Shoppers Drug Mart employee's failure to provide quality customer service

I wish that I can say that I was exaggerating, but this isn't the case!

It was between the hours of 8:00PM- 8:30PM that I entered lane 4 after Cassandra instructed an employee who had just clocked in to open his register. As shown on my receipt attached the cashier's name is, (Wilhelm, K). However, he didn't complete my transaction at all. Cassandra had instructed Chiquita that it was okay to ring up my groceries. Prior to ringing up my items Chiquita's manners were unsanitary. She coughed and didn't bother to spray her hand with any Hand Sanitizer. It was disgusting! I grabbed my bags and put them in the cart so prevent any contact between her touching my bags.

I wanted to return some items, so it took me a little longer in line to decide on which items I'd remove from my transaction. There was a customer behind me. He was patient and even had his music playing in his ears. Chiquita went from creating an almost descent shopping experience to terrible. I didn't receive any warning, before she turned to the original cashier (Wilhelm, K) and beckoned him to ring me up. Impatiently she said, "You're gonna have to go into his lane. He'll finish ringing you up. You can't hold up my line!" Immediately, I was livid. She had little to no respect for me as a customer from the beginning of her coming to the line to take over the original cashier's (Wilhem, K)'s lane. I felt rushed! When I've been walking around to shop for particular items and you finally reach an open lane, I expect to be treated with common courtesy as a paying customer and that the cashier will maintain a professional attitude with me. I responded "Who do you think you're rushing? I'm a paying customer! The last thing you need to do is rush me. Where are you in a rush to? The next register? I'm not moving to another lane!" She didn't apologize, she called Cassandra. When Cassandra approached the register she asked, "What's going on?" Chiquita changed her whole tone and played the victim, saying "I don't know." I told Cassandra exactly what happened, mainly that Chiquita rushed me. Cassandra pulled me to other lane where the original cashier had relocated. I told her that I won't move, but when she told me that she couldn't open up my transaction because Chiquita had already closed it out I moved. I was fussy and informed Cassandra that I was disappointed with the service that I had received. When I had first entered the store a Fruity Pebbles bag of cereal was on my grocery list, as I looked on the shelf the Fruit Loops were in the place of the Fruity Pebbles. A few of the other bags of cereal were out of place. I grabbed another employee, Dawitt. He was lazy, didn't offer any suggestions or offer further help. I told him what I could do was grab 2 boxes instead and to find the manager to see if he/she would approve of a discount since the items were out of place. Cassandra told me that she'd give me a discount, just find her when I'm at a checkout lane. This experience was a bit disappointing because the Customer Service seemed lazy and that Cassandra only offered enough just to get by, she wasn't enthusiastic and her responses to my complaint about the cereal seemed like a bunch of excuses, as well as, placing blame on others instead of taking full accountability to fix the problem.

Then, I had to face another rude employee after walking around for quite some time to do some shopping. I didn't feel like a valued customer. Cassandra didn't apologize once even when I mentioned that she didn't apologize. She responded as if I was trying to get a FREE checkout. Her response was, "I offered you a discount on 1 of your boxes of cereal. That's the best that I can do!" She did inform me that she would speak to Chiquita about the incident, but it didn't sound believable. Cassandra treated me like I was just another customer trying to get some FREE stuff! Before I left I let Cassandra know that I'll be filing a complaint.

I've been shopping at this Shopper's randomly for over 10+ years, as I'm part of the community! Cassandra has only worked for this Shopper's store# 2649 for 2 years. This is my first problem that I've encountered with a cashier. I usually shop at other retailers, but wanted to see the new renovations to the store since it was recently constructed! I was displeased with the way this cashier handled her job, me as a customer, and her failure to perform her role at a descent level at least, if not professionally. She also seemed paranoid and fidgeted a lot, unlike the original cashier (Wilhelm, K). It made me uncomfortable! This is a neighborhood store. I shouldn't have to come into avoid this cashier, if she'll be working there any longer. She should perform her job with pride rather than being nonchalant and again, playing victim when approached by the manager. She's not paying for anything. This is food. If you act this way in role working around food, then this isn't a job for you!

In conclusion, I'm certain that this complaint will make it to Chiquita's record. I hope this serves as constructive criticism and that Chiquita will learn how to conduct herself more successfully in her cashier role, that she applied for in the first place. I prefer happy, energetic, and knowledgeable professionals working in my community not someone I'm moved to instruct because they don't take their job seriously. There are plenty of people that can succeed in her role if/when replaced! This type of behavior doesn't add value to the store overall. When you lose a long-term customer you lose out on funds and that customer will tell between 10 to 20 other customers. Before entering the store I was in a joyful mood, consequently when I left I was frustrated and thinking of writing a complaint to corporate, writing a complaint on google, writing a complaint on Yelp, and no longer shopping at Shopper's. I'm requesting a full refund due to this highly displeasing shopping experience!

Shoppers Drug Mart osvaldo beauty counselor at 901 ste-catherine e

In my entire life, I have never encountered such a rude, impolite, unprofessional individual working in the service industry. I like this location because a man named " Say" always provided me the nicest, competent service ever.

Tonight, Say was not working, Osvaldo was. First he never greated me, I ended up going toward him because I had questions about wrinkle creams. As soon as I was walking toward him and GREATING HIM, HE turned his back on me! I made a sign with my hand ( stay there, I need you, sort of hand waving...). By this time, Osvaldo was nonchalently
holding his chin while is elbow on the counter! What a great way to present urself to a client.

I ask him about the type of product Im looking for A WRINKLE FILLER CREAM, anything like that. Osvaldo responds WAIT. He goes and asks his collegue to serve me ... she was already busy with 2 other clients!
So I made a huge mistake and insisted that HE shows me a few products. He answers :" listen Im a MAKEUP EXPERT DO U UNDERSTAND MAKEEEEUUUUPPPP EXPERT not wrinkle, so my collegue will help you". I told him "are u blind ? She is BUSY WITH CLIENTS. My request is EASY to fullfill and there is NO ONE TO DO MAKEUP RIGHT NOW! should not be that complicated! Just because your an artist expert makeup whatever doesn't mean u can't help clients finding a product ! "

He responded " What's the problem ? U WAIT THAT's ALL" . Is this a professional talking to me ? Is this the service expected by a pharmacy such as pharmaprix ?

So, the supervisor of the tellers comes, refuses to identy herself later by phone ( because I called back to solve this INTERNALLY). While IM THERE, Osvaldo is SCREAMING " LA CLIENTE EST [censored]ED UP MAN ". Well I'm hearing everything, I didn't appreciate the lack of experience of the supervisor who didn't even have the common sense to tell the employee to SHUT UP or at least not insult me in my face. I mean I was right there next to them.

Why Im [censored]ed up ? I ask, why should I wait to be served if Osvaldo is free ? Ahhhh he's ONLY the makeup expert... As a client this doesnt make sense to me. Furthermore he was beyonnnd rude. Way beyond.

I even asked him to stop talking to me, he told me " I do what I want you will not tell me not to talk I do what I want". Well, I MOVED AWAY FROM HIM SEING HE WILL NOT DIFFUSE THE SITUATION HE FOLLOWED ME and kept spitting his rage on me while the, excuse me, stupid teller supervisor is ONLY WATCHING.

When I called later on to have the name of the employee who served me like [censored], the cash supervisor felt harassed ( I CALLED ONCE HOW IS THIS HARASSING?). and put me through another male supervisor. HIM ASWELL, did not diffuse the situation, didn't let me talk ( even cut me short ) or explain what happened. and furthermore accused me of being harassing and having harrased Osvaldo and the team while I was there.

HE WAS NOT THERE, to spit this in my face. I hang up on his face because he was YELLING, was ANGRY, and talking to me like Im his daughter. I am 45 YEARS OLD I DONT NEED ANY MORAL FROM ANOTHER YET! INCOMPETENT EMPLOYEE.

I left this branch crying, no bo dy apologized for what happened and NOBODY HAD ANY SENSE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. Osvaldo, lyer, pleaded he thought Id get better service with his collegue. WHY HE DIDNT TELL ME THAT PO- LI- TE- LY ? I WAS WONDERING WHERE HE HAD GONE EXPECTING HIM TO RETURN WITH A PRODUCT, HE RETURNS WITH HIS COLLEGUE THAT TOOOK OFFF BECAUSE SHE WAS BUSY WITH 2 CLIENTS ALREADY.

MEEEE THE CLIENNNT TELLLL YOUUUU I WOULLLD HAVVVE PREFERRED A FASTER SERVICE EVEN IF OSVALDO WOULD OF SHOWN ME 2 Products instead of 13. As well, right of the bat, when I asked for a CREAM, he made a face of disgust, his tone was already rude, and he was ALREADY UNPLEASANT.

This is the [censored]tiest service all industries confonded I have ever received in my life in the entire world including Paris( God knows they are not service focused).

If Osvaldo thinks working is waiting for ur shift to be done, don't enjoy talking to clients, I mean why is he there? Ohh to do makeup.

Shoppers Drug Mart prescriptions

On several occasions the shoppers we go to has short changed us on some of our meds. They have also called to tell us that our prescriptions were ready and when we went to pick them up they only had a partial number of the meds because they said they didn't carry the full amount and would have to order the rest. The person who counted the pills said they used the machine to count them instead of counting them by hand. Our shoppers is store is #0774 located in Mississauga. Could you please follow up on this problem and let me know

Shoppers Drug Mart beauty department homer street vancouver

After purchasing a perfume refill bottle that encourages customers to try a perfume before spending a few hundred on it, I was refused to refill it. Please don't sell these products if you Choose to not fill them for people that shop at your stores. Janice Lee, the so called beauty management, did not want to do her job. Instead told me to go to Sephora, which is not a shoppers drug mart, where I purchased it. At least the other shoppers location came through and honoured there product. Please avoid her and that location if you want good customer service.

Shoppers Drug Mart not able to pay with valid insurance card (blue cross)

Flew from New Brunswick to Grande Prairie, Alberta to assist family who had been in a bad car accident and while here for a few weeks, ran out of one prescription. Went in to get a refill. Pharmacy gladly filled the order, however would not accept my valid Blue Cross insurance card and charge only the co-pay. Expected me to pay the full amount and try to recoup it when arriving back in New Brunswick. The charge for the medication was over $300.00, which I was not prepared to pay at this time, therefore have to go without my medication until I arrive back in New Brunswick which could be very detrimental to my health. I pay for insurance for a reason. It is supposed to be valid throughout Canada, not just in New Brunswick. I am not very happy with this and think something should be done before it happens to someone else!

Shoppers Drug Mart self service check out machines

I made few purchases at shoppers drug mart at 747 Don Mills Road, Toronto, ON and used self service check out as I usually do at other stores. When I am exiting the door, the Alarm started screaming. I went to the cashier and she checked and confirmed everything was fine. She told that it is a problem with the machine.I was very uncomfortable when other customers looked at me like I stolen something. Then I called the store supervisor and she too told me this is very common at their store.I choose the option to use the check out machine instead of going to a cashier as there was a line up. However I felt like naked in front of all other customers for stealing something which I never intended. This is soo bad experience and hope would fix and at least apologise next time if it happen.

Shoppers Drug Mart front store manager

This complaint is about SDM#570 in Manuals CBS NL.
I am a former employee of this store and i have to say that Loren Allen has to be one of the hardest managers that I have ever worked with. I have seen the way he talks to employees and he has actually made employees cry because he yells at them and when he asks for an explanation from the employee about an issue Loren may have with this employee Loren will interrupt the employee and wave his arms and yell I don't care and I never want to hear about this issue again, which make the employees get upset and cry. No wonder there is such a turn over in employees. When Loren gets stressed or upset EVERYONE knows to give him space(it's not going to be a good day).
With regards to the employee survey nobody complains because they think nothing will be done about any concerns. When I went over Loren's head to the store Associate (Keith bailey) my work life was never the same much more stress and I felt like I was being force to quite, so I did.
FYI...There has been 4 assistant managers and 2 cash manager that have left within the last 4 years. That's the most turn over in Management team members I have ever seen. (Not Good)

Shoppers Drug Mart complaint

Poor, Poor Service.
Being a long term customer, I called in two prescription refills on Sunday Sept 15th 2018. Next day, Monday evening I get a voice message (at 11.00pm) telling me that one item was ready for pick up, but the second item, all releases had expired and a Fax was being sent to my doctors for a prescription up date. Please keep in mind that the drugs concerned here are related to a Heart condition. By Noon Friday Sept 21st I had heard no news from Shoppers so I decided to give them a call. It appears that a second Fax was sent to my doctors office that morning (Friday), but they could not give me an exact time or date for when the first Fax was sent? I made three calls to this Shoppers location thereafter trying to get help re an allowance on drugs, and explained to them (after several doctors office calls) that my doctors office was now closed for the weekend. I eventually talked to the Pharmacist at this location and all he could tell me was to go visit a local 'Walk in Clinic' to up date my prescription, or pay their $15.00 pre-release drug charge.
At no time did he ask me if I was able to get to a clinic, or even if I had any disabilities? After ending our conversation I called 'Walmart' and asked for their help. I immediately transferred all my medication needs to them. Within 30 minutes of making this call I had six tablets in hand (for free) from Walmart ensuring my needs for approximately 3/4 days, and relieving my stress & problem.

As explained to the Shoppers Pharmacist when on the phone. It appears that they have a process in place for letting you know about items ready for pick up, but nothing in place (re good communications) for drug re-fill delays or problem issues.

I'm not a huge (big $) customer of Shoppers Drug Mart, but this experience will avoid me using their stores for any future needs.

Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy service

Today I filled a prescription at the store located in Parry Sound on Bowes road. There was a brief power outage and so I left to go to work and phoned them later to find out if they were up and running. I was told my prescription would then be ready in 30 minutes. I went on my break from work and the front store manager Karen was trying to put through an order for someone who was affiliated with Shoppers, not a customer. I was told they couldn't put through my order because someone's order was suspended on the computer. They made me wait an additional 10 minutes as they tried to put through some transaction, again for someone other than a customer. Maybe a store order. They finally suspended that transaction and was able to ring me through. They should have really done that initially rather than telling me that they could not help me until their order went through. This clearly wasn't true because they ultimately had to suspend the transaction. I am seriously considering taking my business elsewhere.

Shoppers Drug Mart more transparent marketing and policies needed

I was at the Shoppers Drug Mart at Warden and Sheppard on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:15 am. I bought toothpaste which said that if I bought 2, the third one would be free. So I bought 3 tubes of toothpaste of the same brand but different sizes with different promises on them. The price was the same for all.
So I returned them at 1:09 pm.
Here's what I discovered:
1) I cannot mix and match.
2) My bonus Optimum points would be rescinded and I could not reuse the digital offer.
So
1) Why can I not mix and match? The toothpaste was from the same brand and the price was the same. If I can't mix and match, there should be a sign that tells me so.
2)Why can't I reuse the digital offer? I was willing to repurchase everything.
None of what I requested is unreasonable. If I had shopped at an American company like Walmart and Costco, there would not be any of this disrespect to the consumer. Explain to me why I should remain a customer of Shoppers Drug Mart.

Shoppers Drug Mart service

I went to the store on Hespeler Road in cambridge Ontario. Used self check out because its quicker. Used a visa gift card to pay. Approved! Except it needed to be re-approved by an employee. So I turned around and I see a cashier looking at me all irate. she comes over looks at the screen i say hi how are you? Being the business professional that I try to be to everyone I meet. Well she says "Im good". Not even asking me how i was back! Rude! Then she goes on about trying to school me about how the self check out wont complete an order if I use a Visa gift card. I said ok sorry I didnt know that & the card went through btw she said yeah I know but your supposed to go to a cashier to check out. (No signs to indicate) . She kept going on and on im thinking like omg. . Shut up already ..So much so that I stopped her mid sentence and I said " maybe I just wont buy this at all how about that?" Oh no she said you cant get a refund its gone through. I was irate at that point because if I cant be refunded for my order then whats all of her complaining about? Do your job and fix the terminal screen for the customer and keep your annoying rambling to your self except if its to ask a customer how you can assist them or hi how are you would be nice! Not impressed at all. Went today around 1:30pm Heslpeler Road in cambridge, ON. Never again, unless I feel like fighting.

Shoppers Drug Mart customer service rep

Hello,

First off I would like to say I never send complaints for poor service but I felt that I needed to pass along this feedback so you are aware. When I was in the Shoppers Drug Mart on West Broadway and Bayswater in Vancouver, I was looking at a perfume that was in a box. I started to open the cardboard to smell the perfume as most do to smell scents. The customer servuce rep, Jay, very rudedly came up to me (without saying hello or asking if I needed help) told me I am was aloud to open it; which I understand. After asking if they had a tester that I could smell he told me no and that he would bring it up to the front for me to purchase. I understand that you don't want people opening the packaging but truly felt this situation was handled extremely poorly, considering I did not ruin the packaging and it was still in sellable form.

Never once in my life have I been forced to purchase an item without asking if I wanted to. I have now worked in customer service and retail for over 8 years and would never think to treat a long-time paying customer of years the way Jay spoke to me and forced me to purchase the perfume.

This was the first time I have ever had a poor experience at Shoppers, and usually always have pleasant experiences and find all your customer service reps to be helpful.

For reference, my certificate # is : [protected]-3698252.

Thank you,

Lindsay Nidoski

Shoppers Drug Mart employee

I'm never one to submit a complaint on a store considering I work in customer service but as I was shopping two employees were talking about their lives, totally okay until one of the employees in a black cardigan and with braids talked about her hospital experience and how people on drugs were in front of her and being taken care of first, which she couldn't understand because as she continues to explain she is more important than a drug addict.. This really bothered me because I am a two year recovering drug addict and I believe every life is important. I raise awareness about it, and things like that. I just was hurt by the comment. People addicted to drugs deserve help just as much as she does. I didn't say anything but Defintley left the store shaken up.This happened at the Second line shoppers located next to no frills. Thank you so much for even reading this.

Shoppers Drug Mart cashier services

I was at shoppers last night. I had found a curl wand on sale regular price $60, on clearance for $20 because the box was damaged (I'm assuming) anyway... I have to buy everything I once owned due to a house fire, so finding an amazing deal, is what I need. Anyway... I got to the cashier and asked, "can this be returned if it doesn't work?" She looked at the price then in a rude tone said "no" I asked "do you have a plug I'm able to try it in" she looked to her feet, back and fourth, then looked at me and said "no, I do t see one" at this point I'm feeling annoyed because she's just being rude. I pay for my items, out comes the receipt, she circles the item and writes "final" On my receipt it clearly states "retain receipt for return within 30 days" now I'm even more upset. I live next door, I'm there often and my plan was to plug it in at home and go right back if it didn't heat up (it does work, no issues with the product) but this cashier is power tripping and I have no idea why. Now I walk away because I know I can fight this and I'm not going to stress over someone who's clearly beinging their bad day to customers at work. I'm walking out the door and the alarms go off. So now she hasn't done her job properly. I go back have her swipe the two items she failed to do in the first place and she rolls her eyes at me. No thank you from her, no Smile no anything at all. If she's not willing to be a pleasent person, do her job properly and give correct information on store policy then why is she working there? I don't feel this is how customers should be treated. I also don't feel a person who can't apply themselves to their job, should be working in that environment. This isn't the first time this same woman as given me attitude, she always acts annoyed with customers, never asks for my PC Card. I feel something should be done. At this point you should just put self checkout in there so no one has to deal with a grouchy woman who has no respect for customers.
