price rip offs. poor customer service.
I am writing to complain about the inflated prices that Woolworths places on its grocery lines. Even their specials are based on over inflated prices to try and fool customers that the are getting value for money. How often are Woolworths going to continue same package size but less weight . How often do customers have to put up with bad mannered checkout staff? who appear to have the skills and speed of a Sloff? I do not blame the checkout staff, I blame middle management in their inadequate training of staff, but ultimately it is the CEO of Woolworths.Woolworths is on the path of falling behind the other Supermarkets in its sales unless it identifies that the customer is the most important person to make Woolworths a successfull Business. Remember the people at the coal front, that is where money will be made. In closing i am so pleased to have competition where i live . Aldi will eventually place Woolworths where it belongs.
customer service
To the store manager (Kylie or Wayne);
I would like to bring to your attention two similar incidents at your Woolworths store in Mossman North Queensland, which from my perspective was a case of very poor customer relations. On the morning of July 14, 2016 I went to your store to report being overcharged for an item (Sara Lee Apple Crumble 600g). The item had been marked down 50%, but I realized on arriving home I had been charged full price. The initial customer service assistant was helpful and called another woman (Tania) who would seem to have had responsibilities in the “Refrigeration Section”. That person said she had no knowledge of the item in question being marked down. Another person was called who did recall the item was marked down. A fourth person came along and joined the group. By now Ms (Tania) was insisting that the item was not even stocked in that area, and furthermore she said I could see that there was none of the said item on display and that other Sarah Lee products were one shelf lower. While there was no item of that nature there at that time, although I am aware that shelves are often being rearranged to accommodate products, I was able to show how it was on the top shelf and how I had to climb up to get to it as it was stuck to the shelf with ice. But Ms(Tania) then went on to exclaim she did not lie; all this while I stood quietly wondering how such a simple matter could have turned into something so complex. As nothing was being resolved apart from attracting the attention of other customers, I asked to see the manager and was told there was only an acting manager (Wayne). I subsequently saw that manager apparently not wanting to talk to me, but instructing the (original) service assistant to refund my money. This was done and the matter was solved after a process and no apologies that left me wondering as to why I should continue shopping at that store. But then three days later in the same store, (July 24), I purchased, among other things, a packet of potato chips that were advertised half price. Again I was charged full price, although this time my money was returned with the explanation that someone had wrongly priced. Collectively, these incidents spanning just a week suggest to me there are significant issues in that store, and that the Coles and IGA options in nearby Port Douglas may be better shopping alternatives.
tried to resell item I had half eaten!
I bought a couple of frozen yoghurts from Woolworths St Kilda, and found that both had been badly freezer-burnt. I had tried one of them anyway thinking it may still be alright but spat it back into the container when I tasted it. I took both back to the shop to get a refund; they apologised, and said they would get rid of it straight away, and that was that. I returned to the shop later that evening (for something else) and found they were trying to resell those same items - you can even see the fork mark I made in it! I wouldn't say i'm particularly disease-prone but seriously what does that say about their care for customers? Zero. Absolutely disgusting.
I agree that this certainly shouldn't happen but let's hope to god it was a simple mistake and wasn't done intentionally. Although extra care should be done to avoid this
They certainly should not have returned them to the shelf, but it could have been an innocent error. The person doing the return is not the dairy associate, so the dairy person may not have known the item had been opened. Aside from that, neither container looks like you 'tasted it and spat it back in'. It looks like you ate half of each.
Store service & workers
This store is always a bit untidy and doesn't feel clean, the deli staff are the rudest and they refuse to write the time their chickens are cooked on the bags (like every other store does)
I asked for chicken breasts from the deli and the boy got them fully wrapped them and then put them on the scale to weigh them and price them, when I said that's not right he become very defensive and said " that's how we all do it".
I said no you have to weigh then wrap, he then become very arrogant and threw the breasts back in the cabinet and started again.
You have to watch the scanners because products on special do not always scan right.
Over all this store just feels like it is poorly managed, under staffed, unclean & really needs some staff training.
Patties party pack...
My elderly mum received the woolworths food catalogue the other day and was excited about a product which was on half price sale, as she is a pensioner and has trouble paying the full price of $13.50. Any way went to obtain this product, only to be told that it was not half price in this store. What we are angry about is the fact that if our local store is not part of the promotion, why do we still get the brochures delivered in the area
tobacco
Approximately 6 months ago i purchased a 30 gram pouch of 'Old Holborn' tobacco from the Walkerville Woolworths Store. Upon opening said tobacco later at home i found the tobacco to be bone dry not semi moist as it normally is. So dry in fact it was un smokeable . Taking it back to the store i was fobbed off rudely and told once it's opened we can't do anything. So angry was i, and knowing the tobacco was of no use to me i left it with the attendant and said thanks for nothing, vowing never to return, which i have adhered to, to this day ! Anyway today my brother visited me and on his way i had asked him to buy me some 'tobacco', not thinking he might go to the Walkerville Woolworths, which ofcourse he did. And lo and behold, same thing ' Old Holborn' tobacco dry as old boots- unsmokeable ! Ofcourse i reimbursed him, but very angry again. $60 plus down the toilet. Not sure why this is, 'old stock', whatever, all i know is i'm not happy with this situation. Never buying tobacco from Woolworths (especially Walkerville ) ...grrrrr
I understand this being frustrating, but it is not Woolworth's fault. It is indeed illegal for them to refund customers the price of smokes once the product has been opened. They do not control how dry or moist the product is either. The people you need to be contacting is Old Holborn itself. They are the only ones who can resolve this issue for you.
Not sure of the law in Australia, but here you can not return opened tobacco.
market value 10 burgers $9 per pack barcode [protected]
On the evening of the 26th june approx 5.30pm I purchased 10 burgers pre made market value from woolworths ashmore park the cost being $9. When I got home which is less than 1km from the store and began to prepare hamburgers for dinner I was unable to separate each individual pattie there was two stacks of 5 patties which were more or less compacted together and even though I tried to delicately separate each one it just became a huge mess of mashed meat and they did not represent a hamburger pattie at all.The meat was gluggy and stuck to your hands and literally you had to mould and reshape them as best you could.I recommend that each layer should be lined with waxed or baking paper type dividers so as to not become attached to each other and still represent a hamburger that you intended to buy.It was rather disappointing but a hungry family prevailed and they ate it regardless of its appearance.Unfortunately I would probably not purchase this item in the future just for the sheer effort involved to resurrect the humble hamburger pattie.
Service
Its great that the store has had a refit but it would be great if the 15 items or less lane had staff at it so you did not have to go to a big lane with a small shop. Also Jay one of the managers there needs to improve his customer service. I was stood at the cigarette counter waiting to be served. He was busy with another staff member on the laptop/computer. Neither of them even looked up to see if anyone needed serving. Even a wont be a moment would have sufficed.
westfield marion bakery department
I have a compliment not a complaint... I ordered my daughters 21st birthday cake through your Bakery store at westfield Marion Adelaide... right from the start Vicki was so helpful and nice I had a follow up phone call about a problem that could arise and thanx to your bakery team a disaster was avoided... I had so many people compliment me on the cake and the event coordinator said it was the best birthday cake she had ever seen.. over the years I have tried a few Woolworth stores but I now go out of my way to go to marion because they are the best where cakes are involved.. A huge thank you to Vicki and team for delivering great service and product once again
soup
Over the past few months, my family have greatly enjoyed the fresh 'Chicken & Vegetable Soup" as well as the fresh 'Chicken & Sweetcorn Soup'.
However, over the past few weeks we have found the soups are completely devoid of any of the chicken which was evident in the prior months.
Why do you spoil a product which was once a 'complete meal'?
Do you want people to stop purchasing the product?
I am very disappointed. A recent promo offered the soup at 2 for $12 - don't you consider that for this price, that some chicken should be evident in the product?
product overcharge/ aggressive worker behaviour
to whom it may concern.
dear sir/madam on 19.6.16 at 1:35 we were cheated by berala woolworths for overcharging for two products ( this has happened many times in different branches such as lidcombe, berala and auburn because they would over charge us on 2 or more products so you can imagine how much money they are making by cheating people.) when we went to the customer service table to discuss this matter the worker there's name was vatsal and he his body language and behaviour towards solving this problem was very unhelpful and aggressive. so i told him that i will take this matter further he said dont threaten me like he was woolworths. so we told him to call the supervisor he was very angry and upset to call her over. when she came over her name was rameeta and she said that it was a human being mistake( by the way everytime this happens no matter where we are they would say it was a human being mistake if it was the cashier or a computer mistake if we went to machines they would always have excuses ) they charged us $2 for one of the products even though the reduced price was $1.49 and the original price was $2.98 . they would always have the benefit of the mistake it was never a lower price mistake than the reduced or original price it was always a higher price mistake. this has been occuring for many decades and we did not know until one of my friends told me about this. i also have my sons as witnesses aged between 13-18n yrs old so they would know about being a witness. my email is [protected]@hotmail.com, adress : 15 antwerp st auburn nsw and my phone number: [protected]. p.s we couldn't send files of the bill or products

management
If you are wondering why sales figures are down at woolworths hermit park townsville, your management are the rudest people that I have come across in all of my 50 years in the service industry. My business spends easily $30000 per year there and myself and many others are going elsewhere. The staff there feel intimidated and uncomfortable and it is plain to see from consumers like me. After 22 years of loyalty to you I now feel obliged to take my business elsewhere. I believe the managers name is John as I once tried to introduce myself to him only to receive a blank stare .
I always find it amusing how people think they can control whether someone shops somewhere. So he gave you a blank stare. Who introduces themselves to a store manager anyway? I don't care who works where. I go to the store to buy my stuff, not make friends.
homebrand nappies
a week ago i bought a packet of homebrand nappies for my toddler, they were the walker size.
after using them twice my son has serious nappy rash from the edges of the nappy and also running from the front to the back of his body that was inside the nappy.
It took me 3 days of using cream and different nappies to clear the nappy rash.
I am very unimpressed with these nappies and rather unhappy with the way it caused my son to have such bad nappy rash.
I know it was the nappies, as the new type of nappies i am using do not cause any problems
application for work
Hi my name is Rebecca I'm just wondering what else I can do to get a job through Woolworth as I'm a mum of 2 trying to find work. I have applied for more than 10 jobs just this year at all different stores and different positions but I always get knocked back. I know it's not my hours as I can work all the time just not early mornings but I never apply for those hours anyway. I get this not just from you it's also coles which I know with them it's because of my age which is discrimination against me and I really hope you guys aren't doing the same.
Regards
A very angry mum
Maybe you aren't up to their standards? And applying for ten jobs in a year... that's hardly anything! I know of plenty of people who apply for about 30 jobs a month and it still took them months to get a job. It's not meant to be easy.
manager at kogarah woolworths
I was just checking to see if Woolworth's had my eyeliner in stock and they didn't so I proceeded to leave, before being abruptly stopped by a middle-aged lady wearing a black cardigan, blond hair, possibly a manager. She then accused me of stealing a can of red bull I was clearly drinking before walking into the store. I felt extremely attacked by this woman as she made me open my bag and put her hands inside and has a bit of a 'rummage' around. Upon seeing that I had nothing stolen, she went on to say that I had to declare everything that was sold at Woolworth's in my possession - including a bottle of water that was from Coles. I was extremely offended and dumbfounded and as I was leaving the store, she yelled out after me, "It's people like you who steal". This comment left me feeling extremely outraged as I obviously had not been stealing and continued to publicly humiliate me. Hopefully some action will be taken against this because this hasn't been the first time I've witnessed her treat a customer this way.
I find the kogarah store okay maybe they should try Rockdale plaza or the pathetic one @ jannali that doesn't have anything! My old corner shop stocks more than jannali and that's a fact!
You guys think kogarah store is bad? Try Rockdale plaza or worse Woolworths @ jannali! It's pathetic!
Today, at check out a lady name "Binitha" looks like nepalese, was very rude bad attitude. I was at the self check out till and got stuck because I had a gift card purchase. The tone and her body language was like I dont want to be here, not even smiling. I wonder if these people have any customer service training provided before starting the job.
No wonder with the above comments, if the manager is racist bully then subordinates will be worse. I hope the management is reading this comment and takes action.
Yes, I have felt racially profiled and targeted with overzealous checking of my Aldi shopping bags there recently. I won’t step foot in the place ever again.
I know who you are talking about. That lady in black cardigan still works there and yes she is the customer service manager. She is rude, disrespectful and carry racial hatred. I just experienced it recently.
Wow, this is horrible and I am so sorry. If anything like this ever happens again (and I hope it doesn't) make sure you inform them that they are allowed to look in your bag but they under no circumstances are allowed to touch it. This is in fact illegal and against the stores policy. The stores policy also states that you are not allowed to accuse someone of stealing unless they are 100% certain you did. Definitely not right what she did and I can guarantee you that this is NOT what Woolworths teaches their staff to do
Woolworths has more than enough money to bend all the policies and that’s what they do at all times.
Bag searches.
I spend most of my wages on food and goods from Woolworths and I don't appreciate my bag being searched by a 14 year old with an after school job or anyone for that matter. If a person is not acting suspiciously what right do people have to search my bag?
I wouldn't mind my bag being searched in a private area by security.
Whenever this happens again I will refuse to by the goods at the till and shop somewhere else.
By the way I am a 52 yr old fly in fly out nurse. Not a troublemaker or thief.
You will notice that at the entrance of every store there is a sign stating that once you enter the store, Woolworths has the right to check your bags, and that if you refuse to have your bag checked, you will likely be asked to leave the store immediately afterwards. A quick one second look shouldn't be any hassle to anyone is innocent. So please try and help out so that Woolies can capture the true thieves which in essence helps you out as they can then bring prices back down if there is less theft
checkout - putting heavy vegetables with soft, fruit and veg in the same bag
Today, having spent a fair amount of time shopping in the local store, something I do every week and somewhere where I spend thousands of dollars doing each year, I had separated the items into logical groups on the conveyor belt to help the checkout attendant. Found that she had started to put heavy items, sweet potato and apples in the same bag as cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. When I asked her to put the soft items in a separate bag so that they didn't get damaged she told me to watch her pack them in, when asked a second and third time not to do this and advised that I was the one paying for the goods, she point black refused to and said she was doing it that way...
She was then informed that if she continued to do this and not separate the items as requested that she would be putting them back on the shelf...
I guess something she or someone else had to do, as she did not do what was a very reasonable request, I left her and went to Coles at the other end of the shopping center. Regrettably this is not an isolated incident, maybe it's the training they receive, but I for one are not paying for staff damaged goods.
harassment and intimidation by a staff
Date of incident: June 6, 2016
Harassment by a fruit and vegetable Woolworth sale attendant.
Monday is shopping day for me and I take delight with shopping. Woolworth in Springwood, in Logan Qld. is one of the shops I always visit. I enjoy bargain hunting, it is a help to our budget as pensioners. As my usual practice, I got the $3.00 bag for my veges and fruits. After I finished packing the bag one of the sale assistants came and accosted me saying that I should only get enough to allow the ends of the bag tied up. When I said "i can" he said" show me". I was quite annoyed with his approach, I felt humiliated because this was done in the presence of other customers. I also never had this experience with other sales assistants. I felt so bad that I felt like throwing all what I had in the bag to the floor. I restrained myself from what I was thinking to do.While I was in the bread section I overhead the same man who harassed and intimidated me, charming a little girl saying that his name was Terry and even offering the little girl an apple to eat. I was wondering how discriminatory Terry is compared to his treatment of me compared to this little girl. After paying my groceries, i asked to speak to the manager of the shop. The manager apologized for the conduct of the sales attendant. I discussed to the manager that a sign should be placed in the area for the $3.00 . I also said to the manager that Terry should have exercised courtesy in his dealing with me as a customer by saying that I could do it this time but not next time. Honestly, Woolworth is really gaining by selling what "throw away" veges and fruits with the $3.00 bag. It is a win win situation for Woolworth because it is waste turned to cash and should at least thank the customers who buy this groceries. I have also concerns that this man Terry will do the same to other customers who are not of the white race like me. I am also concerned of his dealing with little girls.
How on earth did you take this as being racist?
Hang on, you basically accused a man of being a pedophile because he told you how to bag your items?
survey
I am being asked on Facebook to do a survey regarding a second site for Woolworths and am being offered a $1000 voucher. I think this may be a scam but now cannot escape either with my back arrow or X . My Facebook page is jammed. What is it? What can I do?
