Today I received my 3rd replacement phone. The first phone the screen went dark after a call was made. When you needed to access the dial pad to process thru automotive response you couldn't see the screen to make selections.. I got a run around trying to get customer service online as this is my only phone. After a couple of days, customer service on Facebook helped with a replacement phone. My replacement phone arrived and while trying to get the back of the phone off I cracked the new replacement case. Still trying to remove the back I stuck a knife in the charge casing by accident and wasn't able to charge the phone. At this point, I called and ordered my 3rd UMX phone. It arrived today ill be damned if this piece of crap doesn't have issues too. The very same problem that I had with the original phone is the same issue im having with this 3rd UMX phone. When I make a call the screen goes dead making useless if you need to make automative selections. This is unacceptable. You're charging more for this crap than Walmart sells the same phones cheaper. All these issues with this device you should stop selling this garbage. sku UNM673APB Hex [protected] Dec [protected] Tracking number [protected] arrived today Aug 23 207 Cell # [protected] pin 363636

O, and after disabling New hijacker app (aka Instant News) using its Settings Page Battery Optimization tab to access it's Disable and Force stop buttons which work then, I suggest you reboot your phone after clearing out Chrome history for it since first time I disabled it, I discovered it was still running in memory even Force Stopped and disabled. My trick appears only to buy 24 hours before it re-enables itself and the 3-4 step process mentioned above has to be redone to buy you next day hijacker free while browsing.

Okay folks, disabling the app had nothing to do with 3C Toolbox but it can be used to search for News once System Apps enabled for the search to reach it's settings page. You have to use the Battery Optimization tab for it to access it's settings again where that allows disabling the app entirely. I just found this out again the hard way where after 24 hours disabled, it re-enabled itself where it was also listed under PlayStore updates on my phone with a Enable Auto Updates ticker set for it so it not only re-enabled itself, but updated itself as well. Thus so far all I can say is my disabling trick good for 24 hours only since it re-enabled itself from being disabled 24 hours earlier. I found out all 12 apps pending last 10 days had Enable Auto Update set but none had updated in 10 days where this hijacker News browser updated itself soon as it re-enabled itself.

Expect a year max from the battery and never let it charge overnight as the battery will last 6 months then of a swollen battery twice it's normal size. Steer away from it if you can. Not much free space for apps. Apps run slowly. Much better out there.

I had that very same issue briefly when I received my Assurance Wireless cell phone. The issue with the screen

being black is in the phone's "time out" settings! You have to go to settings and choose Phone and check for your

on-screen time out options and check 30 minutes! That will keep the screen from shutting down..

My screen went black today. It also shows the green "full charge" light in the upper right corner of the phone. Is there any way to reset the phone so that it might operate again? At this time I can't afford a new phone and I truly need this thing for work. Who would I contact to replace this P.O.S.?

I got a free UMX phone from assurance wireless, there are so many complains about this phone already, I wonder if my review will be read but I truly learned this phone inside out in the months using it. First issue is popup ads, this can be stopped by deactivating unnecessary apps, but your browser will still get a popup ad, this is not the phone but the provider, assurance will charge you a fee to stop the browser popup..it happens when you open your internet after not using it. I switched to microsoft home launcher to get rid of the unremovable search bar on the home page and get better wallpaper (a new one everyday). The phones camera quality is absolutely unacceptable, its so grainy it looks like its moving, the coloration is all off, a selfie looks horrible and you cant fix it with filter cuz the quality is so low. Samsung J3 Prime also has a 5mp camera but its crystal clear and the colors are accurate, I mean its such a huge difference for the same megapixel. Even the camera app sucks they gave you one with too many options to make up for it but nothing helps it even makes it worse stretching the picture if you chose a different picture size..and theres like 20 pictures sizes that warp the picture. The phone freezes up, overheats and cant handle too much at once like a webpage with videos and ads or music playing while trying to surf, you need to remove the battery and start it up again. The battery drains really fast, it charges fast too but you need to bring a charger with you it only lasts a couple of hours. It makes you want to stop using assurance because on top of this, you cant even use an unlocked or virgin mobile phone with them..it must be the overcharged assurance phones from the website, most only have 5 or 8mp cams only one or two way expensive ones have 12. They really are capitalizing off the govt lifeline program. The customer service like with most companies is in the Philipines.

I agree. Those UMX phones are garbage. I received a replacement from ASSurance Wireless/Virgin Mobile and it had the exact same problems despite the fact that it was a new device. I am not going back to that carrier. Shame on them for doing this sort of thing to low income families and others.

My mom just received an assurance UMX un3481 cell phone. I am trying to buy a case for her because I am afraid she might break it otherwise. I have looked everywhere for a case for this phone but have had no luck. Is there another model I could search that has the same specifications that the phone will fit into? Your prompt response would be greatly appreciated.

I also have a very cheap UMX phone. I received it today, Wednesday, June 5, 2019. I am experiencing FIVE customers service agents, and three of them hung up on me. They are seriously incompetent and rude. The last one I spoke with was some man...oh, and all of them sounded Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese or whatever...they were all foreign. I asked to speak with a supervisor and none of them would let me. I also asked to be transferred to the United States of America in order to understand an American agent, yet, they blew me off. If you do have customer service in the United States of America, then you need to provide that number. If not...why not? I will be calling The Better Business Bfureau and tell them about this travesty.

Philipino---Most too polite! They say three times as many words as we do because it allows them time to think about what you are saying---SO---polite and happy---Just do what I asked and stop saying American words, please--I'm begging you!

The magic words are as follows: 'ESCALATE ME TO YOUR MANAGER" (the "next" level.)

Lots of hang ups---especially before you can take their surveys!

None of them send memos by computer so you keep repeating it---over and over---then escalate anyway.

They waste 3/4ths of the time you spend because they are American phone workers. Courtesy and translation problems!

It's like "CHATS"--------WHAT A HUGE WASTE OF TIME WHEN A PHONE CALL WILL DO IT!

For Instant News hijacker browser deactivation: U have to clear its data 1st, turn off notifications both under its app settings notifications and It's time spent tab 2nd backdoor notification sub tab. Its a system spamware app so you cant uninstall it fully unless rooted, but it will revert to base version under Playstore updates Uninstall button only seen needing updated once data cleared out. These 4 things done will stop it from hijacking websites saving you 50mb freespace of it's app install size and 100mb per month it steals from your data plan. Data/Cache have to be cleared 1st since soon as data clear it re-enables notifications on bringing it back to life. Trick may only last 12-24 hrs or til reboot. I haven't checked, but I'm getting whole day no hijacking of my Chrome browser.

And please don't forget to clear all Today news tabs out of Chrome browser or you will back out of new Chrome webpages and see that Instant News (Today news) crap going back to Google. Ironically, I did notice say using Google after killing the hijacking browser then using Google Go and then going back to using Google re-enabled it so I recommend just using one or the other after disabling it or you will have to repeat 3 first steps since Uninstall already performed of step 4 using Play store app update page for uninstalling Instant News to factory base version.

Also looks like under Time Spent tab having the second notification access for this hijacker, turn off allow Instant News access to background data usage under mobile connection being Assurance Wireless as your mobile carrier

Believe it or not, I stumbled on a way to disable this app unrooted using 3C All-in-one to access its settings page versus using android system access for its settings of Force Stop and Disable and both force stop and disable worked. I can't say how I did it, just stumbled on it through 3c toolbox but not using toolbox main app settings page like usage access or some oddball access to Instant News app.
