The only gas I receive from AmeriGas is for a gas fireplace. I live in Florida, so as you can imagine, I do not use it that often; in fact I turn the pilot light off for most of the year. Once a year, I have to clean the burner and light the pilot light. After repeated attempts to light the pilot light, I could not even smell gas. I checked the outdoor line and could not even find the valve. I contacted AmeriGas to check and see why the fireplace was not receiving gas; thinking something was wrong with the line. The tech showed up and discovered the valve had been "capped off". I had no outstanding debts with AmeriGas, so there would be no reason to cap the valve. Within 5 minutes the tech was gone, and the pilot light was lit and the fireplace was working. It is worth mentioning that the tech mentioned I did not need the protective glass on the fireplace and it was merely decorative. We immediately noticed the smell of gas inside the house was unbelievable. After doing some research, we discovered the glass is their to actually seal the gas inside the fireplace. Well, AmeriGas charged me $330.00 for this "visit" to "uncap" what they had done by mistake. I was shocked and disputed the bill and service call. They then turned around and billed me for a "phantom" service call 2 weeks later that never happened. I have since contacted an attorney and we are considering negligence and fraud charges; keep sending me threatening voicemails and emails AmeriGas; it all adds up.
Recommendation: STAY AWAY!!!!!!
