New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Customer Service

Could never log onto online account to view my usage so I'm paying through their automated 1-800 service line without actually seeing what I'm paying for. I have sat on hold for hours, without given the option to be called back. Who has time to sit on hold for 1+ hours? I have emailed twice with no response. I have tried resetting my email info to log on just to be told my email is incorrect however I'm receiving bill reminders from NYSEG to that email. I tried using my account number just to again be told my account number is invalid. But in the email they send me for my bill states the exact same account number? This makes zero sense, I'm baffled how different my bill is each month I want to see my usage and have access to view my bill online.

Desired outcome: Respond when someone continuously is trying to contact you. Reset something for me so I can log onto my account online.

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Bill/customer service

I also have had issues with rge. For a 9 months they estimated my bill with notification at all. No request to read it myself etc. Then I hit a 1400.00 bill. I tried calling about 10 times never got to speak with a billing rep to get some explication, only to make arrangements then got slammed w a 30.00 late charge. Never did get an explanation of any of this. Then dec they put me on a budget plan without me even requesting one.. Pre billed me 100.00 and refused to credit me when I finally figured out how to get off this budget billing but still had to pay and they said they would credit the next month.. Who has that kind of money. Our service was out like 5x that month. No credit for that

Desired outcome: Want an audit and some compensation for 9mint estimate and late charge

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] My electric bill

My electric bill is way to high. I hardly have lights on, I have a pellet stove to heat my small home and I understand that takes electric. It seems since October of 2022 my bill skyrocketed. I called NYSEG last week and was told I’m on a budget, I told her I did not want to be on the budget plan. She never changed my account, she spoke in circles, needless to say I got no where by calling NYSEG. Now they are threatening to turn me off on January 22, 2023. I have no income, I’m not well, I’m also supposed to be on an energy saving plan because I receive SNAP. Please Help, NYSEG is monopolizing electric at an extremely high price. It’s not fair.

Desired outcome: Lower my electric bill. Lower the cost to customers.

Nyseg did the same to me I told them from the start of my service I do not want to be on the budget billing. They put me on it anyway and was charging me high rates .I never got a bill it's been four months and I can never get them on the phone .they hang up when answered and never call back when requested.tgey are taking advantage of the states county H.e a.p program..stealing the money on an estimate an not refunding or crediting it back when next read is lower . My meter has been read once in four months..

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] My bill and meter reading

I received a bill for $780. I have never received a bill like this ever! The meter reader has not been to our house in 6 months. One because there was a bush in the way?! Ridiculous! I’m a woman who can see the meter from the bush. And the man who comes cannot look around the bush?! This is ridiculous.

Brandon (356143) could not help at all. No, recourse was given.

My bill Has always been under 200 dollars. This is ridiculous! How can this even be a practice of NYSEG? I will be posting a review of how bad this experience has been all over social media and neighbors and such. I will be sending a letter as well.

Desired outcome: Readjustments of my bill.

Same with me no meter read only once in four months.and I need a new meter cause this old one runs faster than my neighbors with only a tv on.

I haven't got a bill going on five months now my first bill when I moved in was 68 dlrs .now they tried budget billing me for over one hundred.without my permission. I'm sure they are trying to soak up the state/county h.e.a.p funding as fast as they get it leaving the customer still owing a high bill.i only have a small two room apartment with only myself.

My bill was cheaper when I lived previously in a whole house.

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Account billing

We moved in September from the Village of Cooperstown to Middlefield, NY. We have had an incredibly hard time getting NYSEG to straighten out the old and new accounts. After two months of calling NYSEG customer service, we finally got them to create a new account number for our new residence at 446 Ricetown Road. Unfortunately, even though we called in meter readings at least twice we have failed to get a billing statement. Our online account shows a zero-dollar balance and no bills even though we have now occupied the property for 4 months. We suspect but can't say for certain that meter readings are being charged to our old address at 78 Fair St. Cooperstown.

Any way you could straighten this out? It is holding up a solar project because we can't show proof of electric charges t our new home.

our Ricetown account number is [protected]

our old account number at 78 Fair Street was [protected]

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Billing

Hello,

Every time I submit a meter reading, the NYSEG system does not produce a bill until I call customer service and specifically ask for a bill to be created. The customer service representatives are very nice. But, they consistently state that the system has a problem and there are no plans to fix it. This has been for the last several years. So, their solution is for me to just get an estimated bill.

I don't want an estimated bill. I want to pay each month in full. Why can't that happen? Thank you for your attention to this question.

Kind regards,

Ken Lentini

Desired outcome: I would simply like to be able to submit my meter readings and have a bill generated. I would like a response by email to [protected]@protonmail.com. Thank you.

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] December 2022 electric bill over $1,700.00?

My December 2022 electric bill is bizarre. No way is it possible that >$1,700.00 A realistic bill. In May 2022 I received a bill for over $9,000.00 I complained and am still waiting for a resolution. All I am told is that its been referred to the back office.

I had an electrician from Camali Electric check my breaker box and he said its in good working condition, "no problem."

Desired outcome: Resolve my issue, refund the money overcharged.

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Impossible to get customer service on the phone

I have spent 3 whole days sitting on the phone to get these people on the phone. I sold a house, it took forever to change the account to my new address. Now I have 2 accounts for the same address where I moved and can't get anyone to help me, I finally got someone on the phone and they sent me to another department, then I waited 2 hours more, then got hung up on and started all over again, I am now on the phone trying to get them for 2 more hours this all started at 9am and still trying to get someone on the phone after 2 pm. This is a serious problem wish there was another electric Company in my area, this is so stressful!

Desired outcome: Answer the phone in a reasonable amount of time and teach your customer service to be able to help with simple requests!

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Customer Service

Hold times are atrocious 2 1/2 hrs is unacceptable. It does matter what time you call or even request a call back that is if you even get one. They say the hold time is about an hour... it would be awesome to get one in an hour. Meter reads are a bit hard at times so it is nice to take a picture and then call and read it to someone. I use to e-mail it in and for awhile it was being put in before the cut off date as a customer read...now it goes in several days after the cut off date as an estimated read. So you wait a few days and call in to have them look up the e-mail and correct it but AGAIN you have to wait over 2 hours for some one to get to you. Why don't you have a prompt for someone to help out with meter reads. The time frame to get to talk to someone is so so so so unacceptable. What is wrong with NYSEG?

Desired outcome: Maybe have a prompt for a human to take Meter Reads

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Gas

I called to set up services for gas and electricity, they turn on my electricity not my gas, so I’ve been on the phone with NYSEG customer service since 10/3/22 to have a technician come out to turn on my gas, each time I call and talk to a representative each gave me different information “ the system show my gas is on but electricity if off”, “ your meter is not showing in the system “, etc… I called out from work to wait for same day appointment my appointment windows was scheduled for 8:00am till midnight no one showed up, today again I called out from work waiting to have someone to come in to turn on my service appointment window time is 8-4, I even went out to gave the customer service rep the meter number. And I have told my account been reviewed and nothing that they can do but for me to wait, I lost two days of work I want the company to reimburse me for lost of my time stress and I have a sick child with asthma.

Desired outcome: A refund for my days of lost time at work.

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Calling NYSEG cutomer service

Right at this moment my phone shows I have been on hold 1 hour 27 minutes 7 seconds and counting. Haven't even finished writing this. The recording I'm listening to says they value their customers and will be with me shortly. Really? Shortly? Other companies have an option to enter your phone number for a call back so you don't have to sit around on hold praying the call doesn't get disconnected and you have to start all over again. 1 hour 28 minutes 37 seconds.

All I need to know is my account number. To do that I have to set up an online account but you can't do that unless you have your account number. It will not allow you to set up an account. A real Catch-22. Being on autopay, I don't know my account number.

Ironically, the power is going on and off out of the blue. Currently on hold 1 hour 34 minutes 29 seconds

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] I'd like for you to stop doing this to other people.

Nyseg is a horrible company. They shut off our power. Id understand since we didn't pay it but we never even got a SHUT OFF warning. They just showed up and turned it off. Now I wouldn't be as mad if they weren't making me, my children, and my pets wait 4 DAYS for them to turn it back on. IT DOESNT TAKE FOUR DAYS TO TURN OUR POWER BACK ON. It is ungodly hot where I am and my kids are crying every night because they can't handle the heat. Our food is going bad, and we have reptiles that need electricity to power their heat lamps that keep them ALIVE. We can't wait four days for this problem to be fixed. We paid the bill right after they shut it off. This whole making us wait FOUR [censored]ING DAYS for power is [censored]ed up and the people working this company suck.

Desired outcome: We can't wait that long for power to be turned back on. Start giving shut off warnings and stop making people wait four days for power. This is beyond [censored]ed up.

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Billing for electrical service

We have never had an electrical bill of over one thousand dollars and we have tried very hard to get a rational explanation from various sources.

We have talked to four NYSEG representatives about our [protected] account. The first was very pleasant young man who tried to help us understand why our June 22, 2022 kwh/day figure was more than twice the average of similar bills from six years of our previous records. He decided that the best approach was to have a second reading of the meter. The second agent we spoke to had access to the second reading and suggested that the best explanation was that squatters had occupied our cottage while we were absent. The third representative passed us on to a supervisor who was unable to explain why we had not received an April billing, which was the common billing method since we bought the cottage in 1980.

When I suggested that we were unable to pay the $1,125.03 bill at this time she worked out a method for me to pay the bill over a number of months. It was my understanding that she would send me an agreement that would explain this extended method of payment. We have not received any information about how we should proceed with the payment.

We have asked for advice about how to make sense of this extremely high bill and it was suggested that we seek a rational explanation from your office about why we did not receive a bill in April of 2022 and why the estimated bill we received on June 22, 2022 would show a usage of 6674 which is nearly two and a half times as much power as was used during a similar 180 day period over the past 6 years. If past history is used to estimate the usage then the figure should have been roughly 2,800 rather than 6674. It is extremely difficult to see how such an estimate could possibly be made and why such a shocking NYSEG bill was not received until June 22, 2022.

I have made an online payment of $272.29 which is an average of recent six years of bills that were previously received in April for this cottage account. It is clear that the $1,125.03 bill that I received on June 22, 2022 is more than four times the average reading of a similar period over the past six years. I intend to seek the assistance of the New York State Public Service Commission if your office is unable to provide a rational explanation of why the estimated April bill is so far out of line with our long experience with your company.

Desired outcome: Resolution and rational explanation

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] billing services

There was a mix up beginning of Dec 20,20 when I opened my small business. I was billed and paid each month promptly. However in June of this year 2022 I received a bill for over $1700. I called NYSEG and it was found that I had been billed for a different meter -not my own. NYSEG said they would credit my account for the $1000+ that I had paid on the incorrect meter. To date this has not been done and I am getting phone calls threating to turn off my electric and turn me over to collection. All I wanted was for the bill to be corrected and a payment plan set up so that I can continue with my business. What do I do? Any suggestions?

Desired outcome: I want the bill adjusted as promised and a easy payment plan set up so I can continue my business without being so overwhelmed with charges that it necessitates my closing the buiness.

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Unable to obtain new service

We are desperately trying to get new service but getting the needed paperwork from NYSEG is impossible. We received a letter explaining that in order to move forward they need 1) customer payment 2) easement signed 3) inspection

I finally got them to send a bill so I can pay…that only took 3 weeks. The easement form was never sent to the adjoining property owner and although it clearly states in their letter that it’s my responsibility to get this form signed they won’t send it to me. They say they can’t send it to a 3rd party. How am I a third party? I’m the one trying to get service. They say they can only send it to the adjoining property owner who has given them his email and mailing addresses and 3 weeks later he has not received it. I was hoping they could send to me and I will make sure he gets it and signs it. But no, they won’t do that.

So, my hands are tied.

This is so frustrating.

Desired outcome: I’d like to actually get electric service. But if NYSEG won’t send the paperwork that needs to be completed then we it will never happen.

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] Reattachment of wires to my house after last big storm. Please fix correctly and so they are safe.

I need my wires safely reattached to the house as they belong. The slack was never taken out between the last two poles and someone has thin wire holding it to my house. It is dangerous and embarrassing to have it cobbled like that. It was the storm when you had other companies come help a month or two ago. Please fix it right! Thank you, Russel Berkeley...439Ideuma road, Unadilla, NY 13849...[protected]

New York State Electric & Gas [NYSEG] New service connection

I have been trying to have new electric service installed at a rural site in Chemung County since January 2022. My obligations being load sheets, deposit, etc have been complete since March 4. It is now June and I have yet to hear from anyone. The only correspondence with NYSEG is when I call their customer service number. This is completely unacceptable. I am retired and purchased this property in order to enjoy camping with my RV. I have medical needs that require electric service. I only need service for an RV hook up. Why is my project being held up in the engineering department into it's fourth month?

Desired outcome: Schedule field visit
