I was always willing to pay more because of the Allstate reputation and experiences. The human element of error has resulted in contradictions in the interpretation, comprehension and perception of policy, process, procedures, laws and rules that has resulted in a rainbow of excuses and bureaucracy. My respect for the institution of Allstate and their reputation is in the toilet. The staff is dismissive, disrespectful, adjustors (proof) will LIE, STEAL AND CHEAT TO DENY, DELAY AND LOW-BALL policy holders who, without them, there would exist NO ALLSTATE, no jobs, no salary. When you don't fall in line and succumb, disagree or challenge their dictatorship then, want to retaliate, including escalating to the supervisor is a joke.
Even sadder, our local, state and federal political representatives don't care, listen or hear the consumers. This includes (TX DEPT INS) Insurance board doesn't care and are not going to do anything to go against their industry and paychecks. The BBB did act in assisting the best interest of the policy holder with a complaint. However, it appears, from experience, Allstate will respond enough to keep an A-A++ rating even though, and when all of their reviews are in the toilet. ?
The insurance companies are a monopoly, dictate how much you must insure your property for, in future value, and determine the deductibles regardless of if you file claims or not, if and when and how much THEY will pay as an indemnity insurance, not a layaway plan. Perhaps, I'm too old school because my generation, and those that glutton the profits, believed insurance was purchased to minimize the financial burden on a homeowner if, and when a sudden, unexpected, emergency and catastrophic event occurs.
The insurance industry should adopt policies relative to the masses and make adjustments for those that need to be addressed and stop passing inclusive changes that affect the masses but, respective of regions, demographics, and expectations. You only punish the masses for the actions of an identifiable few and eventually, it will catch up with you. The smaller, sub companies and the animals, Elephant, Zebra, GEICO are sounding better every day because at least you know what to expect. Oddly enough, I know of homeowners who have left popular Allstate and had better luck when coverage was needed.
