My husband purchased our wedding rings on the 22nd April, We got married on the 3rd of May, a few days after the wedding I picked up that my wedding ring changed from its original color, the gold part changed to bronze, We could not go back to the store on time as we were on holiday,
On Saturday the 17th of May we Visited the store where he purchased the rings, I advised them of my query and told the consultant (Lebo) in Randfontein branch that I was not happy with the color of my ring, I actually wanted an exchange or a refund, I was then told that they can only clean the ring as I have used it already, She advised that the reason for the color change was because of the chemicals that I use at home when cleaning, and come to think of it I don't use any strong detergents besides dish washing liquid and pine Gel,
She took both rings, mine and my husband's, for cleaning and advised that we should buy a jewellery cleaning liquid worth R690 which we did not buy. My husband's ring fell off one stone and she advised him that we can bring it in for repairs.
I am not happy with the way this is being handled because my ring was cleaned on Saturday but it is changing color again, does this now mean that I should use the jewellery cleaning liquid every after 2 days or each time after using the detergents? I need both rings to be exchanged because this could be a factory fault. I mean how on earth does a ring that doesn't have 3 weeks lose a stone and mine changes color. I need a resolution to this matter ASAP. We know people that have been married for years but would clean their rings after 5 or 6 months, and hardly change color regardless of the detergents that they use.
