Primary Concerns:
Yard Grading and Drainage Issues
Our backyard has significant uneven grading and inconsistent ground conditions throughout the property. There are multiple uneven and low areas that create potential tripping and safety hazards for our child and pets. While the builder offered top dressing and reseeding as a “courtesy,” this appears to address cosmetic appearance only and does not resolve the underlying grading and leveling concerns. Our yard is sloping towards our foundation and is visually uneven. Per the two options listed on the permits for development neither option were followed anywhere on the property.
Additionally, portions of the landscaping installation were still being completed during the inspection process, limiting the ability for the yard condition to be properly evaluated at that time.

Electrical and Permit Concerns
We identified concerns regarding the kitchen island electrical outlet configuration appearing to differ from the approved electrical permit plans. We requested documentation showing approved revisions or permit amendments but have not been provided evidence confirming the changes were formally approved or inspected as required.
This has raised broader concerns regarding whether portions of the home were constructed in accordance with approved permits, grading plans, drainage plans, and applicable inspection requirements.
Lack of Transparency and Accountability
Throughout the process, we received inconsistent and conflicting information from customer service representatives regarding company policies, homeowner rights, and responsibility for construction-related concerns. After escalation, leadership, including the VP of Operations, defended inaccurate or misleading statements rather than addressing the underlying issues directly and transparently.
We understand that construction issues can occur; however, homeowners should be able to rely on builders to follow approved plans, comply with permitting requirements, and communicate honestly when concerns are raised.

Desired outcome: I would like my yard to be properly graded and leveled, my approved electrical permit approved and monetary compensation for my time and emotional distress this has caused me and my family.

You have the permits, photos, and a clear paper trail — that’s leverage. Stop waiting for them to suddenly become honest. Hire an independent inspector, then file a complaint with the city building department. This isn’t about being difficult — it’s about safety and accountability.
