BookIt.com terrible service

Bookit.com is terrible. I tried booking my honeymoon with these people and when I tried to cancel my trip because I was going to go through Sandals directly, they said they were going to hit me with a bunch of fees. The customer service is basically non-existent. On their website it says that there is no cancellation fee, so I booked through sandals directly (it was $300 cheaper). I ended up having two flights. I explained my problem to bookit.com and the customer service rep was exteremely rude. After explaining my situation he said they were going to hit me with a fee if I cancelled or did anything with my reservation and I should have known better when I reserved my booking. He then hung up on me. Not only had I been sitting on the phone for an hour, but he said nothing to try to help me out in my situation. I subsequently called Sandals and they said they had not processed my flight yet and they cancelled my booking at my request. They were very helpful and I am glad I booked with them. I just wish I hadn't booke through bookit.com. Dealing with them is not worth a little savings (and in this case, they were more expensive!)

To comment on Bookit.com:

After looking through this forum there are a few people with issues from this company and most of the responses I see are from people that are Bookit.com employees advising it is not the companies fault and using the same "You did not read the terms and conditions" line.

Bottom line- Bookit.com may be cheap but there is a reason why, you get what you pay for and I personally can get just as good of a deal on a suite in a resort by calling them myself then I don't have a middle man to deal with. Bear in mind from my other research into this company (they have some good deals advertised) they do not even process their customers credit card, it goes from them to PayPal which is funny because they do not offer the option to pay by PayPal. So in effect your are handing your credit information to two companies instead of one. Just fyi.

BookIt.com bookit.com ruined my trip

My boyfriend and I had decided to plan a trip to Mexico over spring break in March of 2010. We searched for hours for the best deal and finally decided on Bookit.com, which had far and away the best deal. We booked for March 14th-19th of 2010, airline, hotel and transfers. When we went to print our confimation email about two weeks before we were scheduled to leave, we discovered that the booking was made for FEBRUARY 14th-19th.
Reasonably you could imagine that it is possible we made the mistake and we had chosen the incorrect month when we booked, if we hadn't double, triple and quadruple checked the dates, as well as read them off to a family member whilst booking.

So, thanks to a glitch in their computer system, my boyfriend and I have had to spend 1, 000 more than we originally booked for (each) and have spent over 4 hours calling bookit and being placed on hold for an hour or more being transferred around to representatives which are rude and unhelpful and unwilling to admit that there could have possibly been a glitch in their system.

DO NOT USE BOOKIT.

As a former employee of the company Bookit.com, i can tell you that you should have received an confirmation e-mail with instructions on how to open and review your information. Had you done this you would have noticed the problem right away and they could cxl/transfer within 24 hours of booking, So even though you may or may not have, it is your responsibility to verify your vacation details. I do know of this happening long ago however I do not know know if the system still caches these flights?

First and foremost I am not an employee of bookit.com, but will gladly defend ANY booking site if they deserve it.

You book online..you made the mistake..not the company. booking online by yourself you are taking responsibility for your actions.

done.and done.

"Bookit.com will book you for what ever dates you selected. If you selected dates in Feb. then that's what you'll get. If you decide to book yourself, then take responsibility for your own mistake. You could have just easily called and booked with an agent over the phone. I've booked several times with then, and the agents are very helpful and avoid dumb mistake like the one you made.", foxy23

This foxy 23 is more than likely a BookIt.com Employee troll. So in typical internets flair:

Obvious troll is obvious.

BookIt.com miss leading advertising / refund still outstanding

Do not fall for the scam at book it.com. I was searching for a good hotel for a disneyland trip 2010 spring break. I fond the hotel which was great, but then I tried to find it at lower price and got taken in by book it.com. I called the hotel after making my reservation through book it.com, just to confirm my reservations. However much to my surprise I was told by the hotel chain that they know longer do bussness with book it.com. When I asked why? I was told because of numerous complaints.

I immediately requested a refund (The same day) Its now been 3 weeks, a dozen phone calls totaling 6 hours on hold. I finally submitted a fraud claim with american express to get my payment back. I caution you do not use this agent!

My sister and I booked a trip through book it.com to Charleston, SC. We had our reservations with them since February 2012. The first week of May we receive an email stating that we do not have reservations and that the hotel will not honor it since book it is not with this specific hotel. Yet we have an email confirmation since February stating we do. Book it stated on the phone that they have tried contacting us since March regarding this problem. I have never received anything from them until May. They never tried to call me. They want to send us to another hotel that is far away from where we wanted to be located. (crappy hotel for the same price...thanks) So, now we dont have reservations with the hotel and prices went up $200.00 for the stay. The hotel won't help since we never had reservations with them. So now I am out of $200.00 and i can wait up to three weeks to receive my money back from book it. Never again. Do not use book it.com for any reason. stay away from them. I talked to the headquarters of the hotel and they even said there is a reason we do not deal with book it. That they will not deal with book it. They should not be in business at all. Stay away.

DO NOT book your vacation through BookIt.com! We booked in march for our vacation in June. We traveled from Michigan to Kissimmee, FL. When we arrived at the address of the place we were to check in and receive our keys - IT WAS BOARDED UP AND FOR SALE! Here we were, on a Sunday evening (4:00pm), with our 5 children (who were miserable from the drive across the country), in the middle of a "much less than desirable area" with NO ONE to help us. We called BookIt.com multiple times only to be transferred or disconnected. After 4 1/2 hours of begging for some type of help from them they managed to find us another location where we could pick up our keys and check in. They said it was "right around the corner" but it was AN HOUR away! This was THE WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had to deal with for a vacation.

Do not use this travel business, needed to cut my stay short for couple of nights, tried to contact 3 days before my original reservation ended, website doesn't work, stayed on hold for over 30 minutes, and finally gave up! Guess I will just loose two nights. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!

BookIt.com I worked for them!

I worked for Bookit.com from March 2009 to June 2009. This is the most screwed up company I have ever worked for. Let's start with how they treat their employees first. It is a call center, which means although they are always hiring, they do not have enough employees working for them. Why? Because everyone quits! Which in turn means the customers aren't getting good customer service because there aren't enough people to answer the calls. Also, when an upset customer calls and demands to speak with the manager...THE MANAGERS WILL NOT GET ON THE PHONE! They expect the agent to take care of it. Seriously! The agent will be on the phone with a screaming customer while the manager is standing right there telling the agent what to say! Usually all the customer wants is the pleasure of speaking with a manager and they are fine, but bookit doesn't care. They leave all that stress for underpaid agents who end up quiting because they can't deal with it any longer. And their break system! You either are allowed 1 30 min lunch break or 2 15 min smoke breaks...so that means if you are a smoker...it's either...do I want to eat or do I want to smoke and relieve some of this stress?!?
Now lets move to the customer part of it...pretty much EVERY mistake or error or problem that a customer calls about is NOT their fault! Blame it on the hotel, blame it on the airlines, blah blah blah. Yes they do have to go by the other companies rules and all that BUT I will tell you now, half of the errors people called in about WERE bookits fault but yet we were told to blame it on the other complanies and make sure you do not give any money back! Yes, they are a complete scam! I work in customer service and I would NEVER treat my customers the way they do. If my customer is unhappy and upset, I'll find any way I can to make them 200% happy with my company again! Your best bet is to arrange everything yourself and to not use a middle man!

I tried to book a hotel room in Chicago, and received an error message and phone number. That's it. The error message itself was nothing more than a number and message to please call so your "agent can put your booking back on track"

Turns out they took funds out of my account twice with no notification, no receipt, ...nothing. I had NO reservation but spent 2x what the hotel room cost. I got an "I'm sorry" and told to wait 10 days for a refund. They neither tried to get this reservation with the hotel directly nor tried to provide an alternate reservation.

Had I not of called to try and still book the room, I would have never known Bookit.com had taken funds out of my account. And they couldn't even get that hotel, nor did they try and assist with another one, so right now I am out almost $200 with nothing to show for it, but their "I'm sorry, please wait 10 days for your refund"

Avoid this site, and use a more quality travel site, they are out there. You don't need this hassle. Who takes money from a customer and provides no receipt or notification? And gives nothing in return but a 10 day waiting period for a refund

Turns out also, to do a reservation manually on the site is a $25. So it fails to complete online...then you have to pay additional funds for an agent to do it? Hmmmmmm...

I have been Trying to get a partial refund for a hotel stay I recently had. I checked out one day early. The Hotel said no problem. They checked me out. I was told to let Bookit aware so they can confirm I indeed left early. I have not been able to get through for 10 days! The other problem is I want to modify an upcoming booking and of course, no luck. They may be cheaper than other sites but their customer service sucks!

This company does NOT take pride in Customer Service. I paid for the insurance and canceled my trip 24 days before arrival. It has been over two weeks and still have not got my refund. They claim it takes 7-10 business days to refund your money when it takes 10 seconds for them to bill your credit card. I advise anyone in this situation to call your credit card and dispute the charge. As well i am researching what legal action we can use against this company. There are enough complaints to take this Company to court.

I work there for a yr and I was in the charge back department. If you charged back to bookit then you probably lost because of our terms of service in the small print. And I was the one that would deny your refund. I won $500, 000 in AMEX charge backs alone. That company makes millions of dollars! And in the summer they could make a million dollars in one day. Do you know what I made a hour? $9.75 and I never got a raise.. So yea bookit.com sucks!

BookIt.com fraudulent company

This company makes promises they don't intend to keep. The hotel (Which is their own client) informed me that bookit failed to make my reservation properly and therefore left me in a closet of a room for 4 times the normal price.

Then bookit offered to remedy the situation by offering me a better hotel... But when I accepted, they attempted to charge me the $800 difference in price.

Beware of this company. You can get a much better deal contacting the hotel directly and you'll have the peace of mind that your booking was actually done right.

BookIt.com overcharged hotel

My husband and I decided even though the economy is in such bad shape, that we would take the kids and go on a fairly inexpensive vacation to Panama City Beach, Fl. He said we should wait until we got there to pick the hotel, but I insisted on going thru one of the discount booking companies online. I searched and Bookit.com had the cheapest rate for a 3 star resort at an amazing price of $59 per night! So, of course I jumped on that kind of deal! Immediately after I confirmed the amount and my visa was charged, the voucher that must be printed appeared. To my surprise, it had actually charged me the full price of $79 per night, which after taxes and surcharges, was actually another $100. All of this and we haven't even gone yet! Immediately, I started trying to contact customer service, but with no luck. I've sat on hold listening to the recording of 'my call will be taken in the order it was received' for over an hour. I've emailed several times with no response.
I'm just hoping and praying that the hotel turns out to be what it is supposed to be!

bookit.com makes promises...and then puts you in a dump of a room, not at a discounted price either.

The photos on line of Long Beach were apparently taken when it was built, 15-20 years ago

We stayed in two rooms by Long Beach Resort, Bookit did nothing to help us.

Both rooms were old, filthly outdated, bug infested, with loose handrailings on the balcany rail.

I have pictures...and reported it all

Not even a phone call from BOOKIT.Com, over a week after returning home.

Go direct to the owners by looking up VRBO.com

Then you deal direct with the owners of the condos, nothing to compare to bookit.COM

i HAVE PHOTOS... EVERYTHING

bookit.com lies, promises, never follows thru on NOTHING

BookIt.com misleading prices

I wanted to book a trip for my mother and I to celebrate our birthday together since is very close to each-other in days figured I will take it to Cancun, she has always wanted to see the Pyramids and swim with the dolphins so I wanted to do something special for her and for myself, well when I go to bookit.com I see a price of $602.00 dollars for 5 days 4 nights all inclusive 5 star hotel per person, sounds kind of good for what you get, it was originally $1, 455 then went down to $852 and finally $602 plus they will also give you a 500 dollars fly credit. well it sounded very good so I wanted to book it but as I click next on the page to start to book the flight I notice that the price they were giving to me was $852 plus they were charming $90 for entertainment and $ 220. for round trip from hotel to the airport, so I was like hmm, so I figured the right thing to do was to call them to understand the misunderstanding if it was on my part, well 1st I email them a few days ago and no answer so figured I will call them so when I tried to explain the problem the service guy got upset and hung up on me saying he had no time for this.

I have never been treated like that specially when I was nice to them, I understand that it can be very frustrating for them to deal with people at times, but at the same time they choose to work there and well if it wasn't for costumers they will have no job

BookIt.com wedding day ruined

I booked a Vegas Vacation for my up and coming wedding through bookit.com.
Everything was a go until I received my confirmation 2 days late. They had me flying on Delta when the vacation was booked on Airtran. This wouldn't be a problem but the time they have me flying in 25 minutes after my wedding ceremony starts. I have been on 2telephone's for a total of four and a half hours speaking to almost every manager available and nothing is being done to rectify the problem. They did through in the fact that I have to pay bookit a $100 cancelation fee and that I will not get any of my money back from the airline. This is supposed to be my wedding day! I'm supposed to be happy, but I'm dealing with a bunch of incompetent a$holes.

BookIt.com overbook reservation

Over the weekend, my sister visted me and wanted to visit Myrtle Beach, SC. After searching all the search engine, I decided to book a hotel through bookit.com. When we arrived in Myrtle Beach and waited for one hour to check in, we were told by the hotel manager that we do not have a reservation. The manager indicated "bookit.com had overbooked us. The hotel was sold out as of 48 hours before we got our reservation online." He also hold us it was not their problem and that we will have to call bookit.com. So, I called bookit.com and waited for 25 mintues before I get a CSR on the line. The CSR told me it was my fault for not confirming my reservation in advance and that there is nothing she can do for me other than give me my refund. Of course, I have a problem with this. This is 4pm on a Saturday late afernoon during peak season, where in the world will I get a hotel?! I just canceled my 5pm show just so I can be on the phone with bookit.com trying to find a place to sleep. Finally, I convinced the CSR to find me another hotel but then there was a catch. I would have to pay the $55 price difference. And of course, I have a problem with this. So once again, I convinced her to get the okay from management to waive the fee. 15 minutes she put me on hold to only tell me the hotel no longer has availability and that they are having system problem, causing their system to show availaibility when there are none. I spoke with the manager and she told me the same story. THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME other than give me my refund immediately. I JUST SPENT 1 1/2 HOUR ON THE PHONE FOR NO REASON WHEN I COULD OF SEARCH FOR A HOTEL MYSELF.

Long story short, DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING FROM BOOKIT.com. We finally found another hotel two hours later that was 5 miles from our destination area. And also, as of today, I have not received my refund. When I called their CSR line, I was told I will have to wait for another 7-10 business days.

BookIt.com refund (vacation)

I tried to contact you more than 11 days ago with no result. Back in December (on the 23rd) myself and 8 of my friends were to fly to a resort called Riu Taino, punta cana Dominican republic and stay for 3 days, When we arrived at the airport to check in there was a discovery that my passport had a problem. I told my friends to go ahead on and I will be a day or 2 late, well it turned out that it was to take longer so I was not able to go at all. The trip was to be a total of 9 days, After making a telephone call to my friend I found out that they did, nt use the resort at all (they stayed at a relatives house). I have been in contact with the resort and they specified that I must handle this matter directly with you, I paid Bookit.com $3, 700.00 for this 3 day Christmas vacation and I am expecting a refund. I have conformation numbers (2) and airline ticket stubs. I hope this time we can resolve this matter in a civilized way, THANK-YOU for your time. Daniel G. Reynolds

BookIt.com worst travel arrangement experience ever!

By far, the worst travel arrangement experience I have EVER had, or expect to ever have, as long as I stay far and clear from this company forever.

I booked a trip to Costa Rica with them (based on good rates). Somehow, I managed to have a good trip at my destination, but no thanks to these guys. I had so much stress in dealing with their mistakes from the point of booking through my actual travels - thank god I was on vacation, otherwise, I would have needed one desperately from dealing with them.

Here is a run-down on the countless problems I had:
1) Their web system defaulted our flights to an airport that is 5 hours away from our resort by car
2) After booking online, I called in to find out about airport to hotel transfers and they gave me transfers from the airport that's 1 hour away to my hotel
3) 2 days later, they called me back to let me know what I paid for my transfers was insufficient, which is when I discovered their "default" airport is actually 5 hours away
4) They tried to blame us for the mistake, but I refused to let them
5) Thus, ensued a battle of about 10+ phone calls & 10+ emails to get "complimentary helicopter transfers" from the airport I was booked to, SJO, to LIR, the resort's local airport (many of my calls, messages and emails were left unanswered btw)
7) Finally, they gave in and confirmed to give us these transfers and I naively thought everything was settled
8) I departed on a Tues. AM around midnight, had a transfer in Houston, and then off to SJO... upon arrival at SJO, I got the worse news of all! First, the "helicopter" we were booked on is a totally difference airport clear across town! I didn't even have the name for it! Secondly, the helicopter we were booked on was CANCELLED!

We were luck enough to find helpful people who got us on the phone with the helicopter company (which was actually a small jets company, not helicopters). They were nice enough to send a driver to drive us from SJO to LIR, which caused us greater time delay & the need to suffer the brutal 5-hour car ride.

On the way back, we confirmed with our hotel concierge ahead of time that the small jet was not cancelled, so we took that back to the main city, but had to foot our own cab bill and the over-weight luggage charge (anything over 20 lbs was overweight) from the jet company, obviously also unknown to us.

I'm a little amazed we actually made it back considering all the drama. When we finally got back, I found out I got a msg from bookit.com advising me of the "helicopter" schedule change and asking me to call them back. I had already departed my origin airport over 6 hours ago by the time they left that msg. Thanks guys, really helpful.

All I have to say is STAY AWAYYYYY, run & hide, as fast as you can!

BookIt.com customer service agents give bad info - you end up paying for it

Bookit.com's customer service agents gave me wrong information about the pricing because they are SO MISLEADING wiht how they advertise their prices. When I tried to get them to do something about it, I was put off for several months leading up to my trip. Right before we were ready to leave, one of the managers told me that they would comp one of my tours to make up for the inconvienence and wrong information I had been provided and then never followed through with that. FLAKES... FLAKES... FLAKES...

Totally agree. I called them about their ticket policy for Mexico travel after US government issued travel warning against swine flu. Three of the reps told me I could cancel without being charged a fee. I thought it was too good to be true and even better than what the airline offered at the time. I confirmed with them time and again (to the effect of "are you sure what you are talking about?) and got repeated and definite "yes's." So I went ahead and cancelled and was told the refund would be back to my name. After a few hours I didn't get the confirmation email and called again when I tried to confirm the "no fee" part with a supervisor. It was here problem arose. I was told I would be charged $100-$200 cancellation fee and that, according to the note their reps took of their conversations with me, they had given me all the "correct" info (by reading the voucher)! Fortunately they were not very efficient in processing my ticket cancellation, so I stopped it. But what if I didn't call again and waited till the cancellation went through with a charged $200? Who would pay for their misinformation? And they only believe the notes their reps put down of what they said to me. Even the reps did realize their info was wrong, they didn't bother to correct it with me (they had my phone number and email in their booking records), but just put a "revised" version of what they had said. In a word, their being unprofessional will cost customers money, trouble and anger.

BookIt.com refund

I originally booked my trip with Bookit.com to Mexico. Then drug cartels starting offing tourists and what do you know... my fiancée wanted to change the trip to a safer location. After jumping through a couple hoops which im sure everyone goes through after they change their original plans (which in the end turned out to be perfectly fine), I was given the privileged of talking to a woman named Wendy. She was unbelievably nice, refreshing, helpful, and made all my problems go away (even with me screaming at her for about 30 mins in reference to a refund that I thought I was entitled to, due to some miscommunication through the entire process).in the end they refunded me what I thought I was entitled to and made all my problems go away. I am very thankful to Wendy as she was the most professional and helpful person I was able to speak with. I also have read the complaints and though I originally agreed with all of you who had bad experiences, I believe that you probably didn’t go about your problems the right way and that this probably happens with all travel agencies providing incredible deals like this where they are making little to no profit on these trips. I recommend this site to everyone and believe they are there to help and not to screw you over. I also want to thank Wendy again for her help and for tolerating me and my aggressive behavior. I recommend all users of Bookit.com (and future users) to simply ask nicely for things rather than yelling at them over the phone, and they will help your every need. Thanks again to the Bookit.com staff for dealing with me. I am very grateful for all your help.

Thanks,
AF

Wendy is the manager and it is her job to fix things that agents can not fix. Unfortunately for many customers you are stuck with agents who have no real ability to make decisions to resolve your problems and you will end up waiting in the que for a customer service rep who may or may not be able to resolve your problem. You lucked out and believe me you are the EXCEPTION ! I now because I used to work there.

They cannot be reached. The airlines changed my reservation without notice. I was told the notice went to bookit.com. The hotel and airlines can't do anything. I have been on hold over 6 hours on 6 different phone lines. They only department that answers is sales but they cannot help. I did an LLC search, Bookit.com Florida profit corp. shows as INACTIVE looks like it was changed to NRAI Services, 1200 South Pine Island Road, Plantation, FL 33324 9/5/2013. What does Florida BBB do? They have a pile of complaints. I cannot sign in on line

I booked a flight and hotel package for my boyfriend and I on bookit.com on 12/07/15, it was for my birthday week on new years eve. Knowing my birthday was one of the busiest times of the year I expect certain delays and hiccups but what actually happened turned out far worse than anything I can comprehend! We arrived at the airport only to be told last minute we had a 3 hour flight delay, now seeing that we live in chicago the weather is always a factor in delays so that was definitely not an issue. We ended up arriving finally at our hotel in NOLA late at night only to be told that we had no reservations! I called bookit.com immediately, I was on hold for an hour before I was able to speak with an agent. The agent apologized for the inconvenience and told me they had a "glitch" that she would contact the hotel on my behalf and give them all the information they needed to keep our rooms. Supposedly bookit.com accounting ended up having a glitch too because they told us they couldn't send the hotel there payment at the time and if I could put my credit/debit card on HOLD just for one night while the system gets fixed then they'll send the hotel all the information and money so I won't be charged twice. Guess what, whole week on my so called vacation was completely ruined by this company, I spent countless hours on the phone trying for bookit.com to actually pay the hotel the money they STOLE from me. I ended up with 600. Being frozen from my account that was supposed to be spending money for my vacation. I'm currently on my way home but once I do get home they better refund me. How can you as a company take my money for a hotel and flight yet never make reservations and never pay the hotel. I have never been so humiliated, frustrated in my entire life! Birthday weekend completely ruined and now I'm out of 600 extra dollars. All I have to say this is the most fraudulent company out there and be sure I'm looking for anyone willing to do a class action lawsuit against this injustice. For me it's not about the money but the principal. If ANYONE is serious about suing I'm willing to go above and beyond my email is artie_b21@yahoo.com please feel free to contact me. I will be contacting a lawyer well versed in this type of matter. Unfortunately I found out that in small claims court even if you win you still would have to do extra work for anything to happen to this company. .like ceasing there assets, maybe BBB can be contacted, I am going to put as much out there that I can about this scam. I hope this helps someone and they never have to go through what mess and stress I have.

Bookit.com charged my credit card 6 times for a hotel room they were unable to provide, and I never received a receipt about these charges or notification. Had I not of looked at my bank statement online the next day I would have never known. And their response was "I'm sorry" and "Some hotels won't let us do things online...this is one of them". SO they charge me 6 times for one night at one hotel that they couldn't even provide anyway...and without giving me notification of these 6 charges.

I am currently reporting them to government agencies for credit card fraud as well as having filed fraud paperwork with my bank and am pursuing other legal resources.

I urge you all to stay away from Bookit.com. there are other more credible, reputable sites you can use that you don't have to have a hassle with.

I was a former employee that was let go today. The reason "there have been several incidents where I have been reportedly provoking other employees". I use to work in their payment's department and with this being said I have first hand knowledge of their systems double and triple charging guest on more than 3 occasions. When I brought this issue to my supervisors I was told "it would be handled" and when/if guest call in regarding charges they are only told that bookit.com has already refunded the funds and it is up to the guest bank to release any faster. This organization is run with Jehovah Witnesses who only believes in their bottom dollar. I believe the real reason I was let go was associated with their systems going in and charging guest for trips they already took and paid for in full prior to travel and because I brought this issue to the companies attention every time it happened. I do not think they have had anyone in my old department who had a formal education that could actual see this issue. If there is a class action lawsuit against bookit.com please let me know and I would be glad to assist in any way possible. This company has to be stopped! The easiest way to reach me would be via email at tmreeves1@hotmail.com. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day. I am still trying too.

Maurice, this company is the most poorly managed company I have ever seen. They misrepresent themselves, they do border on abuse of new agents. I left there because they continually scheduled me for 7 to 8 days with NO time off and would not even answer the question as to why. They use people for their busy season and then fire them, transfer them to other departments for which they are not trained so that most in frustration will quit. It is really a shame what they are getting away with, they do not care about employees or customers.

BookIt.com flight changed w/o notice, charged me extra to fix their mistake

Looked at my flight voucher 4 days before flying to jamaica, discovered the flight was not the one I booked a month prior to the trip. Instead the new flight included an 12 hour overnight layover in a airport mid-way, getting me to my destination a day after after my (Correctly booked) hotel check in time/date.

Called bookit.com customer service, 10 min on hold, was hung up on.

Called back, held for 15 min, was told that I "should have reviewed the voucher and called as soon as I got it" and that i'd have to change my flight and pay the additional fees. I didn't have the debit card I had used on hand to change the flight, was told i'd need to call back when I got it.

Called 3rd time, held on for 15 min, got transferred to the flight dept., held for 15 min, was told that the person was "trying to find someone" in that dept...41 minutes later I was told that an e-mail was sent to the flight department and that someone will call me back that evening with my "options"...

Called airline directly, changed flights for 2 people to what they were supposed to be, paid $444 extra (Flight price difference + 2 x $150 flight change fees)

Um, shouldn't you verify when you make your reservation that you booked it correctly not 4 days before your trip.

Online travel companies are at the mercy of the airlines when things like this happen. It is VERY common for people to make mistakes and not realize it because they never really closely checked all the details. Bookit packages, just like the other ones, automatically default to the lowest priced options which, unfortunately, many times are flights that include an overnight layover like the 12 hour one you mentioned.

Booking through online companies like Bookit, Expedia, Travelocity, etc. are great as you can save a great deal of money compared to booking directly with an airline, hotel, actual travel agent, etc. however when you book it yourself online, you are basically acting as your own travel agent.

The best option when you are making a reservation ESPECIALLY with flights is to research online, then once you are ready to book, call the online travel company and book over the phone. Then when you speak to a sales agent, they are the ones who take on the responsibility of booking what you want and going over the details with you...details that many people miss.

Another side note for folks who book flights...online travel agencies do NOT have real-time data as the airlines do not provide real-time info. Flight prices & info are "cached" for a certain length of time but by the time you are ready to book, the airline may have made changes to availability, prices, etc. that had not yet been updated through the program the online travel companies get their information from. If something changes, the site will tell you before it charges you. When airfare is booked, the info is immediately sent to the airline and if the information & price has been changed by the airline, it will bounce back and let you know it has changed.

Another thing to remember. Airlines often make changes to their flights after people have made and paid for a reservation. You cannot fault the online travel agency for changes made by an airline. Many times the online travel company is not made aware of the changes made by the airline. It is up to the customer to verify with the airline that nothing has changed since you made the reservation.

It is an unfortunate reality of the travel industry. Airlines make a lot of flight changes due to a number of circumstances. Sometimes their is a problem with an aircraft causing a delay or cancellation of a flight in one city and that will likely trickle down to other flights as that airplane that is having problems will be used for other flights too, not just the one flight. Weather delays do the same things. It is a trickle down effect. A problem for one airplane, airline, airport, or whatever can effect thousands of people at a lot of different airports. Nothing they can do about that. Until humans become perfect, that is the reality.

BookIt.com didn't get reservations I booked

I found a great deal with a great flight on bookit.com, went through the booking process, but after I put my credit card # in and clicked "book it", I got an error page and couldn't do anything. 30 minutes later I got a call from my credit card - it got booked twice. I called bookit.com and was put on hold for 10 minutes 3 times each, only to be told their system was down and to call back.in the meantime, I got 4 emails saying my reservation was confirmed, but it was the completely wrong flight for more money. I called, was on the phone for 45 minutes where the guy told me airlines change flights all the time, nothing they can do about it, but he would have their flight department email me with other options. 5 hours later and no email, I call back. He didn't even cancel the double booking! After being on the phone 75 minutes this time, I got my flight changed, but it still sucked AND cost more. I never would have made the reservation with that flight in the first place! Then they had to cancel my other flight, but they hung up on me! So, of course I was on hold forever again, they said they would cancel it, but it's still on my credit card! I was very upset and asked for an upgrade or complete cancellation for all my wasted time, but they couldn't do that because it was booked online. What? I tried 2 times to get a hold of a supervisor because the "customer service" people thought it was enough that they canceled my double booking with no charge to me. Ha! I asked for a supervisor's direct line, and she told me that they use the number I used to get a hold of their supervisors. Wow, worst company I have EVER dealt with!

BookIt.com liars and cheats!

We had a trip planned to Jamaica. For medical reasons, the resort was forced to close the week we would be there, but issued everyone a full refund along with a free trip back to the resort within the year. The resort sent the refunds and the free-trip vouchers to the travel agents; unfortunately, ours was Bookit.com. While we did receive the refund, our free-trip vouchers never showed. Upon contacting Bookit, we were told they shipped the vouchers, and we must not have gotten them. After numerous phone calls and e-mails, still nothing. We would have filed a lawsuit, but since the company is based in Florida and we're in Illinois, we really didn't want to pay the fees to have them served. I bet someone from Bookit had a great free vacation with those vouchers... I will NEVER book through them again, and will advise everyone I know to do the same!

Um? Really, you start with um? I digress. If you call an agency and book a hotel room, that agency is acting upon your behalf. If that hotel is going to be closed issuing refunds and vouchers, it will be both parties (agency and hotel) responsibility to make sure this happens. The agency acting on your behalf is in contact with the property in question obviously, the agency advised they would be sending the voucher and not the property itself from your post, which could mean your voucher was sent to the agency in question. Regardless, you should contact that hotel DIRECTLY(might be too late now) and avoid middle men like BookIt.com.

Um, anytime a hotel gives vouchers for a free night they will not send it to the online travel company. They will send direct to the customer. The refund part does fall in the hands of the online company, which obviously bookit completed their end of that deal. The hotel providing the free stay the next year has nothing to do with bookit. That is just something the hotel is doing on it's own as a "sorry" for them not being open.

Heck, the hotel doesn't have to do that, especially in a foreign country.

And let's say you wanted to sue bookit. For what? You got your refund. You are not entitled to the free night vouchers. If you don't get them, you have to take that up with the hotel. That is on them, not bookit.

BookIt.com unprofessional, poor customer service

I found a resort for an incredible price and found the booking was through Bookit.com. Considering the price was much too good to be true I thought to call before booking. Did so and spoke to Derrick and asked him to confirm the price. He pulled up the info, saw the incredible price, he couldn't believe it either and wanted to check with his immediate supervisor. After a short wait he came back on and said the supervisor was calling the resort to confirm the pricing (strange I thought). I told him to call me back and said he would in a few minutes. Half an hour later I called him, asked what was going on and got the same answer.

Some time thereafter, I called again and asked to speak to a supervisor, and after a short while I got a woman named Tiffany and explained the situation and informed her of the poor customer service I received from Derrick. She took all the info and checked it out and came back shortly thereafter to inform me the price was incorrect and "in the rare case" of incorrect data input, Bookit.com has the right to cancel any booking.

Fortunately, I didn't book it. A few minutes later I checked the same web site and price and it had gone up! Can't trust em' and advise you to be cautious, be very cautious and having read some of the complaints above, I guess I was one of the lucky ones, having only lost time.

Makes me wonder about all those who have lost but have not complained here.

I have no idea how this happened but I get my confirmation back and there is no car included. I specifically needed air, hotel and car and I know I inputted them into the computer and told the reservation agent! So I call them and they were not helpful at all. They said sorry it only has flight and hotel. I think this may be some scam they are pulling. BE CAREFUL! Print everything out. SO YOU HAVE PROOF. this lesson cost me almost 200.00 WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!

Bookit.com is a HUGE SCAM. I booked in late November for a trip I took in March. I paid about $300 extra for a flight that was not a red eye. On CHRISTMAS morning, I received an email telling me the flight had changed and I was now on a red eye. I spent hours on the phone with bookit and they blamed the airline. I was still booked for 7 nights in a hotel, but with this new, red-eye flight, I would only be at my destination for 6 nights. I asked the woman from bookit to put me on a flight that got me to my destination a day earlier and she told me it would still be a red eye. When I told her that I wanted that extra $300 I paid for a non red-eye back, she again blamed continental. I finally contacted the airline to find that I had never been booked on the earlier flight, and wasn't even booked on this new flight. I told the woman from Continental that the bookit agent was supposed to be changing my flight to this new time that would get me in a day earlier, she said the woman had yet to reserve this flight either. I finally had the woman from Continental reserve a place for me and she advised me to only go through the airline for this. I spoke to a few people and they informed me that this is a common bookit scam. You pay for a flight and they do not reserve it for you until last minute. You pay extra for a good flight, they don't reserve anything until right before so that they can place you on the cheapest flight and keep the difference in money that you paid for the good flight. When you complain about the change in "flight schedule, " they blame the airlines. I was never compensated for my $300. Also, they informed me of the "travel change" on Christmas morning. It was no coincidence: they do this because they know you will probably not check your email or respond until a few days later. Then they say "Oh no, if only you had called earlier we could have fixed this". DO NOT USE BOOKIT. Anyone who has NOT had a problem with them is the minority and not the standard. And finally, they email you constantly and when you try to "unsubscribe, " the link is ALWAYS broken. This is a prime example of a business taking advantage of loopholes and technology to scam consumers. I'm disgusted and it nearly ruined my entire vacation.

Booked a flight to NY with a rental car. Was charged. When I arrived to NY the car wasn't even reserved. Even with the receipt I printed from BOOKIT.com the car rental place wouldn't except it. This site is a scam. When I called them, I was told "the wait time is 13 minutes." Waited on the phone for 49 minutes and hung up. Next day same thing... "Your wait time is 12 minutes." I was holding for 58 minutes and no one ever came to the phone... It's a scam!
This site needs to be investigated.

BookIt.com misrepresentation

Check other options first! I purchased a vacation package I thought was on the beach at sandos playacar riviera hotel and spa only to find out it is 10 minutes away from the beach! Although pictures represented people on the beach etc, if you stay in the "riviera complex" of this "resort" you're going to be 10 minutes away. I called bookit.com to complain about this and the only thing they offered was a downgrade to a 3 star room, from my 5 star room in order to be "closer" to the beach. They did offer to change hotels for me. But I liked the accomodations of this new all inclusive resort. I'm feeling let down and left out in the cold and I know my wife is disappointed. This was going to be our honeymoon as we didn't have a chance to have one when we married 3 years ago. So make sure you ask obvious questions before you make your decision! Good luck to you all, I hope i've helped at least one person out.
