We have been an AmeriGas customer for 2 1/2 years. We monitor our tank percentage every 2-4 weeks. On Jan 8, 2026, our tank was at 28%, so I went into the online account and requested a fill. A couple days later, I received a call stating it would be filled Jan 15-19th @ $2.42/gallon. I received both a text and an email echoing the Jan 15-19th fill. On Jan 16th I received an email stating it would occur on Jan 19th.
On Jan 19th, I received an email stating they were unable to fill, it would occur Jan 20th.
On Jan 20th, I received an email stating they were unable to fill, they will reschedule.
On Jan 21st our tank was now at 10%, I called the 800# and was told my request was escalated and would be completed by end of business on Jan 21st or 22nd.
On Jan 22nd, I called to verify delivery, message stated by EOB Jan 22nd. Didn't happen.
On Jan 23rd, I called the Customer Service line again, and requested a Supervisor. She said, she was emailing the local office to confirm when they could deliver. She would call me back. Didn't happen. On Jan 23rd about noon, I called Customer Service again. They gave me the same message. On Jan 23rd, about 3:30p, I called Customer Service again. We were expecting storm Fern and nearing the end of our tank. We turned the furnace down to 60 degrees and pulled out 4 space heaters and cycled the oven, then used electric blankets at night. C.S said their call center is based out of Cleveland, Ohio and they would be open until 8pm ET. They said the local office would be delivering on Saturday due to the pending storm. They still didn't call with any update/confirmation.
On Jan 26th, I called CS, they said the local office was closed due to the ice storm.
On Jan 27th, I called CS, they confirmed that the local office was opening today at noon and they escalated/expedited my request...blah, blah, blah. Still no delivery and our tank was below 10%. We reached out to a local gas company (hubby knows the manager), and they agreed to make a delivery on Jan 28th. They did, and charged us $2.99/gal. Amerigas was cancelled, as they NEVER delivered in 3 weeks time. Sad part is their customer service staff never followed through with any communication or confirmations. They've not lost a loyal customer forever. The skeptic in me wonders if the local office (assuming its Waynesville, NC) drug their feet because their rate increased due to the cold weather (and Storm Fern).
