fraud
I have been a customer of the local Publix stores (mainly this one) for numerous years and have written numerous checks and never had a problem until 01/09/2010 when I attempted to write a check in the amount of $51.00 at the customer service desk as I do very often so I dont hold up the lines at the register and was told I was declined due to Certegy which was VERY EMBARASSING. I called Certegy and got nothing but a run around. Why now is my check no longer good enough for your company? I have checked Certegy out and found numerous complaints, class action law suits for theft of information and fraud. As long as Publix is using Certegy and my checks are not good enough for you I will refuse to shop at Publix and will be notifying people by word of mouth and using my online resources to tell everyone not to shop there until you stop letting Certegy make your business decisions for you.

fraud alert
I worked for a Publix at 13th and 39th in Gainesville, FL. When I joined the Deli, I agreed to my hourly salary at 7.75/hr.
At Publix there are three job evaluations for the first year (one at three months, then next at 6 months, and then next at a year) and two evaluations a year after that.
I received my first evaluation on time. I received a wage increase promptly due to the increase in my quality of work, never being late, and 'being a team player'.
Between my first evaluation and my second evaluation, the deli manager changed. This manager and I did not get along (nor did he get along with most of the other deli workers). I continued to do my job, irregardless of my personal feelings for the new manager, and continued to get better at my job and come to work early/on time.
After the new manager was there for 2 months, I decided that I wanted to transfer stores as there was a store 20 mins closer to home that had an opening in both the deli and meat dept. I was told by both my manager, assistant manger, and store(!) manager that I could not transfer stores for another month. When I asked, I was told that I was the only person so far to request a transfer.
So another month roles around and I ask again. None of the managers recalled that I had requested a transfer and said that there were others who had requested a transfer before me, so I would need to wait.
To make matters worse I found out that a new hire was being paid 9.25/hr while I was being paid 8.25/hr. When it came time for my evaluation (which came 3 weeks after it was supposed to), I was told that I would be getting a raise of .25/hr, b/c I had been late 2 times (mind you I had never been late for work or from a break, ever) and I was "not being much of a team player" for the past 3 months.
I asked if I was preforming better than the new hire, I was told yes. Then I asked why I wasn't being paid appropriately, in turn I got a blank stare. I said the new hire is being paid 9.25/hr and is expected to do less work than me (on account of her learning the ropes), why am I being paid less? My assistant manager said that she didn't know how much the new hire was paid nor could she know until her evaluation (that's a lie, btw, the managers and assistant managers have access to that information and know it before the new hire's first day, the information is usually in their desk, in a folder).
I complained to my store assistant manager and store manager. I got no response from them. I decide to call out the next day (Sunday) and looked for new work. I found a new job (with better pay) and resigned on Monday. Later (after a few months) I found out from a friend, who was working at another Publix in Gainesville, that I had been lied to and could have filed all the paper work to transfer whenever I wanted to.
So current and future employees beware of Publix:
1. You should enter your evaluation with all your facts ready and if possible a copy of your time sheets. Also have them set a time and date for the eval, not just whenever they want to do it, you have the right to be ready for it. And the evaluation should occur withing two weeks of the proper evaluation date.
2. If you ever want to transfer and the management won't let you, go over their heads and call corporate. Call the regional manager and district manager if you need to. Also, talk to other store managers and ask about the process of transferring. Some stores really need experienced workers and will work with you to get you transferred to their store.

Agree, Publix don't care, there are bunch of stupid managers untouchables, you can not do anything . Dishonest and lies in your face . Publix has lost the values but still pretend one of the best companies . Store manager, manager, many of them are dishonest but they are always encourage all employees be honest . Shame
Unreal... Looks like publix really dont care... People come first they keep telling us...I wonder how many true stores we and others can tell about how we get screwed over at Publix dude...But you know what, the law lets them get away with it and the managers dont care at all, , lies behind a smile... Everyone i speak to that works at publix are very unhappy... ### getting deep my friend... peace brother..
I just say don't work for publix
upromise card
For the past several years I thought I was using the Upromise card appropriately. It fell apart, I got a new one recently & was told to go on the computer to activate it. I did, I have an email that says thanks for joining. I was told that the years before when I was using the old card I had no credit. I would appreciate it if you would contact me so that I can get credit for the years I've been submitting that card. I threw the old one away.

awful, awful, awful
Although I did not have to wait in line at there store I did however discover that publix uses bulbs in there meat case to enhance the color. I bought a package if rib-eye steaks that looked fine in the store but the moment i stepped outside, you would not believe the color! There is a grocery chain down here called Winn-Dixie and it may not have all the nice decor of a publix you can guarantee that there meat is the best. I always buy from there. I just hope they hang around!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Publix is full of Shiggity. They are absolutely too expensive and Winn Dixie is definately the BEEF PEOPLE and they have the better buy1 get 1 deals. Publix only have stuff thats not often used by the ordinary family.Yes they do discriminate, they moved out away from the BLACK/HISPANIC neighborhoods yet they want us to continue to shop with them, they also have a bad habit of FALSE ADVERTISING!
I purchased 4 beef tenderloin steaks for $39.12. I was very disappointed that the muscle was not removed. Don't the meat cutters know how to trim meat. I have a broken elbow in a cast and had to trim them ;myself before seasoning them and have them put on the grill. Could have received a better deal at Omaha steaks.
CAK
Winn-Dixie is an underdog store with a cult following. It has that special charm to it that you can't find at other grocery store chains. It really sucks that they had to discontinue all but their Winn-Dixie product line. I mean, Big Sixty cookies were the best. I also hate how egotistical Publix shoppers are. I will go into Publix and deliberately be a pompous [censor] just so I can fit in with the crowd there.
Just look at how pompous-assed Publix shoppers are, particularly the first two that commented under your post. OMG TEH PUBLIX IZ SO GREAT DAT NOT EVEN GOD CULD CREATE A BETTR GROCERY STOR! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOOLOLOLOLOLOL
Publix meats are awful, but working there is the worst. I can't believe how they mistreat there employees
First of all, the lights they use in their meat cases are just regular lights, nothing special. Second; Publix provides the highest quality meats that you can get! So they either have the same or better quality meats as winn dixie. Third, and lastly, i have personally never been in a winn dixie, but my girlfriend has and she said that when she was checking out, a huge ### rat ran across the floor and the cashier promptly chimed in with "That happens all the time". Talk about nasty. Go ahead and get your meat and groceries from there, i bet its just as quality as the big rat.
You must be a low life who loves to shop in ###. thats what Winn Dixie is! Publix is the best supermarket chain in the country, so dont even try it. We dont want you shopping at Publix anyway> maybe try a Rowes, Food Lion, or Save Rite, or some other ### store like the rest of them and like you. Stay out of the Publix stores please!
bad manager's administration
I've been working for Publix Supermarkets for 12 months, for the same store #260, unfortunately it is very true this situation and it's very sad, customers disrespect us and treat us like we don't have feelings and we don't count as human beings.
Yesterday a similar incident happened to me, one lady was asking for frozen apple juice, i work regular grocery, i don't work frozen food but that does not stop me on my efforts of trying to help customers in my commitment and my duties as as Publix associate, i went to the back to look for the product and never found it so i grabbed my cellphone and called one of the frozen food clerk to ask him about the product, he told me he didn't have any in the back, just in the shelf, so i returned to the shelf and looked for the product and did not find it, so what i did is told the customer that that was the only place where we have frozen juices and if it's not there then we unfortunately don't have it, so she looked at me and told me to not try to lie to her, never lie to a customer, so i kept looking and found it under a lot of different juices, so instead of thanking me she completely insulted me calling me stupid, after all the efforts and the time i spent looking for her product, and she told one of the supervisors that i am stupid and lazy.
Different situations we live in that store with customer and not only with them, as well as with managers, the store manager in that store promotes people to full time as he feels like, I've been working for that store for 12 consecutive months, with open availability to anytime, since i am an immigrant, and never got offered full time, and is something i really need, and now they hired a new associate, studying with certain availability, his sister works at the same store as a full time customer service staff and they have relatives working for the company and he has only worked for the company for a month and a half and got offered full time, the managers does this stating that he works faster than me and i talk to much, he works pretty much at the same pace i do, and i find completely unfair, dismissive and disrespectful i don't get offered promotion or an explanation about the situation. This store manager completely allows associate to go smoke outside every hour, and get food ON THE CLOCK and they state smoking is a condition that is not comparable, the store manager does not work directly with me, and he does not approve or support my promotion because according to him i talk to much to coworkers. It is completely unfair my situation and the fact that they approve associates to smoke and eat ON THE CLOCK stating and supporting their condition and not mine, i finish my work on time and help coworkers with theirs and get accomplishments from people on my department, my manager, people outside the department and even customers, i try everyday to deliver high standards in customer service and satisfaction and in this store my performance and my job is not being appreciated.

bad managers
I am an employee at Publix Supermarket and I use to love my job. I transferred to store number 260, and that was the biggest mistake of my life. Every since the first day I started working at this store my life has been a living hell. I've had alot of jobs, and I liked them all. Now that I have been working at this store it has opened my eyes to how nasty...

At 8:30 Monday morning (June 1) I was making my DAILY stop at this store, and usually I have no problems. Normally, everyone is friendly, the store is clean, I get my things and go on about my day, HAPPY. But not today...I didn't notice that 2 of the employees had left the building, 1 had gotten in her car, and 1 had went over to the gas pumps waiting on the other. As I'm backing up to leave, the employee in the car, comes SPEEDING through the parking and almost hits me! I slam on my brakes, she still never slows down as she pulls up to the other employee at the gas pump. I know the look on my face said it all, because the other employee puts both her hands to say WHAT? Now these were both ADULT women AND EMPLOYEES!
And your user name is Charismatic? Huh, should be Judgmental *****!
Don't apologize, I'm PROUD to be from Ga.! Can you say the same there, UTAH?
I was just making a comment on how 2 employees acted(which I guess you did have to be there)..but that's beside the point. You're making it personal..I don't like ALOT of the things I read, but I still don't act like an idiot! Or try to act better than the people who wrote them!

is there racism at publix?
I'll never go to the Deli dept in Hollywood Mall anymore. My turn is in between two Hispanix. The one before me is served and the lady who served him now has to turn to me to ask what i want but instead she lowers her eyes and moves far away and starts a long chat accompanied by giggles and laughter with another employee; like her a Hispanic. I wait and...

Publix Complaints
I’ll make an “experiences to date” bulleted listing of the experiences I have had in one or more of the Daytona Beach, Florida Publix supermarkets:
• Refused to do anything when my car sustained minor body damage by one of their stray carts, in their sloped parking lot. Not even a penny discount on bottled water.
• The Customer Service Desk line grows and grows while one person cashes checks, sells lottery, tobacco and batteries, and always services a fellow employee first.
• Publix seems to think that the “Deli Experience” is some long, drawn out, slower than molasses process which never occurs in any real deli. Always short staffed.
• They will insist their rotisserie chicken is done until you get it home and the thighs are raw and frothy.
• Their bakery ‘Chicago Italian’ bread is very good…if it’s not full of holes the size of a half dollar.
• Bakery again: Unless Publix exists in a universe where mathematics are not the same as in this universe, then ½ of a loaf of bread, which is normally 16 oz, is NOT 7 oz.
• Bakery again: The 70 cent cinnamon twists are now an inch and a half shorter than what they’ve been for years.
• Back to deli: Their Mardi Gras chicken wings are awesome! But you need to call ahead and plan your day around when they decide to make them. And ask them for the seasoning to make your own? Forget it. They have a cash cow sitting there and don’t even know it. Yet they’ll sell their own brand condiments, mushrooms, bread and rolls, “natural meats” and a plethora of other foods & sundry.
Overall they’re bakery is still the best in my area, you can trust their meats to be fresh most of the time [but we have two competing butcher shops in the area that have fresher, higher quality meats at equal to or slightly greater than prices] and they carry some canned items that other stores don’t. I’ll do a lot of my canned or non perishable purchases at Wal Mart [fresh, and I mean crisp fresh bulk mushrooms are $2.87/pound versus Publix ‘fresh’ packaged 8 oz mushrooms for $1.99]. Also, their locations are convenient to many major traffic routes for convenience to most people and their stores are very clean. They have accepted my returns for refund or replacement without question on the rare occasion that it was necessary.
Their prices are higher than most except Food Lion or 7-11 for the same products you can purchase for much less at Wal Mart super stores. Their quality does ring true in cleanliness, most bakery goods, deli meats, fish and meats, produce and dairy.
I still want that Mardi Gras wing season recipe or the option to buy it.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
the bake them for about 40 minutes at 350. roll them in oil & seasoning
Not True. If the shopping cart does not line up with the damaged area of the car, then they are not liable for the damage.
As far as the shopping cart damage goes, legally they are not required to pay for it. They do not own the parking lot, the property management company does, so the "slope" is not their fault. If a cart is left out in the parking lot by a lazy customer, this is not Publix's fault either. The customer didn't get the shopping cart from the parking lot, so why do they leave it out there? Also, the law will recognize the associated risk of parking a car in a parking lot where shopping carts may be present, and if the weather is bad, Publix will claim an act of God, such as wind, caused the damage.
Publix does an overall great job. We have a new one here in town and it's great. They did contact me and we worked things out. I still shop there and will continue to. The things I originally experienced in my initial post, as I said, were observations over time in many area stores. Some were common denominators among all of them.
I was raised to believe that if you're going to critique then give them praise as well rather than simply whine about their shortcomings. Publix pluses absolutely outweigh their minuses by a long shot.
Publix sells the Mardi Gras seasoning packages for $5.00. I purchased a package of the seasoning but have still not been able to make my wings taste like the Publix wings--I'm not sure what process Publix uses to cook the wings--baked, fried or grilled--or what quantity of the seasoning is used to prepare the wings.
You're complaining about everything, yet stating that they are the best around.
For you Mardi Gras wing recipe... tell them you need to see the ingredients list because you're highly allergic to some things. If you're any kind of a cook you can figure it out.
loud obnoxious music
Please consider a change in your music selections for food shoppers. Right now I run in and run out - FAST- picking up the two-fers only because the so-called "music" puts me in a Very BAD MOOD. I can't wait to get out!
Some palatable or lighter strains of listening moods are plentiful and available. Why not accommodate your shopping clientile instead of 20 or 30 year old people? Many of my friends also wish for this change. You want customers happy while shopping and certainly feel somewhat happy when they leave. I never feel that way when I leave any Publix.
I"ve made this comment to people at the service desks from time to time with their comment to me that we have no control over this. We just tune it out."
Sorry, but my friends and I can't do this and shouldn't have to choose that option.
If your excuse is to please the workers while they do their job, please consider the pleasing of the customers who are spending their hard-earned money for groceries.
Majority rules, I hope, in this case. Thank you for your time and consideration.
I might add that Publix is rated high in my book for their store presence and friendliness and organization of stock items.
But, I'm going to have to make a choice whether I continue to shop Publix in the future. Would you plese respond to this e-mail. Thank you.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Get over it. Seriously, there are people dying of hunger all over the world, and you're getting pissed at the music. If you're that upset, call corporate.
Complain about music in a grocery store.
I guess your life is so perfect that all you have to complain about is music at Publix?
And go to a board to complain about it?
Wow.. wish I had such a good life that music in a store was a big bother.
I'll not waste your time with my medical problems, my repossessed car story, the story about my job going to the Phillipines, my son's disease that takes all the extra $ we have... and more to treat.
I'll listen to you complain about music.
Old people are never happy. They think once they reach a certain age they can complain about everyone and be disrespectful from them. 5 year olds behave better. Do your shopping and tune out the music.
I can't believe some of the ###ed ### stuff people really have to complain about while shopping. I highly doubt most people, employees included, enjoy most of the music played there. If the music is the only thing you have to ### about, why don't you go on down to wal mart and shop with all the smelly, loud, obnoxious, low quality people that shop there and then tell me how much that really sucks. Get over it.
your stupid, if you dont like it then dont go there. Thats whats wrong with Americans today.
Your tastes in music may not be the same as other shoppers, and I doubt Publix is choosing the music for the employees pleasure.
Generally supermarkets play middle of the road pop, which is soft and slow, as its name implies, middle of the road. I've never been in a Publix where hip-hop, dance, rock or country was played over the speakers.
If the music is your biggest complaint, then you should be grateful.
However, while you may not perceive 20-30 years as the patrons of this particular store, be aware, that age demographic spends generously and buys high mark up items more readily than older groups. Also, by 30, they are buying to feed families often, not just for themselves or a couple, so why should this age group not be accomodated, they pay for your lowball purchases.
consumer indifference
Entenmann's stollen has been a holiday treat in my family for more than 40 years. When I asked the mgr. why there wasn't any for the past 2 years, I was told "I guess they didn't send any" and he walked away. I have no objection to the huge variety of ethnic foods available, and if there are those who want only natural foods, that is their right. However, there are certain items, especially holiday specialty items, that should be automatically ordered for other customers. A little more respect and helpfulness should be required of the managers as well. A flip answer and dismissal of an inquiry is certainly no way to promote business.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
There is also the issue of the fact that Entenmann's is brought in by an outside vendor and while Publix can submit an request, that company (perhaps not producing enough of it or just not producing it at all) and that vendor (placing the order up to 6 months in advance for holiday items!) could lay the blame elsewhere. Little Debbie, for example, is a vendor and discontinued a peanut butter oatmeal cookie, unbeknownst to us consumers. :( There is no excuse for his flippant response though. For instance, I know that Valentines day flowers had to be ordered before Thanksgiving... because its a holiday order. Pigs, hams, and turkeys can be shipped in by the PALLET but the initial order has to be made more than a month in advance. Its retail. Try to plan ahead next time.
With Publix, holiday and seasonal items are known as "chart items." Essentially, a manufacturer produces only a limited number of these items and Publix as a whole is allocated a certain amount of this product based on sales. From there, it is up to warehouse selectors to determine how to distribute these items, also based on a store's previous year's sales of the same item. So, when the manager said "I guess they didnt send us any, " he was probably right. It was almost certainly an unpopular item the previous year and the warehouse selectors decided not to chart that particular store any of that product. Unfortunately, your request to have the store order some is meaningless as the stores do not have the power to order seasonal or charted items.
I can understand your issue with the managers flippant response, he should have explained the situation to you, and offered to call around to other stores in the area to try and locate some of the item.
loud and obnoxious music
Where do these merchants get off by forcing loud and obnoxious music on the people who pay their salaries? I have on several different occasions had my buggy half full of groceries and just walked out, but not before telling the manager how intrusive their music is. It is so loud you can't think, you get a rapid heart beat, stress builds up then anger set...

It is not up to the consumer to pick through the food to find good food but the responsibility of the store itself. We shop normally at the one on A1A in Ormond by the Sea which seems to be a pretty nice store but an awful meat department and sea food department. We live directly across from it and have always loved shopping there. Now that things are a little hard for everyone, we have found the quality of there products to of gone down hill and actually sort of have gone from bad to worse. It may not really be called stealing for those of you whom are ignorant to buy stuff and just throw it away. I consider it a responsibility to the consumer to make things right. They told me last time it happens that I could just come by and they would make it up to me and even spoke with the representative in altamonte springs or somewhere around there but he turned out to be a spokesman for PUBLIX and his words became as worthless and the ammonia tasting crab legs. If they would only get the right people in there and make it right. That would be nice. Instead they know how to pass the buck and make a buck. Good luck to all as we now shop at SAMS and COSTCO. Much better...

Publix is not a safe enviroment for the elderly: my 84 yr old mom was insulted and accosted in the check out lane by a couple known to the employees as violent and abusive, they had also refused to be served at the meat counter because the employee was an african american... (. He probably won't have his job much longer for revealing this information to the police dept... Poor soul) but the manager (Jean andreau) did not seem to think this was a big deal! When my mom left the store, the couple ran her overin the parking lot! The charlotte county fl sherriff's dept refuse to do anything regarding the incident claiming "it's a civil matter": publix are refusing to take any responsibility as well... Claiming "we are not responsible for providing a safe environment, just groceries" you be the judge... Would you let your elderly loved ones be at risk in this conglomerate of irresponsibility?
I've lived in the area of this Publix store having shopped there for some 22 years and never, not ever, have I had anything that wasn't up to par so if you desire fresh seafood to your liking, may I suggest a seafood market where it comes in fresh each day and be there when it's delivered or dine out for your seafood meal. Publix has a reputation for always and I do mean ALWAYS of satisfying their loyal customers.
terrible experience
As a current employee of Publix and a past employee of Winn-Dixie, I have observed attitudes and actions at Publix that remind me of the years proceeding the collapse of Winn-Dixie and a few other chains that family "inherited" when the patron passed. Publix seems to have the attitude of, it's worked for 60 years, why change it... this is 2008.
Management is not always chosen for their capabilities but for their seniority, color (in the warehouses, blacks seem to get the breaks). If a black manager screws up, we send them for "retraining", if a white manager (or worker) screws up, they are fired.
A system of performance tracking that more closely resembles the old Domino Pizza gimmick of 30 minutes or it's free! Percentages are calculated by computer to set a goal for forklift operators that create a dangerous atmosphere in the warehouse, the forklift operator not only has to get 100% for a 5 out of 5 in performance, they must get 107%?
If you complain, you have pretty much signed your death certificate, your days with Publix are numbered. Long term employees in management sitting and watching their retirement grow while the company stagnates around them... this was one of Winn-Dixies biggest blunders.
If you are not part of the "clic" you might as well settle for being a warehouse flunky, no mater how smart, dedicated, or motivated you are.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I agree. Favortism is crazy in my store also. Everday i watch as my A.C. runs in the door 10, 20, even 30 minutes late but she has never been suspended, like other employees have. I watch as 2 people in the same dept same title same years in service one is mentored and given all opportunities and the other gets terrible schedule no mentoring. It is so sad watching. Whats really sad is the one who is getting all the attention and is getting all the praise is an awful employee with horrible customer service skills. He is arrogant, mean and i question his morals on so many levels. The one getting pushed out is very nice hes naturally kind and warm. He is going to be a wonderful manager for another company because poor leadership is pushing him out the door.
I worked in the actual store. I left Winn Dixie since they offered better pay, etc. They considered full-time a promotion, so I was hired on as part-time. They told me that if I worked hard, I would get full-time within a month. Well, considering my past management experience with Winn Dixie, I thought this would not be very difficult. I was wrong. Months passed by, and I was constantly put off whenever I inquired about the position. After they hired a black man off of the street (who actually had LESS experience than me) as full-time, I had enough. I had a sit down with my manager and let him know how I felt this was racist. I asked him if I was doing anything wrong, and if so it was his job to correct me so I would become a better employee. He continued on telling me how great of a worker I was, etc. I eventually got full time. There is a guy there (white guy) that has been with the company for a year. He has worked hard, been promised full-time, etc. Well, they consistently made him work full-time hours even though he was only part-time. A few months later, a black man off of the street gets hired in as full-time.
They claim they promote from within, which is not entirely true, since they considered full-time a promotion. Not to mention, the black man who was hired off of the street FULL-TIME was a horrible worker and constantly violated company policy including sexual harassment. He got a lot of weekends off, unrequested, while the rest of us had to work on weekends. It took them a year to fire the guy. (he was fired for stealing time, although he had been doing this for quite sometime)
I worked my ### off only to be fed candy coated lies. I suppose that is what I get for being white. I feel there is some racism going on.
I have many complaints, but not enough time to list them all.
I'm glad I am no longer with Publix.
As long as you are able bodied, management will be half way decent to you. God forbid if you get hurt on the job. You then become dirt under their feet and might as well quit because they will find a way to fire you or make you miserable enough to quit. As a former warehouse employee who was injured on the job I was treated like dirt and while being hospitalized they never once called, sent a card, nor came to see me. ( Miami Warehouse--1972-73 ) Management at that time consisted of the good old boys who worked employees like cattle. After Mr. Jenkins passed on the sons took over and ran the business like a concentration camp. If anyone needs to know my name or particulars to back up what I say just email me at my enclosed address. I have been disabled since my accident at Publix and am now 72 years old.

poor customer service
A manager by the name of Jesse Palmer said he could not help me pack my groceries into my cardue to the rain.I told him i was going to call corporate and he said feel free to, oh and by the way my name is Jesse palmer and im the manager of this joint.
This is total b.s. this customer obviously has a problem with Jesse, lol he would never say anything like that. Get a life buddy!
i work for publix and believe the customer on this. The rudest, laziest people in my store are the managers
I can say the same about Jesse Palmer he is a dedicated worker and believes in helping the customer as I am also a Manager for publix and we do take our job seriously, We do our best to assure the customers satisfaction.
Well I am a manager at Publix and I know Jesse and we take our job serious and work well over 50 hours a week. We are all trained to be dedicated to our customers at all times but also if it's raining you as a person should have courtesy to another human being and get wet yourself not the person that will have to stay probably another eight hours in wet clothes.
Really it's where shopping is a pleasure but sometimes we can't please everyone no matter how hard we try.
Thank you
I don't believe this either. I'm far from feeble and they've offered to help me with my cart of groceries more times than not, even though I turn down the help every time.
I don't believe this for one minute!
She must have been one rude shopper as Pubix has more customer service and class than most.
Why would u want someone to treat you like royalty and go out in the rain when u must go to your car
Get a life!
That's pretty awful. I can understand why the manager did not help you, but a good manager (or any associate) would have put on his raincoat and load your groceries into your vehicle regardless of rain.
It is true, Publix does have a corporate policy to suspend carry out service during a time in which thunder and lightning are present. Surely you can understand it is for the associate's safety, and not to inconvenience the customer.
awful experience
I worked for publix for seven long years. First job since high school. Started as cashier got all the way to customer service team leader then demoted myself because of all the crap with management not on the same page, lack of communication, favoritism, discrimination of clothing when fat managers can wear spandex and an attractive woman manager gets hated on because she has the curves in the right places and if you don't sleep with a certain manager, you lose in the end. When I retired, I talked to corporate about all my documentations and she told me its all who you know not what you know. Pretty sad coming from an ex customer service manager that is now in corporate cause she didn't want to play their games. Publix customers see the good side and the associates see the bad side of managers that don't deserve their position and the ones that do deserve it get nothing but criticism and told what you do wrong. I believe in compliments. They make you feel better and want to do better.

Your comment is just tactless and self-centered. It's far more likely that women are tired of being hit on, in a public place of employment. It's so common, a daily thing for so many. It's rather routine especially for attractive women that customers & coworkers will pry about their personal life, their marital "status." Old men who want "to introduce you to their son" is another common one. Women just get sick of the same ### from people all day - it's not just the act of being "hit on" itself, but of how bloody common it is. No, you're not going to "pick up" a grocery store clerk unless you already know them outside of their work. If you're just hitting on them, in all likelihood you're only making their job more difficult - they are paid to be friendly, their niceness isn't a 'sign' that they like you. So if the female staff is "uglied up" you can place a bet on the fact that getting hit on has a lot to do with it. Obviously, it goes the other way, too -- but getting hit on by gay men is far less likely (10x). And since it's far less common, if you're secure in your manhood, take it as a compliment. I do.
Of course I did. I even admit that I'm aware of the female perspective. I feel the same way when gay men hit on me. That's why I pointed to the gay women, who must be completely disgusted by male advances.
@ Diddlebot BTWs.
Uhhhh...are you sure it was the lesbians? Girls have been known to get harassed by male coworkers, so they could just not be wearing makeup in hopes that the advances stop. Or maybe their tired of being hit on by customers. We work long shifts, deal with jerky managers, and you think we want to be hit on? Sure some might but what about the one who don't. I know one girl hates it because her boyfriend sees it happen and gets mad at her. Did you ever stop to think how that might affect their private lives? No? Didn't think so.
I noticed at my local Publix the female employees started coming to work "all naturale" with no make-up not even foundation.
It made me wonder WTF!. I also noticed that two of the friendliest cashiers no longer work there. I deduced that there must have
been some type of "incident" and management decided to ugly-up the staff. Call me sexist, I don't care. I found the most "pleasure" I got
from shopping at publix was flirting with the cashiers. I can't imagine they enjoy the new rules. As a matter of fact, I noticed that a majority of the female employees appear less than enthused to work as they skulk around doing thier tasks. A few of the cute ones I used to tease won't even give me eye contact.
I've already blamed myself for this new policy as I may have come off as "creepy" to a woman who has no interest in men or appreciates a light-hearted compliment about thier attractiveness. It just doesn't add up. Instead, it appears to be a situation where the lesbians have pushed to be recognized for thier merits and can only level the playing field by making the pretty girls as ugly and butchy looking as themselves.
All I can say is...grow up. If a cashier hooks up with a customer and has a fling, or gets married, or whatever, why should anyone else
care or take offense? We're only human.
Yeah, the male/female double standards really stand out.
As I was filling out my app, I was approached by a female manager, and told I could not be employed at Publix unless I cut my hair (I have longer hair, Native). They said I wold not even be considered for employment otherwise. I'm a male, and it's their policy (which is getting rare these days, and has never even been an issue in the past). What bothers me most, is that I was told this by a woman with men's length short hair, wearing what would be considered "men's" clothes. Now, I myself have years of experience in Management and other relevant food knowledge. It is such a dismay that an innocuous physical attribute(my heritage), would be the deciding factor. Especially when the female equivalent is perfectly accepted.
I have female friends who work at the local publix, and they talk of problems during the after-hours "fronting" - the men all take off their work shirts, wearing nothing but "wife-beater" type shirts as it can be strenuous work. Female employees try to do this, and complaionts get made (by other female employees, no less) because the "more attractive" women are merely trying to keep cool while doing the job. Just the same as the men.
This arcane mentality has got to stop. I won't be surprised if one day Publix finds civil rights (Title VII) lawsuits on it's hands.
I've found that Publix will special order anything you desire if you're a frequent shopper in the store. Sometimes you can even special order things by the case if you'd like to purchase that many of an item. Ask your stockman for that particular isle to order what you don't see on the shelf. I've found them to be more than willing to accommodate.
the publix in my town is the same way. All we have is male managers and for some reason all the friendly workers and managers get "transferred" while the mean and grouchy ones don't. I hate whenever me and my family buys something we like (alot of it too) Publix "stops selling it" There was this frozen product that I use to buy for the whole case of (12 to a case) about twice a week. After a while I guess they got tired of having to store a good selling item on the shelves and did that line about "The truck's coming in Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturday/ tonight" thing. Sad thing is when the truck suppose to come they wold say "come later, we're still getting it off the truck" next day, "The truck came last night and they didn't have it." So I would go through this for about 2 months or less when they would flat out lie and say "They stop making them." Which I thought "aww poopies" until I went to the stores site and saw that it was still in the listings and that Harvey's and Walmart sold them still. It's been over a year and Harveys, Wal-mart and the food's website, still has them. Some might say they got rid of it because they wanted to replace it with something that would sale like eggplant casserole. Oooh its flying off the shelves. They just don't want to carry it no more. Lately we've had the same problem with our grits. Although we don't buy a whole case of them, Publix never has them. In fact where they have the area to put the grits they replaced them with cheese lovers. No one is buying cheese lovers everyone wants original. But guess who has tons of original? Harvey's and for 40 cent cheaper too.
rude personnel
I went shopping @ the publix in port saint Lucie fl. on us1 and prima vista and on that day i went shopping for business and personal items @ publix. To make a long story short i was waiting for the employee @ the deli to slice meat for me and she was very pleasant. My 1 year old was getting restless for sitting in the cart and i tried my best to tend to her. If you are a parent you can imagine how hard it is shopping with a little one. As i was tending to my daughter i hear a voice scream with passion shut that baby up! UGGGGGGGGG! With all the mannerism to go with it.
I turned around to comfort her and she said she could not hear the customers because of my daughter. No excuse publix. Come to find out she is the deli manager. I went straight to the front desk with tears flowing from the embarrassment and abuse i had received. The manger came out and was not as worried about the incident as i was and he said the he would talk to her. I said that’s not enough and i told him i was contacting the corporate office. he said go ahead and do that all their going to do is send me a letter and i going to talk to her like i going to do now and that’s all. so i was in tears my daughter was upset to see me upset and the manger did not do anything to make things right.
I went home and contacted customer service and they were closed because it was Sunday. So i called the next day and left a message of my complaint. I then spoke to the district manager a few days later that heard my story and seemed very worried about the situation. He assured me that he would take care of the matter. He also said he would send a letter out to me. 1 week later a letter arrived with apology from publix and a gift card for 25 $. I am so dissatisfied with the way this was handled. I will not use their gift card and i will not let this go, the deli manger and publix needs to be held liable for customer and child abuse. Shopping is not a pleasure with publix. Thanks for hearing me out.

This complaint just illustrates why most publix customers like you make working there an utter hell most of the time.
went to Publix in Boynton Beach Florida. Young black girl names Nanci was in the express line working. There was only one other line open at 1pm and that line was backed up. I only had 14 items so I thought it would be safe, considering there was nobody in line at the express lane. nanci decided to make a remark about how she did not have to ring me up. She made it seem like she was doing me a favor by taking my money! I waited for her to finish ringing me up (the extra 4 items took about 3 extra seconds of her precious time) and as soon as I had my receipt, I told her that I worked for Publix for 7 years (true story) and I would have NEVER made a comment to a customer like she had. She then proceeded (there were 2 customers in line behind me at this point) to challenge me to go "try to get her fired". As I walked away, I could hear her laughing it up with those 2 customers about the apparent crazy woman who had dared get into the express line with 14 items. I then went to the manager, who literally looked at me like a deer in the headlights, with extreme pauses of uncomfortable silence, and finally asked me what my name was. He wrote it down, as if it somehow even mattered (WHAT WAS HE EVEN GOING TO DOOOO WITH IT?!) and asked me if I'd like someone to call me. WHY would I want someone to call me?! I told him thank you and that I would not shop there again, as there are several grocery stores in the area, and he actually had the nerve to smirk at me as I walked away. Such poor customer service. Not the company it was when I worked there.
I work at a publix, and under no circumstances was the deli manger right. she should not have talked to the customer that way, and the store manager should have showed some concern. the time that i have worked at publix i have learned that although they are a fortune 500 company they do not care abou their customers, or employees, all they are about is making money, as any other job. that customer should not have been talked to or treated that way. Although the deli manager should not have been fired she should have been placed on suspension of some sort, to set an example for all managers and even other employees that talking to a customer in a rude manor is not and will not be tolerated, but they are quick to suspend you for other things like tardiness, or calling in to work. They are missing the point, these people that you treat so rudely is the reason you get a pay check every week. For those of you that are on here calling this customer stupid, and a idiot, you must me one of the ones that talk to customers that way, but never forget, you're a customer in places you go, how would you feel if someone treated you that way?
How horrible. The manager should never have yelled. I work for Publix and see this stuff all the time. Most people dont have the gonads to call corporate. I would hope you would give Publix another chance. Not all employees or managers are like that. Some of us try to exceed expectation and some of us are better at taking a tough situation and turning it around. It sounds like you had a terrible day and they just made it worse. I am old school and believe every customer is valuable. With out customers we might as well close our doors. I work for Publix and i have seen wonderful managers and employees do great things. I have unfortunatly seen poor customer service and terrible behavior by publix managers and employees. They are human, but i know i have wondered how some of these people even made it through the interview. They dont smile they are not warm not friendly. How do they have jobs? Give Publix another chance. Also, keep corporate office informed. Squeaky wheel gets the oil. If more customers put in valid complaints them maybe they would quit pushing through these crappy managers. Again, i work at a publix not all my managers are nice and they all do not follow the Publix values.
I am so glad they have a website for all the stupid complainers to fuss about things... why dont you guys just go buy an island and all live on it so you all can hear each other complain... or better yet... drink the hormone injected, extended life milk that walmart sells... and eat their meat that stays on their shelf for over 14-21 days while Publix meat only stays on the shelf 3-5 days TOPS! freshest meat you will find... no added solutions... go complain about something else... you guys are pitiful... fuss fuss fuss... this is bad that is bad... wow... get a life
Child abuse? Really? What are you, stupid?
You got several verbal apologies, a written apology and $25 bucks for free, all because YOUR kid was holding up a business. Now, I understand that when a baby is uncomfortable, it cries -- it can't do anything else. You, however, are an "adult, " so I don't see why you burst into tears (you're not a baby, are you?) over the fact that no one likes a screaming baby -- especially when it's stopping the flow of business.
As for this "abuse"...
Did anyone hit you, threaten you, curse at you, or personally attack you? No. Someone told you to quiet your kid, and they were rude. It's nothing worth, uh, crying over.
Idiot.
While I do find that a Publix Deli Manager would do such a thing, I am more concerned in your reaction to the Publix response. What do you want from them, you received an apology from the Manager, an apology from the District Manager and a letter from Corporate apologizing with 25$ so what could you possibly want more from them? To fire every person you talked to and didnt find a correct response from? When you work 6 days a week 10-12 hours a day and have to deal with people all day then come to me with an actual complaint.
I'm sorry to hear that you were upset. Maybe the deli person was just stressed, and you definatly must have felt overwhelmed. Sometimes we just have to take the baby out of the seat, go for a walk or give a hug. The manager made you feel as though it would be swept under the rug. He may even be friends with the deli mgr. The truth is they see the customer as
irate and emotional and probably wouldn't have said much to the deli mgr. at all. They'll just throw gift cards at you. Sorry you had such an unfortunate experience.
rotten service
Where do u go to complain, if the mgr doesn't care? Publix at Hollywood Mall must be the worst place to shop: employees ignore u or send u in the wrong direction. At the produce the green apples were black. So i tell the employee if she can take a damp cloth and wipe them. She said it's up to the customer to do that. I said sure but what if i walk out the door and want to eat one or my kid wants to bite in one. I tell u the Granny Smith were covered with black foam that seemed to have been pulled off it at random. She said U should see what some ppl do with the cherries and grapes. They sample them in large quantities. I said if ppl steal u have a security guard standing at the door chatting up good looking blondes. Tell him to do his job and arrest the robbers.
So i called the mgr. I asked him if he wanted to buy those apples. He realized they looked bad enough and took the amount i wanted and went himself to wipe them. The rest stayed black. At the cash register i was shocked to see the oldest bagger in the world throw my apples with a loud thumb into the paper bag on top of my peaches. I told him to go easy on them that they are not made of plastic. He continued to bag as sloppy as he could and treat my groceries worse than i treat my trash. He clearly never got training. I can go on with incidents at the fish counter where foreign customers were treated like second class citizens and bumped their turn or hours i have to wait for bread that no one knows what it is called nor what the ingredients of it are. Once an employee did not know what whole wheat meant.
When i showed the same manager -chatting with the security guard- how my bags had been folded like trash bags, he simply mumbled, showing how little he cared. I have a feeling Publix does not train their employees nor managers properly and wonder what's behind the hiring of these ignorants.
Most of your complaints are a little unrealistic. Do you have any idea the man hours it would take to individually whip down every fruit before it was put on the sales floor. I think most people buying produce realize that it should be washed and cleaned properly before consuming. If you wanted to eat right away, there is already cut fruit.
Then your problem with the bagger is questionable. You asked for paper bags which makes in difficult to not "drop" or as you said "throw" your apples into the bag on top of your peaches. I doubt he actually bruised your fruit.
"He clearly never got training." You clearly never properly took an English class.
And finally, you complain that your bags where folded like trash bags? What does this even mean? He probably didn't care because you complained about something nonsensical. A paper grocery bag does not resemble a trash bag in any way, so how might one be folded like the other? Your complaint makes no sense, so maybe you should stop bad mouthing a company that was doing its best to help your irrational expectations for a super market. You wouldn't get half the help your received at any other grocery store, especially Wal-Mart.
And the to other complainers on this space, do better at your job, and don't be so concerned with your managers and just maybe you'll have a better shot at getting promoted.
I agree. I can only judge my store but you are right. I have been in customer service for 25 years. I have worked for 4 seperate companies and i believe in the core values of publix . Not one of my managers uphold the publix values. They dont show any respect for employees . They hide in office during peak times ..when a customer needs them they are mad because they got interupted and i have even been yelled at for calling a manager to the front to speak with the customer(when the customer asked to speak to a manager). I was yelled at and when i actually started to cry because i was so frustrated i was laughed at by this manager. I actually think that publix is a great company and i will stay with publix but i also believe with all my heart that (my managment) are the biggest waste of space and are useless human beings. They are mean, rude and poor excuses for managers.
Publix says that their employees are the company and that we are the back bone of their industry. What ###! My store manager is so selfish he will never promote anyone because he is under trained, has not delt with his own fears and insecurities and is so afraid someone is smarter than him, which is not hard to do that he will not promote anyone. Everyone hates him and no one will say anything but they will talk behind his back like they have a backbone. I intend to make a formal complaint to corporate about him and the manager staff. Watch! I'll be fire to make the problem go away.
The complainant may go to the malls customer service and submit to them an incident report. If the complainant can take a photo of them or a cam of them mumbling and not helping their customers, that is much better. They can show those photos or video to the public and report it the proper authority like Department of Trade and Industry for questioning. As an employee to a service oriented company, this rotten services is a big no no to me. I would really get their names and submit a proper complaint in black and white as they really need proper training on how to handle quality customer service. I will put an ad on newspapers and magazines not to threat them but to let the public know about the incident and check out for themselves.
fraud and scam
Rumors are that, Publix has a habit of placing milk on the shelves up to 5 HOURS after delivery. Many people wonder why after shopping at PUBLIX they often come down with some kind of FOOD POISONING. That could be one of the reasons. I have spoken to employees of the store who have confirmed this is true. This is just one of MANY abuses PUBLIX is guilty of.

I have worked for Publix for7 years 4 of them were as an asst.deli manager. In the 4 years I tested for deli manager once a year and had high passes and was denied promotion. Just 2 stores away a younger girl with only 1 year as an asst.deli manager gets an instore promotion while I was working there so she could have her weeks vacation. What a slap in the face! So when I get there I work as hard as ever because that position was not filled yet. 1week of correcting all things that was wrong in the deli, shining ever so brightly so I thought. During the week an afro-American came to me with concerns of racial slurs made to her, I immediately went to the store manager to help with this issue, I did what I thought was right for the associate. Well now Friday is here and its time for me to return back to my store really believing I was finally got the promotion, and it was over. I went to bat for an associate and her rights and I was wrong cause that’s not the way Publix and politics. Needless to say "IF YOU DON'T PLAY, YOU PAY." I worked for Publix for another 6 months and was treated so badly that I walked away after 7 years. And today 2 months later my associates still call me and complain to me how they are be treated with no respect and no dignity.

Places like Pubix only care about cheap presentation not quality substance. suburbanites are a bunch of brainwashed minions they forget why you go to a Grocery Store, not for the nice expensive overhead and wide aisles but for the quality of the food! Pubix has the worst Meat and Seafood Dept. It's way over priced and of poor quality. Reason Pubix cheap meat is so expensive is to pay for the things you don't go there to buy like their cheap expensive overhead, stores, shopping carts, and wide aisles, I don't go to a Grocery Store to walk up and down the wide aisles or to push their shopping carts around' then again it's the only fun you can have in the bland boring flavorless suburbs' I go for the quality of the things like fresh meat and Seafood which Pubix is the worst. Suburbs are where the Sheeple live! Where ever I live I don't want to see a Pubix with in 100 miles of me because I know the deadly suburbanites are on their way to stink up another country town!
Worked publix 4 years. I don't kiss ###. I work hard. My managers hated me because I wasn't a good old boy that knows their family somehow. I worked grocery For 4 years. I ROI for produce for 4 years, managers hired new people off the street into produce before they would ever put me there. I never could get benefits or full time. I was the soul trainer for my department for all new people, because I was good and taught the right way to do things. I have been called lazy, incompetent and stupid by my assistant store manager. New people coming into my department were all friends of the managers. They were also hired in making more money then me. Again I was there for 4 years. My assistant store manager hazed me and harassed me, picked on me while the ### kissers got his praise. I called corporate In retaliation they were just as useless. I left publix for another job, after I left I still had to shop for groceries but every time I went in is get looked at like a piece of crap. I won't shop there anymore as a result. As a customer manager never would acknowledge the 10foot 10second rule. I played by the rules and still got rep remanded. I love my new job I've been there 4 months and am a manager already. My boss tells me he appreciates all my hard work. I get paid well and good benefits. They are even thinking of putting me into corporate as a marketing analyst. I have always thought I was the reason I never went far at publix but now I know it was publix who is a fault. I came to this conclusion after my new boss said he wanted to call publix and thank my old managers for giving him me lol. Rule of thumb if you don't get anywhere at publix after a year you will never get anywhere in the company, cut your losses an get a new job trust me. I've missed oh on extra college work and a rewarding career elsewhere due to my ignorance.end statement: everyone of us is worthy, we all posses strengths and weaknesses to let a company tell you your not good enough simply won't do especially when you feel it in your bones and muscles at the end of every shift. This shows the level of work you put forth, you body doesn't lie greedy corporate pigs do. You are not a slave you are a special human being stand up defend yourself have honor and dignity they can't take it from you even when your dead. Do not kiss the feet of organized slavery, do not agree when you disagree. Individually we are weak together we can move mountain stand up for yourself and the human being next to you because your all each other has.
I worked at publix for 8 months. The one I worked at thought that I was a slave.I was a bagger, they would not give me a cashiers position because they already had met their affirmative action quota. Only the black baggers were sent outside to get carts, and escort customers. All the white baggers stayed inside all day but I stayed outside my entire shift pushing carts in 90 degree weather because I was in Florida.
Long story short I made my concern known to all of the managers even the black sell out one who was the only black manager . I got ignored and even called tattle tail or snitch. They had me clean the garbage bin, and scrape up gum and all humiliating tasks, as if they did it on purpose. I have PTSD post traumatic stress disorder from being raped they had me clean the mens bathroom everynight and I wasnt allowed to tell the customers that they couldnt enter the bathroom while I was in there cleaning. One guy started to take a piss in my presence I had to run out of the bathroom and I was very terrified. I told the managers to get a man or teenage boy to clean it because I didnt feel safe. They ignored me and nothing changed . I had my schedule changed thats what it took they did not care. I couldnt deal with it anymore I almost passed out one day from dehydration from being outside my entire shift in 90 degree weather. I quit that day and they knew they were wrong because Im still hireable at publix. Ive developed heel pains on both feet from working at publix. I pushed carts my entire shift and then had to walk home so now my feet are screwed up and thats my story .Please publix is racist, sexist, and discriminates against the disabled.
People like the ones you describe aren't big enough tools to remain at a company for SEVEN years if the company sucks so badly. Let me guess...you're super brilliant, creative, and industrious...the only reason you aren't in charge is you are either "too honest" or you won't "kiss a**"
I've worked for Publix in Lakeland for 7 years now and am quitting this year. This is one of the worst companies I've worked for. They treat employees like crap and refuse to let us even apply for other jobs within I.S. Tom Larson, Doug McLarty and Ryan Richardville are complete suckups and yes men. Larson being the vice-president is a real jerk. Just ask him ... he is proud of it. Doug and Ryan just like licking Tom Larson's boots so they can move up. Biggest hypocrites I've ever met. I don't worry too much though ... people like that usually get what's coming to them sooner or later. Just hope it's sooner!
I work for an inventory company that does Publix inventories (full and partial). From what I see the management is clueless on how to actually run a store the only thing they care about is making themselves and their numbers look good. I have had managers ask for a section of aisle that I just counted accurately and to the best of my ability (given the fact that their shelves are so jammed packed and so close together that it is nearly impossible to count) come back and say they I completely screwed up and that they want it recounted. All they do is look at their variance reports and if those are wrong it is automatically assumed that it is my fault. They never even think of the other multitude of factors that it could be. Not knowing which employees are full time and part time, I cannot make a distinction of which ones are worse all I know is that throughout the many inventories I have done for them the majority of employees are very arrogant towards me as if working in retail grocery is so above working in inventory.
i must say Yes, Publix is very challenging and one sided. they talk about how much benefits and growth and so on. and in realtiy it's All ###...You first can't even qualify for the benefits if you don't work 1500 hours in one calender year which means it may take you two years at 32 hours a week just to qualify. there employee evaluations are made in a way to make it practically impossible to get more than a .15 cent raise and this is a company with record profts of .55 cents a share and all they can give to there part time employess is a bias meger raise... Shame on the Publix board members that compose these rediculous rules and benefits. oh by the way, all of the board members are family of the foudners and are all multi millionaires. I would love to see them survive on a $9.00 an hour partime job at publix. you can't even get fulltime as they hate hiring 40 hour a week employees. They save money by exploiting and hiring mostly part time workers. How did they ever make it into the top one hundred companies is beyond my belief... Shame on Todd Jones and all of the Jenkin clan for discriminating against the partime employess. Do the part time employee not work as hard as full time? Or do your really think partime employees work part effort as well? not a chance with all the cameras overlooking... yes as one of the otheR complains stated, Publix really deserves to be unionized... Publix board members, you know better... TREAT your partime employess with respect and real benefits that they deserve.. by the way, the part timers are the ones that really work, the full timers are busy playing the system screwing off the whole day...You have the possiblities to really make it a " Were working is really a pleasure"
Working for Publix. What a joke. The motto should be "Where working is a living hell." Over the top management, absolute hypocrites. Managers and anyone who is at the customer service desk gets to sit around on their phones or stand there and talk while "watching the front end". Everyone knows watching the front end takes four people... Oh and I have no problem cleaning up a spill on my own in five minutes, yet it takes 3 managers 30 minutes. My question, where the hell are the higher ups to fire all these [censor]? Get on everyone's case about nothing, and then giving them [censor] scores on their evaluations after they bust [censor] so they don't get a raise. Oh and if you're a bagger, I hope you can hold your own and be the custodian as well. I didn't know custodian was in the job description. Worst company I have ever worked for. Hands down. It's to no surprise that most of the workers talk about bringing a gun in and killing everyone if they could. If you're not an [censor]-kisser or a two-faced [censored], don't work here.
I was supposed to attend my saftey class tonight and i cant start working until the class is done how ever my baby sitter decied to not show up leaving me in a rush to find a replacement. I found one and was running very late when i went to drop her off long story short I forgot to run a razor over my face I drove fourty minutes and upon entering the class was asked to leave due to dress code violation. I shaved sunday morning and there reallly wasnt a lot of hair on my face but nonetheless i was sent home now i have to wait another whole week until the next class. I called the manager of my store and insted of discussing other solutions he simply said " Not a good start buddy" for a company the supposed to take care of there employees they certinly arent living up to the hype is this what im getting myself into a company that niether cares nor understands that stuff happens. Ive been unemployed for a while now and really cant go another month without a job my work scedule was already made and I wont be allowed to clock in until this class is done now im really afraid that they're going to fire me insted of letting me drive to another location to attend the class Im freakin out and not sure what to do I turned down several other job offers because i was told that publix is such a great place to work and I really dont want to go back to squre one. IIm also a recoverung drug addict and was really on the verge of turning over a new leaf I fear that the loss of this job willl greatly hinder that process if not destroy it all togeter
I worked in two different stores and I started off as a front service clerk / bagger. I worked in that position than moved to Custodian and then to Grocery. I was then request a transfer to a store near my house and which I receive. When I started working there I was later told by a cashier that the Common Area Manager use to babysit her when she was young. I also found out that the cashier's dad was my previous store manager and was buddy buddy with my store manager. She got her way and I was all into "I love Publix" back then. I got transferred to Produce and then to Seafood. I will tell you that ALL managers do NOT care about you and they do not give two cents about you either.
I worked for that company for twelve years yes you read right twelve years and counting and never once did they let me go full time. They came with all their Bravo Sierra about it all the time. Also now every department has this demo from 4pm to 7pm what the crap is that. I am a Seafood clerk and they tell me I got to work Meat to as a part time. They can go and you know what.
Benefits are only good if they let you work fifteen hundred hours a year and every year you got to do fifteen hundred hours. That sucks and how fair are you to the employees. Also the good thing is that they give employees stock which in the true nature is not that much. Also they give you retirement money to after five years of service.
Every five years you are invited to breakfast and hear all their Gay speeches for all the big shots.
The only thing I like about that place is the cashiers that work there. Some are good looking and most of them are not.
The only thing is that some employees that I work with wanna be friends with other Publix employees and have the mutual bonding after work. Also the conversations in the break room is "Publix, Publix, Publix" and nothing else. The more you suck up to management the more they like you.
Oh and for taking pictures in the store they think you are one of their competitors and trying to make you store better than Publix. I also know this for a fact. They do not like when you take pictures or even film inside the store.
Also if you are not white they think you do not speak English. They must be dumb because I was taught British English growing up. They hate it when I speak another language.
Plus now they have this Gay event when only GAY people can shop at the store and mingle with other GAY customers. They already did it at one of their stores in Miami and I REFUSE to shop at any Publixs in Miami.
