Orkin Termite bond

Buyer BEWARE! I have a client who's had their termite bond with Orkin for almost 30 years. In the process of selling the house, it turns out there is some "old" termite damage and I can't get anyone to respond to me about fixing the $2,500 worth of damage so the he can move forward with the sale of the house. They're saying this damage is pre-existing but can't seem to provide anything showing that to be the case. I don't feel this is ethical business practice for them to NOT cover damage that they are responsible for. I would recommend you look elsewhere for a termite bond.

Desired outcome: They should fix the $2,500 worth of damage to the house caused by termites.

Orkin Crawl space encapsulation

April 6-7, 2023

In retrospect Rep was interested in only pushing a crawl space encapsulation and made promises not kept. He gave me no time to consider all the information he doled out in a very short period of time. His goal was to get my signature on the contract right then and there. I unfortunately did sign because of the excellent Orkin branch experience I had in S.W. Va. for 22+ years. I trusted Orkin.Actual job rather slap dash and left much to be desired. A 2 page email to Orkin owner ignored — to date.. Office 440 needs Corporate review. They are not up to the usual Orkin standard! Encapsulation Update (4/30/23). When the work was being done over a period of a day and a half I asked several times if the crawl space dehumidifier was working. All they said was they were there to do the encapsulation. They treated this as a silly question. The Rep who pushed the encapsulation had said if I had any questions to call him. Unfortunately he was unresponsive to the encapsulation crew’s calls. If they really made them. Prior to the encapsulation a check revealed ground water present in many areas in spite of a plastic sheet already on the ground, above the water.

A recheck of the crawl space several days after they left revealed no ground water present. Everything looked good. A check two weeks post encapsulation revealed recurrence of water pools under the plastic ground cover (part of the encapsulation) had recurred in areas generally around the dehumidifier. Air in space also quite humid.In retrospect dehumidifier most likely not working prior to Orkin’s arrival for the encapsulation. A critical component to their “solution”, the encapsulation, should have been addressed in terms of whether dehumidifier/ sump pump were indeed working. Instead, this was ignored by Orkin in spite of my questions. The sealing of eight outside vents, which were to reduce the added load on the dehumidifier, was incomplete with very obvious sunlight in three of eight vents. I feel like I bought a cow (encapsulation) and then learned the stomachs (dehumidifier and sump pump) were not included.

I have lost any confidence in the Orkin branch 440, owned by a individual. The Rep from there assured me the crawl space problem would be resolved by the encapsulation. (Otherwise why do it?) This is not what happened! I now will have to get a reputable contractor to take care of this new problem. I am 82 years old and disabled. I didn’t need these additional problems in a house I had recently ought. Warning. Don’t get hustled into making any decision by Orkin. Hold off and think about what you’ve been told. Signing on the dotted line should be resisted in spite of the pressure from Orkin and you may well regret signing on the spur of the moment! Plus get any promises made in writing!

Quality

(Update May 12, 2023). Had contractor out to evaluate status of dehumidifier and sump pump. Dehumidifier not working as suspected. Contractor not impressed with quality of Orkin encapsulation of crawl space. He will correct deficiencies. I have twice held out my hand to Orkin branch owner to try and a resolve above issues. No meaningful response from him. I am not happy with their work and the Orkin motto is they are not happy unless customer is happy. When customers post 4 or 5 star reviews, the owner ‘s response is overwhelming. “Orkin appreciates when our customers take time to leave a note about us!” That should be amended to a positive response is appreciated.

The sign of a good administrator is how they handle the problems that occur, not just their compliments when everything goes well. Sad the lack of a response when I’ve tried to present my side twice and am, as yet, ignored. If no resolution occurs, there are additional steps that can be taken! And I shall. I have the time!

Desired outcome: Let branch 440 owner know issues and resolve them. I spent almost $8,000 for this encapsulation. Send him this summary. Let’s get going.

Orkin Orkin home inspection for sale of properties

The representative of your company I believe his name is Steve who came out to do a home inspection for the sale of my property, this order came from the buyer not myself, the seller. This guy went on to degrade me and tell me that I was basically the scum of the earth for not paying his invoice. I asked him to produce an invoice which he never did all he did was continue to insult me. Seems like this is not the kind of guy that you want representing your company. I expect to hear back from somebody because I'm not done with this [censored] if this has to be escalated to another level let's do that!

Desired outcome: This guy should not be going out to houses and then threatening and degrading the people who aren't responsible for the bill. Either he gets written up or gets fired but I want to know which one!

Orkin Quotes

I was given a quote by phone twice the first time I did not get a chance to complete service but on the second time I decided to go through it when the services came to my home there was a 75 dollar hidden charge that I was not aware of the tech reached out to the supervisor who appeared to be upset because he called when I told her this was a charge not explained to me she suggested to listen back to the recorded conversation I asked her to please do so and get back to me because I needed the services she basically told me that’s the charge no changing but that’s not what I was quoted still waiting for her to return my call no answer from this office even with the better business no one will answer called another office to get in touch with the Atl office they advised that office that they are aware and will get back to me that day still to no avail 2 weeks later because I know what the recording revealed I was not quoted those charges all I’m asking is for the 130 I was quoted simple

Orkin Commercial

I was told by the person that came to replace the sticky traps that their was no way to get rid of the spiders with the plan I purchased (as if that was my fault) and said for $500 and something more they could do something else. I assure you when I paid over $1000 last july they did not say, are you sure you want this, its not going to do anything...

I tried to call and instead of getting a call back from the local manager I got a check in the mail for 75.14.

Sell people actual plans that will do the job that they ask for

Desired outcome: They were very unprofessional and always acted like it was the fault of the sales person.no one could do anything unless I bought more services, on top of the ones that I was told several times by the techs do not work.

Orkin Driving

On 05/03/2023, I witnessed a drive in an Orkin truck speeding through a school zone in Keller, Texas off of North Tarrant Parkway and Whitley.

The speed limit through that stretch is 25 , the driver did not slow down or use signal light when they changed lanes in the school zone.

The license plate is: RHG-5930 and the truck # is:23166.

Might care about pests, but not kids.

Desired outcome: Be reminded that driver needs to slow down and watch for kids.

Orkin Termite control

I contacted orkin, after looking at what was available in my area to eradicate termites. The sales person was very nice and although Orkin was more expensive than most, I felt they would be best to take care of the problem and for follow up. To my surprise everything about Orkin was not what was presented. They didn’t come out when they were supposed to except The initial visit by the sales person, who also put in a box to kill the termites that was to be taken out by Orkin after a check in 3 months. I called numerous times to no avail, though they promised to send someone out they never did. In addition, I was in touch with the sales person who was always helpful said he could come out, but it was only on certain days and would not work on those days for me. The last text I had with him regarding my dissatisfaction. He told me he was In a different area, but he was in good faith come out. I asked him for a supervisors name, and how I could get in touch with corporate regarding my concerns. He did not get back in touch with me.

I feel that Orkin failed me, misled me about what I was paying for, and never followed up, even after repeated calls to management and the main office.

Desired outcome: At the very least, I would like someone to come out to take care of the problem to keep the agreement, and I would like a partial refund

Orkin Ants

I had ants in my kitchen in March, 2023 and still have them now April 3, 2023.

I paid for your service to get rid of them; but it didn't work. On the phone, prior to 3-6-23 speaking with your phone representative, I was informed that the price was approx. $300 for 2 or more applications in one month to get rid of ants. On 3-6-23 the serviceman arrived to do the 1st application. After he came into my kitchen, I couldn't utter one word to him about the services because he kept telling me to shut-up; saying "SHUSH" in a very loud tone when I opened my mouth. So, he did all the talking and I couldn't speak at all due to how rude he was being towards me. He told me that I agreed to pay $820 for his service for that day. I did not agree to that and told him to leave. That is when he said he'd accept $220 for a treatment. I wanted to get rid of the ants and I wanted him to leave, because I thought he was a criminal and this was his first job out of prision, due to his bad behavior towards me. I paid the $220. He put a little sticky gel (like one tablespoon) next to an electric light switch where I indicated that the ants were coming in from and one drop on the kitchen countertop. I was upset when I saw him spred my draperies near the bottom with some kind of liquid, but I didn't say anything. He sprayed around some areas of the baseboard; went outside and spread some granules around and some liquid spray. I never had such a rude serviceperson come to my house, and never want that man to come here ever again. Todays date is 4-3-23 and I still have ants roaming the kitchen. No one has called me from Orkin to follow-up. I feel like I lost $200, by calling your service for help. Ants are roaming my kitchen, at this moment. I'm very disappointed by your service.

Desired outcome: To get rid of the ants. And do not send the same man back here that arrived on 3-6-23.

Orkin Flea treatment

I first called your company last year I think around April for your flea treatment I paid the fee that was due at time of First service Which they did First service no problems. Then when it was time for the next application the Orkin guy came out and said he wasn’t going to spray because my house was dirty and told me what I had to clean before he comes back..So now the 3 rd time the guy comes out and says he cannot spray because I have too many animals… By this time I’m getting really upset I am paying for a service that the guy refuses to give me… So I called and tried to complain to the district manager and he was so rude to me I have never experienced such disrespect from a company in my life…. I told him I no longer want his services and to not schedule me again, then a couple months later I get a bill in the mail from Orkin it says I owe 200 something dollars for services I received and never paid for wow was I livid… I called the customer service people and they told me that the guy that came out to the house was putting in his little table that he was doing an application every time he was there and that was an absolute lie… Still too this day they are still calling me non stop and sending me bills no one will even listen I cannot believe a company as big as Orkin would treat there customers in this way

Desired outcome: I originally wanted just to have the services I wanted done to be done but at this point I think I deserve a refund because the application they did the original one that customers get was not done right my animals still have fleas

Orkin Refusing to cancelling contract when requested

I have been trying to cancel my contract since with Orkin since July of 2022. No matter how many people I call to cancel, Orkin ignored my requests. After some very unpleasant conversations with different people calling from all different cities around my area, in November, someone asked to come and service my house. Mind you, I didn't receive service all this time. When I refused because that would provide another excuse to continue with the contract, the service man says that they need to do a last check-up to cancel the contract. So I relent, he comes, inspect, and I pay him the last check (marked "in full and final payment" and "cancel contract" on the back. However, Orkin continues to bill me. When I complaint, they give me the excuse that I need to cancel 30 days in advance, to which I stated that I've been cancelling since July. After Orkin billed me 6 months worth of bills, they credit for 3 months, but insist that I still owe $82.13 (3 month worth). I spoke to a lady who called me and after listening to my long story, she said that she will take care of the bill, but once again, Orkin ignored that anyone contacted me that and insisted that I still owe this money, for which you didn't provide any service. Now, on March 13, 2023, they send me to collections for bills unpaid.

Orkin Monthly inspection

The service was scheduled at my home on Saturday, January 14th. This is a monthly scheduled service. The technician emailed he was on his way. When he arrived, he emailed he had arrived. I watched him from my window waiting for him to get out of his truck and come to the door. The technician never left his truck. I opened my garage door to show someone was home. The technician still did not get out of his truck. A few minutes later, the technician left. I received an email the service was completed. The technician's name was Jesus Gonzalez. I immediately called to tell the customer service what had happened and to get him back to complete the service. Long story short, after 3 calls I was told the technician could not come back to do the service he should have done in the first place. I have left messages for the manager to call me. I have still not received a call from the manager. I tried again this morning to reach a manager who is still unavailable. If you want service, I recommend not using Orkin and look at other companies.

Orkin Phone call

When you are going to come spray my house. i would like to know a head of time that you will be at my house. i do not like to have someone in my house when i am sleeping. i would like to have a phone call a head of time and a time. Not just show up out of the blue like you all do all the time. Be respectful and polite. i was not happy to find a stranger in my house when i woke up.

Orkin Terrible service

We have had terrible red hornet issues at our home. I search around to find the best service that could help me. After much research I decided to go with Orkin. I really liked the fact that they advertise if you see pest in between service we will be at your doorstep because I knew this hornet issue wasn’t going to be easy. They were really quick at taking my initial payment of $341 and had someone out within two weeks. After two weeks I did see a decrease in our pest situation. However, the hornets decided to make a nest elsewhere on the outside of our home. They made it between the roof and the wood on the second story of our home. I called to get them out sooner than the next scheduled appointment, but it was not “right at our door step” it took weeks to get them back out. They would just spray the chemical and nothing else. The hornet nest was getting bigger. We couldn’t enjoy our yard. The front desk people acted like I was a bother each time I would call. After multiple calls the manager did come out to assess the situation and tried to use tempo powder from the ground height. He said he didn’t have the right tools for a second story, nor a second person to get a ladder out. The nest was never taken care of. I was told they may be in the attic. Therefore, I climbed in the attic to look and no nest there. At this point the manger wouldn’t even return my calls. I felt like I was just a bother to them. I paid for this service and just want to protect my kids from getting stung and be able to enjoy my back yard. Fast forward to 6 months later and I still have the same hornets nest. I am so disappointed in this service and would not recommend Orkin to anyone. I am out of a lot of money and still have the same hornets as before the service began. I actually believe I deserve a refund because they did absolutely nothing but take my money.

Orkin Springtails

Orkin sprayed for fleas without investigation... The bugs never went away... I had a second opinion from Fox which, they did lab work before treatment... Here I don't have feas, I have springtails... Sad orkin takes money from a 71 year old woman for treatment on fleas which were actually springtails ... I actually replaced my sofa and rugs cause, I thought I had fleas.. Orkin never did no research and in the end, I called again the supervisor came out and told me, I was bug free... But, I continued to have problems till I called for a second opinion from Fox

Do not use Orkin, they just take your money and do not solve or investigate the real problem...

Orkin Pest Control Service

I have been a loyal customer with Orkin. I have termite control, I have full rodent

exclusion, I have had the Orkin Therm attic restoration done and I have Pest Control. Everything was wonderful when Shannon Stratton was my representative.

Now that you lost her, my service has gone in the toilet! I am about ready to fire you. I will be sure to let everyone I know that Orkin ignores customers and provides terrible service and the office people are rude. I am very disappointed and would appreciate this situation to be rectified asap. The last person I spoke to was nice, but prior to that no-one was nice.

My biggest problem is the pest control technicians either show when I'm not home or cancel when I am home. I try to make my appointments so I can let them in because I am still having bugs in my house. Water bugs, black ants, moths and spiders. I am set up for every other month service and this problem has been going on for way too long.

I used to be able to call Shannon Stratton and she handled the appointment issue for me, but she is no longer with Orkin.

Desired outcome: I want PEST CONTROL to keep appointments or confirm with me days in advance if they can not. Waiting to cancel at the time of is unprofessional and wastes my time. [protected] is my cell phone, I am easy to reach. Lisa Marie Mosely

Orkin Hornet nest removal

I called about a hornet nest on the side of my house. I was told they would spray it and remove the nest. When they came out the man only sprayed the nest once and then he was leaving. He told me they do not remove the nests anymore and I told him that I was told he would remove it. He said they do not do that anymore and he could not tell me who would remove it. He said it was up to me to get it done. I had to call another company who said there were still hornets in the nest when he came out - the babies were hatching and flying in and out of the nest. He took the nest down for me. Orkin did not do the job. They did not kill the hornets or take the nest down. Why would I pay them almost $400.00 for nothing. Terrible company. Should be out of business since they operate like this. Called a lawyer and he said I do not have to pay them. Had three days to cancel and I cancelled the transaction per their contract within one day. I cancelled the transaction with my bank.

Desired outcome: TO SEE THIS COMPANY GO OUT OF BUSINESS AND NOT CHARGE ME ANYTHING - WHICH THEY ARE NOT GETTING PAID ANYWAY

Orkin Termite scam

I was told I had termites in my garage. There was evidence of an old infestation, very old. I was told that meant there was active infestation. To prevent it from getting to my house (I have a detached garage) I signed on the dotted line. I now regret doing so. Two people (not professionals) can see any active termite infestation. After speaking to Orkin to get a refund, I was told the treatment was for prevention, not any termite activity. I was scammed. My initial call was for an ant problem which is being taken care of. I did not mention termites, they did. Perhaps talking to a lawyer might help. I feel I am not the first person this has happened to.

Orkin Orkin, NE Oklahoma / SE Kansas-

Have been a pre-paying client for several years with Orkin for Termite protection and treatment.

I have had to get constantly remind to Orkin several times to actually do its job, make inspections, service bait stations and take remedial actions.

During a recent inspection by an independent contractor, it was brough to light that the traps/bait stations and services are obsolete and have not been serviced by Orkin in some time. Inspection noted termite damage to walls / structure of inspected properties. Orkin is under contract and has failed to fulfill their obligation yet another time. This time four independent business parties are witness to it.

The four parties have agreed to sign contract to for sale of properties. Further new owning parties have been informed that Orkin is under active contact with and have failed their contractual duties. Passing on to owning parties to sue for damages as a result of Orkin's willful neglect to fulfill its legal obligations.

Desired outcome: Accountability for Orkin failing its contractual obligations to its customers.Also, best of luck to all business entities going after Orkin and its management for taking money and not acting in due diligence of services and obligations.

Orkin Service appointments

I keep getting the run around about getting a Saturday appointment. The last two times I did get a Saturday appointment the technician did not show up. When the time frame for the appointment was approaching, I called to see if he was still coming both times it was a no. What a waste of time. Then. I have to find someone to come to my house on a weekday for the appointment. I called this morning to get a Saturday appointment and the representative told me she didn't have any Saturday appointments for June and nothing for July. I can't believe that I think I am getting treated this way because I complained. I have had Orkin since November 2020. The service has declined drastically. Additionally, when I contacted Orkin, the representatives tell me that a manager will contact me. I have never been contacted by a manager.
