petfinder website
Petfinder website recently started not allowing rescues in Texas to use their site to adopt dogs out of state, specifically in the Pacific Northwest. An area that we have all adopted over 3000 dogs in the last 2 years. 3000 dogs that would have been euthanized for no reason except lack of space in the shelters.
Now our hands are being tied by petfinder and adoptions have come to a halt. 288 dogs were euthanized yesterday at ONE shelter. 288 dogs that rescue could not help because we have no way to adopt the dogs.
Petfinder is to blame for this and there will likely be 200 more dog this weekend.
This is unacceptable and petfinder needs to stop this immature cruel practice and let the rescues adopt out the dogs. Let us save lives.
my complaint is valid. and does not have to many
Hello my name is janet. I adopted dixie a few weeks ago from lois. She delivered dixie to my home on easter sunday. I worked at the apache jct. Police departmeny animal control division for 8 yrs. I also had a whi/chi mix for 13 yrs. Everything was going fine. At the first time in the yard she commented that my fence needed to have some chicken wire around it so
Dixie couldnt get out. I agreed. So the second time lois took dixie out to the yard. Dixie always wore a leash. I was just coming down the stairs when lois dropped the leash and went right thru the fence.in the mean time she went in my house and took my adoption papers in a blue folder. I looked everywhere for dixie. I see she was found and now up for adoption. Now I see that dixie is up for adoption. This is wrong. I don;t no why, please help me 9102772 phone #
Why is this invalid
Half these people are just bonafide nuts! Go to your pound, the classifieds, the pet store, but you’re asking for trouble from a lot of these whack jobs.

My experience EXACTLY!
employee
On September 22, 2018, we drove to Lucky Pets in Sterling Heights from Livonia Michigan to see a dog who was supposed to be there at noon. The dog arrived at 3:00.. We waited. The dog was great; the employee was the most unprofessional encounter I have ever had. Over text, she criticized me repeatedly for not giving my dog heartworm preventative medication when he has had an allergic reaction and the vet suggested that we not give him the medication. I can choose not to vaccinate my own children, but apparently not my dog. She even extended that criticism of rabies vaccines - which ALL of my pets have. I finally told her that if it made her feel better I would agree to give the new dog, Penny, heartworm medicine. Apparently, that was not sufficient. She continued to aggressively respond via text messaging until I told her that I felt we were arguing over text message and I have no interest in the situation becoming hostile. She called me today and actually yelled at me on the phone about the medication. (Her name is Marilyn and her phone number is [protected]). She accused me on the phone of spending all my money on drugs and alcohol instead of taking care of my pets. Not only is this professional unacceptable, but it is also insulting in so many ways. I have three cats and a dog - all in perfect health. It is insane to blatantly state that I choose drugs over my pets. I don't even drink! I wanted to adopt a pet that needed a home, as a companion for my dog. I can buy from a breeder. I was trying to do the best thing for both dogs. This woman has not only ruined that experience but has inspired me to take to social media to well my story - which I have NEVER done before. This woman should not be working with the public. I have blocked her number because she is STILL texting me rude texts. I have copies of all the texts if you would like to see them. Unfortunately, the drugs and alcohol accusation was over the phone.
Adoption of pets on petfinder
We found a puppy named Polar on Petfinder sent in a request through Petfinder if puppy still available, they sent us an e-mail right away saying several applications on this puppy BUT to fill out application which we did ASAP it was back to them within 2 hours. This was in there e-mail ( Our group covers NC and surrounding states for adoption as long as we can find someone we know and trust in your area to assist us with the approval process.) Now we had already told them where we lived. The next day we received an email stating (I am so sorry but we do not have any contacts in your area to assist us with the process). These are there words why could they not tell us that to begin with. These rescues are out hand and need someone to governor them and regulate them further. I have complained to everyone I can, please someone tell me what to do or whom to talk too
Horrible
I'm very sorry, but I just have to write a bad review about this company. My wife and I decided to adopt a very cute kitten. Few days after everything was settled we received a message stating we cannot adopt the kitten. That woman (who sent us that message) was just playing with our feelings! I tried repeatedly to get in contact with someone from this company, but they were not interested in working with us. I have all the messages to prove how heartless that woman is. She told that our family is not good enough for adoption. That was not very kind! My wife is very upset, as she was very excited about the kitten.
I agree they play with your feelings. You are led to believe that these animals are available only to find out there are many applications on them or are adopted out. I told them if there are many applications I am sure one of those applicants is a fit. We get our hearts set on the pic and we are refused time after time. The rescuers never think you are good enough. They want to come to your house and tell you where to put the litter box. I wish they put more time into adopting or fostering children the way they do their animals.
Petfinder.com will not help me get into my account
I have called begged, pleaded email and cannot get help or and answer to why I cannot get into my account.
We have been active since 2001 and have never stopped.
We changed our name and do sanctuary help as well as rescue.
We are in good standing with the State of SC and the Secretary of state where you register and get approved.
Our 501 3 C and IT'S are fine and updated and filed every year.
We also file and update every year with South Carolina in September every year since they require this.
Does anybody know what else we can do.
There is something really wrong with this business if you can call it that
Someone needs to take legal action against them.
I have dogs that needs homes The public needs to know we are here as a, rescue and sanctuary but Petfinder.com doesn't care
To help you out Go to chewy.com and chewy will register your info for any site related to pets. Not the owners just the pets.
PS! I forgot... You can advertise on Face book. I just think you cannot write "for sale". adoption works for many and they message the fee.
You might want to investigate this website adopts.com or this link below may be more helpful. It seems relatively new, I saw a video of the CEO who is still young and maybe not so jaded. And... Purina is VERY involved with adoption stuff. I buy my cats from Russia and they come with a sample of Purina food!

Ongoing Technical Difficulties
PetFinder hosts websites for individual animal shelters. I volunteer at one of them. For at least five motns, the shelter's website indicates that " PetFinder is having some technical issues. Not all of our adoptable animals are currently online."
I've contacted them twice and received only non-answers. They are a non-profit but need to hire some techies who know what they're doing. It's obvious the bunch they have is totally inept. They'd be better off starting over than trying to fix all the problems they have!
Use ADOPT-A-PET instead. They deserve the business - PetFInder certainly doesn't. They should be embarrassed.
This website dangerously protects the seller (good or bad)
Purchased a puppy through this website, had a negative experience with the seller, posted a review, and was just notified by petfinder.com it has been deleted. Apparently I am only allowed to shared documented facts - no hint of personal opinion. What is the definition of a customer review? This website dangerously protects the seller (good or bad). Watch out!
Irrational
Looking for a rescue dog to give a good home, I e-mailed this Pregnant Dog and Rescue in Newfoundland, PA. Just to inquire and tell her that the puppy would be well taken care of. Well I guess because I have an elderly person in the household, this Cindy who e-mailed me back, had a big problem with that. She thought the dog would get stepped on. I told her that would not be the case. She goes into this long detail on this and that and she was a behaviorist. I just wrote back that I didn't want her dog, but I thought she took her behaviorist degree way to seriously. So she took offense and called my employer screaming at the poor VP about me and attempted to get me fired. I would avoid this lady at all costs, she needs to use her behaviorist degree on herself. So if you deal with this so-called rescue shelter(I really think they aren't a rescue shelter at all) beware.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Cindy is great! She is saving dogs when others aren’t. Just because she turned you all down, you want the dogs to suffer by shutting her down? To me, she is probably trying to get good homes that aren’t going to dump the dogs down the line. That’s a hard job to do. People always say they’re gonna be great and their environment is wonderful and then all these same ppl take dogs to shelters for allergies, cuz they are having a baby, or because they don’t want to care for the dog anymore, making up all kinds of excuses. Maybe she doesn’t get it right all the time, but she has been doing this a long time so she must know what to look out for and can get ideas about people. You don’t need a perfect dog. If it is really about rescuing, you will move on and try to help any dog in a shelter or elsewhere. Rescues always have more stringent requirements than shelters. Just because you apply doesn’t mean you deserve the dog. To me, she walks on water! She dedicates her life to saving unwanted dogs. My family adores our lovable mutt and we didn’t have any problem adopting whatsoever!
Bit surprised by your review. Below is the response our daughter received from Cindy. In the best interest of the pets and family. You decide.

You sound great, but I won't put a dog in a situation that is going to then be taken out of the situation he is used to, within a year. It's not fair to the dog. The dog will be bonded with everybody in that home and then all of a sudden we'll be just with you, probably in a rental, maybe a fence or no fence, and it's just not fair. You seem great but you should really wait until you move out and know what your situation is going to be like, and then look for a dog. It would be the right thing to do for a dog. I wish you the best. Happy New Year

I’m 26 years old, and I live at home with my parents who are in their 60’s and who are very healthy. I’m the one who is applying for the dog and I will be moving out sometime within the next year.
On Sat, Dec 30,
I’m planning on moving out and living in gaffney at some point in the near future and my boyfriend’s family has a dog that is an outdoor dog and they would be able to play together and I may even get another young dog for the dog to play with. And yes, I’d be open to feeding the dog a different type of food if that’s what’s needed. I’ll do whatever I can to make the dog feel welcomed and loved.

Thank you so much I like your application other than the food that you feed. My concern is that this dog is only about a year old, and both of your dogs are seniors. At best your dogs will live two more years, and this younger dog is going to want to play a lot, and is going to bond with these two other dogs. And then suddenly we'll be all by himself. That is sad and depressing for the dog left behind. What is the plan? And you got to figure there's a good chance this dog will be around for 13 to 14 more years. That puts you into your late 70s. So hopefully you're active and agile at this stage without a lot of health issues, so that you're around as long as he is. I'm not trying to be intrusive or rude in any way but everybody is different in their 60s. Some people are still very active and in great health, and others, well they're already on a bunch of meds with a lot of Health issues. It can go either way as I'm sure you know. So I just don't want to put such a young dog in the wrong situation that won't be fair to him long term. Again I love your application, but want to make sure we're doing the best for everybody here. And are you open to feeding a better food? I don't understand why vets suggests Purina cuz it's just such crappy food. Thank you so much for wanting to rescue and happy New Year
Lovable Mutts is an amazing rescue. Cindy doesn’t play when it comes to providing the BEST home for the dogs she saves from being euthanized in kill shelters in SC and NC. She is a voice for these dogs. She ensures each dog goes to the right home! Just because someone wants to adopt a dog doesn’t make it the right fit. That’s what I admire and respect about her. It’s not about the money. It’s not about adopting. It’s about the dog having a better quality of life than it did before the shelter. She spends time with each potential adopter. She provides info on quality of foods and has the proper leashes and harnesses available. That is simply amazing. So for all those getting upset over this rescue caring more about the dogs than you move on! Too many dogs dumped in shelters because the dog wasn’t the right fit. Too many dumped because the family dynamic changed. Too many selfish people putting themselves above the dogs! Cindy is their hero ensuring this will NOT happen to her dogs that are adopted. There needs to be more Cindy’s. Our society are takers! Bullies to spread hate on reviews when they don’t get their way. May God continue to bless her and send wonderful and deserving people her way to adopt!
So I google everything when I am making a big decision. I found my dog on pet finder and then searched for info on Lovable Mutts Adoption Center, which is run by Cindy, and I came across the site. All of the comments ALMOST scared me away, but I'm so glad they didn't. Cindy is definitely someone with a strong personality but when you are trying to find forever homes for a bunch of dogs, would you want someone nonchalant just giving them away?
After reading the negative comments, and going through the experience of adopting with Cindy, I can tell you those people are bitter they weren't seen as adequate enough to take home a dog.
Cindy loves her dogs and wanted to ensure it was a good fit. We adopted a four year old pup hoping she'd fit into our current routine and so far so good! She's a great dog and we were given a lifetime guarantee Cindy would be there or take her back should anything arise.
Cindy is great. If you are going to adopt I'd recommend her to anyone. She has tons of options of great dogs, I'm happy we found ours.
Thank you for adopting with this amazing rescue!
I had a similar experience.
My family has gone through many professional and well regarded adoption processes and I've never seen an adoption process that was so miniscule and unprofessional.
Her email writing skills are lacking, for one, and she made a number of assumptions about myself and my partner. It didn't even seem like she had fully read through my emails or my application before making these assumptions.
She just assumed we were first time owners, which we are not, assumed the amount of time I've been in my relationship and in my rental.
I ended up telling her that we would be looking else where but I've never been so insulted by someone.
She needs to revise her adoption process. She was incredibly rude.
Same experience here. Our daughter left heartbroken. Judge for yourself from below email responses

I wish to God id seen these complaints before i applied. This Cindy is despicable! I applied for an Alaskan Malamute named Ren. Submitted to Lovable Mutts, also known as PDR, Pregnant Dog Rescue in Newfoundland PA.
Via email i was told he was mine and i could come up on Saturday for him. I was so elated and happy because i lost my boy on 04/11. Several emails back forth making arrangments. I even prepped here at home. I washed my boys bed! I washed my boy away, and had a talk with him that a new love was coming. I cried. I was excited and shared his photo with family and friends. A few hours later, i got an email simply saying sorry, we emailed you by mistake, there is another app before you and they will be taking him. I was physically sick. Devastated does not measure. I puked. These two rescues (if one in same) do not have a facebook page. Apart from the cruelty of what they did to me, i now suspect if they are even real. But even if they are, Cindy is an awful person and this encounter will stay with me for a long time. Do NOT apply here.
barb bender- brbbender@yahoo.com I have picked 11 pups and never get reason why I am not getting them? is their something wrong with my appcation form if so email an tell me what is wrong.i have been doing this for a long time I just want a small pup that will stay about no more than 12 pounds grown.i need a complain to keep me happy, that is all I can say you need to tell me what is wrong I am looking every day.
I am a landlord, this woman called me to verify that I was the landlady and she left on my voicemail that because my tenant is my sister I will tell her what she wants to hear. I called back and she asked me about my 2 dogs and I thought the conversation was going great until she asked what I fed my dogs. I told her and it flipped a switch and this woman went crazy on me yelling. I asked her 4 times if she was a vet and she finally said no. I said my dogs are happy and healthy and that's all that matters. She told me vets don't care about the dogs they just want my money. I emailed Cindy and she said "that's not exactly what happened" it is exactly what happened. I had a friend here and the woman was on speakerphone which she was aware of, and I have the voicemail. Then in the second email she sent she said this lady's crazy was "passion". My tenant got the puppy, the puppy has 2 wounds that this woman who called me gave her. My tenant took the puppy to the vet and they told her that the puppy needs to get put under have the wounds cleaned and be stitched up. She called someone at the rescue and they told her bring the puppy back and she will see their vet. Why didn't she see their vet to begin with? I reported this rescue to the state, and under no circumstances will I let any of my tenants adopt from here because as a landlady I don't want to deal with their bad attitudes.
wow - this sounds like a bunch of crap to me. We have adopted several dogs/pups over the years from Cindy and it has always been a great experience. She would NEVER tell anyone a pup is housebroken, for anyone knows an 8 week old puppy is not housebroken. That is why she has the washable wee-wee pads down for them to use. If folks are turned down for 2 pups it is because she knows her pups well enough to know if they should stay together or be separated. She would never tell anyone how long a pup might live - who would ever be able to know this about a puppy or a dog! You guys are so full of crap! Her place is spotless and above board.
She has her license on the wall and passes inspection every time (found on govt website). Funny how you love your dog, and I would bet it is a great dog. She knows her dogs and puppies well and takes great care of them.
What a bunch of mean spirited people you are. I have gotten 3 dogs from her of various ages over the years and 2 are still with us. Great dogs; great experience; a wealth of knowledge and help over the years.
We highly recommend her organization to anyone wanting a puppy or a dog. See for yourself. She is strict, but she is fair and honest.
Bullies suck!
Sounds like Condy’s the bully.
actually you are the one who is full of crap. Agree that bullies suck so perhaps you should find something else to do with your time other than make assessments about situations you were not a part of and have no business commenting on.
I call bs here. Youre probably Cindy. Kind of sounds like it from crazy emails ive gotten in response from her. If she is licensed, she shouldnt be anymore.
I found my family's experience with Cindy to be very undesirable and even a little sketchy. It even became a joke in my family to just refer to her as "the crazy dog lady" because of her antics. We first contacted her about a beautiful cockapoo puppy that we badly wanted. She emailed us back saying it was still available and as soon as she processed our application we could come see him. A few days before going to see him(after she already implied he would be ours) while emailing to confirm our visit time, she mentioned he was no longer available and sent pictures of a few other pups she had. The other pups were a different breed entirely, when my family wanted that nice golden cockapoo look in our dog that these ones did not have. We decided to give the others a chance and still went on our visit. She assured us the dogs were completely potty trained but while there we watched them pee on the floor of the area they were kept in. Half of my family fell in love with the runt of the litter and half fell in love with her brother. After discussing the possibility of getting both or just one, we said we would email her with our decision in a day. The next day we emailed saying we wanted both and she responded very hostile saying we were not fit to own two dogs, and must choose one. We were forced to choose and when we discussed with her our plans of foods and training (a respected food and a respected training program and method) she again implied our incompetence and said she would only give us the dog if we bought the brand food she said(which my vet later recommended we not use). She told us that we should be careful because our specific pup got sick shortly after birth and almost died, so we might not expect her to live more than a few years(after we already bought her, and also was later dispelled by the vet). When we asked about my pup's parentage, she assured us it was 50% poodle 50% terrier, and showed us pictures of the mother, who did not look 100% terrier, and my dog, now fully grown, definitely looks like there are more breeds mixed in there. We absolutely adore our dog, but as soon as we got her in the car we all said the same thing "We are never talking to this woman ever again." She boasts about how many of her dog buyers send her updates, but we refuse to have that negative attitude aimed toward our loved pup. To this day we still wish we could have got her brother because having both dogs would have been great in the acclimation of the one we got to our family, seeing as she was a very anxious pup and did not adjust well to a new place, as well as giving her a friend for when we are not able to be around. We really wanted two dogs and we wish our pup had her sib. We were lied to by Cindy about our first dog of choice, mislead about her agreement to our intentions to buy two dogs, and berated for our plans for our own dog. Cindy's whole operation seemed shady from the get go and I would not recommend her to anyone. Love my dog though!
I had issues with Cindy too. We came across puppies she had so my fiancé filled out the application and spoke to her. We went to meet the puppies and she to us we could pick which one we wanted out of those not spoken for already. We decided on which on we liked the one that went right over to my fiancé and then laid by my son on the floor. She said that was fine, left the room for awhile and returned. When she returned she tried to turn our interest to another puppy until it started to bark then she was like oh never mind that one has an attitude. Then suggested a different one. We told her we still liked the one we originally picked she said that was fine. When we were leaving and gave her the deposit she told us to think about the one we liked and the one she suggested and let her know by the end of the day but we could have either one. A few hours later we told her we still wanted the one we picked and she told us she doesn't know to give it a week and then she will decide. Less than 12 hours later she told us we couldn't have the one we wanted and she had already sent out our deposit to be returned. I emailed her to let her know I wasn't happy that she said we could have the one we wanted, suggested to my son he would have a new puppy and then suddenly decided we couldn't have it less than 12 hours later. She told me my son would get over it. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.
scam responses
I have received 3 response's that I know are scams. They want to adopt my dog for an adoption fee that I have not asked for. The people have all wanted to use a pet carrier service to come to my door and pick up the pet. They want to send me a cashiers check, even though I have told the them that the pet was free to a good home. All 3 want me to cash the check and pay their pet carrier, which they assure me the check will be more than enough, then (it's not clear what to do with the rest) I assume, send them the rest of the change.
Horrible business perspective
So I call this company about a dog found on petfinder and the person who is supposedly the "Director" did absolutely nothing to help me. I went out of my way to find out information necessary for an animal adoption and Ashley Clark, the Director of Daviess County Animal Control, handled the entire situation in a very poor manner. She disregarded emails, ignored calls, and lied to me many times about being able to adopt the dog. I am an honest person, who would love to adopt a dog that has no certain future, but apparently the fact that I lived out of state was an inconvenience to this lady. I hope that others have better luck when dealing with these people, but by the way she reacted, it wouldn't seem that she has good business ethic in general, so the outcome would likely be the same.
I also have had problems with Daviess County Animal Control and Ashley Clark. My suggestion is to write to the local newspaper here and they will publish your concerns under readers write. Here is the web address: www.messenger-inquirer.com go to opinion menu and then submit a letter.
Another avenue is to contact Ashley's boss the Daviess County Fiscal Court and their address is 212 St. Ann Street Owensboro, KY [protected]
They also do a call-in show on the local cable station. Here is the phone number [protected] or you can e-mail in your question to john.bryenton@kctcs.edu.
I hope you get your concerns addressed it is not right that you were lied to!
Fraud and scam
I want anyone looking to find a home for their pet to avoid PetFinder.com like the plague. All responses to any ad you place is coming from a biotech company NOT IN AMERICA! The people responding will send a post such as this: I love to your pet am look to find good home I have kid(s) and lost pet need to give my love to your pet I pay and for ship send info below now.
NAME...
ADDRESS...
PHONE NUMBER...
LOCATION...
I wait for respond you give pet to me for good home.
The above is not who you think it is and all they want to do is play on your need to find your pet a good home and possibly the money. They will send most any amount requested and it will always come UPS Courier/Next Day Air.
DO NOT BE FOOLED LIKE I WAS! IF YOU ARE YOU MUST CONTACT THE FBI and LOCAL AUTHORITIES Immediately! We can fight this and as a group we can... change the world.
Petfinder is simply a clearing house -an enabler for so called vendors who supposedly have advertised pets available for adoption, petfinder does not screen these vendors for ethical and moral policies when dealing with the public seeking pets. These vendors (supposed foster care homes) are scam operations -fake operations seeking money to support their "fostered" pets, pets they have no intention of placing these animals with anyone. They will not return communications and in reality they are the antithesis of pet rescue organizations, these businesses actually act as act as gatekeepers, blocking potential, adopters from providing good homes to pets. Your best bet is to seek a pet at your local Humane Society, their mission is to help match and assist with real home placements thru adoptions.
I volunteer at a very small local rescue. We have had good results in getting some of our animals adopted out via Petfinder.com. What you have to remember is Petfinder.com isn't adopting out the animals various rescues and shelters are adopting out the animals. Petfinder.com is simply a "classified" ad posting site. From the other side of the fence I get a lot of inquiries from potential adopters, I exchange many many emails only to have the potential adopter suddenly disappear. Why you might ask is this a problem...well I'm a volunteer, when I'm answering emails I'm doing this on my own time-I've come to suspect there are some people who get a kick out pretending to be interested when they actually have no intention of adopting a pet. On the other hand, I have spent hours exchanging emails and have had the pet adopted out to the most incredible person. All I want to do is find the best home for our adoptable animals. And we do take back animals that don't work out for whatever reason, no questions asked. If your gut is telling you the rescue is questionable, move on. There are a lot of really good rescues...and a lot of animals that could use a fresh start in life with a loving and caring owner. When I get an animal into a new home I feel such joy, that's why I keep going even when I have bad experiences.
My dog ran away. The very next day, she was up for adoption at a local shelter, but they claimed that she was already adopted, and they posted her as adopted on petfinder. But I found out after that, that they actually sent her to a high kill shelter, who promptly killed her. I told petfinder about this, and they don't give a s**. If that happened to my dog, it can happen to anyone. And the original shelter who had her killed? They DEMANDED that I pay them $50, which I refused of course! Adopt from your local private citizens or from a reputable shelter, but seriously steer clear of petfinder!
Be very careful when you adopt a dog! The dog we adopted did not work out and the rescue group refused to take him back as was stipulated in their contract. There was never any follow through after we adopted him. They are quick to place dogs and that's where the buck stops.
I used petfinder.com on 4 separate occasions looking to give a loving home to a homeless cat. The result was a lot of frustration and not one cat that was adopted. Unanswered emails, unanswered phone messages and broken engagements were my rewards. It is interesting to note that there is a large "Sponsor Me" button on the website so that you can send in $$$ for the pet that interests you. I honestly believe that many of these animals are not really available for adoption. Save your money. I don't trust petfinder.com and I will never use them again.
My husband and I responded to an ad for a baby pug listed in Sylmar, CA. The ad on petfinder.com said the the animal was house trained, vaccinated, and spayed. When we made contact with the owner, she said that the dog was "almost spayed" and that she also needed to find a home for her IMMEDIATELY because of some excuse about her cats. She said she would drive the pug to our house and then pick it up in a couple of days for her spaying appointment...also she needed a deposit up front. The whole thing was really shady- when we asked if we could come visit the pug in her environment first, she gave us some excuse about a severely sick cat that needed to be quarantined from humans. WHATEVER. Too many red flags to ignore.
I am in total agreement. It is shameful what some people will pull...!
I myself have had nothing but frustration and disappoinment in trying to get a little puppy into our home to love!
I posted an ad to find a a home for a dog at Animal Control that I had an attachment to, and have received almost the exact same email from different email addresses with terrible english. The person/people offering to pay for her want a shipping company to pick her up (what? no. come get the dog.) and lots of my personal info (what? no. come get the dog.) and say they live at addresses that, once googled, do not exist or are homes for sale. DO NOT COMPLY. They start with 'How are you doing over there today with your adorable pet?' and go on to describe some sort of family situation. 'we have a Female Daughter Kerry Theodore, she cherish pet a lot ' (female daughter? how bout just a daughter. she cherish a lot? ...) 'I am capable for the adoption fee for the pet i really love to have your pet to be part of my lovely family' ...'i will be sending you the pictures of the lovely pet to you after he gets down to our lovely family' (the pet was a she) 'so that you will know how caring we are for pet because we are not a pet abuser' (a pet abuser?) 'i have a reliable and competent pet shipping company they shipped pet for my family in some years back... that will be coming to your door step at your location for the pick up of the pet at your location after you might have receive my payment' (shipping? no. come get the dog.) 'i will need you to provide me with your full payment information such as: Your full name to be written on the cashier check your Physical contact address Your area zip code Your Phone numbers for smooth communication' (who in their right mind...? no.) 'be rest assured that we are a loving and Caring family in Mathew family...read from you soon'. (the 'matthew family' this time, huh? bc you sign the email as 'Mr Mike Colin.' and the last time, you were 'David Ryan'.)
I attempted to adopt a horse from Petfinder.com. The horse was listed as located in Huntington WV. It was free and I made application only to find that the rescue place was in Huntington WV but the horse was located in Grafton, several hours away! After the horses were delivered to the rescue organization, the owner of the organization, Tinia Cremeans, stated that I could not have the horses at my current farm. She took an instant dislike to the barn owner for an unknown reason and stated that I could not take the horses to that barn. We have 280 acres. I made arrangements to have them delivered and even signed a contract for them; however, I was eventually denied. My references checked out and then I get a hateful email from Tinia Creameans, d.b.a. Lucas Farm And Rescue, stating that we were not suitable for the horses. Isn't that crazy? I've owned horses longer than she has been alive and rescue them frequently. Never do business with Petfinder OR LUCAS FARM AND RESCUE IN HUNTINGTON WV
My complaint with petfinder.com is I advertised a lost cat, paid the fees for the upgrades - only $12.00 but still - I started getting emails from various people that obviously didn't know English too well - one started out with telling me she has a friend she visited and the cat she rescued looked just like mine, and I should contact her. She gave me an email address. I wrote to this other woman, and she waited two days to respond. Meanwhile, I'm pulling my hair out. She then tells me that she is a tourist operator and had to take the "little one" with her to Cameroon (can you believe that crap) but that she had a plane ticket for her and would be home soon. In her email she mentions the dog, however, I advertised a lost cat. I've emailed petfinder several times, gave all the scammed email addresses to them, and they never responded. They are responsible for these scam artists - we shouldn't be the ones going after them.
cashier check scam
I recently placed an ad on petfinder.com. I was immediately contacted by email in regards to someone adopting my pets. I noticed right away that a couple of the emails entailed the same format, just different names and shipping addresses. This person corresponded with me every day but never answered any of my questions as far as where the pets were going, why they wanted them, no personal info whatsoever. This person also went as far as to send me a $2,000 cashier's check from a credit union in Texas. Kinda funny since the shipping address on the UPS label came from an address in Pennsylvania. I called information with the name and address on the shipping label, no record of this person at that address or the surrounding area. I also called UPS and found out that whoever sent the money left absolutely NO information whatsoever. This is by far the worst scam I have seen. I am ripping up the check and reporting this to petfinder at once.
PetFinder.com is a HOAX! They should be held accountable for what happens on their website. I too was sent a check for a large amount. The envelope was from TX, but the check came from a Biotech company in Washington DC. I have reported this as mail and internet fraud to the FBI and have notified PETA of PetFinder's actions and lack thereof. I also plan to contact my local radio and television stations to let as many people know as possible that is fraud can not, and will not, be tolerated.
In these current economic times, how many people are like myself- losing homes and jobs and unable to care for their pets and just want to find them a good home? It is not about the money- it is about the well being of the animals. I am just trying to help a friend in need find a good home for her 2 cats and this is what I get? These sick people need to be held responsible! Please help me in my fight by sending any comments, suggestions, or similar stories to my email address. I know I am not alone in my anger and outrage that in this country the animals are the ones we seem to hold in the least regard.
Thank you.
scams
As soon as I placed a classified ad to try to find a home for a dog that was dumped at our farm, I was inundated with the "I'll send you a cashier check, you send me the change" scam" And I'm talking about 20 e-mails a day. If the freecycle sites can keep these idiots from contacting us, why can't petfinder? Lots of our local freecycles are no longer allowing the listing of pets, so that really limits being able to find homes for strays and rescues. This really ticks me off.
I haven’t received one response when I showed interest in a dog. This website is a total waste of time. Preying on peoples emotions is standard here. If you find a pup you’d like, it’s doubtful if you will receive any kind of response. I gave up. They clearly don’t manage the listings..People get hurt.
Everytime I go to login it tells me the password is wrong, they email a link to reset it and that tells me its expired, send another and then I get an email saying its locked!
How do I get this resolved?
And now this page says my complaint is too brief and doesn't warrant any attention so it probably won't be resolved - this is ridiculous
Have not received a response from this agency yet, I believe it is a scam to get personal information. There is no way to contact anyone.
Yes! 13 pages of personal info! Vet records, pictures of previous pets, invoices. Then they drop you. Don’t answer you leave you hanging. Don’t believe the ‘Oh, you’re perfect for this dog’ routine. It’s a scam. A huge giant, heart jerking, leave you hanging knife in the back.
I got one inquiry that said nothing about money. It seemed genuine. The res seemed ... wrong. It made me angry because I need to find a home for this rabbit. I have no other place to send him. But what do these people WANT with our pets?
I checked out Petfinder.com and the site has a warning right before you move on to create your ad. Anyone who uses a computer and has ever used any classifieds system online should already know about such scams. I have used all the so-called safe classifieds and still get the same emails. Common sense people, its the internet, its vast and anyone with access can email anyone who puts their information out there.
I agree with you 100%. Petfinder has been receiving complaints about this problem for years, but thus far does nothing. Many sites like Freecycle issue strong warnings about Nigerian scams for their advertisers. Petfinder makes the deliberate choice not to act. Shameful.
