Lloyds bank made life HELL, turned it upside down
I am very, very upset. They ASSUMED I was being scammed so blocked my Debit & Credit cards, suspended my online App. access, stopped transferring money to family & paying in option, closed the nearest branch and expect me to travel 5.5 miles to transact with No car
only bus and I retired pensioner.
In Nov./Dec/ 2025, I was trying to purchase Crypto USDT from Binance via my Lloyds Bank debit card. I was not able to but. Bank blocked buying crypto.
I then rang complained and was put through to their Fraud Team. A man named Gavin told me he 'THINKS' I might be being scammed.
I asked if he had any proof or evidence? he said NO.
I was very angry as I was NOT being scammed.
he then blocked use of my debit card completely 100%. I complained again to lloyds & they found Gavin had done made a gross mistake and should NOT have blocked my debit card so Lloyds agreed to compensate me with £300 after admitting it was their fault.
Since then - I was subjected to further harassment.
I could not use my debit card at times so I kept calling them & they re-instated my debit card and when i tried to pay in £21 even this was rejected - - machine showed my card was 'INVALID'
They then suspended my Online App. Access completely - showed a freephone number to call - I called & was advised to produce my IDENTITY at the nearest Branch.
Lloyds and Halifax (both same group of companies) BOTH branches in Palmers Green have been closed down. Nearest Halifax branch is 4 miles away. Nearest Lloyds is 5.5 miles away.
Lloyds advised me if I need to transfer any money to anyone including my very seriously mother, I had to go to the Lloyds branch and withdraw out cash and then transfer by going to another bank etc
I do NOT have a car and I am nearly 70 years old.
I cannot travel so far as it entails a 3 hours round trip and 1 mile of walking every time I need withdraw money out and my 3 pensions were all going into Lloyds.
They then asked me to call them - when i did they told me I have to provide PROOF of My Identity of who I am = passport/driving license etc.
I travelled to Halifax 4 miles away & produced my identity. Whilst I was waiting for the girl to come back my daughter rang me told me The Police had called her trying to find me. Asked why? She said they wanted to interview me.
When she told the police I was in Halifax branch in Southgate, London, the 2 policemen drove up to the branch and I was SHOCKED when they approached me and full of sheer embarrassment as everyone all customers started looking at me in horror as I got ushered away into a room where I was interview fo9r 40 mins.
I looked like a CRIMINAL to everyone.
Oh My God = I have been a VERY LOYAL Lloyds Bank customer for over 50 years and NEVER done anything wrong and and now and being treated like a CRIMINAL.
The whole situation became worse. They blocked my Mastercard - twice I was unable to buy food in Sainsbury's.
I made 4 complaints to Lloyds bank as I am 100% INNOCENT and yet just because Mr. Gavin thinks and has NO( proof the bank are acting this way against me!
I am so very deeply upset.
I also just heard from Lloyds Bank 3 days ago via a Text they are CLOSING my Account in 2 months time.
To my horror I cannot log in to view any information about any direct debits, NO statement access, NO ability to make any transfers and what gets me the most is = they STOOPED SO LOW OF STOPPING ALL TRANSFERS to MY FAMILY MEMBERS...!
Why? Am I buying Crypt from my Family?
What if my severely ill seriously ill Mum needs money transferred to her?
She had Stage 3.5 Lymphoma Cancer, Severe Asthma, Severe Arthritis, Has had a major heart operation & and a major back operation on her back bone & is currently suffering from 3 broken vertebrae and has to put up with extreme pain. She cannot stand up for more than a few mins. She has to use a walking stick. She has Blood Pressure problems & her heart rate very erratic as she has been told she has a weak heart. She lives in constant pain and we do all her shopping and help her. She needs money for care and other helpful aids.
IF I cannot transfer money to my family what good is that?
WHY stop this personal transfers? At one stage I was unable to make a personal transfer to my wife. Mr Gavin did it but I could NOT.
The Newest latest problem now is - I owe £2,950 in my current account and £2,760 in my Mastercard BUT = the latest NEW PROBLEM is
I CANNOT pay IN to Lloyds Bank any payments because they have suspended my account. I cannot log in & none of my 2 cards work.
So = HOW AM I SUPPOSED to MAKE PAYMENTS IN?
I asked them this = they told me - You have to go to the nearest Lloyds Bank and deposit money in at that branch to make the monthly direct debit payment to reduce the current acct and the Mastercard acct!
WHAT...?
Are they serious?
This is beyond belief and comprehension how I am being treated and ALL BECAUSE MR GAVIN IN THEIR FRAUD TEAM = 'THINKS' I am being scammed and HAS NO ACTUAL PROOF?

Over 50 years of being a Loyal Customer and they have given me a total breakdown.

I am seeking compensation for all the grief they have caused me & ALL of is = UNNECESSARILY .

Please some help me? I will file a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman as well later.

Claimed loss: £5,000-00 Compensation for all the grief caused to me NO reason whatsoever as I am 100% innocent of any blame or fault.

Desired outcome: Re-instate my Account
