For the past year I have been having horrible breathing problems. I would wake up gasping for breath, all day I'd gasp and be unable to catch a full breath. I could not understand what was happening to me. I went to the doctor but he could not find what was wrong. I stopped taking all my medicines thinking I was having a reaction to one of them. Over time it was getting worse. I would just be sitting watching TV and no matter how hard I tried to get a deep breath I just could not fill my lungs. I felt like I was breathing through a straw or something. I was so scared and confused. Finally one day out of desperation, I looked up tempurpedic allergies. I found a site filled with other people's stories about their health issues due to this memory foam that is made with toxic chemicals. I only had a tempurpedic pillow. I took it off my bed and got a new, organic pillow. Today is the 4th day I've slept without that pillow and as of today my breathing is almost completely back to normal. I just went through a year of *** due to that toxic pillow. Please do not buy any tempurpedic foam items! It is not worth it!
Mattress too soft
We bought our Deluxe Tempur-Pedic a year ago and we would not recommend it. The mattress is way too soft. It gets softer and softer throughout the night and i always wake up with major pain in my lower back. Don't buy this mattress! Don't be fooled at how good it feels in the store. We thought it felt great too. When you spend more than 5 minutes on it, you realize it gets softer and softer as more heat transfers to the mattress from your body.

Causes body pain
Replaced Foster and Stearns pillowtop matress with Tempurpedic Cloud. Pain started from night one and now for 2 months. Both wife and I have woken up with completely numb arms for first time in 24 years. Matress is as hard as a rock and trying to sleep on side is difficult at best. Wife just had spinal fusion surgery which is why we purchased bed. The support the bed offers is too firm and the name Cloud is misleading. I have chronic neck pain that was not present on old bed. Stiffness in shoulders and base of neck persist throughout the day. We strongly recommend against this bed for anyone who has a nervous system. Tempurpedic informed us that it takes time to break the bed in. We will be broken long before the bed is!
after months of joint pains in my shoulders and hips there seems to be a strong connection between the discomfort of my ball in socket joints and my tempurpedic mattress. My shoulders feel as if they have been overused like a tennis player and my hip bones feel the same . I recently changed my mattress with one I had in another room of the house. I can tell the difference instantly the next night but the pain is still there. I am concerned that I may have waited too long. If you suffer similar symptoms, please act now
I have taken test after test, for arthritis, carpal tunnel, ct scans & an MRI with no negative results. And at my wits end decided to look up my mattress after recalling the woman who gave it to me after my house fire saying it hurt her husbands back. I hurt so much does anyone know how long it takes to feel better once you stop sleeping on the temper? I am gonna sleep on the floor till I can replace it and hope to get my life back!
I have always had a bad back. Spinal stenosis is only one of several serious issues. Hence the new bed bought ironically from Healthy Back. It never occurred to me before, but after countless pain killers and treatments, including many epidurals, yet one more horrible debilitating night, and doctors puzzled by the endless aching all over my body, I finally googled reviews on my mattress.
I am now convinced there is, at the very least, a connection between the mattress and my chronic joint and muscle pain. Therefore, I will sleep in another bed tonight and start checking this theory.
Unable to sleep on mattress
I recently bought a tempurpedic cloud bed. I have had it 4 months and have not had a good night sleep since. It has to be the worst mattress I have ever bought and they will do nothing to make it right. I recommend that no one buys one especially from Mohr Furniture, because they do nothing to make it right.
We recently purchased a tempurpedic mattress from Sleepys. The salesman told us we would not find a better price on our bed. The sign in the store stated "Will beat any competitors price by 20% or its free". I found the same bed for $400 less and now thier claim is that the company selling the bed is not an "authorized dealer" so therefore they do not have to honor the price guarentee. The ad hanging in the store states "competitor" not "authorized dealer" and they will not acknowledge this fact.
I have heard about them being quite warm. It makes sense to me, and is part of the reason why I personally won't buy one.
I know a lot of people who own them and enjoy them a lot. For the first month or so after you buy it, it does take some time to soften up. Additionally, I hear the room has to be on the warm side otherwise it will get too firm.
No fees were supposed to be charged to me!
You delived my bed to me and set it up. I do like my bed. But, you were not supposed to charge me any fees for paying it off. You told me that.
So why are you charging me fees? I am 82 and cannot afford much more and I am a widow.
I am Jo Ann Danforth and I have had your bed for a few years now.
The only compaint is the bed is so warm to sleep on, but other than that it is great. Is there any cure to render that?
Misleading sales tactics
My wife and I purchased a new mattress. The cost was over $3000.00. The salesman explained they had free financing, 3 years same as cash. (O. K.) He also explained, if we decided we didn't like the bed, we could return it after 30 days. We purchased the bed with $1000.00 cash down and financed the rest. I was led to belive that the $1000.00 cash was not refundable and would have to be used as an in store credit. I agreed to that. After the 30 day trial we decided the mattress was much to firm for us and started the return process. We picked out a different mattress that cost about $2000.00. We thought this was good, we just saved $1000.00. Times are tough we could use this money. But no, the contract I signed used the word VALUE. Here is where they get you. IF you select a item that is less than the original purchase price, then the remaining (value) will only be available as in store credit. So wheather you like it or not you (have to spend), the original purchase price of the higher priced item. So much for us saving any money. Needless to say this was my first experiance at this kind of sales tactics, and we were rather upset to find out they had us over a barrel. I am surprised it's even legal. So buyer beware at the room store you will wind up with more than you bargained for, in a bad way.

No apologies, no effort to resolve the problem
I went to Steinhafels in Kenosha, WI to purchase a Tempur-Pedic mattress. I knew exactly what I wanted before arriving. The first bad sign was when I saw their delivery truck being towed on Hwy 50. The second, third and fourth signs occured when "Jennifer", the sales clerk, kept moving from computer terminal to computer terminal to find one that worked with a printer that also worked so she could complete the transaction. That's not the problem though. The real issue lies with the fact that I was told delivering to Burlington, WI on Saturday would not be a problem. When I was notified via email that my mattress was available for delivery, I was told they did not deliver to my area on Saturday. I explained I was told this would not be a problem when I made the purchase. "Well, we don't deliver to that area on Saturday" was the response. No apologies, no effort to resolve the problem. I can't be there for deliveries during the week. I may have to cancel the order. I will keep you posted.
Poor quality!
I recently purchased a Tempur Pedic bed only to discover multiple factory defects in the workmanship. The removable zip off cover looked as if it was twisted on the bed and the odor coming from it was disgusting. If that wasn't bad enough, the feel of the bed was nothing like what i sampled in the showroom. I began to ponder if this was normal for this very expensive bed so i did some homework on line and discovered that quality seems to be a problem with this company. From what i understand, they recently all but disposed of their quality assurance program. In order to make sure that they were able to produce as many foam beds as possible, they put their production manager in charge of quality. Now, I have worked in manufacturing for nearly 30 years. When a company bypasses their QA department in order to push manufacturing number, you can bet that the quality of that product will be crap from that point forward. This certainly explains the defects that i received. Bottom line here is that the mattress has been returned and i will research the other mattress brands much more thoroughly before making my next purchase.

I have a Tempur Pedic for about 15 years. There is a break in due to being compressed. I was told to walk on it for a few days. It did work. Time for a new one. I really only needed a full, but got a queen. (widower) funny, I only sleep on 1/2. Funny thing if I try the other 1/2 I wake in my spot that is formed to my body. This has been the best mattress ever. Very bad back and has been a dream to sleep soundly. I have no affiliation with them and don't receive compensation for the review. Yes not cheap. Then sleep is what I missed out on for many years . I am 68 years old, and never review products. I had to on this. You can email if you like. ron4598@hotmail.com for ANY questions you may have. Thank you. Ron G
The smell does not go away
My new Tempur-Pedic Classic is completely unsatisfactory. I don't know how well it sleeps because I've had the mattress in my house unwrapped, "airing out" for 28 days and I've never slept on it. I and my pregnant wife have been sleeping on our pull-out couch for a month now because we bought a noxious gas mat for $1, 783.95. We have compressed the mattress to try to get the smell out. We have vacuumed it to try to get the smell out. I have had the window open daily for weeks, in the state of Maine, at the end of November and through the first half of December, with freezing temperatures outside to no avail. My wife still won't go into our bedroom without quickly covering her nose upon entering the room.
I can't believe any company would state as part of their sales pitch and marketing material that the smell of their mattress "will dissipate within a few days" when the reality of the product is completely different. Please notice that the word "few" is undefinable and could mean 3 days or 50 depending on your perspective of time. Also, take note of the word "dissipate." I will testify that the smell will "dissipate" and lessen. This much is true. The statement, however, is meant to influence the consumer into inferring that the smell will dissipate until it is either not noticeable or gone completely. I can make no other conclusion other than that the statement made on the FAQ page of Tempur-Pedic's website "Your mattress may have a slight odor remaining from our unique manufacturing process. This is normal and completely harmless and will dissipate within a few days." is misleading. It is a grand example of Stephen Cobert's term: "truthiness." Nowhere in the marketing literature does it say that the smell will "go away" or "fully air out." In fact, as it stands now, the evidence shows that the smell never goes away. It will always have a smell that I liken to the smell of mold or mildew.
So far, 28 days into owning the Tempur-Pedic Classic, the most expensive piece of furniture I've ever bought, and not to mention that I bought it so that I might bring comfort to my pregnant wife (this will the first child for both of us), I am completely unsatisfied and would never recommend this product to anyone. Do not buy this product. You will regret it.

Not honoring 90 night trial
My wife and I purchased a Tempurpedic mattress from Ashley Furniture. The store displayed banners with the 90 night trial advertised. We spoked about the trial period with the Assistant Manager of the store who advised us there was a "nominal fee" of about $300 to return the mattress. After 1 month of the worst sleep we've ever had in our lives, we decided to take advantage of the 90 night trial. (We're not faulting Tempurpedic - they have a great product and service - It's just not for everyone). The Store Manager at Ashley advised us we needed to contact Tempurpedic directly to take advantage of the trial period. Tempurpedic said that since we purchased from a retail store, that we needed to go through them. Upon returning to the Ashley store, the Manager advised us that the only thing they could do was offer us a "store credit" and that they never told us anything about a 90 night trial. The funny thing was, that you could see the banner that said "90 night trial" behind the Manager as he was telling us this! Upon the advice of the Tempurpedic rep on the phone (who was by the way VERY helpful), we have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and will be contacting our local Attorney General to file a complaint for false advertisement if we do not get satisfaction within the next 2 days.

My husband and I are going through the same thing in Austin, Tx. Purchased a TempurPedic at Ashley’s and they are not taking the bed back. They said we cannot return the mattress even though it is within 30 days. They told us we could return it if we weren’t satisfied. Upon going into the store, the manager didn’t even want to come talk to me. He kept sending a salesperson with the messages about reselection. However, if I were to reselect a new mattress that is cheaper, I would still have to pay for the amount spent on the TempurPedic…how does that make sense? Funny how when you get approved, they are all over you offering help with purchases, but want nothing to do with you for a return. They told me to contact customer service and I did right then and there. Customer service said the manager can approve a one time return through the ER TEAM. A day later, the manager denied that request. I’m going to go back tomorrow to speak to another manager. There is a Happiness Guarantee Policy that states they will can process one-time return…so what is the issue? I’ve already put in a complaint with the BBB. Needless to say, I will NEVER buy from Ashley’s again.
I'm in the same situation. Manassas, VA. Anyone have any luck?
So.. was there any outcomes from this? My wife doesn't like our temporpedic air bed and I am wondering what we will have to do.
Thanks,
Same situation in Fountain Valley, CA. I called Ashley to inform them that I would like to return the mattress. Ashley told me that I needed to go through Tempurpedic and gave me the 800 number for Tempurpedic customer service. In speaking with Tempurpedic I was told that since I had purchased the mattress through Ashley that I would have to deal with Ashely to return the mattress. Instead of calling the Ashely Furniture customer service number again, I decided to go into the store and talk directly with the salesperson and store manager whom both told me we had the 90 day sleep trial. In speaking with the store manager and telling him that I would like to return the mattress, he replied that we were the first in their store to want to return the mattress and he would have to get back to me. This morning I received a call from him informing me that his store doesn't participate in the 90 day sleep trial offer and he wanted to confirm that it was he that told me of the 90 day sleep trial offer. He said that he spoke with his salesperson and she said that she never heard him mention this. I told him yes, it was he that confirmed the offer and now he is going to get back with me. I get the feeling that this isn't going to end well or easily. I can't imagine a company like Tempurpedic allowing any company to sell their product without honoring the 90 day sleep trial their company is known for. It would be like a Chevrolet allowing one of their dealers to say that they won't honor a cars warranty. I would hope that either Ashley or Tempurpedic step up and honor the warranty. If not, I am afraid that this is going to take an attorney general to make this practice of selling a product and not honoring a manufactures warranty illegal.
Same situation here in Concord, California. Ashley's District Manager said we have to file a return through Tempurpedic. I called them FROM THE ASHLEY STORE. The Tempurpedic rep said since it wasn't purchased from Tempurpedic directly we have to file the return through Ashley. Then I called Ashley's customer service and they said that we did not purchase the satisfaction guarantee warranty so we cannnot exchange it. I'm waiting for a call back from the next level up in the Ashley line of customer service. 4/19/2013
How did this work out for you? I myself am in the SAME SITUATION as you, I am not sure what to do...
Thanks, Tim
Strong odors
strong strong sickening odor from the material. we put the Neck pillows outside to air out... did not work...sickening odor to wake up and smell the wet rubber odor...and yes they are not returnable...
DO NOT BUY these pillows.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
No trouble with the pillows or mattress, but rather the platform smelling like wet plywood and vinegar after four months. The store I purchased from graciously replaced it ($60 to cover their costs in delivering it) however, this one smells even stronger. What is it with this company's manufacturing?
The smell is unbearable, especially for anyone who has allergies or is sensitive to strong odors or perfumes. I was told to take off the cover and curl up the pillow to "open the cells". I did this for 2 weeks, twice each day, rolling the pillow the opposite direction each time.
Nothing helped. I returned the pillow and annotated the warranty form asking that I not be sent another unless it was odor-free. I got another smelly pillow and am out both the price of the pillow and the cost of shipping (nearly $13). The warranty covers only faulty material, not smell.
Buyers beware!
Mattress too soft
My husband and I purchased this mattress on the advice of our son and his wife. They purchased their mattress 2 years before we purchased ours and they have never had an issue with theirs. At first the mattress was really hard but we were told that it would soften over time. The 90 day trial period ended and we seemed to sleep better, that is until the softeness of the mattress continued until we could literally feel the platform foundation below us as we tried to sleep. At this point we decided to check the warranty to see what our options were and that's when we saw that the warranty does not cover a normal increase in softness of the tempur® pressure-relieving material and it further states that it does not affect the pressure-relieving qualities of the product. But it does! The softness is not normal and it has caused the pressure relieving qualities of the product to fail. This the most uncomfortable mattress we have ever had. I'm mad that we spent almost $3, 000 on a mattress that we cannot sleep on anymore. We do intend to pursue a refund from the company or a replacement of the mattress and will continue until this issue has been remedied to our satisfaction.

TEMPUR WHY DID YOU DISCONTINUE YOUR BEST MATTRESS AND EAT OUR MONEY WITH AN ABSURDLY HUGE VARIETY OF LOW QUALITY MATTRESSES THAT CONTAIN NOTHING OF THE RICH NASA-MATERIA?! I WANT MY MONEY BACK BUT AM BETRAYED ------------->
Had a Tempur Classic for 15 years, was the best in the world. Had to buy a new one at the End of 2016. Called Tempur Original 25(height), 220cm lenght. COST ME 1900 €, import from Texas U.S. After 2 months realised, that this mattress gives me musclepain and has nothing to do with the old models. The old models from 2002 had so much rich material that it caught you up like a firm cloud. It reacted to weight and temperature. If you pressed your hand in to make a hole, the hole would remain for some seconds and dent itself out only slowly. Wich proofed the richness of the material. The old tempur supported your muscles and body so perfect, you could even sleep on it without a pillow, you`d never have any pain on it.
NOW THE NEW POOR QUALITIY Tempur mattress called Original or Contour: It is painfull to lay on for the biggest part of the back, I have trained backmuscles so I can`t imagine how much more it must hurt for people who don`t do sports. All you do on this Tempur Contour is to sink in, it`s a 25 cm pile of material that has nothing to do with the old Tempur-material. On this Original/Contour I have to turn many times during the night because of muscle pain. And almost every morning wake up in worse shape than before the night. It`s a royal nonsuch, that I burned 1900€ for, and my trust in the brand is betrayed.
Tempur has obviously discontinued it`s one Classic product that was full of this rich Nasa-certified material. And instead gives you a variety of mdoels, about 4 different models each with 3 different hights. But does any of them compare to the old normal ones from years ago? No.
But hey, you can spend another 500 € on one of the foundations on top. I tell you: What`s below the mattress doesn`t help if the mattress is bad.
If it`s just wood-planks, don`t matter. The foundations/frames are just another thing added to Tempur`s big catalogue. One big rip-off.
Mad and furious in Köln/West-Germany,

THERE IS A WAY TO STOP SINKING! A year ago, we bought a high end Tempurpedic (as our "exchange" mattress when the first memory foam mattress didn't cut it) thinking this would be the best memory foam you can buy. And perhaps it is, but my husband suffered big time with back pain as he slowly sunk into it after the first hour of sleep. We have a split king (one side is memory foam, the other mattress a hybrid of springs + foam top). We fought over who would have to sleep on the Tempurpedic side since we both hated it. Tried to sell it for half price on Craigslist for months and NO ONE will buy a used mattresses of that quality. So last weekend we got creative. After going to IKEA, we went to the mattress section and found the softest mattress on the floor. It was way softer than our bed, but this was for testing purposes. We took a thin firm topper they also had on the floor and it did help to prevent the sinkage into the memory foam. Even more impressive was placing the topper on top of the runner mat they put at the end of the bed to keep dirty shoes off the beds. It was a huge support base to have this rubber floor rug runner, so we thought what's another $112 dollars at this point? We bought the thin (1.5") TJOME topper (TWIN was only $99) and the $12 LYNAS floor runner. Placed the runner on top of our tempurpedic right at the lower back point, secured it tightly, then put the TJOME topper over it. Covered it all with a spare top sheet and it is now THEE more comfortable side of the bed if you can believe it! My husband is in heaven and I thrilled that this year long battle has been resolved and we both wake up to happy backs in the morning! The rubber runner doesn't slip at all and provides just the extra stiffness to stop the sinking. DO IT!
Hi can I call you? I HATE Amy tempurpedic! I sleep on the floor now after paying $4000 for a mattress that is too soft! I wake every morning as if I got hit by a bus! I need to get your tip on how to firm up exactly. In desperate need! You can email me at huilim@me.com with your tel .. many thx!
Like Tobele, I too am feeling the effects of a too-soft Tempur-pedic mattress. For the past 6 months I have been awakening each morning with pain and stiffness in my hips and lower back secondary to inadequate support. Question: Does anybody have a solution for this? I'm considering cutting into the side of the mattress and inserting a thin board to increase support. Any other ideas? Please! I'm desperate.
I purchased a Temp Cloud Supreme 3 mos ago because it was described by Temp as an excellent combination of soft while being very supportive. No such thing. After 3 mos, I am in great discomfort, tossing and turning at night and suffering from aches in my lower back, hips and legs that I never had before. It is too soft and is not giving me the support I need! I bought into the hype and am now miserable.
I've had this just two weeks. It arrived SOFT, so much so that we thought we had the wrong mattress delivered. I like a harder surface and find I can't sleep. My right wrist hurts now as I have woken up with my arm under me, my wrist at an angle to prop me up. Their own website says that lightweight people (like me) need more time to adjust to it. I'm very concerned about my wrists. Ten years ago I had wrist injuries on my left wrist from an accident, and I don't want to go through that ever again. We don't have central air, and don't have the ac on during the day (nor do we keep it on at night) so this is why the bed is soft. I can only assume that this means it will be too hard in winter (we have an 1840's farmhouse with poor insulation). From hearing comments online about people returning these, I'm really dreading going back to the store but I don't think I can deal with this.
My husband and I bought a full size TPX bed. It was approx. $1600. We can't use the mattress because I fall in his hole (the space that the mattress sinks to when it conforms to your body). It really is uncomfortable to sink in the hole. I thought of trying a King size one to see if it will help, but my husband won't pay for it.
TP usually takes it back charges you and then take the cover off it and donate the used mattress to a charity and TPX tempurpedic says it is worth the same as a new mattresses to the charity. it is a shame they take old bad returns and give them away and do not tell anyone they are used returns. In one year TPX Donated $15, 000, 000 worth of mattresses that were returned YES 8, 000 mattresses to a charity called waste to charity. TPX took the covers off the mattresses and put them in poly bags and had charities pick the mattresses up. I hope none of these went to people that have immune problems. NOW TPX tempurpedic has another charity Gifts in kind with them on their website. Gifts in kind charges about $5, 000 for a about 100 tempurpedic tpx mattresses they get donated by making you pay a administration fee if you take a truck load PS that is including shipping so what is a used no cover maybe dirty or ripped temperpedic mattress worth.
I've had the same problem with the Bragada version on the Tempurpedic Classic mattress. We bought a split king in Jan 2009. From the beginning my husband's mattress was softer than mine and prone to cratering. Now, 1 year later, he sinks to the foundation and Bragada doesn't want to do anything about it. They blame the manufacturer of the mechanized base, claim it is "normal softening", etc. Unfortunately, their warranty requires we take photos of the mattress with no one on it, and send them in. Photos don't begin to reveal the issue. Then, if they decide it warrants further investigation, we have to package the mattress and ship it back to them at our expense. Once they receive it, they may - at their discretion - replace the mattress under warranty. My question is what is he supposed to sleep on during the time we're shipping and examining this defective mattress? Why would I pay $75-100 in shipping to send it back to them with no guarantee it will be replaced?
My mattress is fine, surprisingly. But, then again, I'm 130 pounds and my husband is 260. Maybe his broke down due to his size? If that's the case, why was this aspect of the product not explained from the beginning?
Won't purchase another Bragada mattress and not looking to go Tempurpedic, either since they seem to have the same problems.
Hope you get your refund!
Awful quality products
Tempurpedic products are now in better mattress stores on the West Coast and since the price seems to be fairly fixed, I decided to purchase the mattress from and the you the manufacture even through there were additional transportation cost., so that I could enjoy any benefits of a direct relationship with you. I was impressed with the quality of the product, the knowledge of the sales person and the service I received before the sale.
The first night on my new Tempurpedic was great! I don't think I turned over once throughout the whole night. Unfortunately this "restful bliss" was short lived. Mid way through the first month, I realized that I was a little stiff each morning despite a regular exercise program. I had been told that this mattress required a little "getting used to, " so I didn't give it much thought.
By the end of the 5th month however, my "stiffness" had become so pronounced that it was actually painful to get out of bed in the morning. I noticed also that I was getting only about three or four hours of "good" sleep each night, followed by a couple hours of tossing and turning. By the end of the sixth month, I had developed an almost continuous pain in my lower back and it was now taking a half a day to recover from the stiffness I was experiencing each morning. I then started a rather travel pace, that I didn’t get back to the issue until about midsummer this year.
Because everyone I had talked with who had a Tempurpedic had nothing but praise for it, I began to think that maybe there was something wrong with me, so I stayed with the bed a little longer. I visited my doctor, and was told that he had been treating a few people who had a Tempurpedic bed and was experiencing similar issues. I started sleeping in the guest room. After two months on a queen sized Simmons Beauty rest, my aches and pain was almost gone. This convinced me that the Tempurpedic was the problem. Fortunately, (so I thought) I might be able to exchange the Tempurpedic mattress for a mattress that didn’t dip in the middle. Buying my bed directly from you turned out to be a major disadvantage instead of having bought it from a reputable dealer and not from the factory. I think I would be treated a lot differently.
I am really disappointed with my experience because I really wanted to like this mattress. In retrospect, I think it was simply too soft. Upon first lying down, the feeling was wonderful. But as my body heat warmed the material, it became softer in the middle where I sleep (it dips more the middle than it does then on the sides, when I am lying on it) Once my pain began, I started paying more attention to the mattress. I found that by morning, the area directly under my body was much softer than the area where no one had been sleeping. This softness is what I think was causing my back pain. I have always slept on a firmer mattress.
I don't think it would be fair to overly criticize (at this point) this product because there are too many other people who like it. For me however, the Tempurpedic was totally unsatisfactory. I have made a request after talking to your customer service person, who says that the mattress has to be defected because that’s not the way the material is not suppose to do that.
I did what she asked, (stripping the bedding off & taking a picture of the bed, and filling out the appropriate paperwork, ) only to be told that I need to do it again, what on earth do you expect to see?, you have to lay on the bed in order to understand the difference between the middle and the sides of the mattress. I have really given this bed a chance, this is your chance to do the right thing, and I expect to get this resolved without being made to feel like I did something wrong by buying your product. Unfortunately I am going to copy your VP of customer service, you CEO, and a friend who is a television consumer advocate who will shine the light on this on a more macro level, only because I think this is what this situation is going to require in order for you to do the right thing, and even if you don’t, it may save someone else from having to go through the same issue.

THESE MATTRESSES ARE EXTREMELY PRICY AND ADVERTIZED TO MAKE YOU THINK THEY ARE THE TOP OF THE LINE FOR BACK PROBLEMS, WHEN IN REALITY THEY ARE CAUSING NUMEROUS MEDICAL PROBLEMS FOR THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE
THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS AND SO MANY COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY THAT I FEEL WRITING OUT MY MINE WILL JUST BE ONE MORE IN THE PILE.
ALONE OUR COMPLAINTS ARE LANDING ON DEAF EARS. THE COMPANY AND THE STORES THAT ARE SELLING THESE
HARMFUL PRODUCTS ARE NOT LISTENING. WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING AS A GROUP. I WAS HOPING A CLASS ACTION SUIT WOULD BE INITIATED BY SOMEONE BY NOW BUT SEEING IT HAS NOT, I GUESS I AM GOING TO CALL A FEW LAW FIRMS IN MICHIGAN AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT THE WAY THIS COMPANY MISLEADS AND DOES BUSINESS.
HOPE WE GET HEARD AND REIMBURSED.
My complaint is the same as the stories above, i really tried to like the mattresses but i can't because it has given me lower back and hip pain, when i first get up i can't hardly get out of bed, the mattresses looks good till i get into it and then it sags really bad in the middle.. For the money we paid we should be able to get a really good sleep the only time i sleep well is when i sleep on the couch, and i don't ache in the morning. Also my foundation squeak's they should change it for us. Will they even read this and get back to us?
Adam's story sounds like mine. I have owned my Tempur-Pedic for around 5 years and I want to love it... I really do, but I now have chronic low back and hip pain and I'm realizing more and more each day my pain is caused from this mattress. I loved my Tempur-Pedic the first year or so (after the initial "getting used to it" period), but I've been struggling to "love" it ever since, and I feel stuck. I paid so much money for the damn thing I can't see getting rid of it. I mean, isn't it suppose to be a "high-end" mattress? Isn't it the best of the best? If so, why am I sore every morning? Why do I have this low back - hip pain only when I sleep on this mattress? I have spent the day reading negative reviews and each story sounds like mine. I am a PTA and I've suggested this mattress to my patients... I think I regret that now. I wish I would have known about the negative effects of this mattress BEFORE I spent 5 grand on it. Now what?
Does anyone want to buy a Tempur-Pedic?
I have the same issue and my wife has not slept in our bed for over a year. But mine is the sides, each side is soft where you can roll to the outside and off the bed but good luch rolling to the middle. It takes all your effort to roll to the middle so if you are just laying still then it feels like you are fighting with the center and all lopsided. I have been a couple of months trying to explain this to the dealer and get a replacement. The technician came to the house and used a piece of string and said well no sag to this bed... I almost fell over saying that is not the problem. This is a memory foam mat and it goes back to its original but the density or strength is not the same through out the mattress, he said it looks fine to me and sat on it and said seems good. We asked hime to take it home and sleep on it for a night and then try to tell me it is fine. I feel deprived of my sleep the last year and I have lost the warmth of having my wife beside me at night. If I can save one person from experiencing this dreadful life I am dealing with from the lack of sleep and the sore body and aches that take hours to go away and then really never do then I am glad you read this.
If there is anyone stating a class action please let me know so I can join. My email is mickey__b@hotmail.com there are 2 underscores in my email
I have the same complaint. However; with the first mattress I had there was no problem. The problem began when the mattress was replaced (permanent sag) with a very cheap version that's compatible with a sheet of plywood. My problem was dealing directly with the company. They are very difficult to deal with and the matter was never resolved. I would never buy another one from them and when I pass by their stores I do my best to let customers know what they are getting into.
Bad service
Me and my husband bought a 20cm Tempur mattress in =
July 2005 as we were assurred by the salesperson that it would give a =
really good nights sleep. Especially as I have had shoulder surgery and =
had recently had a fall and fractured a spinal fusion. The shop =
assistant made me lay on the bed for quite some time reassuring me that =
you do get used to it as it molds around your body. We thought this =
would be a good idea as our 11 yr Seally posturpeadic mattress was due =
to be replaced. As time went by I began to get noticibaly in the fact =
that I was in more pain than usual. I thought that it was just my =
injuries getting worse. My husband never got used to the mattress and =
found that he was getting aches from his shoulderto his neck and back =
and severe headaches, corrsponding with the time the new mattress =
arrived. As he had just been promoted at work to a manager's position we =
were putting this down to stress. He also would vomit violently every =
morning due to lack of sleep and would always complain how tired he was. =
I began to sleep in our recliner in the lounge room as the pain kept me =
awake all night. We decided to swap our old mattress, just this weekend, =
that our son was using and give him ours to try just to see if the =
mattress was the problem. For 2 nights we have slept without any sleep =
disturbances and my husband has woken up without any nausea. However our =
23yr old son has had 2 nights of no sleep and has taken 2 days off work =
as he is also feeling sick from sleep deprivation. He said he has never =
slept better when he was on our old mattress that we took back from him. =
I have notified the distibuters in Victoria Australia Ph:03 [protected], =
who told us to notify the store where it was purchased. She said they =
would send someone out to see that it was not faulty. But as we live =
3hrs inland from the store I don't know how this will be accomplished. I =
have looked at the mattress and find that the indentations bounce right =
back into place when you get off the bed. So therefore do not see it as =
a faulty mattress. We also purchased 2 pillows that we don't sleep on =
either as we get headaches. We have only just realised the problem was =
the mattress as it was sold to us as some super dooper new technlogical =
Nasa certified and recognised by Nasa. I guess gravity affects us more =
than we think as it may well work much better in space with =
weightlessness.
I have notified the store and am awaiting there call back but just =
thought that you also need to know of our experience with this product. =
As we spent our all our money on furnishings and this mattress we are in =
no position to just throw it away. Because of the high cost of it =
initially you could even recoup half your money if you sold it.

Allergic reaction / hospitalization
I had a severe allergic reaction to my new tempurpedic mattress and ended up in the hospital. i ordered it from brookestone and it arrived straight from the factory. when i took it from the bag, the smell of it was really intense. its hard to describe, but sort of a strong industrial compound smell--similar to what a five gallon drum of crazy glue might smell like! i slept on my mattress and by morning had developed a sore throat. it was nov. and i didnt think much about it, just thought i might have come down with a cold. the second night was even worse and i could hardly talk the next day. but by the evening it had gotten really bad. i was having trouble swallowing, the little doo hicky in the back of my throat was the size of a giant slug. it filled my throat. even then i still hadent made a eureka ! connection to it being the bed. however, i woke in the middle of the third night unable to breathe. my throat had swollen shut. i ended up in the emergency room. the doctor asked me if i had been exposed to anything that cooresponded with the allergic reaction, like new furniture or carpet, by then i had done the math and realized the intense smell that came off the mattress when it came out of the bag was in fact being released even more as i slept on the mattress as my body weight compressed it. i weighed a measely 125 pounds but as i compressed the foam, it realeased toxic petrolium based fumes. i had to get shots at the hospital and i had to stop using the bed. the doctor said my throat looked as if it had been chemically burned from the inside. i called brookstone and didnt get anywhere and then the tempurpedic company themselves was a joke. they wanted to send me a complimentary travel pillow for the trouble of my throat closing shut. the rep actually confided in me that the mattresses come fresh off the line and are then sent out, so mine was prob only a few days old. the material is petrolium based and many people have allergic reactions fo things like new carpet and other new furniture. she told me that when a person lays on the mattess, it does release fumes. she said it should be put in a seperate room or storage area and allowed to air out for several weeks. i was like !. you want me to move this mattress to another part of the house and let it air out so that it will then be safe enough to sleep on? why not put a warning on it or just let them air out in your own dam house before sending them out to your customers. then, if they just about keel over from the toxic shock because there wasnt a warning, why dont you offer something beside a travel pillow? the mattress was 1400.00, it now sits in a rental house for students, having aired itself out fully in my lungs.

I like the feel of the mattress, but I've got a rash on my neck. I would like to keep it as it is comfortable, does this reaction go away?
I purchased a Tempur-Pedic and it has harmed my body and health. I hate my bed I will sleep elsewhere from now on. I would never purhase another. The Pillows kept my ears stopped up and the foam mattress has crippled my body!
marquettehous, what's involved in a class action suit?
I purchased the Temp Cloud Supreme which is supposed to be one their best updated models. I've been sleeping on it for a month now. I am terribly disappointed and even depressed. I have no history of back pain. Now have both lower back and hip pain.
As for an allergic reaction, I haven't been able to have a decent night's sleep. I have this tingling sensation on my entire body. I also get heart palpitations. The odor is somewhat weaker than the first couple of days, but some chemical must be released by this mattress to give me these sensations.
Is there any way to scientifically prove that Tempurpedic products have these allergic/toxic effects?
Any scientists or lawyers out there?
I received my Tempurpedic Queen firm mattress on Wed., July 4th. I think it is so comfortable though I've been waking up with a sore throat and stuffy nose every night since. My eyes are red, itchy, burning and tearing. I'm sneezing often. At first I thought I might be coming down with a cold...but last night it dawned on me that maybe it's allergies. The only thing new I have in my environment is the mattress and dust-mite free mattress cover and pillow covers (terry-type). I do smell the odor everyone is talking about but I use memory-foam toppers on my other mattresses (which also smell)...but have never had this type of reaction. Last night I woke up during the night and went to sleep in the guest room. My eyes seems a little better today but other symptoms are lingering. I want to give this some more time to see if the odor goes away or I develop a resistance to it because I do think it's very comfortable. Tonight I will remove my pillow covering and put my old cotton one on to see if that makes a difference. Could it be the terry pillow cover? Doubt it as I have a high thread count pillow case over it. Sigh.
How can the company say the mattress should be aired out for a few weeks! Not many people have an extra room that they can afford to let a new mattress sit and air out for a few weeks...especially when you have your old mattress taken away upon delivery of the new one. Sigh.
This too shall pass! I hope.
I have one better, we bought a Tempur-Pedic Allura and after 90 days and the smell which we couldn't handle we had it swapped out under warranty but still under Mattress Firms 100 day return. The new one came today and was in cardboard and wrapped in plastic but when they opened it and set it up it had a rip in the top along with a stain on the side. Not only was there a stain but in this triangular 12'" or so stain there were dog hairs in it. I started looking more into the bed after I was told a third bed would be brought out and looked at the tag. It was dated 6-2-2012 made in Albuqurue NM, yes the tag had the incorrect spelling and it had been glued onto another tag which had ben ripped apart but sewn to the bed. As I looked under the new tag I found a date of April 26, 2012 on the permanent tag. Yes 2 months earlier.
My summation is that Mattress Firm requires any returned beds to be clean so they can rip off the permanent tags and glue on a new one which isn't even from Temper-pidic.
Yes I would agree with you class action law suit, but with my iron clad suit I am not going to partner in a class action where the first person that starts it and the attorneys get rich but will be contacting my business lawyer and own Mattress Firm when I am done with them.
i recently ordered the tempur-pedic mattress last week. slept on it for one day which took care of my back pain but the second day my whole body broke out to rashes i went to the ER with red rashes all over my body...i'm on medication for two weeks and this itchy rashes are painfully going away...the tempur material was to blame since i didnt encounter anything new in the past week, eating the same food and in the same environment. only change was my mattress...
LIke so many of you, we had major problems after sleeping on the tempur-pedic. There has now been a class action law suit started and if you want to learn more about it you can contact my lawyer at Gerald Maples

I keep getting these extremely itchy welts on my back. Went to a dermatologist and she had no clue what it was, thought it was a cyst, wrong! Its an allergic reaction I'm having to a new Tempur-pedic mattress I received 6 months ago. I replaced my old Tempur-pedic from 2003 for this new one. Ever since I replaced the mattress I've been getting these welts that itch really bad. I haven't tried to contact the company yet, but I will. Has anyone with the same issue just tried putting a mattress cover over the top of the mattress?
I had a Tempur-pedic for 15 years and never had a problem. I made a huge mistake getting rid of it when it was still in good shape. ALL beds (unless you go totally organic, non-flame-resistant, etc.) have chemicals in them. You just might be a little more sensitive to some chemicals than others. So spending + or - hours on a new mattress of any kind might cause problems due to the constant exposure. I've replaced my mattress with a bed of straw. Not really! Even totally healthy mattress have their drawbacks. Dust mites LOVE organic materials. What's a girl to do?
Hell on earth
After much hoopla, I was pushed into buying a tempurpedic bed - I asked the salesperson, and I quote ' is tempurpedic a hot bed? I was told no! I was told that was just an urban legend and was absolutely not a hot sleeping bed. My first nihgt I was drenched in sweat, and my mattress was soaked. When I called to retun it, they said I had to pay $300 frt back to the factory - a detail they didnt mention when I bought it. I ended up giving the bed away, and bought a new cooler sleeping bed at a local store in the mall.

Tempurpedic beds have made me horribly sick to the point of having to go to the hospital. Cracking headaches, body aches, muscle pains, twitching. I couldn't eat for over a week and just was a zombie having the windows open, hoping for the gassing off effect to go away.
I have had a new one for 3 weeks and do not know what to do. I can hardly function. I am so behind on everything I need to do in life, like paperwork, etc. that you cant do with your head banging in pain and your body hurts so bad.
This is not the only story of people being made sick from the chemical makeup of the bed.
Tempurpedic needs so be stopped from manufacturing a product that can destroy your life...

Yes, I bought a cloud luxe and loved it for the 1st month but as the days went on, and the cells opened up it got softer and softer, I sunk deeper and that's when the heat problems started, it retains your body temp, because when I would get out of bed from being so hot, I would come back say 1 hour later, the bed was still warm, this is with ceiling fan, AC on 72, I tried cotton mattress pads, high count sheets, layering sheets, got the temp down some, but then it felt like a rock, make sure you get the 90 days if you buy one, I guess it's just not for everyone, I also had never bought one because of hearing about the heat issue, but the sales people told me theses new models, it was not van issue, mine is going back, and I did everything I could to get that 1st month feeling, but they are firmer when you get them until the heat, opens up the cells in the memory foam, and loose that firmness, it's definitely not for me, going back to Latex

Here's a solution for hot sleepers, the worlds first air conditioned mattress set. www.YuMebed.com
That sounds and reads great but is total BS.
The foam beds are hot and relieving pressure points has nothing to do with temperature.
When we sleep our blood pressure slows and that makes us cooler.
That's why you fall asleep with your covers off and when you wake up your covers are on.
Having the weight of your body pressed down on memory foam is not going to allow any air to get under your body, hence the heat issue.
While this does not effect everyone anyone who is hot natured or experiencing hot flashes now or in the next 10 years should avoid the product unless you want to be uncomfortable because of warmth.
They do sleep warmer because they increase blood circulation. With no pressure points (unlike metal spring beds), that added blood flow will RAISE your body temp.
I reccomend sleeping with a fan on or buying a chilipad (google it).
I own a tempur pedic and I am a big guy that normally sleeps hot, but I sleep with fan on and I love mine. It's worth it to get a good nights sleep, especially one that makes you healthier
happymom9666, Work Harder :)
The box springs can be noisy. I put some foam on the rails where they sit and the problem went away. You can get the foam at Home Depot or a similar store. I think that the rigidity of the box spring on an uneven surface causes them to tweak a little.
Great beds!
We purchased a Tempur Pedic Memory foam mattress a few years ago and have found the Mattress itself very comfortable for a good night's sleep. But we have had to have the company come our to replace the foundation 5 TIMES! The company has been very good about it, but I shouldn't have to go through the process every 4-5 months. For some reason, the foundation gets squeaky and creaky, not just in the area where we usually sleep, but all over. It sounds like cardboard up against cheap pine wood, rubbing together.
ALSO ONE OF MY BIGGEST COMPLAINTS IS THIS.. AN IMPORTANT, but embarrassing problem, WITH THIS MATTRESS: i will try to write this in a way that doesn't offend anyone.. this is something no one will tell you at the mattress store and friends will not talk about. THIS MATTRESS IS TERRIBLE FOR INTIMACY! YOU CAN BARELY MOVE IN IT. THERE ARE NO SPRINGS, WHICH MAKES MOVING AROUND FEEL LIKE YOU'RE GLUED TO THE MATTRESS. SO, IF YOU'RE A YOUNG, ACTIVE COUPLE, THINK TWICE BECAUSE THIS WILL DEFINITELY AFFECT THAT ASPECT OF A MARRIED LIFE. AND IF YOU ARE AN OLDER COUPLE, IT WILL MAKE IT EVEN MORE DIFFICULT, AS YOU SINK INTO THE MATTRESS.
I bought my Tempurpedic a year ago & absolutely love the comfort that it provides. I too get extremely hot, but I don't think it has anything to do with the mattress, rather my bout with menopause instead. My only complaint is that after some time of ownership the box spring makes a hell of a racket getting in & out of bed. Kind of sounds like loud squeaky old floor boards when walked upon. They advertise no disturbance by movement to wake the other, but rather the noise the box spring makes upon movement sure does!
My mother owns a tempur pedic and I own one too. I have the adjustable queen, she has the normal king.
I'm super sweaty most of the time and have fevers almost every day because of chronic illnesses and I don't find the Tempur pedic hot at all. I don't find it puts off any chemical gasses or anything bizarre like some people say. They are good and last a long time.
The only complaint is that after about 5 years your body starts to leave a small imprint of maybe 1 inch. But this can be probably be minimized by rotating the bed every couple years.
I find it really comfortable and it takes the pressure off my body. I have fibromyalgia among 1000 other things and it really helps me sleep.
Maybe some beds get hot, i'm not sure. But ours don't so I would recommend it. Very comfortable! Expensive, but worth it.
Whatever u do, check out the complaints for sleepnumber cuz i almost bought one until i read the 100000 complaints about them!
Beware!

Tempurpedic is a toxic wasteland that you are sleeping on and probably spending more time than that, because you feel sick.
Banging headaches, sore throat, muscle pain, twitching muscles, cant eat for weeks, That is what I spent $4, 000. for... ?
I am so sick I do not know what to do. I have to get it out of my house...
My wife and I bought a Tempur-Pedic mattress because of all the hype and their claim that it is the most comfortable mattress, yada, yada, yada... Well a year and a half later, this is the most expensive turture implement I have ever bought! We both wake up with aches and pains every day. I can't sleep for more than an hour in the same position before the pain wakes me up and I have to flip over. If you really look at their guarantee it is garbage. Basically you will spend a few hundred dollars to test it out (what it will cost to send back) for 90 days. After that you are on your own. Not worth buying in my opinion.
I was sold a TEMPUR-PEDIC bed from SLEEP EZZ in Kitchener, ON and when it was delivered the toxic smell was so bad I couldn't even go in my room. We contacted the store and they said it would go away in a few days. Well it didn't and they refused to refund the product. In fact they told me it was all in my head and I was too sensitive. (Nice customer service...insult your customers) They even suggested to spray Febrize on it! Are you kidding me?! So spray more toxic artificial chemicals on to an already chemical wasteland they call a mattress! So after spending $6000 on a mattress I couldn't sleep on the bed, I couldn't sleep in my own room for that matter and it took 7 months for the smell to go away. I contacted the tempur-pedic manufacturer and they said they wouldn't replace it/refund it. They said the only way to get rid of the smell was to sleep on it! Which I did for a few nights but it made me sick! I was pregnant at the time too and can you believe they suggested that a pregnant women sleep on a bed that made her sick! This coming from a company that claims be concerned about customer health! Both Sleep Ezz and Tempur-pedic are all about profits and don't care what they put their customers through. Buyer beware for both Tempur-pedic and Sleep Ezz.
Here is some more information: Tempur-Pedic mattresses get their distinct supportive properties because of the chemical processes used in manufacturing. People with chemical allergies or sensitivities may be affected by the chemicals in a Tempur-Pedic mattress. Symptoms include disrupted sleep, itching eyes, sneezing, rashes, nausea, headaches or respiratory distress. These symptoms are unlikely to lessen over time, so people with chemical allergies should avoid Tempur-Pedic mattresses. However, people with allergies to dust mites or other common allergens associated with bedding may experience allergy relief with a Tempur-Pedic mattress because it is resistant to allergens
Certain people have reactions to tempur material but not everyone. I LOVE my tempur-pedic pillow.
