I made the mistake of purchasing a subscription to AVG back in 2024. As soon as I tried to install it, I realised that this product was not for me and tried to get the amount refunded, but failed to do so. I tried to contact them, but that proved impossible as well. I chalked it down to a bad experience. However, they renewed my subscription the following year. I tried to contact them but was unable. Neither by phone, email, or chat. So I alerted my Bank and told them this is not a legitimate transaction, and they reversed the payment. However, it appears that AVG refused, and my bank paid them. The fact that I have never used their product did not seem to matter. I eventually contacted AVG through their “Chat” product, and they promised to reverse the payment. When this did not happen. I again tried to contact them, and through dogged persistence, I managed to reach them. They stated that they needed my bank confirmation to verify that they had settled the matter, so they could then refund me. This was after I insisted on speaking to their supervisor. I contacted the Bank and they provided me with a letter. I sent it to the address AVG supplied, along with their relevant reference numbers. However, instead, I received an email stating that the case was closed. Thereafter, each time I send an email, I am told that the case is closed. When I try to call, no one answers. Today I tried 29 times to contact them by phone, and it just drops off. I wanted to make a formal complaint, but this option is also not available on their platform. I am out of pocket for two sets of annual fees for a product I have never used.
