Fifth Third Bank / 53.com cashing check drawn on fifth third bank

Yesterday July 31st I visited the 5th/3rd Bank located inside a Kroger Store. 291 N Hubbards Lane, Louisville KY 40207. I had a payroll check drawn on said bank. I do not have an account with 5th/3rd Bank. I was charged $4 and said I could set up a profile to not be charged. This is the first time that I have had a charge from a check that the check was drawn on a specific bank. Other banks do not charge to cash checks drawn on them. I have even cashed checks that are two party checks at the appropriate bank. In addition, I am very disappointed with the customer service at 5th/3rd Bank.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com customer service and communications

For starters, I still have access to someone else's account! I have asked to be taken off as a signer for over 3 years, so when I went to enroll my CC for online banking, I was immediately given full access to this persons account with almost $40, 000. I then started to use my CC for cash and purchases and got an email confirmation of suspicious activity. I confirmed this was me. Yesterday I received a letter from 5/3 stating my account had been suspended. I called, waited in the que, prompted the system for a call back and then the csr promptly asked "how can I make your day 5/3
better?" I explained my scenario, and was transferred to "on hold land". So again explained and the CSR said there was no hold...30 minutes wasted. I asked for a supervisor and Juanita - the rudest person in the world, snotty and short assisted me. I said I wasted 30 minutes with them and I want compensated or made happy. "we don't do that! was the response. I said I wanted someone else, she said we are the ones that work for this person and do not transfer calls. I asked for my balance and advised I was closing the account due to bad service every time I have any interaction...this is not the first time I have dealt with them. I had State Savings and never had issues. 5/3 bought them out and nothing but headaches, mixed up accounts and issues. I still have access to this persons account and have told every person I have interacted with ...they just look at me like I am crazy...you would think if I had been accidently given access to someone else's $40, 000.00 they would have some sort of a pulse and take action...I think they need to have a huge government audit of their practices as I would never feel secure to have any monies in their system. The made my life 5/3 worse. I am advising everyone at my company (42, 000 +) and all my friends and fb friends to pull their business interested from this company...

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com credit card

Fifth Third Bank offered me a balance transfer offer that included a "special" 3% balance transfer fee (many credit card companies offer 0% balance transfer fees) and 0%, 12 month APR. I was given checks to use to take advantage of the balance transfer offer. The checks expired May 25, 2017. I issued a check to another creditor to resolve a balance before the check expiration date. Fifth Third Bank claims the check was processed by the other creditor after May 25, 2017. They did not offer me the balance transfer offer and ultimately charged me their standard 4% balance transfer fee ($180) and standard 19% interest charges on the balance transferred to my account, resulting in $257.99 in interest. I have a credit score of over 750 and could've paid off my entire balance at a slight inconvenience. I wouldn't have taken their offer if the marketing was clear and I knew they would make every attempt to postpone the processing of their balance transfer offer check.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com customer service - super rude

I'll make this brief: Called Customer Service (Paige in Cincinnati) to get an issue resolved. Tried my best to explain the need - had to interject several times to clarify my questions/needs and was instead told I was "continuing to interrupt her" and so I was made to feel that I was at fault somehow. Super rude for a Customer Service rep. Bottom line the issue was resolved but I was left with bad feelings about Fifth Third. And based on the large number of complaints I found for 'Poor Customer Service', it looks like a significant problem area for Fifth Third!

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com highway robbery overdraft fees

I need to know why your company thinks it makes sense to charge me a pending over draft fee. You already charged me the over draft fee, fine I get that. But if I over drafted I clearly do not have any money! Why do you charge me more and more and put me further into debt if you want me to get back into a positive balance on my account? How can you people do that? I clearly didn't have the money in the first place and an automatic payment got taken out and I understand that's my
Responsibility to make sure I have enough in my account but when I don't I don't! The $37 was fine but sure charge $74 and make my account farther into the negatives so that I can struggle even more to pay you back! That makes so much sense. Thank you for being a terrible money grubbing capitalistic corporation. I will be closing my account with you because I think that's absolutely insane that you will keep charging me while i'm waiting to get paid so I can pay the original money that got taken out and the first overdraft fee. Thank you for sucking.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com unethical behavior

To Whom It May Concern,

I would like to give an overview of my experience on May 31, 2017.

My husband and I drove through the drive-thru of the DeVeaux Fifth Third Bank to deposit a Cashier's check that was under $2500.00. Jenna was the teller taking care of my transaction. We couldn't clearly hear what she was saying over the intercom, but we heard her say that I would have to come inside. That wasn't pleasing to me, because I had been working in my yard and my appearance was not appropriate, which is why I used the drive-tru.

I went inside and went to Jenna's window. She said she couldn't find the name or address on the check, which at that time I told her the name. I couldn't see her screen, so I have no idea what she was looking at, but she said she couldn't find it. Then in a not so professional tone, she asked me what the check was, who it was from and where it was from. I repeated the name again to her, then I asked her how long was this gonna take, because I had to pick my daughter up? She said she had to verify the check, because of the amount and it would probably be 15 minutes. She then said to me in an even more unprofessional tone, with attitude that I have never experienced in the 14 years that I've banked with 5/3...that I could take the check back and come back when I have time. I told her that I wanted the check deposited that day, but I wasn't aware that I would have to go through this just to deposit a check. I asked her didn't checks clear overnight and she said no, she verifies all checks. I then asked her if she was telling me that every check that's deposited, she calls and verifies them and she said yes. I use to work for a bank and I know times have changed, but I still thought checks cleared overnight.
She said she couldn't find a number for the company, so I pulled out my cell phone, looked up the company, got the number and gave it to her. She verified the check, the amount, my name and the person she talked to whose name was Brittany. That took all of 3 or 4 minutes. She asked if I needed anything else, a balance... I answered no and she finally gave me my receipt. All the time that I'm standing there looking at her, I was never asked for any ID and I say that because, I had only been coming to the bank twice a month for the past 14 years until recently, so no one knows me the way that one would know a weekly customer. So why was it necessary for me to come inside and just stand there? I helped her do her job, which she says she does with every check, but for some reason she couldn't look up the name of the company and find the phone number to do her verification. I could've given her the same information through the drive-thru...there was no one else waiting in the drive-tru.

After I left, I was definitely not happy with her service. I called 5/3 customer service to verify the protocol of depositing a Cashier's check in the drive- thru and what I was told did not correspond with the service/treatment that I had just received. I hung up the phone with more information about 5/3 policies than I had known before I called and the gentleman was extremely nice. I told him about my experience at the end of our conversation as to not have it influence what I was asking him.
I don't know if that day just wasn't her day, but she came off as if she owned that bank and that she didn't need me as a customer.

Maybe further customer relation training is in order for her. I could see a situation like mine with her, escalating rather rapidly by someone with a different temperament than mine.
I would hope that this type of behavior would be deemed inexcusable by Mr. Carmichael, to any customers, but especially long time loyal customers.

Thank you for your time.
Enjoy your day!

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com customer service

I contacted my Fifth Third customer service and spoke with a woman named "Majda". I cannot put into words how rude this woman was. My husband and I live 2 hours away from the closest Fifth Third bank and yet we have kept our account open because we usually have good customer service and it is easy to pay my bills through our Fifth Third account. We close on a house tomorrow and needed help getting access to our money so we would not have to drive 2 hours. Majda was very rude and kept interrupting me when I was asking for some information and was negative. Every word she said was "NO, You cannot do that, " so I replied to her "well I guess since I cannot do anything, then I will just switch banks, " and she replied with "OK" and hung up the phone on me. So needless to say, I will be closing my accounts with Fifth Third! Very disappointed.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com metal detectors

Hello, I am writing about the Fifth Third Bank located on 1606 E. 79th St. Chicago, IL. 60649. I entered the bank on 5-23-17 at approximately 5:10 pm. As I entered the back an alarm went off, I was instructed my a security guard to step back, empty my pockets of loose change, keys, and cell phones. After I did as I was instructed to do, I was allowed to enter the bank. Then I proceeded to stand in line for a 15 minute wait, when there were two tellers working at their work stations and they didn't have any customers standing in front to them. Why is it in an African American community there are metal detectors in a Fifth Third Bank. When go to any other Fifth Third bank location in other neighborhoods there are no metal detectors and you are not made to feel you are at the airport going to visit someone in prison. Also the quality of customer service could use improvement.

There are metal detectors in locations that are high-risk for theft.

It's only in your head that your equate the presence of metal detectors with racism. Unless you also think all blacks are bank robbers?

You're racist.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com fifth third bank

Hello Sir/Ma'am,

I am actually writing on behalf of my aunt who made a transfer from Norway on the 4th of April, 2017 to a beneficiaries account whom is an account holder in your financial institution(Fifth third bank). The said beneficiary told my aunt the transfer hit his account on the 12th of April, 2017 but it has been placed under restriction and that i would take up to 45 days for the restriction to be lifted, I find the claim rather strange because i find it hard to believe. My aunt is scared she might have lost her money. Whoever answers back should please affirm whether or not what the beneficiary seems to be saying is true in every sense of the word.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com service at 5/3 bank on marco island

The service at 5/3 Bank on Marco Island is horrible. For some reason all of the regular tellers are gone and this has effected the service. You stand in long lines and wait forever at the drive in window. In our office we all hate to take the deposit to the bank because we know that it will take an hour and you end up with nothing but frustration. When you ask about it you are told that everyone is out to lunch. I don't think so when it is around 3:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon. Two tellers for both the walk-in and drive through. Not enough! Something has happened and you need to take charge and get that location staffed. I bet that if the executives from 5/3 went there it would be changed real fast!

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com checking

On March 17, 2017 I deposited $1000.00 into my personal checking account., [protected]. On March 20, 20147 I wrote 2 checks on that account, one for $250.00 and one for $200.00. On March 21, 2017, I logged in to see that they returned both of those checks and left my deposit still pending!
This bank continues to use these predatory practices to charge money for fees that should never have been incurred.
They will now charge me a minimum of $74.00 because of this.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com predatory fees and deposit blocks on business checking

I have been dealing with this banks overdraft fees for a long time. I have both personal and business checking with them as well as a mortgage. They consistently work up the debits BEFORE the credits, thereby creating overdrafts and they then take their overdraft fees BEFORE posting deposits. If I may a deposit on one day, they will place that on hold for 2 or 3 days and then charge overdraft fees on everything that may come in for payment in those days.
Now they have found another way to take these fees. I use mobile deposits because I am in WV and there is no branch around. So, at 2 in the morning on 2/27/2017 I see an overdraft that resulted when an automatic charitable donation came through early. When I immediately went in to make a mobile deposit I got the message that it was not available for my business account, even though I have been doing this for months. I found someone near a branch to take a deposit in for me to clear everything. Now I am told that my mobile deposit has been blocked for 30 days because of the overdraft. So, I have to take care of my business but cannot make deposits? If I have any thing come through I am again going to be overdrawn which mean they continue to rack up more and more fees at $37.00 each because I am unable to make a deposit. Plus I cannot deposit checks I get from clients because they won't unblock my deposit ability.
They will shuffle all deposits and debits in order to cause overdrafts and the outrageous charges.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com making money for extended hold on checks

The FDIC act for holding certain deposits (check to checking, image to checking) for a period of time was created to protect customers and the institution from fraud.

Banks like Fifth/Third are using this as an excuse to place holds on deposits using all of the legally permitted time-frame, often times deposits clear faster when there's no weekends in between. None-the-less this bank FIFTH-THIRTD holds funds using the complete timeframe, by doing this, they can accrue interest on money they don't have to pay for DAYS!

Is this LEGAL, Yes. Is it FAIR ... NO! No way a Company mistreats its customers and get repeat business.

I just cancelled my FIFTH-THIRD Checking and Savings.

Do that to a lender, and they'll gladly present you a large interest bill at the end of the cycle.

FIFTH-THIRD will never aspire to become a large organization if continues hurting its OWN SOURCE of BUSINESS!

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com new here:)

I've been trying to get a home refinance done. I started in October of last year. I'm now on my third person and still not even close to being done. It's impossible to get ahold of them. I've left messages. Each time I get someone new they want more paperwork, I understand that paperwork is needed, but, with the third person you would think they would have what they needed. I feel as if I would be asking for a larger amount I would be treated differently. I had a close friend recommend this bank because they got it done promptly. The only difference he was asking for more money.

Horrible bank! Do not bank here under any circumstances! Better to have a prepaid account. Serve with Amex is best.
I made a $10.87 payroll check deposit, the AtM ..Stopped working in mode of transaction. ATM machine is attached to bank, the bank would not open the AtM and get check had to do a 20 day claim over a $10.87 check! I decided to close my account and have the bank send it to me.
I left my ATM card in the AtM to long at Bank of America, the branch opened the AtM and got it. I used to work at Wells Fargo, the AtM machine is counted every night. And every bank can open the ATM.
They will not give you your account number or routing number online or on phone u have to go into branch! This is a Rinky dinky Mickey mouse brank!

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com customer service

The lady I spoke with, Edna I believe was her name was extremely rude to me over the phone. I had called about a fee on my account that she explained I'd be charged for once a year. First, I was never told I'd be charged. Second, the way she went about explaining the "benefits" for the fee was all wrong. I could barely understand her through her accent and she hung up on me before I could ask her to elaborate about anything. I was left with little to no explanation and with a bad taste in my mouth about 5/3 and their customer service employees. I am very disappointed with this experience and am contemplating moving to a different bank.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com customer service

As a business owner, I tried to deposit checks of over $2000 in the ATM at the Smyrna Tennessee branch. The ATM jammed up and would not deposit or return my checks. I went inside the bank, and asked for help. The attendant explained to me that there was nothing they could do, and that I would have to wait until the machine is serviced. I was not given a time or date.
While trying to get more information from the attendant, Mr. Glen Shaw came out of his office, to ask me what the problem was. After explaining my plight, he told me that he had no idea when the ATM will be serviced. When I told him I needed some type of estimate, he told me that if I did not like how they did their business, I should find somewhere to bank.

Just like instore ATMS, the bank probably does not service or have access to the ATM. An outside service does. If you use the bank for deposits, then why not use the cell deposit instead. The app that lets you take a picture of the check? At least then you do not have to wait when there is a problem.

Still, I am all for the face to face interaction when doing business. I never understood why people depend on machines then complain when a HUMAN can not help them.

Fifth Third Bank / 53.com didn't do what we requested per our account

My daughter recently moved to Thailand to teach. We went together to the branch office and told them she'd be gone at least a year. We also added me to the account.
One week into her stay she couldn't use her debit card - was told it was on hold due to "suspicious" activity. That activity was her trying to use her card.
I called, I went to the bank 3 times before it was resolved (and I'm not sure it is as we have a time difference and I can't check on it with her right now). They wouldn't let me 'override' - even tho I'm on the account - they had to speak with her! She tried the 3 phone numbers they gave me - none of them worked for her altho the rep told me they were international numbers.
Can you imagine your child overseas with no money?! Especially after you'd done 'the right thing' prior to her leaving. They are the bank! this is their job!

Today I went in and loudly demanded this get resolved right now. Finally I believe it is. The arrogant manager then tried to give me a lecture on dealing with people - I said "no, obviously I had to get angry to get this resolved, I've already spent quite a bit of 'calm' time both here and on the phone with 5/3 and nothing got done".
I had another problem with them last year - it took 5 trips to the branch for them to figure out why my debit card wouldn't work in their deposit machine.
Leaving them for Chase.
