When the heat is on, it never stops running and the apartment stays cold on winter days, resulting in high electric bills of up to $350 for my one-bedroom apartment. I have been reporting the central air problem to the Northbrook Apartments ever since I moved in. Despite making several attempts to get someone to come take a look, the issue remains unresolved. Frustrated with the lack of action, I informed them that I would be reporting them.

Pepper Pike has been a source of numerous issues since acquiring Forest View Apartments this June. Initially, they unexpectedly increased my rent by over $300 without sufficient notice, solely because I am a month-to-month tenant. This predatory behavior towards a low-income community struggling with inflation is highly concerning. Fortunately, I have secured a great job and will be terminating my lease with them. This leads me to my next grievances - their lack of transparency, punctuality, and availability. They never answer their phone, fail to adhere to the posted 9-5 Monday-Friday schedule, and on occasion, I have witnessed staff sitting at the front desk while the door remains locked. Today, they displayed the courtesy of posting a sign stating that they have staff inside but are "unavailable due to training." Considering we are now in the second month, their staffing and training matters should have been resolved by now. They utilize an online portal called "Rent Cafe" for rent payments. However, when I finally managed to log in towards the end of June, it inaccurately showed that I still owed rent for that month, despite having paid the previous owner. Throughout July, I have repeatedly discussed this issue with them, providing receipts and assuring them that the payment has cleared my bank. Yet, the matter remains unresolved. I fear that their incompetence may lead to my account being sent to collections or even eviction. Additionally, their Rent Portal displays an outdated monthly rent of $695, which is no longer accurate. It seems that they have misplaced my current lease and failed to update the rent to the new amount of approximately $970. Regrettably, I did not request a copy of the lease, and as a result, I was forced to pay the incorrect amount of $695 for July, and it appears I will have to do so again for August. I am deeply concerned that their incompetence may have severe consequences for me once again.
