Thrifty Rent A Car Thrifty car rental houston hobby airport

Exceptional experience on 12/5/23 dropping off my rental car. Tiarah and Ms. Tonia are the exact type of employees any company would be proud to have as their brand representatives. Tiarah assisted me in my return and from start to the finish of this process she was as genuine as they come in all aspects of assisting me. I requested that I drop off my car at this location instead of IAH due to a medical situation informing her I had spoken with Thrifty representatives on the phone who stated it would be up to the counter personnel to decide if this was possible. I drove 25 minutes not knowing if this was possible, sort of a blind attempt. Ms. Tonia when she heard the reason said; absolutely, you can drop this car off here. I did not hear or see one ounce of hesitation through the whole process. I have been in International Relations in the travel industry for over 13 years and I would do anything to get people like Tiarah and Ms. Tonia any day of the week. I have been a lot of places in the world so Thrifty, hope you know these are not ordinary employee's they are exceptional examples of the best.

Recommendation: 2 things that are free in life; A Smile and Common Courtesy!

Thrifty Rent A Car Unauthorized credit card charges

I hired a car in Palma airport, this was returned with only the original damage which was on the car on collection.
I have had no correspondence from you or the agent I used. (holiday autos) ref ES137504750.
Why have I been charged £166.00 on my credit card.
I photographed the car on collection and this matches the damage report I received from your agent.

Thrifty Rent A Car Extra charges on bill that we did not agree to.

Rented a Thrifty car from Harry Reid Airport on 3/29/2024 and returned on time on 4/05/2024. We were charged several fees which we declined. The first one at $29.04 a day was Loss Damages Waiver - total cost added to our bill was $203.26. The 2nd fee was for Premium Road Service at $9.99. It amounted to $69.93. This woman was very pushy about options. We declined them but still she put them on.

We have tried reaching the company but there is not a live person but in reservations. She told me I had to speak directly to the agent in Las Vegas. However, I cannot find any direct number.

Claimed loss: $273.21

This is a total scam, plain and simple. You declined those fees, and they still charged you? Ridiculous. They’re trying to pull a fast one, and you can’t let that slide.

First, get every piece of documentation you have: your rental agreement, any emails, receipts — everything. Then, demand to speak to a supervisor. Don’t waste your time with lower-level customer service; they can’t help you. Be persistent, don’t take no for an answer, and let them know you’re not backing down.

They need to understand that treating customers like this is unacceptable. Make some noise, go public if you need to. Social media, reviews, whatever it takes. They need to know you mean business, and they’ll regret trying to pull this on you. Get your money back.

Thrifty Rent A Car Pre fuel gas purchase

I purchased the pre gas fuel (electric) i was told that by purchasing it i would not have to pay for the use of the charging stations which was charged to my card 5 times. Also i never ask for an electric car, as this was very hard to enjoy my weekend, because i spent most of the time searching for charging stations, as the car showed stations that didn’t exist anymore, my weekend was ruined as i spent most of my vacation at a charging station or searching for one! Not only did it ruin my time it also ruined my fiancé and sons time as well

Thrifty Rent A Car Rental extra fee

I rented a car at the Orlando airport on 3/26/2024. When I returned the car on 3/27/2024 it was full of gas and clean no trash or anything. I asked the lady if it was good and she said yes. when I checked my bill sitting at the airport it had an extra $100 outside cleaning fee! This is a fraudulent charge as nothing was wrong with the car. I need this fee returned immediately.

Thrifty Rent A Car Car rental

I reserved a car through Priceline for pick up on 3/23 in Phoeniz AZ #K78542377A2 for

I've been unable to do an early check-in all day (eight hours I've been trying). I get "successful submission" each time I upload my CDL pictures along with a selfie. Unfortunately, all ten times I've tried this process your site has said something went wrong and my confirmation needs me to try again. The reason this background is important because I had a horrible experience with your company Thrifty and Priceline in the past with a fully paid reservation. I arrived at airport in the state of my trip at 2 a.m. and I was told by a Thrifty representative that you oversold available cars and we would have to wait hours in airport for rentals to be returned before we would have a car and leave airport and start our trip. My need to confirm my reservation is so that I'm sure my rental is confirmed before I arrive. Both companies pointed fingers at each other and blamed each other for the bad customer service I received but no one has committed to my refund and inconvenience. Can I be contacted by upper management? A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE and I don't feel valued or cared about.

Thrifty Rent A Car Service, misinformed, cost, refund

K6962561032 Thrifty Car Rental. Dates: 02/15/2024 - 02/20/2024

* I rented a Thrifty car on-line through USSA Bank using my points in the amount of $390.07 for an economy car in Phoenix AZ. Upon arrival the agent said the economy size would not hold our 3 checked bags and us. She said we needed to upgrade to the next size. I have a hard time believing it was impossible to fit our luggage in.

* When I have previously rented through USAA, they allow a second driver for free. Thrifty agent told me they would charge me $60. for 5 days that came to $300.00. No discussion! As it turned out my daughter stayed with friends and did not drive the rental.

* The female agent told us we had the option to fill with gas outside or use their gas which was much cheaper. The gas tank was half full when returning the car, but I paid for a full tank. The agent did not previously tell us we’d be charged for a full tank.

* According to Thrifty, I would be refunded $75.00 within 24 hours after returning the car. Today is March 7, after 17 days of waiting, still no refund. Unfortunately I could not find a phone number for Customer Service. The only Thrifty number available to call is 877.283.0898 and you only get a recording that says to contact my bank if I haven’t receive the refund. I have made 2 separate calls to USAA but they don’t have information on this refund. My impression of Thrifty is that adding on charges is the goal, and, they don’t care about customers after they have been paid and car returned. My original rental was paying $390.07 through points. My bill came to $720.44!

* I am a senior citizen and live on a set budget, this was my first trip in 5 years. The trip was great but my experience with Thrifty was not good. I would appreciate if someone would review this and get back to me. Thank you, I appreciate any help you can give me.

Thrifty Rent A Car Completed rental with thrifty rental

Rental Record # [protected] I was charged a $400.00 smoking fee.. I do not smoke nor did anyone smoke in this vehicle for the duration of this rental. We were not greeted by an attendant at the time of return, signs just instructed to leave keys in the vehicle and depart. I have attempted to call Thrifty customer service and it is impossible to get a representative on the line to discuss, the automated system only directs you to use their site Thrifty.com/contactus and complete a form. I have tried this numerous times and on different browsers and always receive a message stating the form cannot be submitted at this time please try again later. There is literally no way to contact Thrifty once a rental is completed which is an absolutely disgraceful and dishonest. Thrifty is tacking on unjust fees with no way for a customer to dispute. I am requesting a refund for the unjustified $400.00 fee.

Thrifty Rent A Car RR# 968505086

Dear Thrifty Customer Service,

I am a fellow Blue Chip member, hoping to one day achieve high status within the community. I am, however, writing to express my dissatisfaction with a recent car rental experience I had with Thrifty. On February 17th, around 10:30 PM, I rented another Toyota Corolla (#968505086) because the prior weeks Thrifty experience, also in a Toyota, was awesome. I was expecting a clean and comfortable ride, as this booking is for a week. However, I was disappointed to find that the car had a strong, pungent smell of cigarette smoke that permeated through the fabric seat covers.

The smell was not only unpleasant but also caused discomfort during my journey. Despite airing out the vehicle, the smell persisted, indicating that it was deeply ingrained in the car's upholstery. This significantly detracted from the overall rental experience and did not meet the standards I have come to expect from Thrifty.

Moreover, I would like to bring to your attention how difficult it is, trying to reach someone via phone later in the evening. Due to my work schedule, I usually have to schedule pickups for after 9pm. This makes it difficult for me to immediately address issues like this one at the time of pickup. This marks the second Thrifty rental that has had a lingering odor. The first time, a similar situation but the smell was of faint marijuana, didn't bother me as much as this time. It's been raining all week here in California, which is unusual, so I haven't been given a proper opportunity to open the windows and air the vehicle out.

I believe that all customers should be provided with clean, smoke-free vehicles as part of their rental experience. I kindly request that Thrifty address this issue promptly to prevent similar experiences for future customers.

Desired outcome: Refunds would simply return to your company, due to my frequent rentals. Hotels give complimentary stays to resolve issues, something similar may not exist, but complimentary rental days would be a "desired outcome"

Thrifty Rent A Car I was charged on 2 credit cards for 1 car

I flew to Ohio with my husband and 70 year old brother that has dementia to see our 90 year old father. I booked all our reservations on line including our ca rental with you. I used our Capital One credit card to book the car rental. When we arrived we had to wait an hour for a car. When we finally got our car I had to show Drivers license and a major credit card. I showed my Apple credit card . I said I already booked on line, she said this was just for id. Come to find out both of my cards were charged.525.76 on my Capital One card and 941.92 on my Apple card. I have already paid off the Capital One credit card. I keep disputing My Apple Card. I have called you many times i get no where. Please HELP with this matter. I find it unbelievable this is happing. Please HELP! Thank You ,Justie Huber

Thrifty Rent A Car Car rental at dfw airport

Okay, so this is my fourth attempt at this complaint. I filled it all out, hit submit and it took me to another page where I had to go through the whole process again. When I went back, it was gone. Twice if showed a prompt "ERROR Can not add file to temp directory. So I am not sending it with pictures of the receipts. Good way to keep people from getting their complaints to you, very discouraging, but not discouraged enough.

I reserved a car through Priceline. The price of the compact car rental was $217.59 for one week. When we arrived at the rental counter, we were told it would be 35 minutes till there was a car available. That seemed unusual. As the young man was trying to process us, there was an issue. He tried to get the manager, but she was in a meeting. Eventually, he said he figured out the issue. I was returning it to a different location. That was not what I did when setting up the rental. I set pick up and drop off at DFW. When I talked with Priceline later, they told me the same thing.
He then adjusted (supposedly) to drop off at DFW. The priced changed from $217.59 to $408.46. I told him that was not what I rented it for and it should be the original $217.59. He repeatedly told me that was a good price for the week and I told him repeatedly that is was not the price I rented for. I needed to get to a conference, so I rented the car at $408.46. I asked him who I would need to talk to for a refund. He told me Priceline, which turned out to not be true.
They put us into a Ford Ecosport. This car was dirty. It also had an exhaust leak that got into the cab. So, the next day, I drove over there, filled up the car and returned it for a different vehicle because of the exhaust leak. It was giving my wife a headache.
I had asked for the manager and again she was not available. They had to call her. She did show up a few minutes later. By this time the young man who helped me the day before motioned me over. I told him that there was an exhaust issue with the rental and needed something else. I also told him that Priceline said that Thrifty would need to issue me a refund. I told him if they would give me a fun car like a Camaro or something similar, I wouldn't demand a refund. I wanted something that I normally wouldn't rent (Camaro) otherwise I would like an exchange comparable to the compact car and the refund. Finally, he told me that we were going to go outside and I COULD PICK OUT A VEHICLE OF MY CHOICE.
I was excited and good with the deal. But when we got outside, which was very cold, he told me I could only have a Chevy or Ford product. A Malibu and some Ford, even offered a Kia. I asked about the Camaro which is a Chevy product and he said he would have to charge extra for it. I told him, I was already overcharged for it. Okay...he was not following up with picking out a car of my choice. We finally settled on a Honda CRV. I have a Honda, not my idea of a fun car, like the Camaro I thought I was picking out. They had two of them there at the moment. It was cold and I was tired of fussing with it so I took the Honda.
As we were checking it out. He told me it was free, several times. That is great, it should be since I had to take time to come and exchange a car that had exhaust leaking into the car, which is a pretty serious issue. After I left I looked at the ticket he gave me and noticed an $87.23 Transfer exchange fuel and service charges. I thought, you got be kidding me. He repeatedly said it would be free. I filled the original rental car up and now you are charging me for exchanging a car that had exhaust leak into the vehicle? What great customer service! (SARCASM)
I thought I would wait and see if the charge showed up, thought it might be my misunderstanding. Today, I checked my Visa card and there was a total of $506.84. My rental went from $217.59 to $506.84. An additional $289.25!
They overcharged me because of some glitch, then charged me $87.23 because I had a bad vehicle. I was told it would be free...IT WASN'T! The young man was very nice. I was not rude with him, just wanted him to make things right. I was hoping to get into a Camaro and move on with life.
Unfortunately, this is where we are. Something needs to be done to correct this. I will try and upload all receipts in the form of a picture. I think a full refund is in order. If not, then $289.25 which is the difference from the original cost of the rental and what I was charged.
I tried to have the young man make it right. I wasn't going to pursue the difference if he would have given me the Camaro with no extra charge. It didn't turn out that way. If you would like pictures of the receipts you may request them. I tried several times and a error prompt came up.

Desired outcome: Because of my bad experience, my desired outcome would be a full refund of $506.84 please. If that cannot be met then $289.25 which is the difference from what I was actually charged $506.84 and the original amount of $217.59

Thrifty Rent A Car Charged for un-requested insurance for car breakdown

I made arrangements for a rental of a Thrifty Rental car through Spirit Airlines who processed the particulars through Priceline. The car was to be picked up at Phoenix, Az. airport location on July 5th. We were the last check-in of the night, my husband filled in the agreement and declined all extra coverage as we are AAA members and have extra rental car coverage on our automobile insurance policies. My husband presented an American Express credit card for the clerk to verify. Never was anything said about insurance for breakdowns of the rental car and no explanation of an existence of such an option mentioned or pointed out on the agreement nor an extra charge discussed. The rental car was pre-paid when the reservation was made.

On our next American Express statement, a charge from Thrifty Rental car of $51.32 appeared. I called the 800# and spoke to someone and they said it was a mistake and it would be corrected. The correction did not occur, so I contacted American Express credit card co. and they removed the charge and said if after 30 days they did not have a dispute from Thrifty Car Rental that it would be permanent.

In September I received an invoice from Thrifty requesting payment. Again, I called and spoke to a representative - Shalovi and she said the request to remove the charge would be "escalated".

After still not getting a response, I called again...

On 11-13-23 Rao emailed a copy of the contract, all extra coverage is shown as declined.

Another invoice arrived by US Mail with the amount still due. I spoke to and emailed Fred H. at customer Correspondence for Thrifty. Again nothing was done and I even requested that he respond that he received my request.

At the end of November we received a letter from Thrifty Car Rental that they have removed our privileges? for failure to pay outstanding charges.

My husband called Victor on 1/6/24. he said he would send the information to the Phoenix office directly and hoped to get authorization to remove the charge and clear our account.

My husband called again this morning 1/25/2024. He was disconnected by telephone.

We are not asking for anything extra... just to remove a charge that was placed in "error" on our account. We were never advised that we had this coverage and if the rental car broke down in our possession we would not have been able to use insurance we didn't know we had. Thankfully the car was in good order and no break downs.

Desired outcome: Just remove the charge we did not agree to and agree that a mistake was made.We also don't want to be considered as non-payers. We would like a cleared statement by US Mail for our records.

Thrifty Rent A Car Car rental

Twice I rented from thrifty at boston logan airport recently, both times was over an hour wait because they had no cars, meaning they overbook heavily and you could wait forever. Last time I said I would take the chevy bolt electric car, just so I wouldn't have to wait that long. What a mistake! I only went to newport and back to the airport, no other driving, it cost me $43 in charging costs, and I also plugged it in to my friends house for 8 hours. I made a written complaint on the return, and of course, they charged me anyway. Do not use them or you will regret it! Boycott this company at all costs!

Desired outcome: they don't care. BOYCOTT THEM AND THEY WILL CHANGE

Thrifty Rent A Car Thrifty rental car experience and cost

I reserved a car last night to rent today Wednesday Jan 3 through next Monday Jan 8 in fort myers and the process today was a nightmare. With my two young kids in tow, we waited for an hour in a long line to then be rushed by the agent at the desk into signing for an upgraded car that I didn’t want nor know I was getting until I looked at the total after signing. She said that the original booking was for a compact car and that all they had left were electric cars so she would put me in a mid or full size instead. The way she worded it made it sound like there was no fee for that so I said okay but after signing, realized that she charged me for an upgrade so my cost practically doubled. I was so ready to get out of there after waiting in line so long, as were my kids, plus the people behind us in line were breathing down our backs so I signed, and took what we got knowing I would be working to rectify the situation later. So here I am messaging. I want to be charged for the original amount of my reservation. if needed, i can take the car back thar we picked up this afternoon in exchange. When i booked the car, it was supposed to be $198.40 and instead my total today was $375.25. I tried calling customer service but could not get ahold of anyone would they would help me. I also messaged on Facebook as the website instructs but was told that nothing could be done until I return the car. I want to do what I can to ensure I am charged the original price of my reservation and need a response so that if I need to return the current car, I can. I booked my original reservation through Expedia and number was K7253105851. My current rental record # is [protected].

Desired outcome: To only be charged for the original cost of my reservation ($198.40) not the upgraded cost ($375.25).

Thrifty Rent A Car Rental summary charged more than I was informed of

Dropped off the rental car on 11/25/2023 rental agreement # [protected] Debra Hollingshead I was charged for fuel and I delivered the car back with a full tank of gas. I was charged for damaged waiver and I told the person I rented from that I did not need that coverage as my insurance covered me for rental cars. The person who assisted me spoke very little English and had to have someone else assist him all the time speaking in another language to her. I will file a dispute with my bank for fraud if this is not fixed and the charges are not removed from my account. I had ask to change the card on file and ask the amount and was told $300 so I stated keep the card I have to pay. I expect a full refund of the $244.93 , 47.03 and additional operator fee of 94.50 which was never explained to me as well. I believe this is an unfair practice of not disclosing information in English.

Desired outcome: I would like a refund of $386.46 ASAP otherwise I will file a claim of fraud .

Thrifty Rent A Car Rental 595875022 - car returned on Nov 11th - false charge

Hello. Today a got a letter from you saying that I allegedly had not returned the car with a full tank and therefore it had been necessary to fill it up again with 9.3 Gallons of fuel. The claim that I have not returned the car with a full tank is definitely wrong! I was on the gas pump just a few miles before I returned the car and the tank was full on return!
I can easily proof that:
I drove 716 miles and the car consumes around 3,8 Gallons per 100 miles, mostly driven on highways with no more than 60 miles/hour. In total I must have used around 27,4 Gallons of fuel, and the last portion of 6,65 Gallons (see credit card statement and calculate with 3,2 USD/Gal) I filled up on Nov. 11th right 20 minutes before return. There was neither time nor possibility to empty another 9.3 Gallons out of the tank, otherwise I would have driven more than 716 miles! In addition your letter is adressed to Czechia, and I am NOT from Czechia. Why it reached me anyway is due to the „search-service“ of the postal service. So I guess either you mixed me up with somebody else or a fraud attempt is under way! In addition you can look at what mileage the next rental started! This will tell you how many miles the car was driven AFTER I had returned it! And nobody can drive out of the rental car station unless he has authorisation for that! I hope I have pointed out very clearly that it was NOT me who has emptied the tank or has consumed another 9.3 Gallons of fuel, if this ever happened and not only claimed! Charge whomever you want but not me! I will reject any further charge on my creditcard! You have no chance to proof your false allegation! I will never rent with Thrifty again!
