ComEd over billing delay in charging for service & outragous charges

After paying monthly bills, 10 months later, Comed sent a bill for over $1, 000.00. Comed said the original bills were estimate bills and were mistakes, after long conversion with ComEd rude personnel, unreturn calls, incorrect information placed on account, re-adjusted incorrect billing. But I started paying the current monthly balance and extra 100.00 on prevoius balance. But this month wasn't able to sent payment by due date. So, a disconnect bill shows up for entire balance of 700.00. So, I called ComEd 8/16 to state I didn't have all that money at once, and informed the Customer Service Rep that I would pay last month bill $170+ and $100. extra for past on Friday 8/20. She stated that I needed to pay today$290.00+, and be placed on payment plan. After informing her that I didn't have it, and I would have it by Friday, and since I've been paying extra 100.00 monthly. Her response was that I can't set up what I want to pay, and that I should a payment plan on past due of $85.00 along with current. But I have been paying $100.00, which is 15.00 more than payment plan. Also, she stated that the balance was $1195.00 which included new bill of 298.+ and previous. After more than 40 minutes of rude conversion with Com Ed rep and 30 minutes holding before I even got her. I expressed that she was rude, and I would like to speak with Supervisor, her response was why?, they would tell me the same things. I still insisted that I speak with supervisor or collection dept, to state that I would pay this Friday 8/20. Finally, she stated that she would put in a request for supervisor to call back and it would take over 1-3 day and service will be disconneted and with 690 calls on hold. I informed her that I don't have the money and I will paid Friday, after explaining that my husband is out of work. After all that, I really wanted to tell her that if Com Ed would treat their customer better that 690 people wouldn't be on hold.

Consumers are getting ripped-off by one-and-only residential power company in Illinois, by BIG BULLY - ComEd. ComEd demanding that customers over-pay, collecting hundreds of dollars above-and-beyond their bill (electrical usage). Stop ComEd's Unfair Business Act by filing a complaint with the ICC - Illinois Commerce Commission. Stop ComEd from turning your...

ComEd unauthorized debit charge

I had made a payment to ComEd through my bank's Online Bill Pay. Which sends them the money electronically, if unable then they mail them a check. I did this to avoid the $3.50 charge from making payment over the phone. They denied the electronic payment from my bank and then charged to my account including the $3.50 charge. So now I am left with 2 charges from ComEd and none of the customer service reps can handle the mental capacity of what is going on to assist me. I had to go through my bank to claim a dispute based on an unauthorized charge to my account. Still is inconvenient and ComEd is probably the worst merchant I pay monthly.

I have been with ComED approximately a year now. Until recently my bills were always paid on time. However, like the rest of the economy I fell upon hard times, and began late payments. Although My payments were late my balance has never exceeded $200. Once I moved to another location within the same city, they sent a request for me to pay $400 additional...

ComEd the company

Com Ed sent me a letter in the mail stating that they were charging me a second deposit for service. have had this service for over a year, it has never been turned off. I haven't received a disconnect notice of any kind. They called me last week and a recording said my service would be disconnected if I didn't pay $172.00. Only $100.00 was due at the time. I called ComEd and asked a service rep why ould they call me and say that when I have never received a disconnect notice her response to me was "They are just doing that to get people to hurry up and pay their bill". I received the automated call on about the 9th of April they said it would be disconnected on the 13th of April.

My husband passed away, when I changed the account at the same address to my name ComEd issued a refund check to my deceased husband. After speaking to a CS rep my only option is to tear up the chack or contact my lawyer to assist. Really? That is nuts!

ComEd illegal practices

Either I or may Bank made a mistake, and sent my mortgage payment of 774.52 to Comed, and my $48 electic payment to the mortgage company. So all I asked was Comed to give me bakc the money that was mistakenly sent to them. This happen on 2/13/2009. Comed was notified on 2/20/2009 when I found out from my mortgage company about the error. As of today 3/17/2009 Comed has not returned the money I no consider it stolen. I have been on the phone with them several times. After hours of being on hold, I am told I have to prove it was a ligimate mistake. I faxed the infomation they requested on 2/20/2009. Next I am told I have to end my budget rate plan, and pay everthing build up, even though the orginal bills was $48.00, and I have never been late with my Comed Bill. The budget plan is suppossed to keep rate at the same rate though out the year, so some times I owe them, sometimes they owe me, in the end it balances out. I end that plan like they requested a bout a week after the first call. Next I am told they will not issue a refund (It's not a refund, it's money they stole) untill 30 days after the end of the budget plan. I have tried to talk to supervisors, they are never there, I have ask for call backs I never get. I got one voice mail saying the same thing as everone else. How is this legal? One I told them it was an error, they should have sent the money back immediately. If they had sent me $726 dollars that wasn't mine, I would be in ail by now. I they were any other company I would have told them to go to hell and never ever use their service again. But because there it no other electric company, I am stuck. This company's officers should be in jail.

There is a ComEd automobile that has been parking in our lot for most of several days per week. It is not a resident's car as it does not have a resident sticker on it. He is here at least 3 to 4 days per week.

We would like you to look into this because if he's supposed to be working, he's not.

In November ComEd sent me a bill 1000% higher than my normal bill and they claimed that it was because they put a new meter in my apartment in August. So while normally I paid $20 for my bill, this was now $200. All of their representatives swore that that I had used 1500 KWh of electricity (impossible for a 500 sq foot apartment and for 31 days) and ultimately I was able to explain their own faulty billing system to them and concluded that they had used an actual balance minus a understated estimated balance to calculate my usage. I demanded that they told me my actual meter balance for October since they had the new meters but they said they had no way of knowing. So we agreed that we would skip November and take the december usage and apply that same usage to November's, effectively doubling my december bill. Now I got my december bill and that 200 previous balance was not adjusted to what was agreed. Their logic was that they are within their rights to adjust all of the bills I had already paid since august to take in the new meter readings. They essentially took that 1500 usage and spread it across those 3 months even though technically they were unable to give me the balance back in November. On top of that my normal bill went from $20 to $80 which im not happy about but im not fighting either. My case is that if they had actual readings in August, then I should've paid the bills correctly then and it's not fair to backcharge me for their faulty meters after the bill was paid. The worst part is that they gave me the actual balance for August and the usage still does not come close to the 285 dollars they claim I owe.

If this was Comed sending a bill for $10.00 rather than $100.00 they will for sure make you pay it right away, no questions asked. They are good for bullying customers all the time. They do have a monopoly in placed supported by state and local government. What a shame!
