I recently contacted Smithville to inquire about upgrading my internet service for faster speeds. To my disappointment, they informed me that in order to achieve better speeds, I would need to pay for the upgrade of their equipment, which would cost around $300-$400. I find this to be quite unfair. Why should I have to bear the cost of upgrading their outdated equipment just to receive the service I'm already paying for? It's worth mentioning that I initially signed up for their fiber-optic service when it was first introduced, so it's understandable that the equipment may be outdated. Currently, my speeds are consistently below 300 megabytes, despite paying for that exact speed. The actual speed I receive varies depending on the time of day, but I never come close to the 300 megabytes I'm supposed to be getting. *(I'm actually looking to upgrade to 1 gigabyte speed.)
