American Income Life Insurance don't be fooled!

I totally agree with all of your comments. I, too and the other people I trained with was led to believe we were getting a guarantee for six months. So, after we had been there a couple of weeks we asked our manager and found out the truth about the so-called guarantee. Another thing that I really disliked about the company was the training. This was the most unorganized training I have ever seen. It was only supposed to take two weeks but it actually took about 3 -4 weeks and all of it was unpaid. What a bunch of cheap ### that can't even pay you while you train.

The next thing the managers don't tell you is that all of these leads are union members that are really just signing up for Free Stuff and then on the bottom of the card in small print it tells them somebody will discuss their insurance with them. I was led to believe when I got hired that these people actually wanted to hear about insurance and that is why they sent back their card. They are just baiting and switching.

The newest thing now is the Child Safe Kit. What agents do is put sign up boxes in places like daycares for a free child safe kit. Then the agents call these people that signed up to deliver the free child safe kits and when the agent gets in the home they start trying to sell insurance. What a scam!

I was also told when I started the travel would be minimal. But this was not true either a lot of my appointments were at least 45 miles from home and with high gas prices that can get very expensive. And after being there about a month, I was told that we didn't have very many leads for our town and we would have to travel more. What happened to all these unlimited leads I was told about.

Don't be fooled by the fact that when hired, you are told you are and independent contractor. You have very little freedom and are required to be at two weekly meetings. I thought being an independent contractor meant you do your own thing and work your own hours. But not with this company, you have no freedom.

In closing, my advice is if you ever get a call from American Income Life about a job interview, hang up the phone right away. They paint a very good picture and promise you that you will make big bucks. But for the most part it is all lies and half-truths.

I worked for AIL. I can tell you things that would shock you. Some i am pretty sure is illegal. ok. i will start from the beginning.

I worked for AIL pittsburgh. When i was recruited I was told 1250 a week if i made enough for bonus. That never happened. When you go into the interview they say no cold calls, they supply fresh leads. Let me tell you about some of these leads. After 2 weeks of 12 hour days I got my lead pack. I had 80 "fresh" leads. I called my first 5 leads...each person told me the same thing. They all were just talked to 5 minutes ago or so by another associate from AIL and gave me their name. It was someone sitting 10 feet from me. After another 3 hours of calls I was chewed out a couple dozen times, hung up on a couple times and the rest were already talked to. Out of 80 FRESH leads. 30 were already talked too. 20 didnt answer. and the last ones sent the yellow card in 2 years ago and were policy holders that were lied to.

so then i worked off my referrals. That is the only business i had. The one man was charged more than the business i submitted.

Also while i was working there I was approached several times to take orals for fellow agents so they can submit their business on time. I refused, but people kept asking, do you smoke. oh can you do me a favor. Im pretty sure faking an oral and forging a signature is illegal.
Then one lady i had didnt have a checking account. only a savings. So on the paperwork my boss put someone elses account info in the paperwork then wanted me to send in a change of account form to block the other account. When she wanted to pay cash but didnt have the money yet. They wanted me to pay for her, then cash the check she would later give.

My friend was getting screwed over bad. so he decides he had enough. Once they saw me talking to him they started to hound me. I would get a couple dozen texts daily from them knowing where ever i was. I would be in the office. right there, and i would be getting asked where i was. When i would leave early. i was weak and not 100 percent in.
It was hell. do not waist the money there or your life. you never get it back. I worked 80 hours a week, and was still treated like crap. DOnt tell me i didnt work hard. I sold my soul to the company only to be told i couldnt go see my family and i was not committed to the job after i lost a family member to cancer.

I agree with most of these complaints I've read. I also received a strange phone call from a # I did'nt recognize, so I did'nt answer but instead attempted to call the # right back. No one anwered and there was no answering device to leave a message or at least find out who was trying to contact you. Instead, the caller left a message on my answering machine asking me to call them at a totally different #. I called that # to be greeted by a woman telling me that they viewed my resume on Career Builder's website and thought that I was perfect for what they were looking to hire. How they figure I was the right one I don't know. My resume indicates NOTHING about selling anything. My college degree says A.S. Private Investigations, not Insurance salesman. My interview is scheduled for today but thanks to your comments and complaints, that interview will be cancelled. Thanks again everybody.

I was suspicious about an unsolicited e-mail asking me to call a number because he had received my resume, I never sent one to them. I thought that perhaps, one of the recruiters sent my resume. His e-mail stated that he had a management position in his company, his signature looked to identify him as belonging to a recruiting agency, not an insurance company. Then during my call to him I was told that this person was in the 'corporate office' and that they would have one of the "hiring managers call me". A call from someone who identified themselves as a hiring manager with American Income Life Insurance seemed too much like a sales pitch. He claimed that the company was listed as one of the top 100 companies to work for on the Fortune 500 list and the #1 company to work for on Yahoo. I have not been able to verify this information. During our conversation I had already declined the invitation to interview, after reading these comments I am really glad that I followed my instincts.

You arent an employee of the compant, you're an independant contractor. Therefore, it's not AGAINST THE LAW!

Wow. I have been up, down, and around the internet for the last two hours checking up on American Income and I have to tell you, when it's 30 to 1 odds that you will find something bad on this company, it can't be a good sign. I recieved a call from them out of the blue earlier today and was told I had an interview. I am glad I decided to look them up. For one, I live pay check to pay check and don't have the money to even get started with them. Two, like most other corporations they lie, lie, lie to their employees. That is a huge reason I am looking for another job. I work with home depot and they treat their employees horrible. It's amazing the stuff these people can get away with. But there is another reason I am writing. Anyone can challenge me on this if they would like and I am sure you will. Truthfully I don't care though because I won't be back to read this. This is merely for the sake of the hard working American. Say you have a commision job and you work 65 hours a week but make only $5.50 an hour after it is all said and done (I live in CA where the minimum wage is $8.00/hr). YOUR EMPLOYER IS BREAKING THE LAW! You can contact the BBB or Labor Board and they will gladly sue the ### out of them and compensate you for your losses. An employer, no matter what you sign, no matter what your commission is has to at least pay you minimum wage for your work. If you work overtime, they have to pay you overtime (Unless you are paid a salary no less than 32, 000). They CANNOT make you put in the time and not pay you, NO MATTER WHAT! So, if you do work for this company in California and you are not making the commission but you are putting in the hours, they have to at least pay you for those hours, unless of course you are making more off the commission than you would minimum wage...even if it's only cents more. Don't forget to add your overtime. Anything over 40 hours is considered time and a half. Two, an employer HAS TO pay you 52 cents to the mile for any job related driving if the company does not insure your car under their own policy. If they are not, THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW! The reason I know all this is because I have had the opportunity of getting my hands on a CA Employers Handbook and have been to a few seminars on the laws and regulations on how employers must treat their employees. So, keep track of your hours people and the miles you put on your car between clients. Just a little heads up to help keep some of that money in your pocket. Oh, and as for not paying you for the training, well it sucks but they don't have to pay you. If you aren't on the books but you show up anyway, don't expect to get paid. That is your own fault. As long as their is no record of you being an employee, you are screwed when it comes to getting paid for the training. But, if you fill out a W4 and sign all the other crap that comes with getting hired onto a new job before the training and they still don't pay you, then THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW! Remember if they are doing any one of these three things contact the Labor Board or BBB, or both, and they will take care of the rest for you. It's sad to live in a world where every single job offer you get you have to look up and make sure it isn't a scam. I have had three job offers this week, and all three were scams. That's pretty sad. Whatever happened to being able to walk into a business and talking to people face to face? It was much simpler that way. If anyone wants to question my facts, look it up. You can find all of it here right on the internet. As for the other states, I am not so sure what the laws are on employee rights.

R Clement: How am I not supposed to take that as an insult? You pretty much said that I'm not an intelligent person. I would hate to hear what you have to say when you mean to insult someone! I understand what your saying but I guess I don't care! I'm doing whats right for me and I can give a ### what anyone else has to say about it. The point is that I didn't just jump into it. No one ever lied to me about what I was getting into. I knew what to expect. Just because this opportunity isn't for everyone doesn't mean people need to come on this site and bash AIL. This is not an easy job and it takes a lot of self discipline, self motivation and sacrifice. If someone doesn't possess those attributes then THEY WILL NOT MAKE IT! I'm an MGA for the company and I love what I do. I'm honest and up front with everyone I talk to. These comments ruin it for managers like me that are trying to build a team of honest, hard working people.

And your right for people like you life insurance isn't lucrative. But fortunately it is for me, maybe because I know how to sell it.

I see your comments on here all the time. Don't you have something better to do?

I hope you know that you don't have workers comp as a 1099 employee. I really hope you have E&O insurance as well, i'm not trying to start an argument but when I worked for AIL I didn't have that coverage. E&O is very important, if you don't have it please look into getting it because you will be held liable in Court if you are charged with anything-all sales people should have E&O insurance but AIL never told me that. ALso, many agencies provide expense accounts, in fact most do. Learn a little more about insurance and you can branch out and sell P&C products, life insurance really isn't that lucrative. Try and become a broker if you are serious in your industry. As someone who worked for AIL, I realized I didn't know anything when I was with them but I took that experience as a stepping stone onto much bigger things! I promise you AIL is not a good place for any intelligent person to work. If you are a former convict or have very little education (not trying to be insulting, seriously) then it may be a good thing for you because of the limits of obtaining a better job somewhere else. Do not limit yourself to AIL if you have an education and a clean record!

Lauren- I love it how people come on this site and bash a company they know so little about! I am one of those "dedicated employees" and I make more then 10.00 an hour. In fact my first year with the company I cleared 75K. Instead of wasting your time talking about things you have no idea about, spend it looking for a job. Oh and please tell me what insurance company provides a cell phone, car and a lap top. I am in business for myself it's not AIL's job to provide that stuff for me. Every company is different. AIL does great things for the families we work with. How do we use a "ruse" to get into people's homes? Buy giving them free stuff that their family will use? Yeah I can see how that's a ruse! Do you know some of the unions we work have NO health care? So the things we're able to provide is all they have. I am proud to work for this company!

First of all Cindy, if you are a true recruiter, you would know that people do NOT have to put graduation dates on resumes. Do you know the reason why? It is to prevent discrimination based on age. But being the successful HR person that you are, you knew that I'm sure, but would like to know peoples ages so it would save you time from calling high school students and or other parties who don't meet certain "criteria".

I can't believe how many people from that company respond to my resume indicating that I have skills to sell. I get at least 1 e-mail a day. ROFLMAO - I have never been, nor will I ever go into sales. These people don’t read your resume. They select everyone on the page, send out a “mass e-mail” and move on to the next page. Being a recruiter I have access to all job board postings and can review resumes. Mass e-mails are unprofessional and not personalized. It takes about 10 minutes to send out 100 letters. It’s a numbers game for them. Throw out a line and leave in the water long enough you’ll eventually get a bite.

No one should ever pay someone to find them a job or maintain their job. If you are really interested in insurance sales, yes you have to have training and licensure which cost money up front. However, reputable companies provide, cell phones, laptops, toll free numbers, business cards, license reimbursement, some even provide company cars and/or car allowances and/or mileage reimbursement. They don't use a "ruse" to get into peoples homes either.

I'm sure if you deducted the mileage, wear and tear on the car, the cell phone bill, number of hours worked per week, etc., (are employees covered by workers comp if they are involved in a car accident on the way to a client or sales call?) you would see there is not that much money to be made. The dedicated employees would see they are making about $10.00 hr. You can make that in retail sales and get commission on top without having to drive all over town and work 65 hours a week.

Get a real insurance job with a reputable company. Any company that cannot answer all your questions on the phone doesn't deserve your time or your skills. The next thing is they would want you making those same calls to people to get them in the door.

I see more and more resumes come through with no graduation dates, no completion of anything and when we call 9 times out of 10 the person has been out of highschool at least 5 years and graduated. A resume is supposed to be a document to impress possible employers to want to make them call you. Most can not even type a sentence without spelling errors. We all make mistakes, but have someone double check your work. I work for AIL and we take our recruiting very seriously. We review each and every resume before we contact that person and we do not contact everyone. I do not call anyone that can not complete a template on monster or career builder. It is amazing how many people believe what they read. I guess that is why so many people don't have a career or a job and their resumes have been posted for over 6 months. Stuck at the same place and still trying to get out? An interview wheather good or bad is not a waste of time, but consider it a learning experience. If you don't take a chance and experience how will you ever know if that was for you or not? Just because I read a book does not mean I can write a book or could I. Never know unless I try.

American Income Life Insurance company

I just read this blog about american income life and was totally amazed by the lack of truth to the whole situation. After reading this blog, i went and did my own research and found that american income life is the fastest growing insurance company in the world. They are in all 50 states and 17 countries abroad. The have been in business since 1924 and have never done any advertising. They supply life and health insurance to labor union, credit unions, and large associations. They have been doing this for over 56 years and have an a+ superior ratiing with am best. Which is the highest rating an insurance company can have based upon market share and customer service. Sounds pretty strong to me! Jonathan obviously wasn't listening very well when he went through the interviews because it is one of the biggest selling points that the managers talk about. No other company in the world has grown this fast, this large, with no advertisment. This company has provided these benifits to the police, firefighters and labor unions for 56 yrs with little to no complaints.

Also i went on insure.com and pulled down individual life insurance and found that american income life was ranked 3rd in the state of colorado with over 756 companies in the state!

I don't believe that jonathan really did any homework. I believe that jonathan was not hired and is very upset about loosing the opportunity and now has spent all of his time whinning about it to the public.

There is a reason that american income life does a 3 phase interview process and that is to find the top 10% of the best out there and not hirer losers like jonathan!

No comapany in the world could be as strong as american income life is without be a great comapny and never have to advertise. All of their business comes from referrals and if your not doing a great job and providing an outstanding service your not going to make it in todays times.

I think the success of american income life speaks volumes for itself!

This place has terrible management and expect you to work your a** off. Even after giving notice and completing my two weeks they kept my commission check and I've now filed a complaint with the Labor Board. Stay far away there are many legitimate companies to work for with excellent ratings. Believe all crap reviews because I worked here...terrible company

I interviewed with them 3 times and was told there would be continuous training and you would always have the support from trainer's and managers Ha! What a joke my trainer was arrested and in Jail for 2 days, I was passed around like a yo-yo . I was also told that there was base pay. I never did understand the payouts of bonuses I think they did that on purpose. If you want to work NON stop trying to make appointments and use your gas trying to make it to appointments only to be stood up. I was always honest about showing them benefits that where what we sold to the police unions and the child safe kits were legit.. I think the policies were good, it was just the greediness of the managers and the weekly expectations from agents that made this company bad, they bring people in like herds of cattle and if you are not prime they kill you off, Just Be honest about hiring policies Tell people there is NO base pay.

I wouldn't have any complaints against them, except that I responded recently to a job advertisement looking for a customer service representative. That's what I do. I don't do outside sales--nothing wrong with it--it's just not my thing. they called me back...and it was for an outside sales position. The guy I talked to was very nice and said it was listed as customer service and called such "because that's part of it, but most of your job would be setting your appointments and going out on sales calls." Again, I have nothing against outside sales: when done ethically, it's legitimate work. What I dislike is that they felt a need to misrepresent the position. Why, in this crappy job market, would a well-established company like this one feel a need to blatantly lie in a job ad? It left a very bad taste in my mouth that they would do this.

Let me make clear again: they did not contact me out of the blue, stating honestly what the job was and saying they thought my skills would be a good fit. They posted an ad for what they said was a Customer Service position in an office setting, and I responded with that in mind. It's like hiring someone to deliver pizza, but you maybe deliver once a week ad the rest of the time you spend running errands for the manager.

I interviewed with the company and common sense told me you have to have a license to sell insurance. I looked at the cost of going to school to do this and taking the test. Way more than what they charge. This was not a scam. No you won't make money at first you need some clients. You are not as someone previously posted cold calling strangers. You call current clients who have not had an agent visit them in over 6 months to 1 or more years. You don't get gas money. This is a career change and they can train you and give you the leads. It was not for me as most of the hours are evening and weekends days and nights when families are at home together. It is hard work and takes time to build yourself up and make money. It is not a scam it is real.

I showed up for an interview, on time and well-prepared. The suite I was to go to didn't exist, the company was not listed in the directory even though it was the exact address I was given. I waited in the lobby assuming that someone would direct me to the new meeting space (The original one was under construction and had yet to be assigned a number) and no one ever came to greet or meet me so I left.

So I recieved a call from this company saying that my resume fits what they are looking for. The whole point of me looking for a new career is so that I can make more money to give my kids the things I never had. But why would I pay money to make money? That takes the purpose out of it. Im hearing from more people than not that this is a scam. If I had $750 to just throw around I would not be sitting here looking for a new career choice. I would be on vacation. I think I have seen and heard enough to know that I will not be calling them back. Glad I was on here first. Nate, Denver CO

Funny thing, my resume on CB reads that I was a school custodian for years and then a nurse aide. They call me up and tell me I would be a good fit for them after reading my resume, HUH? Really. I can go from cleaning toilets, cleaning rear ends to selling ins. Wow, only in America.

Then one couple was from a shut down office and forgotten about. They called every number they had and they were forgotten. I felt so horrible for them i met with them, told them about their policies and left. THen was yelled at for not selling more to them. They didnt need it. In order to meet with the future clients you are told not to tell them you are trying to sell insurance. You are told to tell them they have an accidental death benefit that they are entitled to for whatever reason and child safe kits (a brochure and ink strip) and a health services dicount card that i tried to find local providers. Closest one. harrisburgh. I live in pittsburgh. I get there are explain the benefits and then tell people i will use an expert simulator thats uses 3% of their net pay.

They have a terrible turn over rating. because it is impossible to work for a place that does lie.

If my bosses are sooo rich and the MGAs are soooo wealthy. then why did they all live together. If they did not play football together. I doubt they would be where they are.

For all of you posting on this page whether pro or con for AIL, the claims of the salary that you can make is not worth the trouble working for them anyway. Come on, $800.00 to $1200.00 a week, that is nothing after taxes and all your other misc. deductions. You can’t raise a family or lead a decent life on that kind of income. Most of AIL’s employees couldn’t even pay my mortgage note with their entire monthly paycheck, much less all the other things that it takes to survive. Also I have not heard any responses on retirement plans, 401K, medical insurance, dental insurance or any other benefit that is offered to their employees. If this is such a good company, I would think that the benefit packages would be a very lucrative one. The only reason I have taken the time to sit down and write this is because my son has fell for the “sales pitch” that AIL gives, not an interview. All I can say is that we all work for the same reason, to make money and survival. For all the young people that AIL recruits, if you are happy with $1000 a week, more power to you. You will find out pretty quick it takes more than that to live well.

American Income Life Insurance fraud & cheating!

I received a call from a Charles Byrd of American Income at my home. I was immediately suspicious for two reasons: he called from a cell phone and started asking questions about my child. He already had too much information about my family, and was trying to lure me in by offering to register my child with a "child safety kit". He offered to call back if I wanted to think it over, but I told him I would contact him with my decision. I went online to research the company, and found this site with quite a few complaints about this so-called Life Insurance company.

More than 90% of Americans do not have Life Insurance. They think that someone else is going to take care of thier Final Expenses for them. Truth be told. If you die, and do not have EVERYTHING already paid for, or a Life Insurance Policy in place, the burden of paying for your funeral gets passed onto your family and friends.
Most people try to get Insurance advise from thier friends, who know very little about the topic to begin with. Unless you sit down with a Licensed Insurance Professional, you are talking to the WRONG PERSON. Would you sit with your plumber and ask questions about your heart? Would you sit with an electrician and ask questions about your nervous system? Would you sit with a carpenter and ask questions about your skeletal structure? Then why do you ask those people, who are not licensed in, and educated about, LIfe Insurance questions? Don't set yourself up to fail and them blame it on the industry that you did not give a chance too. You are shown options. Nothing more. If you are forced into buying Life Insurance, then that is something that you allowed to happen, and is no one's fault but your own. No one can force you to buy life insurance.
Be smarter than this list of complaints is being. This is a list of those that like to complain about most everything in life that they do not take the time to understand. And because they don't understand it, they are affraid of it. This site is just a message board for people that want to complain about something that they have very little understanding of. For every 1 complaint, there is 100 affirmations as to how good something is. Be an intelegent consumer and look at creditable sites that show facts and not feelings.

I was contacted by an agent about the child safety kit. Which I had completely forgot about ordering. The agent who came to my home was very friendly and told me how to fill out the form. Which I could have done on my own! This kind of annoyed me, because I am disabled and had asked him several times if he could just mail it to me. He always answered "no because I have to show you how to fill out the forms and there is a questionnaire about how I did that you have to fill out." So, after the child paperwork, he brought out others, like the discount program, the free $1000 insurance, and a paper to list where all your valuables are for when you die. Then what really made me mad was he demanded I give him 5 other people's phone numbers, and how I knew them. It couldn't be 3 or 4, it had to be 5. First, he said (I forget how he said it exactly) it was for if my child ever got abducted the police would have numbers of people close to her, because they work with the police with the forms. Then he said, who can you think of that has little kids that would want the child abduction form, or who doesn't have insurance, that could use the discount product. Maybe someone who wears glasses? So, I gave him numbers, and told him that only one of them would be interested, and that I would have to call and tell them he would be calling. Then he took a picture with his cell phone. Which was weird! He never tried to sell me anything else! Thank goodness!
Like I said, he was nice. He also called from his cell phone, but working on the go, I guess you have to. Also, like I said, it annoyed me he couldn't/ wouldn't mail all of it to me! Because, I could have just mailed him back what he needed!

The only reason someone from AIL would contact you is if you were referred by a member (someone who knows you personally), you requested the information online, or you already have a policy or discount card. We work with over 20, 000 unions and associations including firefighters and police officers. Get your information straight before you go bash a company that provides service and helps protect the families of the working class. AIL is a life insurance company that provides free services like the child safety kits if you are referred. These agents spend their own gas money and take their own time to come out and do this without the guarantee of a sale. I'm sorry if anyone has dealt with a shady agent and I encourage you to report that person to the home office in Waco, TX. You are never obligated, however we are only able to make it out to see families once per year so you are encouraged to take advantage at that time IF YOU NEED THE COVERAGE. We wouldn't have contracts with the presidents of over 20, 000 unions and growing if this company were a "scam". Also, our PR rep just picked up a load of canned foods last week from my office in OKC, we are one of the largest contributors of food and that information can be researched.

I recently filled out the child safety kit form at my doctors office was contacted by someone to come here to explain information. He came here and sat for a couple hours as he went into the life insurance information I did sign up for the life insurance plan because we don't have any and it sounded good after sitting here for a couple hours but now I'm nervous Has anyone else ever signed up for the insurance. Is the insurance scam? Everything seems legit if u respond please say my name Erin so I know to look! Thank you

Erin, AIL is not a scam. I encourage you to visit your local office. Call your agent and ask to come to the location of business. We also pay out final expenses within 3 business days with the Freedom of Choice feature. Most companies take a few months. We also contact you once a year and send someone out to go over your coverage so you understand what you are paying for and how to make a claim. How many companies actually come see you after they sell you something? And if anyone hasn't seen an agent in over a year, call the company because that means either we have a bad phone number or you aren't listening on the phone long enough to know who is calling to check on you.

I came home from work to find two young gentlemen talking to my wife and her friend, taking our kids fingerprints. As soon as I walked in the gentlemen introduced themselves and were very friendly. I came to find out that our friend's sister referred her to AIL and they came to provide the Child Safe Kits. They were also here to try to sell insurance. HOWEVER, they were very low pressure and more informative. My family already has insurance through my employer and I simply said I don't want it - and that was it. Our friend did not. She took them up on the offer of one year free $2000 of AD & D insurance. After the first year it will cost $2 per year or up to $10 per year for $10000 of coverage. They very honestly said that they would like to get her to sign up for a larger individual policy sometime down the road, but there was no pressure to do so. The whole deal with their visit was to inform us about the insurance policies, but it was low pressure and fine to deal with. Additionally, they helped our families fill out the Child Safe Kit and they did NOT take any of our kid's information with them, only our (Adult's) names. I did not have a problem with them and I'm grateful that we now have the Child Safety Kit filled out. Naturally, I'm still a bit skeptical but I don't see any reason to be overly concerned.

Let's look at the rhetoric of "AIL Rep" (employee/shill) closely in some of his/her statements (note that this account only made one post as do most shill accounts). First one: "a handful of people that have complaints...". This is a major understatement as there are thousands, if not tens of thousands of complaints (American Income Life Horror Stories) posted online. Second one: "we are one of the top hiring companies in the U.S.": In the case of Torchmark/AIL, this is not something to be proud of. Just like a MLM or pyramid scheme, AIL agents typically last only a few months. AIL has to relentlessly hire and churn through victims just like any run of the mill Ponzi Scheme or Pyramid Scheme just to survive. Third: "working as an insurance agent can either be extremely rewarding, or extremely disappointing": for many new agents (if not almost all), working for AIL is a net money loser for their bank accounts. Fourth: "will experience success beyond their wildest imaginings". This phrase screams MLM, Pyramid Scheme, Ponzi Scheme and Scam - the kind of phrase typically tossed around by sociopaths and scam artists. This is scary stuff.

I like how you are telling AIL agents to stop TROLLING the internet looking for complaint boards when YOU are replying to every post... TELL IT HOW IT IS. I take it you didn't make the cut and are butt-hurt you couldn't make money and had to work for a company with a base salary? Am I right? 🤣 You feel great making all these posts about a company you know nothing about? Nothing you say will change my mind on that one. Do something with your life besides trolling websites and complaining about a company that you never worked for. If anyone wants to know about American income then go work for them. American income is international, been around 70yrs, even on the fraternal order of police website, AM BEST rated A+, BBB rated A+.

I have been working for American Income Life for over a year. With how many people we see on a daily basis, there are bound to be a handful of people that have complaints about our company. Also, we are one of the top hiring companies in the U.S. which means that many people have experienced working with us, and naturally not all of them are satisfied either.

The truth about being an insurance agent is that it is a very challenging job. Sure, there is no heavy lifting or physical labor involved, but it can be very mentally taxing.

The job that we do is 100% commission-based. We get paid for our results not for our time. That being said, working as an insurance agent can either be extremely rewarding, or extremely disappointing; so it's not going to be a job for everyone.

Because this job requires a strong commitment, sometimes long work hours, persistence, and dedication, many people find they do not have the discipline and fortitude to really make life insurance a career.

Luckily, those few who do possess those qualities will have a very successful career at American Income and will experience success beyond their wildest imaginings.

Our agents, and more importantly our management team, continues to strive to have a positive impact on the communities we serve and to help make our clients' lives better. Although just like with any other company that hires a lot of people, despite our best efforts, not every agent that we hire and train always uses the best business practices.

For example, there are scripts that are issued by our home office which guide us in what we ought to be saying and should be followed at all times to ensure that we are representing ourselves correctly and conducting ourselves professionally. Not all agents use the script approved by the home office and therefore use deceptive tactics to sell insurance to families. Unfortunately, that is something that cannot be helped.

We have 3 main ways in which we will see a family:
1. They are part of a union, credit union, or association that has contracted with American Income.
These folks are our bread and butter and our #1 priority. They are very reliable consumers, and it's our job to make sure that we explain everything to them and help them understand both their group benefits and the additional benefits if they qualify.

2. You are a friend, family member, or coworker of a union member.
One of the best parts of our job is that we make sure that all of your friends and family members have an opportunity to be protected as well! With the permission of our union members or existing clients, we will extend the opportunity for their loved ones to receive the same excellent benefits that we provide for their group. We give our members time to contact their loved ones and tell them about the great benefits, and then we follow up with a quick phone call to find out if they would like to set an appointment.

3. We provide No-Cost Child Safe Kits to families.
While our main focus is on seeing our union members and the sponsored family members, AIL has made an effort to extend their benefits even further by offering child safe kits at no cost. This is not meant to be deceptive in any way!

If you encounter a box where you request these kits, our logo is clearly indicated on the box, the card that is to be filled out, and explains that there are additional benefits being offered. People sometimes feel scammed by this because they don't read what they are filling out and the agent they spoke to wasn't using the approved phone script which both: identifies our company as being "American Income Life Insurance Company" and explaining that our job is to "drop them off and explain how they work and go over other available benefits, " which in addition to the free kits we are providing includes free life insurance for a year and discounts on some of your medical, as well as a needs based analysis to see if you can qualify for additional life insurance. I think that's fantastic because non-union families almost never get to see these benefits!

In conclusion, the career opportunity at American Income is real, but it is not a job well-suited for just anyone. You must be able to be self-motivated, disciplined, organized, and goal-oriented. Also, American Income is a great company to do business with. While it can be difficult to ensure that every client has the same experience because of how agents implement their business practices, the Management, PR, and the Company are constantly dedicated to ensuring a positive experience with our company and to ensure that we help families understand the benefits being offered so that they can properly protect their families.

www.ailife.com They are A+rated by AM Best and traded on NYSE Tourchmark not for everyone but legitimate company with millions of members. I am sorry some of you have had bad experiences or skeptical about the Company. No insurance company goes to your home and delivers no cost benefits and provides a needs based analysis life the AIL Agent. Our main objective is to deliver the no cost benefits to Union members, Associations, Credit Unions(not all of them) and friends n family that they want to sponsor. The child safety kit is the one way the general public can request the benefits as well. Each person will receive a $2, 000 accidental policy, medical discount card, child safety kit and a needs based analysis. We want to educate the members of the groups and deliver the no cost benefits on an annual basis because each year the circumstances may change from home to home. I hope this helps and those of you reading do not have anything else negative to say.

American Income Life Insurance employer scam!

First, I (and many others) were told that we would have a guaranteed income for six months. After devoting weeks, sometimes months, to training without pay, we were then told we would only get the guarantee if we sold a certain amount, but just a few weeks later, even the required amount was raised. Conveniently, the commission on the new required amount is more than the guarantee promised. So, there is NO guarantee.

Another ploy used to get employees signed on was to promise an office job 2-3 days a week to anyone who wasn't comfortable working strictly in the field on commission. I had that promise made to me several times, as did others I have talked to, but the position never evolved. In fact, AIL gets free office help by telling their agents they will not be considered for management unless they donate time to the office.

Then, we were promised we would always get new union and association leads, that there were thousands of new leads coming in weekly and that we would never be responsible to generate our own leads. Then, a few weeks into it, we were told we would only get 100 leads per month. Then, this fell down to 50 leads per month. Then, the truth fell out - we are responsible to generate our own referrals and no new leads are guaranteed after the first few weeks of being out in the field.

This would be bad enough, but adding to this is the fact that nearly all the new leads given to new reps were gone over by the RGA, who cherry picked the 'good' ones before passing the ones she couldn't contact or, found to be disqualified on to the new reps. This was evident when on booking nights, many of us would call on our precious leads only to be told that she had contacted them just the week before and had told her they weren't interested and not to contact them again.

Even worse, was the fact that we all found ourselves driving miles to make a presentation off of our 'fresh leads' often to find out that another company agent had been there just days or, weeks before.

Making our lives more difficult was the fact that we could never pin our manager down to meeting times. We were always told, maybe, Monday but she never was sure of the time and then, 1-2 hours before we were suppose to be there, she would call saying, 'an hour.' Many of us had to drive an hour to get there so, this was ridiculous and seemed purposely done so, as it never changed week after week, no matter how many of us asked for more advance notice.

In our office, it was not unusual for new employees to be hired over the phone without even a face to face meeting. This now seemed to be happening so the hiring agent could collect her new hire pay and NO support was given to these new hires, making their investment in a ALTIG 'career' futile at best.

Making things worse still was the fact that we were told NOT to explain our policies fully, not to go into any provisions or, detail or, legalities. This led to many of us being faced with policy owners who had been misled by the oversimplification of ALTIG products given upon their sale.

On top of all of this - getting paid is never assured. Not only can it take weeks to get your first paycheck after making your first sale (and after spending weeks/months in training without pay), but thereafter, you may see weeks that your check simply doesn't show without as much as a 'sorry.'

The manager who was handling the office throughout all of this is one that has worked for years, one of their 'star' producers and has opened many offices for them and it is hard to believe the company is not fully aware of all of these problems and abuses.

I STRONGLY URGE ANYONE WHO IS CONSIDERING GOING TO WORK FOR THIS COMPANY TO CUT THEIR LOSSES BY NOT CONSIDERING!

American Income Life Insurance poor service!

I've been looking online lately for complaints about American Income Life. That is the life insurance company that deals with present union workers and past ones also. The point is... I wanted to make sure people heard this concern for people this year.

American Income is not like the other insurance companies. They make you believe you are so important and need to work for this company. In fact when I worked for them, the same company in another city didn't even know I was working for them and tried to recruit me for American Income... the same company tried to recruit me for the same company!

Anyway, I want everyone to know they just want bodies. Bodies that will work for them free for 12 hours a day. Calling people to book appointments. You have to book appts each Monday and Thurs from 4pm till 9pm. 7 a day is what they want. There are no excuses why you can't or won't. The worst was when my husband was hurt and needed me, I had to have a meeting with the boss who gave me the third degree. The worst was when my kids had a concert at school and all I got was, "Can't someone else go instead of you"? It wasn't a request, it was a demand! That was it. No more of 12 hours a day..no more, "What happened why didn't you sell the appt" I wasn't going to be bullied anymore from a company that didn't pay me except when I sold the appt. I didn't get gas money nor mileage. I knew I was selling insurance but I thought insurance people sell where ever they are. Whether at home or at the office. This company wants you at the office twice a week to be at a meeting and book appts as I said.

If anyone calls you and says, "We say your resume on Monster, you qualify for management at American Income" HANG THE PHONE UP FAST! Don't waste money going to the interview, especially getting your temp insurance license. They only want bodies to make more money for them!

We have had several representatives calling us. We tell them to remove us from their call list and they refuse to. They say we are on a review list. It's different numbers each time.

I actually an a past policy holder and I had to end up filing a complaint with the BBB to get the issue fixed. I purchased a policy, they drafted my checking account religiously, but they never sent me a policy ever. I called and cancelled the policy and they continued to draft my account the next month. A rip off!

Wow i can't believe I just wasted my time reading sentences from uneducated lazy individuals who don't have anything better to do than complain about something they don't seem to understand. wow. Then again, I must be just as bad because I am a policy holder along with my Uncle who was in the military for 23 years, along with my Grandmother and Mother...and none of us have anything bad to say about AIL.

In fact, I had a coworker decide not to continue with the company anymore ( she was in college) and they cancelled it on the spot with no questions asked and no fees.

DO we all really want to be complainers when something doesn't go exactly how we wanted or thought it would? No business or person is perfect and not one company can fit everyone- ever!

What gave you the impression that these complaints are from employees that couldn't make it as insurance agents? Regardless, why would you want to be associated with a company that treats its employees in this manner anyway? If you weren't such a ###, you would know how and where to get information on Insurance companies regarding claims paying abilities, solvency, ratings, etc.

I have been looking all over the internet for complaints about AIL, but all I find is employment complaints. I do not find any complaints from consumers about the company. Do they pay their claims promptly or do they pay at all. How easy is it to cancel a policy. I would like to see more complaints from consumers who have purchased their policies then from employess who could not make it as an insurance agent.

We signed up for American income partners insurance and got our insurance card just to find out that all the, Dentist and Chiropractic, eye and ear care are all out of town and not one of them is listed near us, what a SCAM! only 2 Pharmacies are listed in which we do not care to associate with! Sorry just another Scam for us union members and retires In my opinion do not bother with it!
