I have placed at least 20 or more bids on items that were supposedly seized from police/government raids and siezures. On every item, I was not the high bidder, but was sent an email with a second chance offer to buy this item at a higher price. Every email says that another one of the itmes had been located and was for sale to me at this higher price. Since when do police/government seizures include multiple jewelry items exactly alike? This is a scam website that peddles items in an auction setting when really they are expecting a certain price for an item, when they don't get it, they offer you a "second chance" buy. SCAM!

This is an official response from the company to clear up misinformation on smear blogs like this. Second Chance Offers on similar inventory are often priced higher than the auction and this is disclosed in our terms of service. If you don't win at auction, it's because you didn't bid enough. If you bothered to read the terms or to call us for an explanation, you would know this. Bottom line is we don't misrepresent anything and these complaints are ridiculous.

If someone does have a problem with purchase or anything else regarding our site, we are very consumer friendly and easy to reach via the toll-free number. You can talk to a live human. We publish our auction notices and disclosures page, which fully explains what happens with a purchase should something go wrong, ie lost item, wrong description etc. Mistakes occasionally happen, as they do in any business, but when they do we stand behind the customer 100%. If you have questions, please call us, we are happy to help you.

I asked the customer service at policeauction.com where they got their items because I wondered the same thing. They indicated that they have contracts to liquidate merchandise. The auctions are not really police auctions they are run by Vortel Inc. However, when I was sent the wrong item (which was damaged also). I was told to return it and they would send another. I had to pay to ship back the damaged and incorrect item sent to be by THEIR MISTAKE. So I did that. I wait a couple of weeks and see that they have received and processed my item. I also notice 3 of the same items going up for auction while I am waiting for my replacement. I finally call them and they say they don't have anymore so they will just refund it. After I questioned them further, the customer service person said well, we have 3 more on order so we will get more. They ended up just refunding my original bid and shipping. I think they just didn't want to spend the money to ship me my item. So I did not receive the item I bid on and it cost me an extra $12.95 for nothing. I have since seen 2 other of the same items going up for auction. So they did have them.

You need to be very careful when bidding on this site. They seem to have good bargains but they tend to send items that are not as described, the wrong item, or damaged items. (This has happened to me several times now.) You will then have to pay to send the damaged or wrong items back and at best get a refund for the original bid.

I can't say if the items being sold are genuine yet, but I am checking that out as well.

It would have to be a very, very good bargain for me to chance bidding again.

They are scammers...they make sure they overcharge for shipping to make up for the price. I mean they sent me an item that cost 12.95 for shipping that cost them $3 to ship...total BS and as for them thinking its a smear blog...screw them...shipping prices alone are a flippin scam and a half.

I bought a few items of which 2 were definatly not described as they posted them. The ring is a 50/50, but the stone is definatly flawed with lots of dirt or whatever in it. I will be taking my items to a jeweler to see if they are real and try to get a cost. I know one thing for absolute sure though, when they say their are diamonds in an item, trust me when i say it looks more like glitter then anything. Very hard to beleive there actually diamonds. As of the sterling silver or gold however is real because Im allergic to fake jewely and I have not broke out yet. And the shipping is ridiculous! Also i think they have a 15% restocking fee which in my case i think they should be sending me for advertising a peice of jewelry that is not what they are sending you. I learned a lesson and now I am going to get my money back one way or the other and buy my 17 month old daughter what she needs.

Same with atauction.com. It's probably the same company using various names to scam people. Shipping at atauction.com is 11.95 and if you return the item you have to pay to return it . So both theses companies are a fraud and scam.

I am very happy I found this page. I did bid on two items and won. I did not pay much thank God. I am worried now and I won't bid no more. I have seen some of the rings that are retail 13, 000.00 go Fo 6 or 7 hundred dollars. I did also see a episode of Beverly Hills Pawn where a lady purchased a bracelet on the police auction site but not sure which one. It was a Cartier and she paid 25.00 it was real worth 25, 000.00 they gave her like 12, 000.00 so I don't know. I will do better research next time.

Looks like a fraud. Customer support is not answering all types of mail.
Shipping is not only overcharged but also misleading. They post one S@H before a payment and post $10 more after a payment was submitted.
Better to stay away.
All the best.

Agree this site is a scam. They use Police Auction title which is untrue and sell items which are not the price the merchandise is worth. You never receive a confirmation of a ship date.
