After my last experience with the Massage Envy in Waldorf, Maryland, I will never go to any Massage Envy business again. They are actually an anti-white business! I know most people are racist towards people of color and I am not condoning that in any way, but frankly I am completely shocked at the racist behavior in this business.
When you first get there you will be welcomed politely by the staff, but as soon as they get your money they turn nasty and will continually ask for you to give a tip. I said would leave one in the room after I finished, but they ignored that and charged a tip to my credit card! My credit card company is fighting them and getting me a refund, but still, I they shouldn’t have to do this!
While I was in the waiting room I overheard the staff treating a black man and never once did they ask for a tip. They were all politeness. But did I receive the same treatment? No! The manager there is also a black man and he seems to encourage this sort of racist behavior. I do not condone racism of any sort and I simply cannot believe they get away with it here.
If you are looking for equality, fairness, and a overall pleasing massage experience, do not go to Massage Envy!
employment
I know what u mean. I've worked for several ME here in Georgia and the most recent one was the Howell Mill location. When i first got hired there Dr. Greco the owner of the franchise said "stand up and introduce yourselves ###" in a joking way but come to find out we really were his ###. They give us no time inbetween clients there to even use the restroom let alone fart. We had to either wash, sweep, or do some kind of chore every day. We had to stay out entire shift even if we didn't have a client. Last but not least i got fired because we didn't get payed on payday "black friday". BE AWARE OF AT WILL STATES
P.S. f*** massage envy with a broom stick

If you're looking for a job at Massage Envy, I highly suggest looking elsewhere. The owner of Massage Envy in Vadnais Heights over works you and under pays you and refuse to offer any benefits. The owner is very passively aggressive and instead of telling you directly that she's not going to do it, she tells you she will and then have the manager tell you no. I don't suggest working there unless you want to be dissappointed. I'm not the only one. A few of my coworkers and I have quit because we were unhappy with how she was treating us. The atmosphere when you first walk in is just negative.
I miss you, i know who this is and that was wrong.
The ME in Pensacola is a horrible place too. The manager steals our tips and has the rooms so hot where we sweat the whole time and some of us get sick cause he doesn't want to lower the temperature since it costs a little more. We're over worked also.
total lack of regard for 'patient' needs
I had been working very long hours at my DC job to include some strenuous military exercises for a few weeks and I felt the need to finally go get a massage the next day. I call on a Thursday for an appointment on Friday (I had Friday off). I specified initially 'I need an appointment for tomorrow.' I also stated i don't like oil or lotion, there is a type of massage for that..but couldn't remember its name. I said "John did it last time." The girl on the other end said ok, he has an opening at 4pm. I thought that a bit odd, but again it was a Friday appointment, guess he's busy. I showed up Friday just before 4pm, and the girl tells me "Oh no, your appointment was yesterday." The Body builder woman next to her litterally laughed at me because I said, "Are you serious?" The first girl said, I booked your appointment and that was for yesterday. I was confused, because I had specifically requested Friday..was today not Friday? Yes it was. Yesterday was Thursday, when i had to work. Why would I request a day I had to work..and I worked late mind you. She said she "didn't remember me asking for Friday." She even looked up in the computer to see that my "partial payment had gone through because I was a no show.." I have a contract with these people for 12 months. What she saw was probably my contract payment which is less because it's under a contract % reduction. But here's the thing, if you people can't get a request right over the phone and then treat your customer like crap when they come in, how do you expect anyone to keep coming back? The manager was not in the store, even when i called back several times over several days. I never heard back from anyone there about an appology as to how I was treated and the ignorance of their staff. Don't get the 12month contract and be stuck paying them like i am, and i never want to go to a massage envy ever again. No matter where the location. I can't break my contract with them but they are certainly getting my money for the next few more months. DON"T GO THERE!

misinformation &
I opened a membership for my husband over the phone almost 2 years ago. I did not receive a contract nor did I physically see or sign one (didn't know there was one). Last May, I pulled up the Massage Envy website to find information on canceling the membership but there was no information so I called the Massage Envy in Cumming for more information. The lady that answered said that there was a 30 day notice, she had canceled it but I would be billed one more time for June and his membership would expire June 28, 2011. I continued to be billed in July & August so I called the location a second time but this time was told that cancellations must be done in person by filling out a cancellation form. Since I pass this location twice a day on my way to & from work, that was not an issue. However when I went up there, I was advised that they would not refund me for the 2 months they incorrectly charged me due to the misinformation I had been given on my call in May. I went to the location that day & signed a cancellation form to stop future drafts noting the cancellation form that I had canceled in May. Basically I feel that I'm out $100 because their employees can't provide accurate information!

racist/ anti-white business
I will never step foot into this or any other Massage Envys local to the Waldorf MD area. I am shocked at the racist, anti-white business they run. You are welcomed by staff that treat you politely till they get your money then they treat you poorly and repeatedly ask for you tip before hand and if you say you will leave it in the room after they pretend not tO hear you and still take money off your credit card every stinkin time. While waiing I could over hear how they treated other blacks like themself, they treated them great never asked for tips before and we tip 30% which I think is pretty good. The manager, a black guy stands and stares pushing the employees to continue this racist behavior. Where is the Equality? And Fairness? Not there!
By the way most credit card companies will fighting it out with them overcharging like mine has, refunding my money to me, which I missed the first few charges from there. Also FCC.gov likes to know how consumers are being treated by businesses.

misleading
I paid monthly for a one year contract. I had up graded each month for a facial. I soon realized that there services were not as I had expected. One month prior to my one year anniversary - I cancelled my membership - following all the rules. I had one pre-paid service left. Now, I called for my pre-paid service and I am told that I had 30 days to use it. I have now lost that service that I paid for. I asked for a supervisor or someone other than a clerk to help me solve this but they suggested I go to the website - which - the website suggest that I go to the individual Massage Envy. So run-around. I did not like the caliber of people working there and I would not suggest joining Massage Envy.

misleading information
In February I went in for an introductory $39.00 massage. After the massage, I was greeted with a high pressure sales pitch on becoming a Massage Envy member. At first I said no and told her that a year was to long of a duration for me and that I wont use massages each and every month. She then told me that a Health Savings Account, in which I have would...

I went to Massage Envy in Gig Harbor, Washington. What a terrible experience. I was given incorrect directions which made me 7 minutes late for a booked, hour and a half appointment. I was informed that I would only be getting an hour and 15 minutes because I was late, but I would be paying for the full hour and one half. I complained that I was late because I was given the wrong directions and was told that’s too bad. I wound up getting a one hour massage that was poorly performed. She didn’t adjust the head rest, she forgot to do my left hand, and neck and knew nothing about how to massage feet. I will NEVER go there or any Massage Envy ever!
membership scam & pitiful customer service
And yet another complaint against Massage Envy...they just don't get it, they don't respond, they don't try to improve, they don't care! Where do I start...I sign up for a membership and completed my 1 year contract. I attempted to cancel, but was talked into putting on vacation status, it started up again in six months. After another year I I lost my job...

The owner of the coral gables branch, Mrs. Gonzalez, has advised the employees to tell customers conflicting contract policies. The staff has misrepresented the terms of the contract as a bait and switch tactic. Myself and my colleague have been told we can freeze and unfreeze our account as we like, however, after I froze my account and tried to unfreeze it, I was told that I could not unfreeze my account without paying an additional month and I'd have to wait another 30 days before I can freeze my account. I have six unused massages after my 1 year contract has ended and I am unable to cancel my membership without using the six massages or else I lose out on the six massages, which is actually a $300 loss. What is upsetting is that the staff at this branch is telling customers that they can do one thing and then you can't. They lie to your face and then retract on their word as a ploy to steal money from you. I advise anyone to stay away from this location.

The owner of the Massage Walmart (envy) locations in Oklahoma City, OK has been acussed of sexual harassment by a female massage therapist. Also, several other female Licensed Massage Therapists have disclosed that the boss had made passes at them, crossed their boundaries and was inappropriate on several occasions. Thus this boss/owner is a slimy and scuzzy person to work for.
Please go to Elements Therapeutic Massage or another massage therapy establishment in Oklahoma particularly and especially in OKC. I use to work at massage walmart and am happy that I no longer work there and happy I no longer work for him.

MassageEnvy - a massage spa that provides a discount rate for monthly massages with a one-year minimum membership. If you decide to cancel, please be aware that you must give 30 days notice in writing and your membership continues during that time. So basically you need to visit the MassageEnvy spa exactly 30 days before the end of your membership or otherwise you get charged another monthly credit. In addition, if you have unused massage credits they will expire at the end of the membership and are not-refundable. Therefore you must use them within that 30 day cancellation window or they are lost.

poor service
Misleading information. I signed up for the introductory massage to take my husband for Fathers Day. WAe signed up for a one hour massage and was told to arrive at 5:45 to fill out paper work and our massage started at 6pm. We arrived at 5:55 due to the google map gave us wrong directions. The staff greeted us nicely and quickly gave us a 30 second tour put us in the quiet room to fill out our paper work. At approx 6:15 our therpist came to greet us and took us to the couples room. I specifically asked for a female therapist and received a male therapist. When the massage finally started the therapist asked us if we wanted to upgrade. I was like upgrade what? Noone had even went over what upgrades where. I went ahead and upgraded to an aromatherapy deep tissue massage. Approx 6:20 was when our massage started and at 6:55 we were informed that our massage was complete and to get dressed. So, ok we payed for a one hour massage and received a 35 minute massage. I payed for the services and of couse they wanted me to sign a contract, which I did not do. As we were getting into our car the front staff girl ran to our car to tell us that she forgot to charge us the additional 20 dollars for the upgrade and proceeded to collect the 20 dollars in the parking lot. Over all I was extremely disappointed in this experience and will by no means EVER recommend this facility to anyone nor will I ever return for ANY services! Please be aware that you don't get what you pay for at this facility.

I am a member and received rude service from an employee at the Lake Grove NY location. I was given the email of the franchisee who also is the franchisee of the Commack NY location. I was told this was the definate way to get a response. I never received any response. Massage Envy locks you in a contract for a year with poor service and over priced massages and forgets you. My advice for anyone looking for a masage is to go somewhere else, better Massage places exist. Im sorry I signed on for the year but when the year is up I will take my buisness somewhere else. BEWARE.

As someone in the idustry i think common sense should tell you that. I understand its a service based industry, but the world doesnt revolve around you and when you show up late it does effect everyone else behind you its on you. Also techinical a hour "appointment" is actually 50 mins of massage time. unless it clearly states 1hr massage you need to ask more questions about your own service and understand that making everyone else wait because you didnt get their on time is just stupid.
I agree you were short changed on your massage for reasons out of your control (wrong directions via google)
However, you were late and if they had that person booked after you (which they usually have there therapist doing) then the next person would have been late - and person after that and so on if everyone was to get their full time - I do not personally know about Massage Envy as I have never been there - but if you are late - it is expected (or should be) that your appointment would be shortened as a result as to do less would effect anyone after you. I do not feel you were put out - but I do think they should have told you upfront that your appointment would be shorten as a result - for that Massage Envy failed you.
I agree, its not typically that bad, but an hour massage is typically 45min total ###.
rip off
Given a gift card, went to use first visit for facial. Service was just Ok, steamer was broken, wish they had told me before hand as I would have rescheduled. Went back for what I thought was the other half of the gift card, only to come out owing 93.00. I was like, wth and was informed I am not a member, first visit was discounted to "get me in the door"...

I bought a 6 spa treatment package with a 6 month period in Nov 2010 as a xmas gift. Since the treatments would not be used till after xmas, ie Jan 2011, I asked for confirmation that the 6 month period start in Jan 2011 and notwhen I was buying the package. The sales staff at the counter confirmed this was the case. However come May 2011, Massage Envy, refused to honor this Jan 2011 committment. We are cheated out of 2 spa treatments. I find that Massage envy are more interested in service upgrades and service contract extensions than in customer service.

cares only about $
Recently I had to cancel an appointment with Massage Envy - due to an unexpected personal matter, which unfortunately arose 2 hours before my appointment.
I explained to the Salon manager the reason why I had to cancel, only then to be informed that there is a 50% cancellation fee. I asked if rescheduling my appointment would avoid being charged this fee - but was told it is "policy".
May I say that I was never made aware of this "policy" and I will no longer support Massage Envy.
I have been a member of other massage salons and have NEVER experienced any type of "policy", and will renew my membership with Joseph Christopher Salon TODAY.
It states in the agreement that you signed, 3rd paragraph that you initial, a same day cancel is a 50% charge a no show is a 100% charge. Unfortunately, yes that is their policy as it is put in the agreement, that they make every member acknowledge with their initials. It is understandable why you would be upset because your paying for a service you did not receive, however, the cancellation policy is put in place because Massage envy is holding a time for you. Which means anyone else that calls to book an appointment cannot get that time because it is unavailable. Then when you call same day to cancel (emergency or not) that Therapist is still there and in turn gets screwed by not getting paid for that hour. If it was in face an emergency situation you should have some documentation, bring that into the clinic and the manager -i would think- would work with you.

STAY FAR AWAY!! After one massage, the staff coerced my daughter into entering a 'contract' in which she pays $50 a month for one year... getting one massage per month. After being told otherwise upon signing, she attempted to ask staff to disengage from membership due to loss of a job. They refuse to do so and continue to deduct $50 per month from her...

I was a member since the around/approx Dec 2010, and I decided to end my membership based on a few things. 1 - the staff over time made a turn for the worst, 2- the therapists were alittle too friendly - if you know what I mean, and 3 - I am a very direct person, and if someone steps out of line - I will say something. And when I did, they blamed me for all...

Have had a wonderful experience until now! A few weeks ago I left my (awesome) therapist a much larger tip than usual only to find out that she never received it. I spoke to the owner and he said it wasn't his responsibility to make up for it - "it's not my policy" he claimed. I then asked why there was no disclaimer in my contract stating that massage envy was not responsible for making sure therapists received all tips that are handled by the front desk. His response -" well I'm not going to give her the 75$". So I said well then I'm canceling my contract and my mother will be here tomorrow to cancel hers and I'm going to start letting people know about "your policy". At this point the owner, Larry Ferguson literally through a childlike tantrum, yelling at me and stormed out of the room. I've never heard of any business owner conducting things this way!

Hmmm, this is interesting since this company is still fairly new out here in California and most areas. Most likely they are getting people with no experience, or even trained in the business. I am a Clinical Massage Therapist myself and I am always interested
in what others have to say about their experience.. Sorry to hear that this kind of thing happens...they need to screen their staff, hire trained people who know what they are doing, and how to treat
the public in a public place...
