AmeriGas Propane Cost of propane, charges and customer service

I am extremely upset that I did NOT know that the propane was being delivered today and usually get a text stating that it would be delivered the next day or within hours. I was delivered 160.6 gallons. I received a message AFTER it was delivered. I called to see what the price per gallon was and it was stated that it was $4.31 per gallon. I had called another propane company who offers propane at $1.79-$1.99 PER GALLON. It is not a promo nor is it for new customers. I feel as though I have been price gouged. I called and asked for help with this AFTER I had chatted with an agent, and they had told me it would be the $692.19 there would be no other fees or charges. When I chatted on the phone with them, they told me the total was going to be around $762. I am livid with this whole thing. I was also told their number is the ONLY number I can reach someone on, and it is in the Philippines.

AmeriGas Propane Cancel account but still getting billed

In May 2022 I cancelled my propane account with Amerigas. The account had been open for 4 years. My neighborhood had natural gas pipeline installed thus no need for propane. It took me until June 2023 to get the tank picked up. I have continually received invoices every month. I call and talk with a customer service representative every month who tells me my account has been closed with no balance due. This has happened the past three months. Same conversation every month. I paid the tank pick up fee. I don’t owe you any money!

Desired outcome: I just don’t want to EVER get any correspondence or billing from your company again. I don’t owe you any money.

AmeriGas Propane Tank purchase

Dear Sir/Madam:

I have spoken to two support persons over the last 4 months. They kept billing us since 2014 after our tank was paid off. We sent them the initial contract and they still have not provided a refund.

Support persons in Phillippines are nice and professional, but they never get back to us to resolve.

AmeriGas Propane Tank Pickup

On June 27,2023 I contacted AmeriGas to have my tanks picked up. The change in the tank rental policy prompted me to seek another company for propane service. On July 26th tanks are still sitting in my driveway.

Contacted AmeriGas and they could not supply any information identifying when tanks are going to be picked up. I asked to be transferred to a local account rep. They informed there was no local contacts within the continental US. Sham told me the only way my tanks could be picked up was to close my account, how ludicrous!

I called again on July 27th as I was billed overnight for tanks rental. Called again and spoke with Nellie, she couldn't help. I asked to speak with a supervisor and the first response was she didn't have one. When I refused to accept that answer she transferred me to Mary C.

THE NAME OF THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. I recommend non-AmericanGas.

If you are looking for propane service look somewhere other than AmericaGas.

Desired outcome: Pick up the tanks from my driveway. They are a hazzard.Remove charges from my account.

AmeriGas Propane Refund check not being issued.

Have been waiting for a refund check reissue for over a year. They sent the 800$ check with the wrong name on it. When I couldn't cash it I requested a new one and their reply was that someone changed the name on my account. This is a lie. Now over a year later and numerous calls and broken promises I still have no check. Every time I call they tell me that the last person did it wrong and it's fixed now and I should have a check in the mail in 5 days. I even have screenshots from a live chat from over a month ago with these promises! Now they won't chat over messaging with me anymore because they said the reason " my account is closed". Lies! I've talked on chat numerous times! It's beginning to look like a scam. This is a very VERY shortened version of my issue with this company.

Desired outcome: Refund check that is owed to be sent

AmeriGas Propane Emergency service/customer service

I drive by an Amerigas yard everyday on my way to work. Today there was a bad smell of leaking propane. When I tried to call the local office (# on the gate) it forwarded me to the Philippines. How is someone from there going to help us locally? They had no idea what I was talking about. I needed to give them the exact address or they couldn't help.

I ended up calling 911. I am applauded that another company has chosen not to employee continue to people locally. I am also applauded because I used to work for this company.

AmeriGas Propane Billing and refilling

My client is 100 years old and she has been with AmeriGas a long time. I've been with her over 4 years and I never once seen them service her refill it change tanks out anything. I know they've been in the park where she lives at but never at her residence and she is a bedridden but she can see out the door and through her sliding glass door or housing very big. It's only has the only thing that needs propane is the water heater and stove. Let me tell you she cannot take a shower so not in the tub and her pilot light hasn't been lit for the past couple of months because it's too hot. The water that just comes on the faucet is right temperature for her when I actually do her bath for her. The stove she can't cook obviously, but I cook for her three times a week in the morning and that's using the stove less than 5 minutes. So tell me how is it? She is consuming so much propane where they're feeling her every other month of over 50 gallons plus and then they're going over there changing her tanks out supposedly because we've never seen them change at her tanks and she lives in a trailer park. So there is neighbors behind her beside her all the above knowing that fact. But the even though the park manager has never seen them at her residence or anything and we have numerous witnesses to this effect. Also, we have servants footage of the pass over the past year knowing that they have never been to her place. I know that she being by herself. She can never consume that much. Propane, I mean it probably would last her more than likely probably a year. If anything during the winter months is the only time that we probably would turn on the hot water that's it so I'm wondering why they are really overcharging her for Phillip. She never even got and then changing her tanks that she never even got. I want to know where all that money is going to for number one number two is that they have in their saying she has past two. She pays her bills on time every month. And why is she having to pay for Phillip? She hasn't received. Got and I wanted investigation done on this because I do believe they owe her some money. I was going through the bills and I'm going to call them first thing on Monday morning and because I was just getting my ducks in a row for everything because this is so wrong that they're doing this to an elderly person. This is elderly abuse. She was confused. She thought her AmeriGas bill was electricity when her electricity is not even a quarter of her freaking AmeriGas bill. Her AmeriGas bill is so high when she doesn't use the use it. Like I said it's on the pilot light has been off on her water heater because it's summertime and she we don't need that on for right now and it has that automatic shut up because it's too hot hat she never got I was able to get the last 2 years of billing but I'm gonna go pull previous cause this has been an on going thing. What's real sad is that since she thought that her AmeriGas was her electric bill so she throwing the summer as motherfucking. Right now she's in the hospital because she was turning off her AC at night because she do want her bill to go higher and higher when that's not even what her AC is on electric and that's not the Americas bill.she's hurt in the hospital right now as we speak because she thought her bill was going to go higher and higher. And like I said her bill has been over 300 a month for her AmeriGas bill. So I don't understand that when her electric bill is only $77 a month so far, that's the highest bill she's gotten

Desired outcome: Refund and compensation of non service and investigation. I bet they have done this to thousand of customers. We will pay for fills she actually got.

AmeriGas Propane Fraudulent billing

Acct #[protected].

Address of Residence: 11308 Ledgement Lane Windermere Florida 34786

Home Purchased by the Murrays: September 2014

Pool/Spa/Propane Tank Installed 2003

This request is being sent after speaking with Mark of your office:

The previous homeowner of this residence was using Amerigas to fill their propane tank so we thought we would order with Amerigas as well. We contacted Amerigas who told us that they (Amerigas) owned the propane tank and that we were obligated to only order propane for our tank by Amerigas. Amerigas sent us a contract that we signed based on their direction and still have for your review if needed.

In going over all our pool documentation, due to repairs needed for our pool/spa, we discovered the attached bill of sale from the original owner of the house for this propane tank installed by Heritage Propane in 2003.

Every year since 2014 Amerigas has billed us for the lease of a tank which Amerigas does not own. Of course that was a mistake which we know Amerigas will correct by refunding our money ASAP without further action on our part. Our records indicate the following payments we sent Amerigas using the bank's ebill pay service:

2014 $53.32 BBT sent check 10/14/2014, This was prorated for the year

2015 BBT sent check $92.66 10/12/2015,

2016 BBT sent check$95.85 10/12/2016,

2017 BBT sent check $95.85 10/14/2017,

2018 BBT sent check $$99.05 10/08/2018,

2019 BBT sent check $102.24 10/19/2019,

2020 Regions sent check $105.44 103/20,

2021 Regions sent check $108.63 09/30/21,

2022 Regions sent check $128.67 09/30/22.

Please note that all the payments were made approx same time every year based on Amerigas' billing cycle. Please forward ASAP a check for $881.71 to Maria and James Murray at 11308 Ledgement Lane Windermere Florida 34786.

Thanking you in advance

AmeriGas Propane Home propane gas

We have been waiting over three weeks to get an inspection. We have infants. And no hot water or gas for appliance’s. They said they would be out this week which is way too long for a family to wait for especially with infants and they were informed of such.

They cancelled inspection due to inspector being out for undisclosed time or reason and have no idea when they can get to us..

I have called them to get them to give me a date with no answer in hand. This should be illegal for a family with children to go through.

Desired outcome: Have gas

AmeriGas Propane New homeowners owners to already installed propane tank

We called Amerigas to check to see if we can get a bigger, propane tank in the backyard. We are new homeowners and moved into this house with an existing tank for heating the spa. We wanted to see if we could get a bigger tank to run a generator. We asked p Amerigas to come and see if we can get a bigger tank. The man came and said your tank is full. And yes, you can get a bigger tank. We said we know because the homeowners filled it up. Then without her knowing a second person came out and said they filter tank and did a bunch of stuff. Then charge us $237. We’ve called six times and they keep saying they’re going to credit us and never do. Customer service is horrible. I think it might be in a different country.

Desired outcome: Credit our credit card

AmeriGas Propane Invoice resolved to zero balance and no reflection on our credit.

We canceled service Nov 2022, no one ever come to pick up tank. In May of this year we received a call about tank and I told them they would need to contact me upon arrival to pick up tank so that I could let them in our gate. Still nothing. They stated that we were being charged a rental fee plus a fee for the tank because it was lost. (Over 800.00) Well, it wasn’t lost it was sitting 10’ from original spot due to new company moving it over. Approximately 2 weeks ago we come home and the tank was gone (not sure how they got into gate-did not contact us). Now, still being charged after speaking to numerous people (mind you no one speaks English) they stated that they had filed to have Invoice refunded.

I am so tired of dealing with Amerigas (we originally signed a contract with Heritage Propane) they sold to Amerigas. They are so crooked. The reason we left Amerigas is because of the lack of customer service.

AmeriGas Propane Repair rented tank

On may 29 our stove was running propane irregularly bit would turn in but the flames died out in a few seconds a lady in customer service anais she could see our tank was empty. Since we just had it filled and the tank lasts a year I told her we must have a leak then so she sent someone out Our was full the tech said that’s customer service can’t tell from the office what our tanks are. . The technician said we needed a regulator. He didn’t have one and would send someone in a couple days. A week later no one came. Called customer service 4 times. Wasted 3 1/2 hours they were rude and insensitive. I was given an appt on June 29, a month without a stove. Very falling as the tank I RENT$$$ from them was broken and they refused to fix it The service manager said it wasn’t important and they weren’t sending any one earlier. I had to buy a $100 double hotplate to cook food this month. The customer service reps were nasty rude and expressed. their lack of concern very clearly. I can’t wait to be rid of these awful people. Dealing with Amerigas is a horrible thing and I can’t stand them. And it’s especially insulting that it’s their equipment that I’m paying for !

Desired outcome: Reimbursement for the hotplate purchase

AmeriGas Propane Tank Removal Bill

06/26/2023 at around 4:38 PM our propane tank was removed from our property by Amerigas. We had not agreed to the tank being removed. Around a year before, we had contacted Amerigas about removing the tank, but when they stated there would be a near $200 fee to do so, we said we would get back to them with our decision. We made it clear we did not want the tank removed if such a fee was required to be paid. Yet they came, near a year later, and removed the tank without forewarning and while we weren't home. Then we received a bill for $258.01.

As we did not agree to the tank being removed, we believe we shouldn't have to pay the over $200 bill.

Desired outcome: For the $258.01 bill to be waived

AmeriGas Propane Failure to deliver

I am thoroughly disgusted with your service, or lack thereof.

You were supposed to deliver gas to my residence "sometime" last week, and I was supposed to be notified prior to delivery. The delivery was never made, and I was never notified that the delivery would or would not be made.

I called to complain about the lack of delivery, and no action was taken.

I called to resubmit a request for delivery, and a very polite lady said that a delivery would be made and that I would be notified in advance. Despite my requests, she would not give me an approximate date of delivery--what day, what week, what month, or what year. This is no way to conduct business.

I would prefer to have access to local dealers, but whenever I try to call them, I am forwarded to a remote office in India manned by people with very thick accents that are close to impossible to understand.

To add insult to insult, you billed me twice for my annual tank renewal fee. I was told that my excess payment would be applied towards my gas purchase.

I've been told on numerous occasions that if you have a complaint, you should take it to the top. Following that advice, I may have to share my experience with the Amerigas CEO if my problems are not resolved in a prompt and satisfactory manner.

Sincerely yours,

Eric M. Efron

AmeriGas Propane Amerigas service

As a second generation Amerigas customer with a personal account at Amerigas since the mid 1980’s I am appalled at the poor treatment that I have received and after countless attempts to handle the situation at a lower level am now impelled to request your assistance.

I have two Amerigas accounts however it is account [protected] which is associated with 4541 Peek Trail, Chesapeake, VA, 23321 which is in issue. Please note that this is a rental property; as a landlord I have responsibilities to my tenant for basic needs to be met. This account with Amerigas was so mismanaged that I was forced to take it under my responsibilities as a landlord in order to maintain the tenant.

Problems started in 2021 when I took over the account on 5/1/21. The account had been on a monthly budget and, at that time, the monthly budget was set at $31.00. This seemed rather low and was increased to $38.00 on the September 2021 bill. The house has a 250 gallon tank and, at that time, was heated on propane and propane powered the gas stove and water heater. I repeatedly asked for the budget amount to be adjusted as over the months the overall amount crept up into the hundreds then over a thousand dollars. I was told I was not able to have the budget amount re-calculated until February – no matter what. March 2022 bill was recalculated at a mere $78.00 with $1,590 as a balance owed at that time. I again requested a re-calculation and asked to speak to a supervisor or someone with authority as it was apparent that I was never going to pay down this balance with just $78.00 per month. April 2022 I received and paid my monthly $78.00 bill and also received a “settlement notice” of $1,050.40 which I was informed when I called to question the amount that I must pay in order to continue getting propane service. Perhaps you personally are not familiar with the concept of “budget” but the majority of people requesting and needing a budget bill it is because their finances are limited and they cannot afford huge increases in their monthly expenditures. I called Amerigas to ask for an explanation and was told to disregard the “settlement notice.” During the call I again explained what had been happening and asked for a budget payment plan or payment options that would be affordable.

In response the June 2022 budget bill rose to $152.00 which was paid and continued for a few months. September 2022 the monthly bill rose to $226 with $1,025 balance. I again called the service center and requested help in determining options on how to pay the bill within reasonable monthly expenditures. I was told that the only way to “re-set” the monthly bill on a reasonable rate was to pay off the entirety of the balance and Amerigas would then re-compute a bill for me. I stated that monthly bills of over $200 for a renter was not within their ability to pay and I needed options. With great displeasure I paid off the $14698 (Sept 2022) and expected a lower monthly bill in the future. After this bill and talking with one of your customer service representatives I felt that since the cost of propane was so high that there was no other option for me as a landlord but to install a new electric heat pump so that the monthly bills for my tenant would be feasible.

The end of September 2022 a new heat pump was installed and I again called Amerigas to inform them that the need for propane would hereby decrease and asked for options to help make this billing of propane a reasonable expense. I asked if, considering the circumstance, if the decades old 250 gallon tank could be switched out to a 125 gallon tank but was told it would cost be almost $400 for that change. I was also told that, since I would likely not be using some minimal amount determined by Amerigas I would also be paying a rental fee for the 250 gallon tank. The fee for this tank rental of $180 appeared in December 2022. Note that I had paid a significant sum during the 2022 year. I called and questioned this fee but was told there was nothing to be done about it.

October 2022 I received a monthly bill of $222 on a statement which included a negative $200.92 balance. Yes, your company did note my previous call requesting recomputation and did note the diminished usage which we went over in great detail however monthly bill only decreased $4. Again I called the service center and was told my best option was to discontinue monthly billing. I was concerned with getting big bills when the 250 gallon tank was refilled by automatic delivery. I was told that the automatic delivery would only be when the tank was at 30% or less. What happens if your service people come out and the tank is higher than 30% I asked? I was told that if the tank was not at $30% they would not put more propane in the tank.

After receiving my October 2022 bill the tank was filled with 65 gallons of propane. The three prior deliveries had always been over 100 gallons delivered. I called and questioned this delivery amount but was told that it was correct. In January 2023 another delivery (and subsequent bill) was made for 25 gallons. Again I called and complained and was told that this would not happen again. In May (around 10 May, 2023) another 33 gallons was delivered. Now I am not the most proficient at math but I fail to see how a 250 gallon tank could be at 30% or under and receive these few gallon delivery in order to reach the prescribed 80% full. The same day I got the May bill I raced to my tank and it read at 54%. I checked the “gauge” on the computer and it read 79%. Something is obviously wrong so I called the service center and requested someone come out and look at my gauge and determine exactly how much propane was in the tank. I also explicitly stated that I needed to be informed when the technician was at my property and wanted to be there when the tank was expected.

An appointment was set for 5/23/23 between 6am to 10am. I was at the property the entire time. Tuesday at 1:57 pm I received a text notice that my service call had been completed. Nobody had talked to me, the gauge had not been replaced, a smell of propane was in the air and my computer/system gauge was now reset at 54%. I called the service center and complained and got a new service appointment for 5/25 between 6-10AM. After 10am had passed I was required to go to an emergency appointment so I called the service center to get a new appointment. The next appointment was for 5/26/23 between 11:15 and 12:45. I was not only on the property I waited outside the house the entire afternoon calling the service center multiple times and always being told that the technician was on route. At 3:45 I received a text message and an email saying that my service had been completed. Not so. I again called the service center and was told that the technician had received an emergency call for a gas leak and nobody would be coming to my house that day. The earliest service call I could get was for Tuesday, May 31 at 3:15pm. I was so upset that I called customer service and asked for written information on how to disconnect my service. While I was assured that this information had been sent to my email address it failed to arrive. I understand there is also a fee to disconnect service and take away the tank but considering the advice I have received from your service representatives I will need this information in writing before making an informed decision on how to proceed. I have also asked for information on how to contact a complaint department and was told there is none.

As a landlord and a customer your service has put me in an untenable situation which must be rectified.

Desired outcome: Your company install a new 125 gallon tank with working gauge at no cost to me and audit my account for the last 24 months to determine that I have been invoiced correctly. Please contact me at [protected]@duck.com.
