**1 star – Extremely disappointing customer service and a complete lack of flexibility**
My experience with Vueling on this occasion has been extremely negative, especially because of the way my request for assistance was handled.
I had booked a Vueling flight for 18 October 2026, but when making the reservation I accidentally selected the wrong destination airport.
The original booking was:
**CR4VXE – VY 8980 – Barcelona (BCN) → Brussels (BRU), 18/10/2026.**
After a few days, I realised my mistake and had to purchase a second flight, again with Vueling and for the same date, this time to the correct destination:
**GP2SFK – VY 6500 – Barcelona (BCN) → Naples (NAP), 18/10/2026.**
So I did not simply decide to cancel my trip: I continued to choose Vueling and made a second booking with the same airline, paying for another ticket in order to make the journey correctly.
I contacted Vueling and asked for a refund of the first booking, clearly explaining the situation. Vueling replied that the two bookings could not be considered “duplicate bookings” because they did not have the same flight number, origin and destination.
I fully understand the technical definition of a “duplicate booking”. The problem is that this response does not actually address the circumstances of my case: the second booking could not possibly be identical to the first one precisely because I purchased it to correct the mistake concerning the destination airport.
I therefore asked Vueling to consider the case at least as a commercial exception, given that I had made a second booking with the same airline for the same date. I also asked, as a fallback, for at least a refund of any refundable taxes, fees and airport charges related to the first booking.
After several further communications, I received no concrete solution, and my latest request was simply left unanswered.
What I find most disappointing is not merely the fact that the fare may have restrictions. It is the complete lack of flexibility and attention to the specific circumstances of the case.
I acknowledged my mistake, corrected it by purchasing a second Vueling flight, and tried to resolve the matter directly with the airline. I would have expected at least some degree of commercial flexibility or, at the very least, a clear and complete response.
Mistakes can happen to any passenger. What makes the difference, in my opinion, is how an airline chooses to assist a customer who is genuinely trying to resolve the problem in good faith.
In this case, Vueling's customer service was extremely frustrating and bureaucratic: responses based entirely on the technical classification of the bookings, without any real consideration of the actual circumstances, followed ultimately by no response at all to my last request.
I will keep all documentation relating to both bookings and all correspondence with Vueling, and I am also seeking assistance from the relevant consumer protection organisations.
After this experience, I will find it very difficult to choose Vueling again, and I would strongly advise other passengers to pay particular attention to the cancellation and refund conditions before purchasing a ticket.
One star is already a generous rating for the quality of customer service I received in this case.
