careless and inapt
TD is very careless in judging its client and employee. I'm so sorry to say it. Because of their small careless action, my life siffered a lot. I came in Canada as an international student, finished study and started to work with TD. I'm socially very active and post some writings on international politics on Facebook. TD didn't like even though it has nothing to do with TD nor anything with Canada. It was a local newspaper of a 3rd world country, the language of the newspaper even not English. On the comment section online, I just posted certain comment with the culture and attitude of that country. There is nothing to do with TD nor Canada nor USA. Just because of that they fired me. I'm even new in Canada and I do not much know here the standards. I came in government scholarship for a bright future. But all TD did is not only fired me but also informed all other financial institutions that I'm a potential threat or terrorist in Canada. After that, I got job offer from Royal Bank, Scotiabank, all of them at the backgorund check step withdrew their offer simply because when they checked with TD, TD informed them all those things about me. I'm totally an innocent person, facebook is just for fun and I made some fun comments there. It made my life extreme difficult. They even reported to government unit and for that intilligence even had met with me several times. before i gave my employment histroy with other places I even checked with TD human resources, they promised me that they do not release any confidential info to anyone; yet they mutually share it. I became mentally and psychologically extreme sick and lost my trust in Canada. And today, I received letter from TD even they cancel my checking account, credit card with them. i would request the TD corporate to be more sincere about judging. Because this inapt action, my life became difficult everywhere. I don't know where is my next employment. I would love TD very much but now there is nothing more than TD that I hate. TD has no right to spoil my life and my future career. At least they should tell me that they will share it with others in that case I wouldn't give TD in my work history. I am being an innocent young graduate was trying to build my life; but TD's careless judgement on people made my life dark. All that I have is, i trust in God and God will judge it.

hsa made inactive without notice
I have a Health Savings Account with TD Bank, not by choice, but with my
former company. Knowing that I had large medical bills approaching,
less than a year ago I decided to save the money for those bills. I
have received a statement every month showing the correct balance, with
interest added every month. A few weeks ago, I attempted to pay a bill,
using up the balance of the account. Today I received my payment
remittance back, and the billing representative stated that the payment
was rejected. Called TD Bank and was told that the account was
inactive. I was told that a letter had been sent at some point in the
past three months - I never received any letter. Then I was told that
the only way I could reactivate the account is to go into a branch and
make a deposit. They will not reactivate it over the phone, even though
they are speaking directly to me. I made it clear that I am attempting
to pay a medical bill and that because they did this without notice,
that bill is now late and my credit has been dinged for it. They do not
care.

certified check held-social security
After opening my account online I still had 1 more direct deposit going into my old Prepaid account (Bluebird by American Express). After paying my bills out of that account I got a pre-authorized check for the remaining balance ($600). I went to the branch and deposited it with $100 cash back being told that the rest would be available in a day. On the 5th I went to the grocery store where my debit was declined. I called and was on the phone 30 minutes and was told I would be called back. She never did. Leaving my groceries at the store I went to the branch and was told he made a entry and it would be cleared the next day. Another lie. Yesterday I called again and was told there was nothing they could do. That explanation is absolutely ridiculous. I'm on Social Security and they won't even tell me why they won't give me my money or when.

not the most convenient bank
11/01 - TDBANK wait times are really long. I finally got through the customer representative after being on hold for over 20 minutes. i needed website assistance so I was transferred for another 20 minutes wait period and then disconnected.
Terrible, I will be changing banks. Certainly NOT the most convenient bank in America
Annoying!

customer support
I woke up this morning to a voicemail asking to call the store, and no further information. I called, and spoke to a representative who said he would go get the person I needed since she was not currently busy. He wound up transferring my call to a blank line so I was waiting there for 2 hours before I hung up. I called back, not in the best mood for good reason, and the same guy picked up, and told me I was in the wrong for being upset. Finally, after arguing with that know-nothing, I wound up on the phone with the lady I needed to speak with. She just wanted to confirm my email address. She could easily have let me know that in the voicemail, because for that time when I was on hold I was worried something happened to my account, as its a savings account only. Overall the customer support was extremely poor, and unapologetic. I am closing the account immediately and changing accounts.

TD bank is a scam with their " pending transactions ". I just sat down with a branch manager for over and hour trying to figure out exactly what they are up to.. Basically, when you make a purchase with available funds. They remove those funds and " withhold them " to ensure the amount gets processed some days later when it " hard posts " to your account. If your account is negitive at the time of the " hard posting " then you will get hit with an overdraft fee. Even though those funds have already been "withheld" to ensure they will process at the Point of sale.
In the words of my local branch manager " The way TD bank operates is very deceiving, you can get overdraft charges twice on the same transaction if it made your account negitive at the point of sale, and at the time of the ' hard posting', a 'double whammy'. You should always keep money in your account."
It's very confusing but if it has happens to you then it makes perfect sense. Complete scam. When your bank tells you they are " deceiving " and overdraft twice on the same charge. It's time to get a new bank.
Example, make a purchase at subway for 10$ on a tuesday when you only have 4$ and your bank will " pend" the funds for a couple days. They take the funds immediately and hold them, so you ARE spending the $ at the time. Your bank will be $6 negative. You will get charged a 35$ OD fee At this time. The subway 10$ transaction will show as " pending " on your account
Bank balance is now negative 41$
Don't make any more purchases, leave your bank negative for a few days, until the 10$ you spent " hard posts" to your account.
You get charged another 35$ OD fee at the time of the "hard posting"
Bank balance is now negative 76$ from the same 10$ purchase
If you don't believe it I encourage you to try it.
I've never seen any bank practice like this, and I've had several of them. They actually refunded me 70$ on the spot because of this deceiving tactic.
If your like me and live paycheck to paycheck. Avoid TD bank. I closed my account immediately after I found out about this nonsense.
quicken bill pay
I've been with TD Bank for 10 years. I use Quicken to pay my bills. In May TD Bank decided to block Quicken access in favor of their bill pay, which just doesn't work for me. I have 3 checking accounts and one savings account.
- It doesn't show my FUTURE balance, so I have to re-enter in Quicken to determine how much money I need to provide in each account
- It doesn't track my expense categories (for taxes), Quicken does.
- Since I have to continue to use Quicken to track expenses, I have to re-enter all transactions in Quicken (2nd time is undesired extra work)
- When it updates, TD bank doesn't match all my Quicken transactions, so I often have to correct the TD entry in Quicken (a 3rd time dealing with the same transaction - certainly not desirable)
- It doesn't allow enough time to make notes, I get logged off and have to re-start the entire TD session (Quicken doesn't log me off)
- I have to pay all TD bills in one account, then the 2nd account, and then the 3rd. (Quicken allows me to pay bills from any account in any order)
After trying to get satisfaction, the net result is that both local and regional TD Bank management didn't/couldn't/wouldn't do anything.
Chase Bank allows the use of Quicken direct connect and I'm moving all my accounts over there! They were very pleased I'm joining them.
obtaining mortgage
I am trying to obtain a Mortgage from TD bank, and on my CLOSING DATE, now they want to call my employer to verify I still have a job. They already have verification of employment papers, stating my changes of continued employement are excellent, but I guess that is not good enough. We have a 2 hour drive (as we are on vacation) to get to this closing, not including the time it takers to get the certified check, but now they want this. They are incompetent and cannot do their job. ... have had to e-mail documents several times to the processor, but somehow they keep getting lost. TOTAL INCOMPETENCE!. I will be sending a letter to the CEO of TD bank to let them know how very unhappy we are with their service, and am advising anyone we know not to deal with this bank.

I have no idea why my post above didn't accept apostrophes or quotes
We've had TD Bank for over 15 years, and in the last 24 months or so, we've had our debit card(s) compromised three times, deposits made to another customer's account, extra cash given back from stated amount on withdrawal slip (that we were honest enough to bring back), and we received a letter (to all customers) stating they "lost" an important tape containing customer's banking information (thanks for the warning!). With the latest compromise on my debit card, a woman at the bank told me they didn't "red flag" it because it looked like a purchase we would make. Then she tried to sell me identity theft protection, which, btw, she told me wouldn't have helped in the case of the latest fraudulent charge to my debit card. I asked her, "then why would I pay for a service that doesn't work?" She had a careless... and I mean "I could care less" attitude with me (most likely due to similar calls she receives all day long). The discrepancies I mentioned above took place at three different locations. We have since opened up accounts at a credit union and are in the process of closing all of our accounts with TD Bank.
poor customer service
Back in early January, 2013, I called the bank to stop a payment on a check made to an auto loan, I feared the check had been lost in the mail over the Holidays, and gave them the check number, they processed the stop payment and charged me the fee, which I had absolutely no problem with. I expected it. Last week, I paid this months bill to the auto loan on the telephone authorizing the money to be taken out of the checking account, and the bank stopped the withdrawl saying there was a stop payment issued, even though they had allowed the withdrawl in January, February, March and April. I immediately calle dthe bank and they admitted that it was a mistake on their end, and categorized it as "human error." But, in the process, the customer serice was abysmal. The woman to whom I spoke was rude, degarding and extremely condescending on the phone, whne I called back to complain I was told that she handled the situation correctly, and they didn't believe she did anything wrong. Not only is this back charging fees which are horrendous but they are treating their customers like a pile of crap in the process of doing so.

missing money
My relatives have been having problems with this branch for years. The problem that it is known for is money (minus $10-20) gone missing after you deposit it in person. You will get a phone call after a few days saying the rep has miss counted the money or the money is missing. However, at the time of deposit, the rep counts it twice and confirms that it's correct.

The second time that this happens, you should change banks.
sneaky overdraft tactic
Well I am a business owner with all the money that goes in daily it's hard to keep track so every morning I get up and check my accounts, if I need to pay a bill or a debt is coming out if needed I run to the bank in the AM for a quick deposit just so my account does not overdraft. Well that's exactly what I did this week ran to the bank to deposit money, everything was great showed no overdrafts than get a letter mailed 4 days later with $105.00 in overdraft fees than I check online and my account shows nothing with overdrafts but the woman on the phone lea who's supposed to be a supervisor said well because of a pending transaction that was being held that's what caused the overdraft of 3 other items that came in but again the funds have and were always in the account! As soon as I can i will be switching to chase because TD is definitely pissing me off...

overdraft fees!!!
Deposited my check after 2:00 aware that i could not use my funds (was told i could only use 100.00 for that day only) until the following day, so I did as told. I checked online that night and i was still in good standing. The next morning around 11:00 i checked online banking and to my surprise I was over drafted $170.00! I called the bank. They did not seem to care. I did not fully understand what was going on and what happened to my money. Before i knew it my overdraft fees was out of control. I decided to pay off my overdraft fees even though i know I was robbed by TD Bank. I plan on closing my account ASAP and maybe try to seek legal action! Please beware and stay away from this bank.

Although my problems were not this bad I can relate to a degree back in May of this year I did ask for a copy of a check to be mailed they forget my issue was the way I had to id myself to check the status of the check now I have no problem in preventing theft but to have to tell them when was the last time a purchase was made was a bit much. I am still scratching my head why they insisted that would be better off on going to a branch instead of having them mail it. What the heck was with that. The request was made it was in reason but they insisted on going to the branch. Another favorite this happened several years ago was asked to take part of a survey told the person wasn't interested but they did try to insist on it? They claim they are America's best bank, if you don't mind in dealing with a ### they are ideal. Long story short went back to valley.
I deposited paycheck and I was told that next day I have access to 100% of funds, but that was not the case at all. The Bank does not want to take responsibility for their misleading actions and due to the fact that I suffered losses.
overdraft fees
I went into td bank this morining with my son. He had an overdraft fee of $140. Oo. On account history it was a positive balance and showed no returns all for 4/8/13. The overdraft fee was dated 4/9/2013. Thought I had it resovled with the bank to 0 balance so we could close the account. He had one item pending so could not close the account this morning...

Took repeated visits to the bank and multiple phone calls, wasted a lot of time on the phone trying to get these dumbos to change one savings account to another type, and they still haven't done it. This is one of the worst banks I have seen. I should have heeded my alarm bells when I opened the account a few months ago, they did it fast but made a typo in my wife's name, the agent said, oops, I cannot correct it on the spot, we should have walked away right then and there but didn't (I had to spend time on the phone later and we had to come back in person because of the dumbo). I certainly do not recommend this bank to anyone.
After getting a mortgage with this bank took longer than it should have..I went to open a savings account that I wanted to use to pay my mortgage and save money also..The officer gave me a temporary password. But for some reason after several attempts it didn't work..So I guess I have to go back to the branch.. Didn't feel like waiting a half hour on the phone to see speak to someone. That was the minimum wait they said.
Unfortunately, as you said, they are the most INconvenient bank. The only convenient thing they do is stay open late and open a few hours on Sundays. However, they don't get anything done correctly the first time. I have had multiple problems with their account set up process, errors in applying funds to an HSA, typos on documents, etc. Also, call their customer service line and you are guaranteed a 10-30 minute wait with an annoying TD Bank advertisement loop... its short, so you have to hear the same thing over and over, and very loud, so you cannot even put them on speaker and do work while you are waiting.
refinancing
I am very upset with TD Bank processors! They are forever being out and
changing what they need from me! Now they say they can't do anything for
me unless I give them $10, 000 for refinance closing costs! Ridiculous! I really wanted a local bank to help me! I thought they were the answer!

You don't say what type of loan you are re finiancing or what your credit rating is. Bad review
No one is entitled to an explanation regarding why you were denied a loan.
I don't know for certain, but I actually think they do have to tell you why it was denied. Usually it is probably generic like based on credit check with xyz, we are denying your loan. Too many illegal reasons to deny a loan for them not to tell you one of the millions of legal reasons they can deny it.
There is something very wrong at TD Bank. If you are entertaining the idea of refinancing or establishing a line of credit with TD, think again.(and again, and again) Their process is without a doubt the most unprofessional, arbitrary, and aggravating experience you can have. They ask for the same paperwork multiple times using excuses that are pathetically transparent delays. This was the very worst encounter I have had in doing business with any bank. Branch employee's are at a loss to explain the lack of performance and actions that would best be described as lies and harrassment by the processing group. If you believe this is an overstatement, then by all means try your luck but don't say you were never warned.
creative debit arrangement
Like so many others TD Bank has been overcharging various fees. I worked 16 years in the banking industry in NYC and have never seen a bank finagle the debits like this bank does. Informed them that debits are done in date order not highest to lowest. You would think with a lawsuit on their hands they would try to appease their customers. When I questioned their tactics I was told that this is what I signed up for. Informed them that with the new year coming there will be a new back coming.

I am so upset on TD bank. I paid them my safe deposit box money a year ago on Jan 4th. They still have charge me after a year. I deposited checks at the ATM and the amount in which was deposited P never received however, The money was taking out of my direct deposit account. checking account
After cashing my paycheck, I checked my account online. The teller made my paycheck a check agaist my account, and now the account was in the red. When I called and spoke to the VERY rude manager Lauren, she told me there was nothing she could do. I would like her to be repremended because now my son is sleeping in a dirty diaper since I can't go out and get any.

TD Bank is the absolute worse bank around. They talk about their customer service, yet they have terrible customer service. They incorrectly charged me $210 in overdraft fees even though I had funds in my account to cover my transactions. I called, asking what in the world the $210 was for and that is when I was told it was for overdraft protection. I was so upset and did not understand why they were charging me for overdraft protection when I had the funds in my account to cover my transactions. The told me it was an error, and that I had automatically been signed up for overdraft since I used to be a Commerce customer. That did not make any sense because I didn't have overdraft protection for Commerce either. They reversed the $210 charge. The next day, I had another charge for $105. Apparently, when they took out the $210 there were other transactions that were pending which could not be paid because of their $210 mistake. So even though my account should have been in the positive, it was in the negative and they had the nerve to charge me $105 overdraft charge. I called and explained the situation, they even looked in the notes but refused to reverse the $105 charge. If they had not mistakenly charged me the $210, I would have had enough to cover the remaining transactions. This bank is terrible. I am cancelling my account immediately.
so..the same thing just happend to me 3 weeks in a row..i had the funds in my account and td bank has charged me a 210.00 overdraft fee..refunded me that...then the next week they charged me a $70 and a $105...then refunded me that finnally after hours of complaing that i had the funds in my account . After all that was fixed i get my payroll in and they charge me a 105.00 overdraft yet again and refuse to refund it back and tell me I'm wrong. I would have had enough money to cover my transactions if it wasn't for the previous over draft fee..I have a one year old son and now im wondering how im gonna make ends meet this week because of there negligence. MOST HORRIBLE BANK EVER...my story is very similar to yours
