I purchased the Helio modular sofa from Structube TransCanada for over $3,000 at full price. After just one year of normal use, the cushions became severely flattened, lost their shape, and began shedding feathers daily. I followed all recommended maintenance — daily fluffing, rotating, and redistributing the filling — yet the deterioration continued. In addition, the base of one of the modules is visibly dented, despite the sofa never being mishandled or subjected to unusual use.
When I contacted Structube, the responses were dismissive and contradictory. I was even told to “avoid sitting in the same spot,” which is an unreasonable expectation for a sofa intended for everyday use. Instead of acknowledging the poor durability and the dented base, they blamed “normal wear and tear” and a supposed “lack of care,” despite my detailed explanation of the maintenance I performed. Their only proposed solution was for me to purchase additional filling myself.
This is especially frustrating because the salesperson assured me at the time of purchase that the showroom model had been on display for over three years and still looked excellent. Mine did not last a fraction of that time. Structube refused to offer any meaningful resolution and hid behind the expired one‑year warranty, ignoring Quebec’s legal warranty of reasonable durability. For a $3,000+ sofa to deteriorate this quickly — including a dented base — is unacceptable, and the customer service I received was equally disappointing.
Claimed loss: Over $3,000 paid for a sofa that deteriorated after one year, including flattened cushions, feather loss, and a dented base.
Desired outcome: I am requesting a meaningful resolution such as cushion replacement, proper restuffing at no cost, repair or replacement of the dented base, or another remedy that reflects Quebec’s legal warranty of reasonable durability.
