Viking Cruises review: Hidden expirations on vouchers!
We booked an ocean cruise to the Mediterranean, after having a dissatisfactory river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. We had received $3000 in vouchers to be applied to our next cruise.
I called and spoke with a customer service rep and then a management representative, James x16127. We wanted to book our cruise for 1 year later than originally planned given that we have immediate significant costs coming up.
Both representatives said that I would need to buy insurance through Viking (which is exorbitant) in order to move our vouchers to a new booking. I did plan to buy insurance, but nearer to the cruise date. They were both unequivocal and unfriendly. It seems that the voucher I received expired in July and it is now early November.
Do not cruise on Viking - not because of their cruise itineraries, but because of their poor customer service.
Recommendation: Give Viking a pass and look at other cruise lines with a higher customer service rating.
