard to find a phone number for a "higher up", and explained everything to them, but all they did was keep sending me the same old form email without ever really acknowledging or solving my problem. These people are the worst. Lexmark does not give a hoot about its customers and I would never do business with them again if they were the only printer manufacturers in the world. IBM makes Lexmark.
