Scam company
My brother is disabled and lives in West Virginia.
Clear Rate called him and offered a better deal on his telephone rate. He accepted the deal.
He never received a bill and disconnected the phone.
We paid the bill plus a large reconnect fee.
A couple of months pass and they disconnect the phone again. (Again no bill.)
We paid the 2 months and a large reconnect fee.
We waited a few days and the telephone was still disconnected.
The account now has a large overpayment because my brother and I both paid the bill.
We want to transfer back to Frontier but Clear Rate will not have the phone reconnected for another 2 days (total 9days).
So my brother who is disabled is/has been without a phone for 9 days while this ### company is sitting on a large overpayment?
Internet/phone
I received a phone call one day back in December out of the blue from a company called “Clear Rate Communications.” A very pleasant young man said that he could lower my phone bill with Verizon. I told him that I was happy with my Verizon service and was not looking to change anything. He went on to tell me that caller ID, voicemail and long distance call...

Last week, I switched over from CenturyLink to Clear Rate because I wanted to pay less for my telephone service( $29.99 per month for a year) while keeping my CenturyLink high-speed internet access. However, when Clear Rate took over my phone line last Thursday, my CenturyLink internet access---in which I'm still a customer---was bumped out and I have not had internet access at home since. I feel like an absolute dolt. If I switch back to CenturyLink, I may have to pay a penalty for breaking my Clear Rate contract.
This is the exact same thing that happened to us in June 2016. We were guaranteed that our CenturyLink Internet connection would not be touched. We have now been without Internet for almost 8 months. Our data plan on our phones is high now. To make things even better, our phone shut off this morning (Sunday) 2 days after our payment to them was processed. I will be calling them tomorrow to find out what the heck. I'm so done with this company and will be returning to CenturyLink asap.
Telephone service
This is the complaint I sent directly to clear rate communications: I recently received a telephone call from your company, clear rate communications, regarding a wonderful rate on telephone service. I asked the second representative who took over the call if it would affect the bundle with my current carrier; he stated that it would not affect my bundle. He said phone companies don't bundle the phone with other services and everything else would remain the same. His responses to my questions were complete lies. I was also told that I would be billed after a month of service, not pre-billed. Well, I received a bill shortly after this service took over and to my surprise, the bill was as much as my previous carrier. I cannot believe I am being charged $57.16 and have only had the service for a short period of time. Not only did my bundle get messed up, but i'm not saving any money. I'm paying for poor customer service and representatives that are misleading and untruthful.
When calling the company with my issues on august 14th, the phone conversation regarding the bundling service was apparently not recorded. The third party verification was recorded, but it was completely automated and I was agreeing to the conditions based on the information received by the representative calling my home. When I received a callback, I didn't have any problems to report because I had not yet received a bill and didn't know that my bundle was affected. Unfortunately, I wasn't successful in getting my situation resolved, and discovered that the customer service is terrible. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, there wasn't one available, but I could receive a call back "tomorrow".
Unfortunately, I did some research on the company after realizing the offer they coaxed me into was not going to save me any money after writing checks to 3 different companies. I only wish I had known other customers were as dissatisfied as I am. Some of the complaints I found included terms like "tricked", "very poor management", and they only want their money even though and to keep you as a customer even though you're dissatisfied with their service.
Because of the misinformation I received, I want this contract voided without cost. I am very disappointed with this company and their processes. I took the representative's word regarding my bundled services and he apparently had no clue when responding; I feel he gave me the best answer to try and convince me to switch services. Well, he was successful and now I have a higher bill to pay, a messed up bundle with my previous provider and horrible customer service.

No service
My step-mother who is hearing impaired and uses a walker had lightning hit her home on Feb. 29th 2012. The outside phone box wihich is attached to the house was blown to bits. She has had no phone service since the 29th this is the 5th of March. She lives alone and has no phone. Clear rate wants 100.00 to run a new lines in her home. I can run a new line but they refuse to replace the blown apart box. These people have no conscious at all. DO NOT USE THEM OR SWITCH TO THEM. You will regret it!

No service, but wants $282.98 for services. Provided
This company called my wife and told her they had a lot better phone service package than our present carrier (verizon), she said she would talk it over with her husband (Me) and get back to them. We talked it over and we decided to just stay with verizon. A couple days later people were calling us on our cell phone cause they could not reach us on our home phone, I called verizon and asked if there was a problem in our area cause we have no phone service, they informed me that they are no longer the carrier for our service and that they cannot help me, you need to call your new carrier, clear rate. I proceeded to call clear rate and they informed me that my wife gave them permission to change our service, (which she did not do). Come to find out, they dis-connected my phone service to verizon on the same day they talked to my wife, without her permission, and when I told them I have no phone service now at all, their reply was that they have a lot of customers changing carriers to clear rate, and my service should be back on within 72 hours! And, at this point it had already been off for 3 days.
From the time they turned off my service and I switched back to verizon, we had no service for 9 days! Now, I am getting a bill for $282.98 for services they provided to us. Lets see here where those charges came from... If you have no phone service.
A) cannot make or receive calls. (which means no charges there for calls made or received).
B) no internet (so cannot use that, so no charge for internet).
C) no products ordered or delivered, no charge there).
How can you have a bill for services, when they did not supply you any?
This company is a "joke" and you need to avoid them completely!
I have sent them several letters explaining that I do not owe this bill, to date I have had no reply except for this new bill, in which I am not gonna pay, and I am forewarding this matter to my attorney for further action.

Sindy, I agree, we could file class action suit to get this company bankrupt (hopefully) and have them pay fines to the government for scamming consumers.
The same exact thing happened to me. I got a bill from them, in some other name. I complained to the BBB only to recieve a revised bill with my name. Do you think we could file a class action suit? Just wondering, because of ALL the complaints I have seen online.
Rip off's
This company calls up customer, tells them that ‘they are’ your local phone company and bamboozles you into their service, with a one yr contract too boot. Good service or not, they rip people off every day! I called them once and the lady on the other end of the line was very sweet when she answered the phone, I simply asked (inquired) do you guys have contracts? She got very stern and asked “who is this”? No joke! That right there told me all I needed to know about this so called company. They should be taken down! They are classic crooks in the 21st century and shouldn't be supported in any way.
Please, does someone have their phone number?
Fraud/no service provided
My 80 year old mother-in-law was contacted by Clear Rate and convinced her to switch to their service in December 2009. She was without phone service for a 2 week period. When family tried to contact Clear Rate, they were told that we could not be talked to since we were not on the account. They suggested that this 80 year old woman (who doesn't drive) walk to a pay phone to contact them. We found another provider. Unfortunately, Clear Rate is threatening to report my mother-in-law to a collection agency for phone service she never had. This company has no customer service and is a complete fraud.

Steer clear of Clear! They entered the Houston market this year with a huge advertising campaign. After being assured that I would have 4G coverage in-home service, I signed up with home and voice service. 30 days later they still couldn't provide an adequate signal for internet connection (one light on modem, occasionally 2 lights). With the poor internet connection, the voice service was terrible. After 10 calls to Customer (not) Service, I pulled the plug and went back to my old internet provider.
.
Clear makes lots of promises but they are weak on execution. I would never recommend Clear wireless to anyone!
Terrible company the shadiest trash I have ever dealt with .
Thry promise you the world for pennies on the dollar and then send you a bill for twice as much as your old company . They are terrible people they tell you they will keep your number and charge you an early termination fee if you leave them . thats all [censor]
Misrepresentation of savings
The sales person who sold the phone service promised a $15.00 a month savings to my phone bill. I spoke to them about having a bundled service with Comcast that include phone, internet and TV...they said I would save $15.00 a month and they would take care of every thing else. I was committed to a one year contract by agreeing to their service. It has been a disaster ever since. First my phone was dead, second the technitian told me to go out side and see if there was power(unsrew a box at the front of my house and plug my phone into it and see if there was power). I would not agree to this and asked for a technician to provide this service. If Clear Rate agreed to take care of everything why did my phone not work and why was I going out in below zero temp. to trouoble shoot an issue. They said if a technician came out they were going to have to charge me. I said my phone worked until you came into the picture. They backed down and sent out a technician...there was a problem outside.
I complained when I received my first bill, it was not $15.00 less. With tax it was more than my previous bill. I call and complained and said I was concerned. I had not yet received my Comcast bill and was concerned that that bundled product would be effected. They noted my complaint and said I could call back when I received my Comcast bill. Yesterday, I received my Comcast bill, it went up $23.00 for unbundled product. Now, because of mirespresentation of the Clear Rate sales force, I am not saving $15.00, I am paying $80.00 a month more because I switched to Clear Rate. I called yesterday and complained, I was promised a call back from Shannon and I asked to talk to a supervisor and non of this occured. I want out of the contract without penalty. Clear Rate misrepresented the savings and their service.I want immediate attention to this issue

I have had the same issues with Clear Rate. They asked if they could speak to the person who handled the Frontier bill, I thought I was speaking to FRONTIER as that's how they got me to speak to them. To whom do I speak to report them? Does anyone know the phone number? Thanks very much.
Seizing a phone number then no service for 12 days
On The third call they finally told my mother to answer yes to all their questions. They seized her phone number on December 16, 2009. We were not able to get verizion back until December 28, 2009. All of the 12 days my mother had no phone service incoming or outgoing then they have the nerve to send a monthly charge bill of 61.96 includes tax. HOW CAN THIS BE WHEN YOU RECEIVE NO SERVICE? Now we receive a bill for 118.30 a one time charge is added to the amount $99.00 . THis is ridiculous I have filed a complaint with the BBB of Detroit and Eastern MIchigan. Contacted local tv station for help and am going to file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office as this should not happen to anyone else. I think they only have one employee and his name is Nicholas in the office. He gets louder when you ask to speak to supervisor.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
You have described our situation with this company. Nicolas is loud and it took me an hour to talk to a supervisor named Megan. They are also charging my mom the termination fee. She also lost service, with days to wait for repair. My mom's phone service is noww ith another company in my sister's name. This company is something else with the worst customer service I have ever encountered. She is now being threatened with a collection agency and having to pay court costs etc. Does anyone know what we can do to avoid having to pay this company another rank cent for their terrible service, billing and repair service?
Poor service
Clear rate communications is the worst company ever!... They have very poor managment and do not listen to thier customers at all.. They just want their money and keep you as a customer even though your disatisifed with the service. When asking for a manager you are always told they are not available, im sorry but when I call and get bad service and want to...

After hearing all the details of the phone service I declined the offer because Verizon was way cheaper than Clear Rate, within the week I received a bill from Clear Rate, they had not only switched my service without my permission but the rate was double what they originally quoted. Now I have called them three times without being able to cancel because they are reviewing my recorded call, in other words, they are accusing me of lying about declining the offer. What a nightmare, I will NEVER listen to another phone soliciter again!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
Clear Rate is a fraudulent company. Run as fast as you can. They promised a cheaper rate. Two weeks after switching I discovered it was in fact a lie. I immediately called to cancel for false advertising and they demanded an exorbitant cancelation fee. When I asked to have the CEO contact information they refuse to disclose this information. HANG UP AS SOON AS THEY IDENTIFY THEMSELVES!
If Clear Rate wants to resolve these complaints, how come they do not include a phone number to reach them in their replies?
I thought they were legit. Now I am sure they are not.
Clear Rate switched my Mom's service over without permission. They cold called her and fraudulently just did it. She never agreed to switch.
If you get a call from them...hang up immediately.
I received a call from clear rate and was thoroughly convinced that they were part of verizon and were
handling the long distance part of the bill..Didnt realize that I had been slammed until I received the bill!
Anyway, I immediately switched back to verizon. I filed a complaint with BBB ( clear rate has over 110 complaints against them.) However, I will have to pay the final bill. Ive learned a valuable lesson..be very careful of who you talk to over phone!
I thoroughly agree! Stay away from these people. Of course, we were lying also. As we told, it was on a recorded phone call that they "repeatedly" I Ded themselves as Clearrate communications well real fast and slyly maybe. Once burned twice shy to the tune of 120$. Your Welcome Dada
That is my opinion of course...
This company is a scam. Period.
I had clear rate communications for over a year. It cost me more than verizon but I oculd actually tlak to a human and I was able to get rid of those annoying ph. calls from advertisers about 15 calls a wk. unsoliicited. I was told my bill would never go up. Then I recieved a bill this month for about 25 dollars more than it should have been and called them. I was basically given a friendly run around so I called verizon and switched and am now waiting on my final bill which I'll pay whne I feel like it. I would like to send the money I was told it would always be but I guess even though it's not right I'll have to pay the additional amount they tacked on.
Fraudulent company
I had a customer service rep. Contact me 2 weeks before I moved to another address, offering me a "wonderful" calling package that would "fit all my needs, and save me money". I inquired about moving service, and asked about any fees for switching residences. There were none, or so I was told... I was also supposed to have unlimited nationwide calling, for less than I was paying through verizon. Well, I received my bill for $255.58 the other day. What happened to $45.00 plus tax? I had also given a day for my move, which after I consented to their service, was told that I would be charged $60.00 for them to disconnect my phone line from my old place, and reconnect to my new place. Um, excuse me... I was told there wouldn't be a charge, since they knew up front that I was moving within 2 weeks of signing up for service. I called to find out why I was being charged for long distance, and was told it was due to using dial up internet services. Those are not included in your "unlimited nationwide calling", I was asked when I signed up what was my primary use for the phone, I explaned that I was a student, so I need not just phone but internet services also. Why would I sign up for services that would cost me more, and include less? I wouldn't... And I didn't... Also I told them I was moving on the 1st of may, I have long distance charges on my phone that not only did I not make, but I also have long distance calls from days after I moved. Explain that one to me. Basically they have crummy customer service, and can't even put you on with a supervisor, but they will rape you, of anything they can, and try to make it your fault.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
So disappointed! They sure were fast to charge me for equipment that I returned in the time frame, but because no one "checked" it in timely they took over $600 from my account. They say I will get a refund in 60-90 days. That really hurts a small American owned business. Their services sucked as well. Kristen was a great operator though.
we are not getting incoming calls Nell Everitt [protected] could you please help
I have cacle you guys longtime ago.NOW i am back with centurylink now.please turn my phone back on now.
I'm a single mom of 2 small children. I have Graves Disease and I'm losing my ability to see. This company came in put a new internet line in, but broke the phone leaving me no way to call out. When I call the employees just laugh at me. I have had no out going phone service for week and I had to call another company to repair the broken line. Stay away from this company, they do not care about their customers at all.
My landline has been out of service or interrupted from the initial date of May 21, 2019 ongoing interruption as of date!
They stole my internet from my internet provider, they charged me for SIM cards never even activated. And in one mI think my bill was 652? What the hell ever. Iam contacting a Attorney and Iam prosecuting this company . They are a fraud. And they are a rip off and they steal your information! Beware
I called and cancelled and they keep billing saying my new company needs to tell them! Why not the person paying the bill tell them? They were so rude and said I should have kept calling making sure my Internet company called them They told me to throw away my router so I never dreamed they would send this high bill!
I am a Verizon (FIOS) customer. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill from Clear Rate Communications for $56.99 (month of July 2018). I immediately called and told them I would not pay the bill. I also told him I would contact Verizon. After contacting Verizon and informing them of this situation, I was informed that Verizon still had my phone service and my number had not been transferred to Clear Rate Communications. Wow, was I confused; I then called Clear Rate Comm. back and got a different customer rep. I repeated all the previous actions and was told that they have a tape recording of my request to make the transfer; at that time I requested to hear the recording. The recording started out with a series of Yes/No questions of which I answered "Yes." The voice sounded like mine but there was no difference in voice inflection. After the yes/no questions, I was heard saying my name, address, and phone number - it was my voice, but I NEVER made this phone call nor answered any questions or gave my personnel data. I then made the mistake of telling the lady it was me (that is the mistake), but I never made the call - at this time I am very confused (again); i.e., how did this happen? I asked her if she had any follow-up correspondence showing I made the request --- her answer was "Yes" and she would go get it for me. I asked her for the extra correspondence because companies usually send out information that requests your acknowledgement that you made the request. Approximately 5 (five) minutes later she came back and informed me that the additional correspondence had been lost. In addition, I was informed that my account would be canceled -- smells like a SCAM to me. I highly suggest you do as just did -- I notified my local Better Business Bureau. Also, I just found out that my local Police Dept. has a special section that deals in Scams - tomorrow I am going to see them. I believe that, hopefully, the FBI will get informed because this scam was done across state lines -- they are in Michigan and I am in the South. Please do not allow these people to get away with this --- save your bill and contact the Better Business Bureau.
I just was contacted by a representative from this company the number came up Sioux Falls, SD. [protected]. The man stated that they had took over Verizon and he was authorized by Verizon to call me and lower my bill. When I told him that I was looking his company up and the reviews were terrible, he said well look up Verizon and see what you get; I said I know the company is no good and he continued to push the sales pitch. I finally said that I would be reporting his company to see if they were legit. He got really nasty and said well some people do not want to save money and I will just move on from here. I called Verizon and they said they had not authorized any company to call their customers, and then I was advised to call my local law enforcement agency. I reported the call and number and it was documented.
Why are you on my credit report as if I owe you money when Ii have never had any kind of service through you?
