Radio Shack dishonesty

I brought a Garmin Nuvi 265WT(GPS) in for Service because the FM traffic receiver doesn't work. I had been in contact with Garmin, Tech support couldn't resolve the problem so I took it into Radio Shack under my service plan & checked the unit in for repair. The unit is less than a year old and under the manufacturer's warranty. The unit was supposed to be sent to Garmin. During the warranty period, Garmin is the only one that can serive their products. I purchased my GPS on 02/13/10 with serial #1R2278435 with an internal ID#[protected]. They were surprised that Radio Shack did not send the unit to them. Instead of fixing my unit, they gave me a different unit with a different serial # and internal ID #. REPLACING A PART DOES NOT CHANGE THESE NUMBERS. My unit I checked in had very slight scratches on the screen, the unit that they returned to me had no scratches and was noted by them as well. The FM Receptor/Car charger was not checked in for service when it should of been because that is the only way to make sure FM traffic was working. I checked in the unit for service the first time on Nov 6th, it was noted on the service receipt that I had some small faint scratches. It was serviced by tech Andrew F. when it should of been sent to Garmin. The repair shop Replaced main PCB which does not alter the serial no. or internal ID#. I went to pick it up on Nov 20th. THE FM TRAFFIC DID NOT WORK. I noticed the serial # sticker had been moved and did not match the unit. I noticed that the there were no scratches on the front screen unlike my unit. I told Radio Shack repeatedly, I want my original unit with the correct serial # and matching internal ID # returned. Instead they checked it into be sent back to the Service ctr the same day Nov 20th. I received a msg on Dec 2 from the Repair shop that they couldn't even work on my unit and sent it back. The repair ctr insists this was the same unit all along, they refuse to fix the problem. The unit they gave to me back yesterday has serial #1R2297406 with an internal ID#[protected]. I registered this new unit on the website and the is what pops up on Garmin's website: Product details for your device are:

Product name: nüvi® 265WT

Registration date: Dec 10, 2010

Serial number: 1R2297406

Unit Id: [protected]

Registration Code: T9AJKL0

Then the repair shop had the stupidity of saying that replacing a part on the GPS unit changes the seral number and internal ID. This is false. These two numbers are under copy-writed and legally can't be changed. An unauthorized service center has to have written permission from Garmin to service a product that is under the manufacturer's warranty.

Really...you're going to complain about a company trying to resolve your problem without you having to wait for it to return. That's just sad that you have this much time to make a statement on the internet that's saying Radioshack is dishonest. I work for the company myself and it's up to the managers discretion if they want to exchange the product for a new one to try and resolve the problem. If that's what they did, then they tried fixing your problem quickly. Radioshack's tech center IS authorized to do anything and everything they have to to fix something that is under manufacture's or extended warranty. So, how about lets stop complaining about stupid stuff.

Radio Shack black friday ad rip off

Radio Shack had an Ad for a Acer Netbook for Black Friday. We got to the store at 2:45am and were the 4th in line. The add said there was a minimum of 1 per store. The Ad should have said there is only 1 per store. We waited in line for 3 hours to find out there was only 1 total in the store and the guy who was camped out overnight was the one who received it. If the ad would have said only 1 per store, I would not have even bothered going.

Oh and HWY9867, which store in Columbus is it? I work at one in Ohio too and I know MOST of the managers in the Columbus area since they are in my district. Trust me, they'd like to hear complaints like this. Lol.

Ok. Wow. There's a lot of responding I can do to this. I work for Radioshack and I worked there for Black Friday. EVERY store is entitled to AT LEAST ONE per store. My store had only ONE of the Acer netbooks on black friday. It ISN'T the store manager that orders each of the products in. It's the warehouse that sends them to us and they send how many ever they want. And my store DID have ALL netbooks, laptops, GPS units, cameras, phones, etc behind the counter so we didn't have to run to the back to get them. We are not allowed to keep high priced items like that on the sales floor, that is company policy. If a specific store does, then that is there problem. Opening for black friday WAS at 530 NOT at 600. Check all the other stores and you'll see that. Ok, I am done venting about people's stupidity. :)

I was in a black friday event back in 2007, just to pick up a portable DVD player. When we got to the cashier, the lady gave me the regular price instead of the sale price and said I have to get the money back through a rebate. That was the last time I went there during black friday. I have not shopped at Radio Shack that much cause of their prices and crappy customer service. Technically they are selling products to who ever they want to, and tell others to go online.

Hiding the baited merchandise, thats the activity. Why wasnt the netbook on the shelf to sell like all others? The ad said minimum 1, yes they followed their ad to the letter, but thats still not right, but people like you accept it and so they get away with it.

My radio shack in New Albany, Indiana hid their acer netbook hot deal under the counter. I was second in line and the first one asking. The employees looked dumbfounded when asked where it was then someone else got it when we were told it was at the counter. Radio Shack should be held accountable for such tactics. Where can consumers report this type of activity.

walmart had no right to take that away from her daughter they bullied her daughter which is the worst type of customer service! First come first served period people if it was you who got a tv then it got stripped from you you would be pissed to! As far as weather or not kids should or shouldnt have tv in their room thtis a parents choice! You have no right to tell someone they dont need anyting in particular she waited her time she received her tv for an employee to take it away from the girl was totally in appropriate! The fact that they intimidated a child she should follow it all the way up the ladder she should call daily to the head quarters and demand answers there is no exscuse! The bracelets were abad idea in the first place i went to walmart today and i left without purchasing anything because all those so called specials they had sucked! i worked for walmart years ago and trust me when i say this isnt the first time a crappy scamming idea has happened! I found all the stuff i wanted at the mall today and i spent less than i anticipated! I am so glad i didnt waste my time going out bright and early i did not even leave my house until 9 am!

Radio Shack engaged in similar illegal conduct in Mass. They advertised the Acer Netbook for $179 but they did not have any. I was at the store when it opened and no one had a netbook. They said they only had ONE and sold it to someone else. It is clear that Radio Shack is engaged in unfair and deceptive business practice violating the law. The law prohibits a store from advertising a product which they do not have enough to meet the expected demand and requires they give rain checks or comparable substitutions if they do not have enough of the merchandise to meet the expected demand. Radio Shack refused to give either. Bait and Switch is illegal. Radio Shack ran this add not to sell it to customers but to get customers in the store to sell them something else. They had substantially less of this advertised items then they have of their other items. Also they deceitfully tricked customers to go to them 1st by posting a false opening time saying they open at 5:30 but not opening till 6:00

Radio Shack failure to replace insured headphones

I purchased a product protection plan for two items I bought from Radio Shack. WHen both failed (headphones), I called to get them replaced per the plan. I was told that I had to take the items into my local Radio Shack for them to be inspected. I took my item into the Radio Shack store in the Greenway Shopping Center (7000 block of Greenbelt Road)in Greenbelt, Maryland. The clerk, Chris, inspected the item and called the Service plan office at [protected]. He was to mail the items to the Service plan and I was to recieve a voucher by email within 4 - 24 hours following the mailing, which I would be able to use in the store to re-purchase new headphones. This all happened on Friday, November 12. I did not get the emailed voucher and called the service plan again on Thursday, November 18. When the plan called the Greenbelt store, they were told by the manager that she had no recollection of the transaction. I called the service plan again on Friday, NOvember 19 and was told that I had to contact the store for the items and I was responsible for ensuring that the items got to the replacement plan, even though the store now had the items and there was a record of the call between the clerk and the store. I was told by the agent that I would not get my money back unless the service plan got the tracking number of the FedEx package the store used to send the items back. Are you kidding me? The agent on the phone went so far as to tell me he had to get off the line with me and answer other people's calls when I suggested a conference call with he, myself, and the store that I would make immediately. Needless to say, when I tried to conference us, he mysteriously dropped off the call on Friday. So, I called the store on Saturday and spoke with Chris, the clerk who handled the transaction when I went in on Friday, NOvember 11. He said FedEx had picked up the items on Monday, NOvember 15. He had not called and given the service center the tracking number. I want my money back.

Yeah, just have to love the ol’ Shack.
They sold my unsuspecting Grandfather the protection plan for a 10-dollar tape recorder. 10 +30 = 40$. And the phone adapter 30 + 30=60$. They turned a forty dollar sale into a one hundred dollar sale for equipment most people would have considered obsolete years ago.

But did they send him off with at least one tape so he could use his new hundred-dollar TAPE (not even digital) recorder? No. Its only2-4 bucks for a couple of tapes so why waste your time walking over to grab them for the old man when you've already suckered him into buying 3 dollars worth of plastic for 100$$. They took advantage of him good. "Good job Ricky, looks like you are going to make your protection plan goal this month and that last sale gets you high fives and pats on the back from all around".

I was going to write a letter to the main office but the story above gives me little hope that they would even care that their clerk ripped off an 88 year old man who just didn’t know any better. No wonder their window is always broken and boarded up. It’s not thieves, its disgruntled customers taking out frustration.

Radio Shack unprofessional & misinformed manager

Nov 3, 2010, visited Radio Shack to inquire about DVD palyer. Spoke w/ the so called manager. Was told the item is for on-line order only. Fine, does it deliver to store (free shipping)? "NO, it does not"

Checked on-line and the item in fact ships free to store. Called the store, asked for manager, he comes on the phone and here are the incidents proving how imbecile this guy is:

1- When answering the phone; "Yeah, what do you you want".

A 10-year old kid has more manners that this guy. HELLOOOOO, Radi Shack, may be a little training is in order?

2- The Lie; "I never told you it does not ship to store."

3- Attempt to cover up the lie; "I said that it should be mailed to you as we may mishandle or misplace the merchandise at store."

That is the most idiotic statement, EVER. So, Radio Shack people are SO incompetent that they may lose or damage shipped product that the customer has already been charged for? Wake up call; credit card companies are really good at taking care of nonsense like that.

This guy is totally worthless. With so many complaints written and filed against Radio Shack, it is disturbing corporate does not take action to correct conditions hence, the rest of these incompetent personnel keep on acting the way they do.

NO MORE Radio Shack, neither the local store nor on-line.

Purchased 2 year extened warranty/ product protection plan on nextar gps unit, with mp3 and data storage capabilities. It failed returned it for replacement... 1 month later they call me to come pickup a refurbished magellan gps that has no mp3, or data storage features and is without a power supply but they had one I could buy for 29.99 + tax! This is simply unexceptable! To leave store had to sign off that they, on there terms had met the entened warranty obligations. Buyer beware!

Radio Shack unethical practices

Yesterday 2010-09-22 I saw RadioShack advertisement about HTC-Aria free phone with at AT t service plan. I tried to putchase it online, but it didn't work so I contacted their wireless department. The representative told me that I have to upgrade my at AT t plan - I told him that I am not interested and wanted to hang off. Then the guy said "wait a minute - I'll make you a deal" The deal he described was free phone with extension of my existing plan plus $15 for web-access and $36 activation fees.

I agreed and he asked me for my SSN - then he collected my private information and asked for credit card information including the verification number.

After keeping me hours on the phone he finally gave me the order number.

Soon after I received an confirmation email. Later I received another email from customer care asking me to contact them. When I did they asked $119 for the phone. I told them that they can't change the order, but they didn't care.

They switched me to the HQ which confirmed that RadioShack is asking me for more money.

It is unethical to ask for more money after the fact. I can't believe that RadioShack has such low standards.

This radio shack creates fake identities, fake cc information, and uses already existing addresses for sprint phones. You walk into the store, and some guy immediately pulls you aside and tells you that you can have a phone. Then he asks you who your favorite movie star is and types either the name or similar into his computer. Then he takes your credit...

Radio Shack wrongful termination

On July 24 I received a phone call from Monica Goss, former district manager in Atlanta, GA, and was told I was being terminated immediately. When asked why I was refused a reason. I was told I would I would receive a letter from her administrator stating the reason. When I called her administrator yesterday she didn't even know I had been terminated.

Today is payday and when I called the toll free number to see how much money had been deposited in my account, the balance was zero. I have done nothing wrong, am one of the top three salesmen out of the three stores in Athens, Ga.

When I became eligible for healthcare benefits in April it took Radio Shack two months to straighten out an HR problem for my benefits to go into effect.

I have an MBA and had a six figure income from 1983 until 2007. I took this job to take care of my ailing mother in Athens. I am going to see an attorney today. This company and it's middle management sucks!

Were you salaried? If not, most likely your state is an "Employment at Will" state, so they can terminate you for anything they want, short of breaking the law, like discrimination, etc.

Radio Shack bad experience with the customer service

After I renewed my T-mobile contract and needed a new phone, I got an LG neon at radioshack. I loved it, thought it was awesome. After a few weeks it started shutting off randomly. I was very busy with school and work and didn't go to exchange the phone until after the return period was over.. at this point it was just getting worse and worse and the phone was barely usable anymore since it was shutting off so much.

So I go to the store with my mom and try to exchange it.. we talked to the manager, who said we didn't have all the parts, and that we could bring them back later in the day. My mom got tired and went in the car, and the manager told me to ask for an employee when I came back that I will call Joe here because he would explain to Joe that he was letting us exchangethe phone.

So I came back later in the day by myself because my mom didn't want to come. I went to the counter and saw the guy's nametag was Joe, it was him there and another girl. I told him the situation with my phone and he told me that it was too late to exchange. I argued that the phone kept shutting off and the other girl got involved, backing him up that I couldn't exchange it. I told them how I had looked online and found tons of other people with that phone who had the same problem, well they apparently didn't believe me because they kept stressing that the problem never happened and he was starting to make it sound like I was a weirdo for having that problem withthe phone. The girl looked at the phone and accused me of water damaging it. Joe said it might have been overheated (I believe this is what was happening, but it was not my fault, there must have been something up withthe phone to make it keep overheating.) Like I said lots of people had written online about this problem, all I had to go was type in google "lg neon randomly turns off".

So, after fifteen minutes of arguing I go home frustrated. I told my mom what had happened, and she called the store and told the manager, who LIED to her to make it sound like it was MY fault (I was 18 and looked young for my age, he probably thought it would be easy to blame it on the kid). He lied by telling her that it was my fault for not asking for the manager like he had told me to, when really he had told me to ask for Joe because Joe would know what was going on. Well I went back for a third time, and the manager came out and told me he had forgotten to fill Joe in on what was going on! Yeah that's not what you told my mom, hunny! He didn't even apologize for anything.

So finally he tells Joe to let me change the phone. Joe does the process with me and randomly tells me again that it was a very rare problem and it didn't usually happen.. why are you telling me this when I told you I had found forums and forums about the problem?

The process takes awhile and then he has to do one final step. Another customer comes in and he takes her, goes out of his way to call up a separate company for her problem that had nothing to do with her purchase at radioshack, I have no issue with that except that it took up sooo long and I was waiting there forever for him to do something that would take five seconds so I could finally leave. After FOREVER, the lady, who had come in after me, left, and he finished me in about twenty seconds. Honestly, couldn't you just finish me up quickly, then make the call? Or tell the person onthe phone to hold on a second, he has a customer?

Now that I am a couple years older, I wish I had shown more attitude that day.

Um, I work for Radio shack and the return policy for phones are VERY strict. We are not to return or exchange phones after the 30 days is up. That isn't a Radio shack policy it's all of the carrier's policies, sprint, at&t, and tmobile. If we do a swap like that after 30 days then the store is charged back for the full price of the phone...which ranges from $200 -650. After the 30 days, you should have been told by the manager in the first place, to contact your carrier and they would do an exchange by mail program for you. That way you'd get a new phone. If it happened again they would exchange it for a different phone completely. That is how the cell phone policies are for everyone. So don't blame Radio shack for something that we have no control over.

Radio Shack fraud

On [protected] I went into radio shack to buy a new sim card for my phone. The man working told me I could put the phone in any name. I said to him, does that not enable terroist to do the same. He said at&t does not care. He stated he has put them in the name of mr. Scott free and mr. Tony montana (From scarface). I said no thanks I want it in my name. He pulled out a new sim and asked do you want to insert it or me. I replied you can. When he handed me my phone, I turned it on. It was not working properly. I asked what the problem was and he said I don't know, but you owe me $27.44 for the sim. I said to him, I have not signed anything and my phone is not working so I am not paying. He would not let me leave untill I payed. My 4 kids were with me and became upset. So I finally said here. I gave him the money. He then said I can fix your phone for $50. I just walked out. I have contacted at&t, the fbi, the bbb, as well as the local news station in nashville. Now I have a useless sim and my phone is not working.

Hmmmm...it seems like you have contacted everyone BUT the actual company. What the employee was doing is very much illegal. And would be instant termination. I have almost gotten someone fired because of that. One of my employees did everything over the phone for someone though.

Radio Shack horrible customer service

Was called a liar by a member of the sales staff at this particular radio shack. Went in the previous week to purchase no contract cell phone and plan. Picked out both and paid for both. Sales rep told me everything was good. A week later cell phone company told me my minutes were low. I told them not possible I was supposed to have free nights and weekends. They told me originally I did sign up for that plan but the sales rep didn't charge me for that plan. Sales rep at radio shack told me I was lying and that he would never had charged me wrong. Now I have to spend more money because of his stupid mistake and his refusal to admit he was wrong when the other salesman can confirm I was right.

Radio Shack wrongful firing!

Radio Shack is an unethical company to work for. They recently fired my husband for an absurd cause. They said that he was "caught stealing, " yet there is no proof of this at all! Because a man paid with a fake ID and my husband shook his hand after the transaction, they are saying that he helped the guy steal products for his own personal benefit! Since when does a handshake prove that you are in cahoots with a scam? Typically, he shakes about 50% of the customers' hands because he is great at customer service and is very courteous.

In addition, they proceeded to interrogate him, scare him out of his mind and pressure him into "confessing" even though he didn't do a damn thing. So, they "released" him as one of the corporate higher-ups of the company just so calmly said because they "believe" that he helped this guy steal. If he did "steal" why wouldn't they go to the police? That is what you do when someone steals, correct?

So, after that day, he comes home crying because he lost his job and was nothing but a good worker for Radio Shack. He was an assistant manager and was next in line to be promoted to a manager position. Two days later, we find out from one of the other store managers that they are dropping managers like flies and aren't giving any good reason for doing so. And, on top of that, the manager told him in confidence that Radio Shack is soon to let go of every single full-time employee they have or demote them to part-time in order to cut costs.

Hmm... fishy? Don't you' think? We certainly do. The manager said himself that he believes they fired my husband in the way that they did because they saw that pinning this on him was a good way for them to avoid paying him for unemployment. He filed, and of course, was denied.

He worked with them for the greater part of his professional life and was bending backwards just to get a manger position. Radio Shack doesn't even pay their employees enough money to live comfortably. And, don't be fooled by the "commission" that they say you'll make bundles off of, because you won't. Unless you are in a high traffic area, of course. But he worked in a small town. Therefore, the pay was pathetic.

We aren't sure if we will fight this because we just don't know how to go about doing so. If anyone has ever dealt with a similar situation, please shed light on the situation.

And trust me, I would have known if my husband stole something because I am in charge of handling our finances and balancing our checkbooks.

If you're looking to work with Radio Shack, I recommend you only do so if you're only interested in a temporary position. They are an unethical company and will do whatever they can to save a few bucks. Thankfully, my husband is in the running for a few good paying jobs. Jobs that pay over $10, 000 more in salary than he was making at the crap shack. However, it doesn't take away the hurt of the way he was wronged by radio shack.

They promise a stable career for their employees and only deliver a pile of steaming [censored]. He isn't the only employee that they've treated wrongfully. We've both witnessed many of the part-time employees only being given 3-hrs per week on their schedule and then being fired for lack of performance. How in the world can you meet your sales goals with Radio Shack if you are only working 3-hrs per week and most of that time you have to spend building displays?

They promise health plans after a few months, yet my husband was given the run around for over a year.

And to top it all off, they are unethical in the way they treat their customers. There were a few employees in the store where my husband worked which were allowed to deliberately lie to customers about the specs of a product or what you can use it for only to make a sale. And, when my husband reported these unethical practices, they were dismissed without the other employees even being reprimanded.

We are bitter that they fired him wrongfully, we will admit that. But, who wouldn't be? However, we would never lie about anything this important, so rest assured that all of the information you are reading is indeed factual.

This is not to say that all districts of Radio Shacks treat their employees in this manner; there may be a few gems out there (maybe privately owned franchises). But, for the most part, you will work your ### off for minimum wage, they'll promise you advancement and then drop you like a fly if they feel like doing so. They did it to my husband, and they can do it to you too!

On 10 Apr 2001 I was at the Radio Shack on Cache rd in Lawton, Ok. I asked for some assistance in buying a replacement cable for my laptop. I found what I was pretty sure what I needed. I took the box to the counter and asked if someone could open a small cellophane bag with tape on it ... to check if the conversion tip was the right size. A older 65 ish man took the bag from my hand put it back in the box and tried to sell me and more expensive conversion kit --- without even giving me a chance to see if it the tip was in the bag. Got to be the most rude associate I've ever met.

Basically i have an issue with a manager at the store in niagara falls ny military road 14304...his name is daniel...everytime i go in there he has an attitude with me and i dont know why...i give them buisness all the time and he just treats me like im some new guy off the street...so what i have tried to do was just ask for one of the other nicer employees who always treats me good...mike is his name...great guy...however at times this daniel guy comes out and tries to intercept his "sale"...its been months now of me going in there and this past tuesday was the last straw...i went in there specifally asking for the mike because i just didnt want to deal with his attitude...of course he says he left for the day which i was already told that he was working there until 8pm and it was only 4...so i had wanted to order a camera and had it specifically shipped to his store which i had already explained...he asks me if im using my credit card...i told him im trying not to use credit and that i have cash...so as soon as i said that he didnt reply ...just kept typing...so bout 8 min goes by he gives me the total and i put the total amount on the table...and then i told him again that i wanted to pay with cash...so he grabs the money off the table and with a MAJOR guilt tripping attitude, he replies..."well now i have to put in the order all over again with a gift card and then redue in the whole order!"
...i swear to god i felt like just saying if you dont like your job then QUIT, and i also felt like just saying forget it ill go to another radioshack store ok?...but i didnt i just dealt with his unprofessional attitude!...so finally after he puts the order in...there were other customers in the store, prints out the order and then without ANY eye contact just says here you go your order will be shipped to your address...and i specifally told him that i wanted it shipped to the store so he told me to just call a phone nhumber which wasnt even on the recept and now the order is going to somewhere where i can pick up but prefered not to go there...basically im just fed up with him and wish that i can file a complaint against him and because of him im probably not going to be giving radioshack any more of my buisness! thank you

I purchased a Blackberry Curve 8330 Inferno at a Radio Shack in Mobile On 11/30/09. I was told since there were none in the store that I would receive it the following day beacuse of a next day free promo 12/1 . On the night of the 30th I received an e-mail that said I needed to respond to correct an issue the store had entered wrong. I called and found that the store had entered my billing address the same as the store - so that was the reason for the follow up. Corrected now the phone was to issued. The following day I called the store to check on my phone and it was not there. When I arrived at my home I found another email asking me to call back due to another store created issue. This time it was an issue with the monthly plan that the clerk did not change...Now corrected my phone should ship out... When I called to verify the shipping the following day, I was told that it was being activated and would ship the following day again... So much for next day delivery! On the following day (Friday 12/4/09) I called to verify the shipping and the phone still had not been sent... I visited a local Sprint store and was told that I could get my phone then and there for the same price, so I went down to the Radio shack store I purchased from to cancel the order and guess what? It had been shipped ! I explained that it was too late to receive the phone from them due to the fact that I had called Radio Shack VIP every day due to their poor customer service and I wanted a refund - they can send the one I ordered back... I was told I would have to wait for the phone to be delivered, send it back and wait for the Radio Shack VIP to receive it before I could get my refund. At this point the phone wont even deliver until Monday a full week after I ordered and was to have in hand... I have called Radio Shack Headquarters to express how unhappy I have been with the whole process and was transferred three times supposedly to get to the right person that could handle the complaint and finally back to VIP - the same people that have created this customer unfriendly issue... This is not a way to keep a customer. This is a very condensed version of the events as I have spent literally over 5 hours of my time trying to get the mistakes THEY made straightened out. I will NEVER step foot in another Radio Shack and its little wonder why their company is declining in every aspect of the business- even Wal-mart would have done something to help a customer that has been inconvienced and wronged...

I picked up my Blackberry at a local sprint store with exceptional customer service as they met and exceeded the expectations and they even matched the deal from Radio Shack...

Since the new DTV is coming into to affect I have decided to purchase a new TV from RadioShack! I was planning on having a super bowl party in Sunday, so when I received my TV the Thursday before from FedEx, guess what! When they took the TV down there was a big hole in the box and a big scratch on my TV. (It was a 73" inch), well I called to try to get another TV sent out and no dice! They did not have any in stock and did not know when they would receive more. Then I had to wait for the money to get credited back to my account and that took about 5 business days! N-E-Ways, I missed the super bowl party, they didn't work with me, and FedEx should have taken care of my TV, you know I paid shipping charges.

I bought radar detector from radioshack on [protected] . About 3 months it started not working right it turns on but would not pick up the cops. I compared it with another one that was a friends and mine would not work. On 11-11-2013 I took it back to Radioshack and talked to assistant manger about making it right replace or money back. He refused to replace it or provide money back, he said that radioshack would replace it. Its sad that big chain store cant fix this simple fix by replacing it to keep the customer happy . I will not buy from radioshack again.beware dont buy from them again.

Radio Shack damaged a piece of my musical equipment and will not compensate me for it.

I took a Yamaha DG-Stomp (orig. retail $499) to Radio Shack (Winton Rd.) after calling them because my original power supply died. They told me to bring the unit so they could make sure the replacement was correct. Upon arrival a large man went to a wall rack, grabbed a box, unpackaged a power supply, plugged it into my unit; all the while blocking my view of what he had pulled.
My DG Stomp clearly has AC IN 12V 700ma marked on the back. The clerk then switched my unit on, it lit, then we turned it off. I paid and left.

Upon getting home I tested the unit and nothing happened. I discovered I was sold a DC12V, 1000mA power supply that when first plugged in, blew diodes in my DG Stomp. It was the (DC) power supply, not the voltage and amperage numbers that was the issue.

Upon spending hours calling several repair centers most every expert I spoke to said that the DC power supply fried my machine. I called the Radio Shack regional manager and she wanted to ship my unit to their repair center in FL. In the mean time I found the needed and correct power supply and it was able to light the machine up, but without any audio output. We sent the unit and all three power supplies to FL. The repair center in Florida used the new / correct power supply and assumed the unit worked (because it lit up), then returned it without (apparently) testing the output. They suggested to the regional mgr. that the unit worked and not to compensate me for any damage. I thought that shipping to Radio Shack repair could be a bit biased and dangerous after another RS store manager declined to have his stereo amplifier worked on by them (ask me for the details of THAT story).

So based on the inspection in FL, Radio Shack has declined to pay for the damage. Upon its return, I have taken the unit to an authorized Yamaha repair center and they have stated in writing, that the damage was indeed caused by the incorrect power supply provided by RS. Their regional mgr. will only listen to what their guy in FL is saying. They wont even look at my documentation. Nice way to protect themselves...

A used unit on e-bay is running around $150. The repair is expected to be around $75-125 depending on parts costs. Parts are however on back order and may not be available.

I have now spent the hour equivalent of DAYS on this matter. It appears that large corporations have convenient options to cover their mistakes.

I was told upon purchasing the service plan for my new phone system that the replacement simply required a phone call and the necessary replacement would be hassle-free and immediate. When one of my phones stopped charging the battery, I called and was told that one handset could not be replaced, I would have to return the entire phone system to Radio Shack via UPS and then wait 48-72 hours for a GIFT CARD to be sent so that I could re-purchase the item at a retail store. My profession is real estate and I cannot be without my home phone for several days. This is seriously misleading advertizing and, frankly, I feel my $10.99 was stolen by Radio Shack. NEVER again will I purchase anything from Radio Shack.

So i go to radio shack, to look for a phonograph jack for a stereo receiver. I browse and ask the guy if the record player with usb is on sale for 40.00, he says what "thats not 40.00" i said "the sign says 40.00" he tells me that is for the old vcr on the bottom and the sign was moved. I asked him how much the record player was, he scanned it and told me it was 100.00. I said thanks, i think ill pass on it. He threw it with one hand into the back room and went away. I asked his assistant if he had volume unit meters. He did not know what they were so he asked the jerk baldy ### manager, he said maybe like 50 years ago we had them. What an example he is setting for his young colleague, steer clear of radio shack or "the shack" as they want it known as now. I call it the sack which is what bad managements needs.

Radio Shack cash refunds require personal info

Radio Shack requires you to disclose personal information for a refund even if you originally paid in cash. On April 4, 2010, I made a purchase with cash. No one asked me for any personal information when I made the purchase, which is primarily why I choose to pay with cash for all my purchase. I returned the item on April 10, 2010, with original packaging and receipt. I asked for a cash refund which they agreed to. However, in order to "process" the refund, they required me to give them my first and last name, address and phone number. When I asked if they require this information even if the original payment was in cash, they replied Yes. So far, Radio Shack is the only merchant I have encountered with such an asinine policy. And as long as they continue with such a policy, I will never again be a customer of Radio Shack.

It's so they can track how many returns you are making. Regardless of how you paid, they still need to know if you return only once in a blue moon or twice a week.

Radio Shack rude manager & info gathering

At the check out, a young female employee who seemed agitated from the start, asked me for a lot of personal information that had not be requested during previous shopping transactions and I told her I wasn't comfortable giving out this info, that I had recently received lots of junk mail. She was got more upset and so I cancelled the credit card transaction and pulled out cash. She again asked me for my address, phone number and driver's license and I told her that this info was not necessary for a cash transaction. She began to ring up the sale and the male manager walked up and asked if there was a problem and I said that there was not a problem. He said that he couldn't have me abusing his employees and told me I'd have to leave the store. I looked at this kid half my age with below intelligence and had to smile - thinking he must be kidding. As I was getting my receipt he said I had to leave the store - an obvious attempt at impressing the female employee with his "might". I politely explained that I was a longtime faithful customer and I would be complaining about his lack of courtesy and knowledge of customer service. He refused to give me his card so I made a note of his name on the tag he wore. As I left the store, he threatened me by yelling out that he had my personal information in the computer. He shouted that I was banned forever from the store. Beware of Radio Shack in Stevens Point Wisconsin. Under previous management it was a fine establishment - albeit a store filled with items you can most of the time find cheaper elsewhere.

I needed a charger for a cell phone, so I went to a Radio Shack store. Due to a bad experience almost 20 years ago I promised myself never to walk into a Radio Shack store, but I needed the charger quickly so I made an exception. This is a rough summary of the transaction:

1. I find a good charger. It's a bit overpriced, but not completely unreasonable. I take the charger to the register.
2. The salesman asks me for my email address. This is admittedly a common practice, so I have created an email address for email I just ignore. I gave the salesman this address.
3. The salesman attempts to sell me an extended warranty for the charger. The charger had a price of $42.95, and he wanted to sell me a warranty that would have cost $6.99 per year. Yup they wanted to charge my credit card $6.99 per year for a $42.95 charger, and this would have apparently continued forever until I cancelled the extended warranty. When I declined, the salesman called over the manager who attempted to hard sell me the warranty. I declined again. I had to decline two more times before they gave up.
4. The manager talks about a great sale they are having on batteries, and then asks me how many batteries I want. Note that he didn't ask me if I actually wanted any batteries, he just asked how many I wanted. I said I didn't need any batteries right now. I had to refuse two more times before they gave up trying to sell me some batteries.
5. The manager then asks when brand of cellphone I owned. I forget how I responded, but it resulted in a sales pitch for a cellphone with 500 prepaid minutes. Again, I had to decline three times.
6. At this point I would have normally left the store (assuming I actually waited this long), but I really needed the charger. I think it showed, which is probably why I kept getting sales pitches. But they finally rang up the charger, and they told me to slide my credit card through the reader. Except that I didn't see the price for the charger, I saw an appeal for a charity. Now let's be fair, the requested donation was only for one dollar. But my patience was really running short at this point, and I didn't know what else would happen if I approved the one dollar donation. So I declined the donation request. The salesman (not the manager) muttered something - clearly he wasn't impressed by some cheapskate who would decline a one dollar donation.
7. By now I had the crazy idea that they were going to give me the charger and let me leave the store. Silly me. The salesman held the bag and gave me a pitch about a survey I could fill out online at home which will result in my getting a $10.00 coupon (the URL was printed on the receipt). And THEN, he finally gave me the bag and I left the store. I didn't fill out the survey, but I would guess one of the purposes was to gather personal information.

Bottom Line: Breaking my 20 year promise to myself to never walk into a Radio Shack store was a mistake. I certainly won't repeat the error.

I have been in the radio shack in bridge hampton on several occasions, leaving everytime frustrated and wanting to scream. they are rude, ignorant and look down at everyone. a friend of mine was in there recently buying batteries and got a smart comment from the male cashier that she was buying them for her vibrator, an unwanted and unnessecary comment. my most recent run in was wen i went in there with my fiancee and we had our 9 month old dog with us when a very rude man SHOUTED from half way up the store “he is not allowed in here get out” a simple dogs are not allowed would have done.

instead we walked out stunned and humiliated with all the customers staring at us. i am sick of their behavour and would like radio shack to do something about THEIR employees bad manners.

It is not the company. I have tried to use your "magic jack" many times. I have been able to talk to someone probably 5 times in the last year and can only talk for 10 min. and then it cuts out. I even went out and bought a new phone thinking that the was the problem. NOT. Your product is fradulant and you will probably pay the price for that. DON'T even send me a renewal, I will go go bilistic with you and your company! Maybe this will help you all to make your product more efficent or you will write your customers an apology for talking them into purchasing this product.

I am writing regarding my recent experience with radio shack. My 12 yr. Old needed a calculator for school and I took her to radio shack to purchase it. The sales person talked her into upgrading saying it would then be something she could use into college. She took this to school and was unable to use it. We tried to return it but as the original packaging could not be reused, were told that it was too bad. This is a $17.99 calculator that a grown up sold to child. She was very embarrassed and upset. I will check with ftc regarding "selling up" to children.

Don't trust them. I over heard a sells man, Tanner, out and out lie to a customer about Verizon on Saturday night, July 18, 2017, while shopping at the Murrells Inlet, SC Radio Shack. Be warned that if you get him you may be lied to as well. I and my family will never shop with that store or any other Radio Shack as long as Tanner works for Radio Shack.
We need to trust that what our sells person is telling us is the truth. I know that it was not me that was lied to however that isn't the point. I wounder if this is the way we want our friends and families treated.
No company should use lies to sell. If the sells person is just out to make a buck then it is every one of us who suffer. Step up and stand for truth in sells.

My son's ninetendo was mistakly sent to radio shack warranty department by mistake and they destoried the merchandise. I was told by two supervisors that they would replace it and then when the information was sent to them with the cost they declined. That dsi was 180 dollars and they did not replace the item instead they destoried it.

Bought a brand 'new' computer with windows xp as the operating system. I was worried about getting used to a windows 7 operating system but now I am fumbling with xp... The retail sales clerk told me over the phone that it would stream mlb. Tv which was the only reason I bought it... It does for about two innings... My loss... I am disabled and unable to box it up much less get there to return it... Ftom now on I will stick to a computer shop for computers instead of retail... The job of a retail sales clerk is to say yes it can even if its a shot from the hip

Be wary of radio shack sales

I called a Radio Shack Store to see if they had an advertised item. The girl said, yes we have one. I said I would be right over to get it. Hold it for me. When I got there, nobody knew what I was talking about, they said the sale would be over tomorrow, and if any comes in they would sell it to me, they couldn’t assure me that the would get more. So after calling ahead, paying for gas to drive to the store that told me they had one, but all they had was an empty box, I said I’d like to see the manager, the sales “associate” that was waiting on me walked into the back room, and I followed him.

There was a young lady sitting there, and she yelled, get out of here or I’ll call the police, your not allowed back here, I said call the police, she and the people in the store were very dumb, and knew nothing about customer service, I wanted to pay for the item at that time, and pick it up when they got it in, but they said that is not allowed. It seems that customer service is not allowed in the store, they are very “dumb”, if it’s not on the computor, it’s impossible. Seems more like a theology than a business.

1. Why advertise an item you do not have?
2. Why tell a customer you have the item, when you do not? and have him waste expensive gas to drive to the store.
3. If out of the item advertised, why not allow rain check, or prepayment for the item at the sale price. To not do at least this could be constude as false advertising, lying,
4. If you do not want customers in the back room, don’t have associates walk back there, while you follow, put a big sign KEEP OUT…..which I will do at least in this NEWPORT KY store.

They were very BUMB….and that’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it, go call the police if you want, I want to buy something, I call ahead, they say they have it at a sale price, I rush over to buy it, NO GOT! I guess I’m the DUMB one for listening to your employees, associates, what ever you call them. bernard madoff was a fraud and so are those associated with Radio Shack. Thanks for reading, but I feel certain nothing will happen as a result of my submitting a complaint. Politically correct is all that counts, and I’m sure that’s how you want to be seen as.

I was a part time employee of this Radio Shack for over 4 years. It was a second job to help tie up some loose ends. I always performed my duties with professional respect to the crew and customers. I made many of great friends who would always seek me for their electronic needs. I worked a 4pm-9pm shift, which was then cut to 3pm-9pm after within this last month of Feburary 2017, I noticed my name was not on the schedule for the work week. This raised a red flag right away with me. The manager was on his 2 days off and told me to call and he "Would fix the schedule" to re-add me back on. I said fine and thought the program that schedules hours might have goofed. I called him that Tuesday and was basically told I was let go due to "performance" reasons. How in the heck can I sell products and perform on a 3 hour shift, which was a slow time for our store. This is so wrong it makes me mad as heck here. But he hired another person who is now a full time employee. Radio Shack and it's big wigs have lost all my respect big time. They have become a corporate cell phone giant which is not the real Radio Shack I grew up with I can tell you that. They will never see another dollar from me period and I now will purchase from Best Buy in my town. Thanks for reading.

I have rare complain about the service or product, but this is what a rude service. I stop by friday today afternoon on radio shack, on 919 S W 5TH AVE store, and want to purchase something, so I go to ask a staff for some question and option of the product. The woman is rude and dont even want to help me. When I ask her to show me the product, she even say "gosh!" in her mouth. Finally, she was not willing to explain, and with a very rude atitude to customer. I was going to purchase something, end up with only mad and disapointed. Is this customer service try to help the company or bring down the company. I went to radio shack often, but this kind of service really makes me doubt of the quality of the company.

Radio Shack false advertising

I want to file a complaint about false advertising by Radio Shack. In their newspaper ad for Black Friday, Radio Shack advertised an Acer laptop computer for $399. I was the first person in line Friday morning trying to buy the advertised computer. Radio Shack did not have the product, Radio Shack would not issue a rain check. The clerk looked on their computer screen and told me only 4 stores in the entire Dallas/Ft. Worth district even had any of the advertised computers. The clerk laughed and said it was a typical practice of Corporate Radio Shack and that the store had no control. Radio Shack never had any intention of providing the product advertised. Office Depot had the exact same computer for $20. less and they did have them in stock. I could have went to Office Depot and got one, but instead my time and effort was wasted by FALSE ADVERTISING by Radio Shack.

You'll learn to contact the store the day before. They will tell you if they have them in stock or not. And we are not allowed to issue rain checks on Black Friday items. It is a one day deal anyways. That is the policy ANYWHERE you go.

Radio Shack discontinuing and banning too many products

1st they were selling portable radios and walkmans that were so great and well performing a year later, discontinued. They sell accessories for about 2 years later then do not sell them any more. They had a catalog, now they are just web based and their products are very hard to find. They are downsizing on too many electronic parts and accessories that is essential to the hobbyist, just so they can make room for modern yuppie electronic gadgets. I normally do not shop at Radio Shack that much cause this issue. And we need to put a halt on discontining items. It is so hard to find what you are looking for when they discontinue the item. It is not because it does not sell, its because of they are becoming a stupid yuppie electronics company, NOT a parts and hobbyist store like it was back in the day. Please let the corporation know they need to keep selling their product and bring back the important items such as antenna parts for your radio and television. If it does not sell in store, then just sell it online don't just freakin discontinue for future hobby projects.

Great information, but where is a place to shop when you cannot find what you need for your projects? I went to a Radio Shack trying to buy a radio from them and they did not have the radio I want to get, and the computer says that it is in stock. They need to keep things out for display so people know that radio shack sells it, but they are hiding their merchansdise and the salesman does not tell you they have it available.

1. Antennas do not make a profit, cell phones do. lol

2. The stores try to keep all of the inventory on the sales floor. but sometimes there really isnt enough room for every product to be out.

3. the inventory they have and the order it is arranged is dictated in the way corporate headquarters says so. If the product isnt on the list of displayed products, it HAS to be in the back unless that store has a special section where tey can place extra stuff not listed. but then it is upon manager's discretion what goes there. And usually its the stuff that is most likely to sell.

4. Stores arent that big and cant hold 15, 000 items anymore. not possible. But u can order stuff online usually with free shipping too.

I worked at The Shack for 24 years, but not any more.

But I can tell you that if a poduct could be sold profitably, it was never discontinued. (unless the manufacturer quit making it).

But, that is it. If They could not turn a profit on an item, then it is Out the door.

How in the world can anyone stay in business selling things they make no money on.

Back in 1968 they had 15, 000 products and 8 stores. They were going broke. Tandy Bought them up and cut the inventory to about 2500 items.

Then the inventory increased to about 4500 items. They were making a lot of money on lots of things but never quit selling something unless is quit selling first.

They never knew when to stop selling something.

Now they have like 100, 000 items on line, and almost no private label stuff.

Margins are shrinking and it is getting harder to make a profit. So, they have to keep things very trim.

If Best Buy did not exist, then they could raise the prices back up to a respectible level and afford to keep the convenience items that almost no one sells, but they need them when they need them.

Radio Shack customer service

On October 17th, 2009 I went to the Radio Shack in Dearborn, Michigan to try to get a new cell phone with a contract. As I waited to see if I was approved for the phone the police approached me and accused me of using a fake id or someone elses id, I assume. The problem simply was that the id had too many numbers, a mistake from the secretary of state. The problems I have with this issue are, if something was wrong with my id, the lady behind the counter could have simply explained to me that something was wrong with my id. Instead the police (3 officers) were notified and my girlfriend and I were questioned seperately for at least ten minutes about my identity. If it was simply a matter of my id, the sales woman and I should have been able to handle it right there, seeing that I had just recieved my id in the mail that day, I was cleary unware that there was a problem with it. I am encredibly offended by the way this situation was handle, seeing that I did nothing wrong it was ridiculous for the police to ever get involved. As an adult and as a customer dealing with an employee of Radio Shack as she had to do was alert me to the situation with my id and I would have completely understood and that would have been the end of it.
