American Income Life Insurance review: agent farming

Got a call at 4:30pm from a Concord, CA company (AIL) regarding my resume on Monster, which is an odd hour to be recruiting I'm thinking. Said they had an opening for a union representative position working with union members helping them understand their member benefit options during open enrollment & make any changes at that time. Base + incentives, employee F/T, matching retirement, med., dental, union (clerical) membership required.
So, I go to the interview which took 10 min. when I'm offered the job. Yah hoorah! Schedule next week to fill out employee paperwork. I'm ready to start my new job. Next week I'm back and 4 hrs later I've had a independent employee contractor agreement to scrutinize over, expected to sign. A presentation in the conference room given by someone I'd never met who grumbled about having to give the presentation, proceeded to rush through it and back to the interview office only to have to man excuse himself, leaving me with his assistant who tried to register me at a school for insurance ( which I had already attended 10 yrs ago). I had 2 specific area's of concern with the lengthly contract for which I had questions, explaining why I had not yet signed. This was clearly a problem. The women tried to address my concerns, realized she couldn't and didn't know who to call or what to do really. Not comforting. Finally she found someone and I ended up signing the dam thing even though I wasn't fully satisfied with the answers I got but hay I need the job. We schedule to start work a few weeks later. During which time I'm to attend school & schedule for test.
Just before I pay for the schooling I call the office to make sure we have a green light and Ms Assist say the home office has to approve my application. " Is that right ! " I say. Good thing I called before I paid for school, isn't it.
You know I haven't heard from them since. I have no idea what these people are doing or think they're doing but I pretty sure they won't be doing it long.
Now remember, I'm under contract with this Corp. I haven't decided just what I'm going to do yet. This screams TORT !
