I purchased a VCR/DVD (mdel DRC8355) combo less than a year ago and I have returned the model 3 times due to the other models did not function properly. Each replacement that I received was as messed up as the initial. They have tech. support center in Manila, Philippines and they do not even know anything about the products. I called them umpteen times seeking assistance with setting up the model and other issues; I always receive the same response, "Could you hold sir while I check on this issue?" What does it profit a consumer to call quasi-tech. support individuals that have to search the internet to troubleshoot product issues. It is a literal shame for an American company as established a Thompson/RCA to hae such shoody business practices. They hire Philippino citizens paying them a fraction of their American counterparts and they are not even properly trained to troubleshoot tech. issues. Their products are substandard. They sent me one return with a universal remote; which means they intentionally went into the box of the replacement unit and took out the remote that comes with my unit and sent me a universal. This is shoddy and unacceptable for any company. I have always loved RCA products; however, as of now, I would not recommend to my worst enemy to purchase anything from this disgusting company. It is obvious that Thompson is all about money and they care nothing about customer satisfaction. I returned a unit recently and it allegedly arrived there on NOV. 3; upon calling, I was told that the unit is not in stock. As a result, I was given a # to consumer relations and the agent informed me that the product is in stock and that i need to wait 9 more days. It arrive their on the 3rd of Nov. and they have not sent a replacement as of yet. He told me that the product is in stock which means the other one told me a blatant lie. In fact, I don not even believe that he even looked up my account. This is another example of this company's shoddy business practices. It makes on wonder, does this company and its employees have any integrity. I purchased the unit to record fro VHS to DVDs and vice versa; however, this disgusting unit barely wants to play DVDs. Result, I am disgusted, mad as hell, and highly displeased. I am 39 yrs. amd I have experienced much in my days but I have never had a negative experience with any other company like this one.
