The Pep Boys Maintenance service

I took my car to Pep boys on Dec 12th because my brakes were scrubbing i told the cashier i think it was my sway brakes . But then he told me if i was not sure i should pay $39.95 so he can tell me exactly what's wrong . He called me back and told me that it was in fact my sway brakes when i picked up my car i had to go out of town when i came back and got into my car it was doing the same thing i took it back on Dec 20 th they would not provide me any service. I payed them $420.00 that's to much money to give away i 'm a disable person and don't have money like that they treated me like [censored] . Just because i a women

The Pep Boys Diesel additive and windshield washer fluid wrong prices posted @lindenhurst store

Purchased both SP Anti gel and windshield washer fluid. I took the Diesel additive from shelf with the price marked on shelf as $24.99 and the washer fluid had a sign on the stack aprox 3 ft high for 4.99. when she rang me up really didn't chk receipt till I got home. Diesel additive rang up $29.99 washer fluid was 7.99. way too much, thought it might have been a mistake. Went back two days later to return them or get a price adjustment and the girl at the counter said that is what they come up. I showed her the sticker on shelf that the 20 something jugs on top of it said 24.99. She says " Oh thats a mistake! " Then peels off the sticker. I said "Wait hold on a minute, your not going to match that price. She Said " NO It's in the system for 29.99 there's nothing I can do! " I said thats bull I want to speak with a manager. She said " I am the manager! " I told her I was going to call consumer affairs . She said "Go ahead I really don't care. what a scam their running at that Lindenhurst NY store on Sunrise Hwy. Never shopping there again. And the signs on top of the stack of washer fluid were swap around back to what I'm sue the proper washer fluid . There were 3 different kinds in large displays guess they pocket the over rings and split it up for lunch or dinnerShould be investigate

The Pep Boys Product was battery service/ someone broke my remote key pod!

I am a customer with Pep Boys for over 20 years, on November 11, 2022, I needed new battery terminals for my vehicle. Give your customer service Rep. my remote key pod, at this time I was sign in for service. after a couple of minutes, the Rep. came to me with a broking key remote. She said that they would take care of the problem and replace the key. I wanted to talk to the manager he walks by me I stopped him he said that he would come back to speak to me. He never did he went missing! That's good PR! waited for 2 hours for the part than the service Rep. said it was the wrong part! WOW! They said that they would make contact the next day! still waiting for the call. All I want is my key remote replace. Your Service Manager Teddy Laveaux needs to be replaced or retrain. They had the nerve to charge me $30 to clean my battery terminals.

The Pep Boys Lost 2 my used/new front tires after bought/installed whole set tire with pepboys

I was just at the pepboys store 0061 today for changing 4 new tires. I told the manager 2-3 times that I only need to 2 tires but since Pepboys have the promotion buy 2 get 2 free. So I asked the manager please keep my 2 front tires (almost brand new) in the trunk for me because I want to keep for spare. The manager did put that note in the paper. But after done I paid the bill and I didn't see my used/good tires in my trunk so I came back and ask the manager if he forgot. After letting me wait for another 15min he came back and said someone from the disposal took it and he tried to call but the man didn't pick up the phone. I don't' understand why my 2 tires could be disappeared within 15-20min and the manager name Joseph Galindez was so rude and didn't give any explanation or any resolution. I ask him for a small discount or compensation for those 2 tires I recently bought last year and ask him to keep in the trunk for me. He didn't want to listen at all and keep telling me to contact the corporate for compensation. He was such unprofessional and irresponsible manager. I never want to come back to that store anymore. I hope someone from corporate could help me to resolve this issue and give me some compensation for my time and my used/good 2 tires. Thank you

Desired outcome: At least give me some $50-$100 discount or compensation for those 2 tires he lost since i paid more than $200 those 2 tires last year.

The Pep Boys I would like at least my labor portion of the bill refunded.

The following complaint (after this note) went to Pep Boys on November 1st. Since then, I've sent and received four emails from Pep Boys Field Leadership telling me they would reach out, but never did. You will see both lines of communication here.

1. Original email to Pep Boys

ello, I am writing about my experiences at Pep Boys at 1201 Broad Street.

On 10/5/22, I received a diagnosis at Schaeffer's auto of needing new shocks and struts. I was off work that day so was able to go in, but the next opportunity I had to fix it was on the weekend. I am a teacher so cannot take off for personal business throughout the year. Schaeffer's indicated to me that since my car was a Fiat 500 Abarth, the parts would have to be special ordered.

Due to my schedule, I could only have work done on the weekends. I was very pleased that Pep Boys was open. I made an appointment for 10/15, and called them on 10/12 to let them know I was told the parts would need to be special ordered. The person I spoke with said "they don't do that" and "it won't be a problem they'll be able to get the parts same day".

On 10/15, I called around 11 to inquire about my car and they said they needed to special order the parts and they "probably" wouldn't be in till Monday. I told them I needed my car back and they said they strongly recommended I leave it there for repair. This was not an option for me, so I took it and made a new appointment for 10/22.

When I called at 3pm on 10/22, they said they had meant to call me but got wrapped up in something else. They said they ordered the wrong parts, and the right parts wouldn't be in till Monday. Again, I picked up my car and made another appointment for 10/29. By this time, I had received my PA registration and added an inspection to my service request.

I called on 10/29, and they said my car wouldn't be ready till Monday. I told them I needed it done by Sunday evening for work on Monday, and they said they would do it. I again asked about inspection, and they said it would be done.

When I picked up my car on 10/30, inspection was not done. I took a half sick day on 10/31 and had made an inspection appointment for 1pm. Also at this time there was a female employee behind the counter talking loudly about kids at her school jumping each other and beating each other up. She was also vaping and playing videos on her phone. This is unprofessional service.

When I got to Pep Boys on 10/31 at 1pm, they said they only do 10 inspections a day and they were all booked up for the day. I said I made an appointment and they said it doesn't matter. I waited for the manager, who got me in for the inspection after I complained.

While I appreciate the manager doing that, this was all unnecessary. Pep Boys should have special-ordered, ensured their order was correct, and followed my inspection request. Additionally, if an appointment is made, it should be honored without having to complain to the manager. Further, there is clearly a new employee working at this location who was never properly trained, so he is training as he goes by putting the manager on Facetime and having him look at the screen. This is not helpful for anyone, especially the employee. I will never recommend or visit this or another Pep Boys again. Your corporate office should address the breakdowns at this location.

I paid $1751 for this repair after visiting four times, and I would like my labor to be refunded for all of this stress. Any other repair shop would not have had this many issues for one customer. I can't imagine how many other customers have issues here.

The Pep Boys Customer service (rude manager)

I have spent thousands of dollars on tires and mechanical repairs at Pepboys. I've spent close to two thousand dollars for tires on my SUV, a thousand for truck tires, and thousands for 3 cars over the years and have been a repeat customer. I normally go to the Pepboys on Airport and General Bullard in Mobile, AL and the customer service has been great, with only one complaint out of all of the many times I've had service there, but I live closer to Pepboys 7756 Airport/Schillinger Rd. Mobile, AL 36608. I try not to go there because out of the few times I've been there the mangers or service technicians were EXTREMELY rude! My husband had a repair a couple of months ago and was treated very RUDELY, he told me that he would NEVER go there again, however this morning my tire pressure sensor light came on and I was near that Pepboys, my gut told me not to stop but if I had a flat I did not want to get stuck on the side of the road. I pulled in and pulled up to the bay that said tires, I did not get out because it was really cold outside and I saw a service technician, so another person pulled up close to where he was, he looked at me and decided to help the customer closer to him. He began putting air in her tires as I waited for him to finish, the manager came out and looked at another car that was parked, he saw me and came over to my car. He said can I help you as if he was AGITATED because I was there, he began to tell me that I can't just pull up and expect a technician to come out, and that I was blocking the bay (this is a practice that I have done and others have done for years if you are just getting air in your tires and no one was trying to get into any bays because it was early and that had not started working on the cars yet!) you have to come inside first, I told him the lady just pulled up and the technician went to her car and started putting air in her tires, he told me that the lady came inside first! I said she did NOT she just pulled up, he looked at me sarcastically and I said well do you want me to park and come inside! He said no, just pull up to the other bay where the air is and when the technician finishes with the other customer, he will see you. The technician was very nice but that manager was so RUDE!, All he had to say was we don't allow customers to pull up for service, we would rather you come inside, but instead he was NASTY and RUDE to me. What has happened to customer service? I need some tires now and two of my kids do too but I will not go back to PepBoys and will be taking my business elsewhere!

Desired outcome: I think he needs to be removed and provided some customer service training, or word will get out about how he treats customers and you will lose business at that location.

The Pep Boys Defective Tire

I bought 4 Cooper tires from the pep boys in Berlin Connecticut in May this year. One tire started losing air on 11/15. Got an appointment to look at the tire on Friday 11/18. Was told over the phone before getting the appointment the loss of air in the tire has to be a puncture. After waiting for 1- and 1/2-hour, Pep boys employee said there was nothing wrong with tire. He put 50 pounds of air and no leaks noted - the tire requires only 33 pounds. Woke up this morning and the tire is completely flat. Losing time and money going back and forth to this store.

Desired outcome: replace the defective tire.

The Pep Boys Service work

Took the car in for service. New tires, replacing the TPMS sensors in all tires and check brakes. Paid for all but still had TPMS error on dash. Took it back and said they replaced 4 and needed new appt. Booked that for the next week and took it back in. Said that tire had too much air in it but sensor fine. Still showing error to this day. The Pep Boys Very poor customer service/very rude

I brought my van in for the past two days to store number 0126 and each time I visit this location, service manager, Aaron Thierstein, was very rude and unpleasant to be around. The first day, 11/03/22, I had an appointment at 9 AM, but I had to reschedule because it was only one mechanic, and when I said hello and goodbye to him he ignored me. Worker named Devone was very nice and polite, very good customer service. The second day, 11/04/22, my new appointment was at 8:30 AM, and this time I was serviced by the manager Aaron whom was again was very rude and unpleasant. Didn’t even say good morning. First thing he said was, how can I help you rudely. Once he came back with the diagnostic of the car, he gave me an attitude once I told him I was not going to get tires today, I only wanted a diagnostic for my brakes and pricing of tires. He rolled his eyes, shook his head, and started pounding really hard on the keyboard, as if he was mad that I didn’t buy the tires as if I wasted his time, I originally came in for the knocking noise when I press the brakes, not for tires. Then he proceeds to keep giving me an attitude and asked me why didn’t I take it to my original Mobile mechanic instead of bringing it to Pep Boys. Like why does that matter . He made me feel very uncomfortable and not wanting to come back to this location after he was done he didn’t even say goodbye have a good day. He just gave me my papers and walked away if he doesn’t wanna work in customer service then he shouldn’t and I was very surprised he was a manager because he was very rude. I would not recommend anyone to come to this location because of him.

Desired outcome: I really don’t believe he should be a manager, he either needs to get demoted and maybe you should promote Devone F. instead of Aaron. He was very rude.

The Pep Boys Oil change gone wrong

On 7/27/20022, I went to Pep Boys on Montclair Rd in Birmingham, Al. What I thought was the biggest issue wasn't, I had to wait 2 hours for the correct filter to be delivered for my schedules oil change on my 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. Sometime later, Derek comes to let me know that the air filter box was broken during their multipoint inspection. He gives me a signed sticky note (attached below) stating that they would replace it for free. Well, I have called for the last 3 months with no resolution.

Desired outcome: Their (Shane and Derek) complaint is that Volkswagen is hard to get in touch with. I told them that I didn't care if it came from Amazon, Ebay or Volkswagen, I just want the air box that they broke replaced.

The Pep Boys Tire Rotation claimed to have been done but was not, and coupon not honored

This deception occurred 4 times at Pepboys at Stelton Rd, Piscataway in the past 3 years. Tire rotation is provided free on every oil change. But to ensure that the tires got rotated, I marked the tires with chalk lines so I know which tires are in the front and which are in the back. This deception happened again today. Before I picked up the car, I asked the pepboys person who called me if rotation was done and he said yes. When I got to the store itself, the first thing I asked if rotation was done and I was told yes. Then I said it was not rotated and he asked me how do I know, that's when I told him of the chalk lines. In all of these cases, I got no apologies. Worse, the guy rudely told me that he does not want to hear any of my bs. The tire thread of back and front are almost the same so there is no reason why the rotation could not be made.

For today's oil change, I have two more complaints. I have a $20 pepboys coupon for the type of oil change I got. But when the cashier scanned it, the computer did not recognize it. The coupon expires Oct 31, 2022. I just lost $20. The last complaint is that the mechanic failed to lock the engine air filter box. It's a good thing that I opened the hood and the filter box was wide opened.

Desired outcome: I still want the $20 coupon to be accepted.

The Pep Boys vehicle repair

I called customer service multiple times. I was told i would get a call back several times and it never happened. I took my car in for a brake issue and was told it was CV Axle. Took my car to Pep Boys on Druid Hills on 10/1. I was told the vehicle would be ready the upcoming Monday 10/4. Pep Boys Service Manager Johnathon lied to me multiple times about when my vehicle would be ready for pick up. My vehicle was finally ready for pick up yesterday 10/13! They had my vehicle for 2 weeks! almost $1200 in repairs just to turn out of Pep BOYS lot and notice that not only did they not properly fix my vehicle but also did not change my oil. My vehicle is not aligned at all. The steering wheel is completely crooked when driving straight and the vehicle is not properly aligned because it's pulling. I called them immediately about the issue and they said to bring it in this morning in which i did. I was told it would be 2 hours. Its been 8 hours and no one even followed up with me. I had to call multiple times just to be told the mechanic messed up my control arm and that i have to leave my car overnight again! what kind of business is this? I'm very upset and concerned. I really need to speak with senior management. my number is [protected]

The Pep Boys HID bulb and lighting balsa replacement

On 10/11/22 I took a bulb from autozone to be replaced at the quakertown pa pepboys. They installed it and Gilbert called me to tell me it was the lighting balas that had went. So I went and picked a new one up from autozone. Gilbert then called me again to tell me the issue was fixed the light was working and to come get it. That same night I went to leave my house turned on my headlights and it wasn’t working. I never witnessed it work. I brought it back today 10//12/22 and was told that I need a whole new headlight. I spent 569 dollars to get it fixed.

Desired outcome: I want my money returned. Nothing changed from one day to the next. They should have never installed those parts if ii needed a new head light the entire time.

The Pep Boys Auto parts store.

Pep Boys Auto Washington St Sarasota. Looking to be reimbursed for my expenses $300 for car rental, $100 for towing my car to a different dealer to correct the problem. The problem was a simple one change the battery. After changing the battery Pep Boys came out and said there was another problem but the car didn’t start and it was the starter. they’d have to order that part and it was back ordered and would take weeks if not months to get. After five days, I had it towed to a different dealer where they found that Pep Boys had not reattached a battery cable. It took Sunset Auto minutes to fix the problem. I then drove back to Pep Boys to tell them that they had not attached the battery cable, not only did they not take responsibility for that after five days. It started blaming others including Sunset Auto saying they had stage the photo. I asked him if they were going to take responsibility and reimburse me for the expenses he laughed and said no, I didn’t ask for his district managers name and number and he said we don’t give that information out. I’d like to be reimbursed for those unnecessary expenses.

Desired outcome: I’d like to be reimbursed the $400 for those expenses.

The Pep Boys This is a complaint regarding unauthorized service, over charge for service and unprofessionalism.

The date was approximately September 2, 2020 time was around 4:30-5:00pm.

Brought my car in to have them assess problem. The next day I phoned PEP BOYS/Flamingo Rd./Jones Las Vegas, NV. to get quote to repair a $50 part and the Service Manager had a bad attitude cursed me out and said "Don't [censored] with this Service Manager". He insisted that my daughter gave him authorization to repair vehicle when clearly he said he had authorization and that he had proof of a recorded conversation giving him approval which at this time he said car was already repaired and that if I didn't pay, he wasn't releasing the car. Not giving me a chance to shop for cheaper pricing.

He quoted me a price that was rediculously too high. The part wasn't more than $50 and probably didn't take more than an hour to replace an AC HOSE HOUSING charged me $1,600. so the car had been stored there for three weeks due to not having the money. He said he wasn't giving me no discount and hung up the phone. I mentioned that I would see him in court for taking advantage of a female. I hope to not have to go to court and settle outside of court. Waiting to hear your response.

The Pep Boys Lies about services adds fraud charges on receipt

on September 7th

2022 I took my car my 2001 Nissan Frontier

in to Pep Boys do to a fact that I'm the break was getting hard to push down

they give the Diagnostics and they told me that the issue was the master cylinder

do you need a new battery so they charged me for both

on

September 9th I went and I picked up the truck they said that I had fixed everything on it

1,160.00

on the same date that evening the truck All In Motion I was driving down the street stalled on me and

turned off.

I had it towed to my house for which I paid $80 and then

Pep Boys let them know of the situation

so then I took it back on same date 09/09/20 they performed diagnostics and stated it was the alternator that was killing the battery,attempted to sell me an alternator for $560.00,I told them I would purchase one myself ,they had me make an appointment for Tuesday at 8am,,, I purchased alternator $211.76 O'Reilly's,on 09/13/22 I dropped off my truck . THEY COMPLETED THE WORK.

PICKED UP TRUCK ON 09/14/22 ,THEN THAT SAME NIGHT MIDNIGHT THE TRUCK WHILE DRIVING COMPLETELY TURNED OFF STALLED,I PHONED CSR THEY HAD IT TOWED TO FACILITY 27AVE VAN BUREN. I SPOKE TO THEM THE FOLLOWING DAY They

told me it was a faulty battery that that happens sometimes and for me to come and pick up the truck

picked up a

09-15-22 , paid. $224.47

that same evening

the truck stalled on me while I was driving

the battery was drained.

this is after having replace alternator paid for the

master cylinder this is the second brand new battery that they put in according to them

I had to call and get it towed back to the shop at Pep Boys.

I called CSR and the claim # 834789.

MANAGER STATED THEY WERE GONNA HAVE IT TOWED TO SHOP IN GOODYEAR TO FOR ELECTRICAL SPECIALIST TO SEE IT THEY NEVER TOLD ME THAT THE SPECIALIST WASNT GONNA SEE IT TILL TUESDAY 09/20/22.

The Pep Boys Pep boys service,damaged car gas line

They damaged the gas line while servicing the car, couldn't fix it ,took the car apart after keeping it 2 weeks,sent it to Honda dealer in a terrible condition that could not be worked on. I had to tow it back to Pep Boys to put it back together and then tow again to Honda. This ordeal is for over 3 weeks now and still problem not solved. I had to use rental cars and Uber, I have all receipts of charges. They had a terrible attitude, incompetence, unprofessionalism and careless. This happened in the 4800 Kirkwood highway Wilmington DE 19808 location where I was a customer for many years. Manager in charge Sean Norris.

Desired outcome: I need reimbursement for my rental cars and Uber,as well as new repair charges for car in Honda dealership.All receipts on hand.
