We found water spots on our ceiling in three different areas on our 41/2 year old roof from Clayton Homes which is on a 2018 Blazer. I emailed several times the Clayton Advocacy office. They wanted me to file a claim with my homeowner's insurance agent but that agent advised against that since it would start a claim and thus negatively impact me by filing it, especially since the nature of the problem did not indicate anything weather related caused the problem.
I did consult the services of a professional roofer who took pictures and plans to write an official report that the leaking is due to improper installation of roof ridge shingles which, over time, curved upward thus exposing the ridge to rain when blown in a particular direction.
I tried to get someone from Clayton to look at the situation quickly to avoid further damage. They did not seem to be concerned so I found myself vulnerable to further leakage if not fixed immediately. No help was forthcoming, just a reminder from the Advocacy Office, in my paraphrase, "If the problem did not exist during the year of warranty, it's not our problem" thus, after paying thousands of dollars for the home I am left with a roof which only lasted 4 1/2 years, I have to do something as it is raining at my residence even as I speak. I have hired a roofer to put on a new roof and he will start next week. Hopefully, I will not have any more damage (depends on the direction of the wind) to my house, due to the fault of Clayton's poor workmanship, yet left to me to pay for.
