Dollar General consumer threatened

My Mother-in-law ( Faye) and I (Mindy) went to the Dollar General to get a few last items we forgot in our shopping. As we went to check out. Faye was going to pay first. She handed a $100 bill to pay because that is all she had on her. The cashier looked at the dollar bill and just kept looking for a long time and could not look at us in the face and said" This is a fake bill...It does not have a line through it or a face" and Faye ( nicley) said" well it better not be because it is an old dollar"..." she did not even look at the date or dollar again and said that she would have to keep the bill and she can not give it back to her..Faye said "why can 't I have it back"...and she said she will have to call police and it was policy...so we said that we will wait for the police and ask them . Well as she was calling the police she told us "whether you talk to the police or not, you will NOT GET IT BACK". She was so rude and could not look at us. We then found out she was the " Store Manager"... I did not appreciate her mean and threatening words when the police have not come to verify it yet...my mother in law was livid and really upset. When the cop came, he looked at the bill and told the store manager ( name Sherrie) that it is okay because being that the bill is older, m it will not mark with the pens because it is an older dollar...so he said it is our dollar and we could have it back...she was kinda rude to the cop too and I told the cop myself that i understand the policy deal but her attitude did not have to be that way and could of been handled differently. She still after all of that could not even apologize to Faye and she went to the back of the store...talk about customer service..how do people get away with treating customers this way and still have a job?

WE WILL NEVER BE BACK IN THAT STORE AGAIN AND WE WILL TELL ALL OF OUR FRIENDS HOW WE WERE TREATED IN THAT STORE AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT WE SEE!

I am sorry you were treated with such disregard. I work at Dollar General in MS and I would never treat a consumer with such disrepect. I am only a cashier but feel the urge to apologize for poor management skills in your store area.
I feel companies should look into complaints such as this and make the employee go through a trainging course if nothing else... to be a better service to the community that pays for the checks we receive each week.
Once again maam I am very sorry you were treated like this.

Dollar General not being treated fairly

I am a associate at dollar general we had recieved a new store manager and she treats us like crap. She had told a perspecting employee that she was going to come to our store and clean house. well on her first day she said my deposit was wrong would not let me recount it. and then i had to a statemant with the dm he made me rewrite the statemant because it had her name on it. and then she told another manager to be mean to a associate so they would quit. and she is trying to get her old assistant manager over but he can not come over till there is a opening and we had never had money problems till she came.

Dollar General worked through my lunch with no pay

Where I work the management robb people of their hours. I was not given a lunch break and I have my slip to prove that I worked 8 hours and 15 minutes straight. On that same day my manager fixed my time on the computer to show that I did clock out for a lunch. I called the # on the slip to only wait and find out that they really don't do anything. I am now calling another # hoping that someone can do something before they try to get rid of me. They jump on other tills and people come out short at the end of the day. They get items at red cart prices for them and their families. They get away with a lot and people like us just end up quitting or getting fired when we make our complaints. Headquarters need to make a lot of changes in the system. We are not robbing the stores, the customers are not robbing the stores, it's Dollar General's own Management that is robbing the stores in a slick kind of way. "O" and I do work to the best of my abilities, I am on time, I do not call in, I do not drink, I do not smoke, I am a hard worker that deserves better. I am complaining about store #7425 in San Antonio, Texas. Managements are Veronica T. and Mario H. ...

After three weeks I'm out after having the exact same problems at my store. The job is nothing like the ridiculous films you're forced to watch on your first day. On top of missing a few of my breaks and lunches, sweeping and mopping (when only two people close like you and your manager, and they sit behind a comfy desk while you bust your booty!). I was also snapped at like a child (once in front of customers) and had as many as 7 or 8 customers in line waiting to be checked out because this same manager was too busy stocking shelves to open up his register. My Manager was also using my register when I did go on break one day instead of using his. So much to document so little time. In any case, HE is still there with a nice cushy job while I go looking for another. Thought I was going to get some support from my Assistant Manager but as of now I've heard nothing. It's an absolute shame what some people are capable of getting away with.

Dollar General hiring practices

Why is the manager of store number 07395 being allowed to hire her own sister to work in the same store in clear violation of company policy . The store management has been damaging products and putting them on half price racks to buy them later every since I started working there in Feb. of last year. I think that is what was behind my getting fired .I told people what was going on. That and the fact that I pointed out the fact that the assistant manager was stealing the lit. fund money and she got fired. The manager didn't like that at all.The rest You will find out when my lawyer brings suit against Dollar General.

Carole, that was REAL smart pointing out the theft by management TO management and NOT expecting some sort of reprisal.

And, elpasotexastejano is absolutely correct...if you have money to hire an attorney to take on a corporation, what the hell are you doing working for "Dollar General" in the first place?

If you're going to bluff, you have to make sure it's a believable bluff. Yours isn't.

If you ever have a thought or a brain cell that lives, you might actually make something of yourself. But then again...I doubt it.

Who care about dollar general, if you had $5000 to hire a lawyer in the first place you wouldn’t be working for a dollar store making minimum wage. Leave the Dammm place before you get old and trapped there like your managers did.

Dollar General wrongful termination/discrimnation

I worked for the doolar general 6 mth n for the first couple of months I workd at the onein arlington tx off randoll mill n I got moved to the one in pantego, when I started working there my life became a living hell. The manager (Teresa) for one fired me while I was on my maternity leave for no reason at all, in fact she wouldnt even give me one in I thought it was wrong because she had a girl who was the same race as her which is white working for her n she used to leave the job in the middle of her shift without even telling anybody. And she has also stoling from the job she would come in out of dress code and teresa never fired her! The only reason why she actually let her go was because the dm told her she had to! Teresa has fire a girl of my race for going to chruch on a sunday, when I was 7mth pregnant she made me work almost 2 wks without any days off which caused me to start having labor pains while I was at the register. And she wouldnt let me go sit doen or anything unless I was lookin like I was bout to pass out! There was a time when I was at the register and I started to get really hot and dizzy and I was bout to pass out and she didnt say anything the customers had to lether know and to let me take a break, the customer was even nice enough to buy me somthing to eat and drink! Teresa wouldnt even let me go home and my asst manager shamica can tell u everything im tellin you. There was time when teresa called to the job drunk and was talking bout me to shamica, she said teresa told her she told aother manager at a diffrent store "yea, I got a pregnant girl working at my store and I make her mop and everything" I felt that was very disrespectful toward me! And she already have a other employee who works there who is going to file a lawsuit against her beacause teresa gave away her hours! And this is my first step to get rid of her from being a manager anywhere esle... And if nothing will be done about this I will be taking legal action! And if u need proof of the discrimination I have witnesses

Yeah, there's this little thing called the "Family and Medical Leave Act" which says a company cannot fire you for going out on maternity leave. Granted, there's paper work to be filed and such, but if all that was done (and they have to do it, they cannot refuse to do this) then you get your job back after six weeks.

Dollar General - tired manager

I am at the point that I hate my job and I am certain most managers would agree. We suffer from the trickle down syndrome everyday, the people above us can not possibly make up their minds, not that would be too easy to do. I would like to know who comes up with some of these new "policies". Is it someone at corporate, divisional, regional, dm, or who??? I...

Dollar General brian darling

My name is kourtni brown and I was recently fired from dollar general in cedar rapids, IA .My hours were cut down to 11 hours a week before I was fired and my boss acted like he was trying to push me out anyways. He knew what hours I could work and continued to schedule me for hours that I couldnt. He knew I couldnt and thats why he wrote me up.I was working morning from 9:00 to 5:00 during the week and went to 4:00 to 8:30.There are many times that I have worked and not gotten payed for it because he would tell me how he was over in hours and that he would have to cheat again I have expressed myself many times about my hours and time again he said he would look at the schedule and find out, but he always pushed the issue that everything was right. And there was no point in turning it in because he would just adjust the hours like he always does the schedule.NOBODY in the store should have access to anyones hours like that. All he has to do is go into the computer and change the hours so he doesnt get in trouble. He always said the computer was write but how can it be when he can change anything he wants.I cant believe he hasnt been fired yet.I worked there since march of 2008 and he is not fit in anyway to be a manager exspecaily when he is telling his keyholders that they need to be ### to people to be in this kind of work. The girl that put here 2 weeks in around the time that I had started told me he was like this but I guess I and to judge him for myself .But she was wright.

I wish everyone could quit working for Dollar General. My advice is: Don't work there! And even if you don't work for them, DON'T shop there. It is appalling the way they treat their employees. Don't shop there until they start treating their managers right. Any employee who feels they have been treated unfairly by their manager should know it could possibly be from the stress he is under. The ones to blame are Corporate officers. The demands they place on their managers are IMPOSSIBLE to meet. I date a manager and he doesn't sleep at night and is getting an ulcer. The store he took over was a disaster and he cleaned it up and sales have doubled. I should mention that it's a crappy old building the company rents and is way too small for the amount of business it does. Corporate expects to be able to walk in there at any moment and see EVERYTHING pulled forward like no one has shopped it, and no dirt on the floor, ever! The store has no control over customers tracking dirt in after a snow or rain has fallen. They do clean it up as soon as they can. But if the district manager would walk in right after a customer had tracked in the dirt, the manager would be in trouble. They don't have enough help because they aren't allowed any more. They are so busy taking care of inconsiderate customers they can't be two places at once. My boyfriend works 60 to 70 hours a week and is on salary. That figures out to be about $5.90 an hour he's making. I wish everyone would write the company and tell them they are not shopping there anymore until they start treating their managers right. God I wish we could get the word out to everyone about this. If everyone knew how this company operated, and how terrible they are to their managers, I do believe people would boycott it.

Let us know what happens. I too go to work on time and don't call in. I work to the best of my abilities. My manager did not give me a lunch break. I worked 8hours and 15 minutes straight, I have my slip to prove it and the manager fixed it on the computer to show that I had clocked out for a lunch. I made a complaint to the number on the slip to only wait and find out they do nothing I have now called another number for help because I now will have problems with management because of my complaints. They also get red cart prices for themselves. Many other things but I hope there will be a stop the this in every store. I am in San Antonio, Texas and starting to feel hopeless the more I read these complaints...("O" and to "concerned party" I bet you don't work at dollar general or if you do you are part of the ones to blame for our issues. Post your comment on another posting, we don't care for your mindless opinions.)

Though unhappy employees quit or lead themselves to termination, they have no right to manipulate incidences in a store to examplify the manager of that specific store in a negative manner. M any of these employees have acted in a way that reflects them personally as irresponsible and have given plenty of reason for the authority in the store to react in the way that they see fit. By being late or choosing to work slower than usual are wonderful examples of this. For an employee to comment negatively on the management of a store publically without taking into consideration their own actions only shows immaturity. One is curious as to how this person will handle a more diffucult job, or how a career will ever be built with this attitude.

Dollar General Amout in sealed can

I bought a 13 ounce can of Clover Valley Ground Roast Coffee today for$2.50, it was sealed, but only 1/3 full. That is not "settling". I would appreciate it if the company would make good on this. I have shopped at this store for years, but recently have been dissapointed in the quality and/or amount of product. Bonnie

Dollar General rudeness and lack of respect

Hello,
I was an employee at one of your stores in VA. BCH. VA. I worked for your company 3 different times. The first time, I was a manager at store # 6362. During this time there was no store manager and everything was a mess. The company kept sending in a different store manager every week. As you know, each manager does things differently. So, that wiped out everything that I did to help run the store. All the employees quit and I couldn't handle it all by myself, so I left too for there was just too much stress. The 2nd time I worked there I was throwing freight and keeping the shelves stocked and helping with the cashier when needed. I asked Janet Fleming that if I quit, could I get my job back? She told me that if I gave a 2 weeks notice that I could come back to work there because I don't have a car and this store is only a block away and I can get back and forth to work easily. No one told me that your company has a leave of absence policy, otherwise I would have taken that choice because my mother had a total knee replacement and I had to care for her until she fully recovered. She couldn't drive so I had to drive her back and forth to the doctor and to her physical treatments. Well, after she recovered I went back to Janet Flemings store #6362 and asked her for my job back but at that time she didn't have any hours that she could give me, so I told her that when she got the hours to hire someone, to give me a call and she took my phone # and said ok. So I figured that she would call me when she had an opening. Well, to my surprise she called me and told me to fill out an application online so I did. We waited for the paperwork to come back and then she called me and told me that I needed to come in and take a test, I did that and I passed it. She said that she would call me when the next schedule was made. Well, she called me and told me to come to the store so I did. At the store she told me that I would start in about 2 days or so, that is when she told me that I would have to travel with a team going from store to store to help organize their store the proper way. My so called team was Janet Jordan and Kalie. So here I was with no car and no way to get to any other stores. Janet Fleming knew that I had no car because I always rode my bike back and forth to work. So, I had to beg and plead for someone to take me back and forth to work, but then no one would do it anymore. Well, all the first 3 days that I did work, Jim(the district manager) would come to the store where my team was working and he would take Janet Jordan and Kalie around the store to talk to them about our schedules and our work that needed to be done. Jim never included me in any of the conversations he had with my team. He never brought his map book of plan a grams with him to make sure that everything was where it was suppose to be. Janet Jordan and Kalie would work together with each other but I always worked alone. I don't call that a team. One day the manager of the store at Timber lake shopping center lost her new plan a gram book, so Janet Jordan and Kalie to continue working because they had to go to the Pleasant Valley store to get the new plan a gram map. " Come on now, how many people does it take to go get a map book?" This store at Timber Lake shopping center was 3 months behind on her plan a grams. So, the manager came up to me and asked me what days I could work so she could put me on her schedule. I was told that I was going back to store # 6362 on the following Monday because that is where I applied and I could get to work no matter what. I told Sandy that I couldn't work there next week because I didn't have a car and the people that brought me to work those 3 days didn't want to help me anymore. Sandy replied, " you don't want to work with me?" I told her that was not it, I just don't have a way back and forth that far away from my home. Then she just walked away and went to her office. So, I waited a few minutes and went to her office to explain to her my situation about not having a car to get back and forth to work. So, she called Jim ( The district manager) she put him on speaker phone so I could talk to him too, but when he started talking about that he didn't need me at Janet Flemings store and that he needed me at the Timber Lake store, Sandy (the manager of the Timber Lake store) Sandy picked up the phone so I couldn't talk to Jim and explain my situation. So, I was just standing there "feeling like an idiot" I always like to joke around and I even joked with Jim all the time when I seen him. So before I walked out of Sandys office, I made a joke to tell Jim that I needed to borrow his car. I guess that he took it seriously and I went outside to take a break to try to calm down because by this time I was in tears. Well, Janet Jordan and Kalie were out there too, smoking a cigarette. Well, I saw Jim pull up in the parking lot and get out of his car, I turned around and looked at Janet and Kalie and told them, " here comes Jim." they jumped up and Janet replied something and they ran inside the store. Jim came up to me and shoved a set of keys in my face and I said, " whats this?" He said, " I heard a remark about my car." Then he asked me what was I told when Janet Fleming hired me? I told him that nothing was mentioned about having to travel from store to store. He then said that he told Janet to hire someone who could travel with this team. But I was told that if I could get through the 3 days at Timber Lake that I would be put back at store# 6362. Jim said, " that is all I need to know." and he went in the store. So, I went in the store to try to talk to him but he wouldn't talk to me. I said Jim, and he kept his back to me, so I said Jim again and still he wouldn't turn around to talk to me when I said Jim for the third time and he didn't answer me, I just left because he said earlier that the company didn't need me if I was not able to travel with this team, so I left. I had no other option than to leave since he wouldn't talk to me. So, on Sunday I called Janet Fleming to see what was going on. She said to let her call Janet Jordan and she would call me back. Well, when Janet Fleming called me back she told me to call Janet Jordan. I told her that I didn't have Janet Jordans number, so she gave me her number. So, I called Janet Jordan and she said for me to call Sandy at the Timber Lake store, so I then called Sandy and she said that she would call Janet Fleming or Jim and she would call me back, but she never did. So now I needed to call Jim and see what was going on but no one would give me his number, so I figured that I had to wait for Janet Fleming to get some hours before I could go to work. So the following week, I decided to go down to Janets store and ask her when she would get some hours so I could go back to work. She told me that I had to talk to Jim first. I told her that I didn't have Jims phone number and she finally gave it to me. When I got home I called Jim and he was very rude and nasty to me! He said that he asked everyone if they had heard from me since Friday and they told him no, that they haven't heard anything. I told Jim that was a lie because I called Janet Fleming, Janet Jordan, and Sandy. He said well, nobody has heard from me and since no one heard from me that I didn't want the job anyway. That's when I told him that I tried to talk to him at the store and he wouldn't talk to me. And I told him that it was wrong for him to come up to me and shove keys in my face! He said that never happened and that Janet Jordan and Kalie would back him up on that. I told him, " yeah I'm sure they would" But they were not even out there because they jumped up as you was walking in the parking lot towards me and they ran inside. I then told him that I bet that the camera facing the door would prove that they ran inside and was not outside where we were at. Then he changed and said, " well if you get a car then give me a call" and he hung up on me. Now I was told by Janet Fleming that I couldn't be rehired anymore. That's not fair, I always work hard and I was promised that I could have my job back after my mom got better! First of all they never should have made Jim a district manager because he don't know how to do things properly! They should have left John as the district manager in our district. Second, I feel that I should have gotten my job back at store # 6362 as promised. I should not be on a list of people that can't be rehired by your company! I feel that I was done wrong and I didn't do anything wrong, they are the ones that messed things up for me because Janet Fleming knew that I had no car because when I worked for her before, I always rode my bicycle to work. And when I filled out my application it was for store #6362 because I have no transportation and the manager knew that too. And even when I was working with this "so called team" I was never included in any of the teams and Jims conversations, but my other 2 team members were. Everyone had lack of communication ! I work hard and I take pride in what I do because I feel like a failure if something is done wrong. I loved working for your company here close to my home but everyone has lack of communication. If I knew that I would have to travel, I would have never filled out an application. Since Janet Fleming said that if I gave my 2 weeks notice, that I could come back I figured that I would be right there in the store where I used to work which is close to my home. I'm not stupid to take a job that I can't get back and forth to. I think that Janet Fleming, Janet Jordan, Jim, and I should have a meeting about this because there were too many lies told. And that left me out of everything! All I want is to prove that I did nothing wrong and I deserve my job back! I would like this situation handled even if the Corporation wants to come to store # 6362 and meet with Janet Fleming, Janet Jordan, Jim (DM), and myself. I don't think that a district manager should act like this, he is childish, rude, and he doesn't do his job right either. Otherwise he would carry his plan a gram map with him and see the workers are filling up empty holes with products that don't belong there. That empty space is for other products that are coming in and if the space is filled with the wrong item the stock person won't know where to put the freight away. Well, I guess that is it for now. at least the most important stuff but I do know a lot more that should be reported. Please consider me to be taken off the list of people that can not be hired by your company. I didn't do anything wrong and I deserve my job back. I was lied to about things and it is hard to deal with when everyone believes their lives. I have worked hard for this company so, I think that I deserve to have my job back! I just hope that your company won't believe their lies, that is why I suggested having a meeting with all of us there at store #6362. Thank you for your time and I'm sorry to have bothered you. Managers and DM persons are human, too. They want workers who are willing and able to make sacrafices for the "team" their team, their goals, their bottom line. In the whole scheme of things this article makes it clear to me that they needed a boldy to help build out the store. You were the warm body. They used a bargaining chip and you took the bait.

In the future don't leave the premises, stay and finish your day. That shows better character on your part.

DMs come and go but good, hard, freindly, and pleasant workers are rare.
As for your two other comrades, take solilce in knowing they can only get so far with being cutesey.

Dollar General - downsizing product / same price

I shop consistantly at Dollar General in Maumelle Arkansas. Was extrememly dissappointed to see the change in the Clover valley Coffee Creamer. Not only did you change the appearance, but you took out 5.5 ounces and still charge the Same Price! I go to Dollar General expecting a good product for a good price, I could easily go down the road to Kroger or...

Dollar General return refused for faulty items

I bought 3 Playstation 2 games (for $10 each) at my local Dollar General store. None of the games would play at all on my system, which in excellent condition and works great with all the other games I have.
I tried to return the games for a refund, with the receipt, but was refused. They just said "too bad, no returns".
My entire family has stopped buying anything at this chain, due to TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and JUNK ITEMS!

I am not saying the treatment you received is right by any means, but company policy does state "all electronics (dvds, CDs ect.) will be returned for exact title only. Thats company policy, not the cashiers.

Dollar General cheating hours

My Fiance has come home complaining about her manager just about everyday about her changing the work schedule, texting her at times telling her she is supposed to be in working and that she is late. Lyn (my fiance) writes down her schedule when she gets it. Her hours are scratched out and new ones on top

she was told when hired thats he should throw out the receipts she gets when she clocks in and out. She noticed her hours are short so she started saving her receipts. Now she notices that her start time has been changing when she clocks out. She mentioned it to her assisted manager and the assisted manager went to the back and fixed it. How can that happen unless someone did it. we still have not checked previous days, but will tonight when she gets home

First of all, it's "Assistant, " not "assisted." (Where you came up with that gem, God only knows) Secondly, places like "Dollar General" frequently make adjustments on the fly out of necessity...that's why it's Lyn's JOB to check her schedule for the next shift as she clocks out each time. Third, there's no union, so they can do whatever they want.

Dollar General mis priced item/refusal to refund

On Wednesday Nov.26, 2008 I purchased several items at Dollar General Store on E Highland Blvd. in Inverness, FL. (Store # 01392) I noticed the price that was marked on the shelf for child cough and runny nose medicine was $2 ea. and I purchased 2 of those items which is all that was left on the shelf at the time. Once I got home with my purchases I decided to check my cash register receipt as I normally do due to finding errors 75% of the time regardless of the retailer. These errors are never in my favor (imagine that) mere coincidence, not a chance as this has been the norm for as long as I can recall, which is years. I noticed that the two items were on my receipt for $2.25 each. Since I live about 6 miles from the store I decided to wait and take the receipt back the next time I was in the area of the store since making a special trip back at the time would cost more in gasoline than the amount I was due as a refund. The next time I was in the area of the store was on Friday Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving, only 2 days after my purchase. I showed the error to the girl working there and she even verified the mistake by checking the price tag on the shelf. She told me that since she was not the store manager she would be unable to refund my overcharged amount and questioned why I would wait 2 days to come back to the store. I explained that I didn't notice the error until I was home and I sure wasn't driving 12 miles round trip to get a 50 cent refund since It would take about $2 in gas to make the trip just for a 50 cent refund. She said she could call the manager at home and see what she said and so I ask her to please do that. She made the call and I was standing beside her when she explained the problem to the manager over the phone. When she finished the call she told me that she would be unable to do my refund unless I were to bring the actual items back to the store for scanning. I could not believe such a comment since I had the actual receipt in my hand and the items were scanned at the time of purchase and marked accordingly on the paper receipt. Also I could not believe they would ask me to make yet another trip to the store at a cost far greater than the amount due me. I asked when the manager would be in and if she would write down the store phone number and the manager's name so I could give her a call when she was in, which would be tomorrow (Sat. Nov 29). When I returned home I was furious and I tried to find a way to contact the corporate headquarters to no avail. Granted my overcharge total amount was only 50 cents but that's still my money and I am getting sick and tired of retailers ripping me off for 5o cents here and 50 cents there and I am only 1 person. I can imagine how many people are being ripped off unknowingly simply because they fail to check their cash register receipts. Dollar General needs to hire people with a better attitude and perhaps a little higher IQ as those people are total idiots!

Let me claify something about DG employees! We're not stupid and we're not idiots! Yes, it's frustrating when the shelf price and the actual price that rings up on the receipt is different and hear this: THE DG EMPLOYEES DO NOT HAVE CONTROL OVER THE PRICES! I work for DG and of course, it's frustrating for us because the system knows way before they send us the price changes! The reason the cashier needed you to bring back the purchase to the store is because it has to be scanned back into the system plus we're not authorized to perform ANY price overrides . Yes, we get tired of prices going up, but that's the way the economy is right now! Like I said earlier, we don't have any control over the price increases! Sorry you had trouble, but it happens everywhere else! Have a good day!

Dollar General poor service/cart useage

11/12/08 around 10:50am
I shop a lot Dollar General store. The cashiers take thier time in checking you out, etc. Knowing the line is long.
One customer yelled out to the two female cashiers (Betty and the other one with short blondish hair about 5'4" or5'5") are you going to open another cashier register.
One of tghe cashier quote no I ain't going to open another register.
The same customer said she is being smart. Then she ask for the corprate phone number. One of the cashiers (quote) I ain't going to open another register.
When I got to the cashier I asked Betty if someone would help me take my bags out.
Cashier Betty (quote) I have to see if she is busy. (the blondish cashier), Betty said pull your car in front of the store(which was a fire lane).
As I was going in the store I notice two Clearwater Police parked in the parking lot also a Pepsi truck with the # F34095 driven by a female driver was already in the fire lane.
I said you need to help people with disabilities/American Disabilities Act.
The same customer said it Freedom of speach.I respond, that is the first Amendment, we have rights to (the white house).
I said I'm not going to pull in a fire lane and get a ticket, there was two police out in the parking lot. The blondish cashier (quote) you need to tell them that."not to park in the fire lane".
I ask for the corporate phone number.
As the blondish cashier help me take my items out, she (quote) we helped you.
I said all you had to do was help from the beginning, this would not had happen.
The blondish cashier said you need to go back inside, I will give you the number.
Which she went in the back and came out with the number and said I have already call them, they should be waiting on your call. She stated I will have you band from the store.
Corporate phone number she gave me was [protected]. Two other customers and I exchanged the Corporate phone number.
Because the carts have plastic pole about 10' that want let the carts go outside the store, a person like me who is disable can't take a lot of bags out to the car without a carts. this were the American Disabilities Act come in.This has happen several times before.
The manager or Corporate need to be held accountable for not abiding by the ADA, etc.

I'm the third key at the union Mississippi store and no they can't sell them to you at a penny. The manager of the store should've received an email or some store mail regarding this. When items are pennied out they're suppose to damage then out and take them off the shelf. Its a dumb rule but there is nothing we can do about it loss prevention uses this rule from giving employees an unfair advantage in buying things.

Went to DG here in Dayton, Tx. Bought 2 shirts and a 4 pc set of kitchen seat pads, well when cashier rang the seat pads they rang up at $.01. the cashier told me I could not buy the seay pads because they rang up at a penny. I told her, well, they rang up at a penny. So I give her a penny. She said we can't do that, we can not sale them if they ring up at a penny, I even offered to pay at the 40% off, that I thought I was going to get. Well, to end this, I did not get the seat pads, but if they rang up at a penny, weren't they suppose to sale them to me for a penny?

I used to work in another dollar store and the problem with people spraying the cans to see which scent they like is that it causes a serious headache from all the different scents. If you spray three, and another person sprays three, and another person sprays two and so on and so forth, that's one heck of a headache. Yes, it sucks but employees have to look out for every customer.

I shop at the Dollar General on Hwy 78 in Jasper, AL at least 2 times a week. Today, I was checking on some bathroom freshners and softly touched the spray nozzle on a couple of cans to determine which fragrance I wanted. One of the managers who was around the corner aisle told me to "stop it - don't do that in here." I asked, "How do I know which one I want if I can't test it?" I did not know there are prohibitions from testing a product.
I did not like her attitude. And I don't particularly
like the smell of the one I purchased - due to the
intimidation, I just got it and left. She may have been
having a bad day - but she could have used a little
more 'tact' in addressing the concern.

Dollar General customers/former employees

Not that I don't agree with some of you, but alot of you are complaining about things that are your fault, like handing a cashier your key, you should know not to do that, it's just common sense, they don't have a key for a reason. Or putting a check for over 300 dollars in as cash. And customers complaining about being told the stopre closes in 3 minutes...it's your fault for waiting until 8:57 to go the store. And by the way, someone posted a complaint that a girl was using your number for price scans and you're short when you work with her...she shouldn't know your number, and it's not her fault that your drawer is short because price scans do nothing to the balance in your drawer, if your drawer is short, either it's your fault, or when your were on your break, she ran on your drawer, which shouldn't be permitted by management, so she be getting in trouble for this, not you.

Hi I just quit dollar general today actually. I agree with everything that was said. My manager is horrible. I worked at the dollar general on lakeshore in Euclid Ohio. I was coughing a lot at work and when I finally got a day off to go to the doctors (she wouldn't let me take off) They told me that I had strep throat and bronchitis. They gave me a note that said that I must be off for at least two days because I would still be contagious. My manager flipped out and was very disrespectful to me. She is one of those managers that are paid on salary so she doesn't come into work often. She throws all of her work onto us and the assistant manager who by the way is 8 months pregnant and was just hospitalized for being overworked and had to come back to work before the doctor said it was okay.
The only time Yvette (the store manager) ever pulls long hours is when the main manager is coming in for a visit. Four employees quit on her in the same week and she got 12 customer complaints on her in the month of may alone, those don't even include complaints made on the store or other employees those are just the complaints on her. She should be fired! Once you treat your employees like crap for so long, eventually they will all quit on you.

What if the manager is the one running on your number? They know all of the cashiers numbers and can do whatever they want when you're not there. I know they're not supposed to do that but they do it anyway because they are too lazy to count an extra drawer.

As for the customers I do agree with that.
Dear people please don't come into the store 3 minutes before close wanting to do your shopping for a week. After we finally lock the store doors there is still a lot that needs to be done.
Dollar General customers did you know that if we clock out at 9:37pm we only get paid until 9:30pm? Only seven minutes you say? True but multiply those seven minutes by 2, 3, 4 times a week and after a couple of month it's quite a lot. And if we do stay long enough to get our minutes round up to 9:45pm we get in trouble with the bosses. The more they keep our pay down the more their bonus checks grow and that starts with the store manager on up.

In Ohio an EBT card is issued by the state to help parents to by groceries/food items. The parents name is on the card as a child cannot get one, Therefore the parent must be present to use it in all actuality a child is not even allowed to put in the pin only the person whose name is on the card can. However sorry for any inconvienence this may have caused you, but the cashier was in the right not allowed a child to use an EBT card.

Is an EBT card like a debit/credit card. If he was using that I can undersand why they would not let him use the purchase. Like Jason said, how are they to know the card is not stolen. If they refused to sell him something with cash I could understand your complaint. He goes to the store two or three times a week, but with cash. Just because someone goes to a shop often does not mean they are honest.
