I went to Les Schwab for an oil/tire change and after paying them around 1200, they brought my car back to me with the check engine light on. Told them about it, and after approx. 4 hours of them trying to figure it out, they gave it back to me, sending me to a mechanic to diagnose, saying they will pay. Got to the mechanic, and they would not pay. They just wanted me out of their shop. Ended up at Ford where they finally told me the issue which is 4500. to fix. I am not kidding. After extensive back and forth with Les Schwab and filing a claim, I have yet to talk with an adjuster. They are refusing to pay, take responsibility, hand over video or documentation, and will not tell me what happened. Because they can. I am stuck with a 4500. repair bill and no car. If you add in the nightmarish oil change and tires I cannot use, it is more than the car is worth. This is Les Schwab on Francis in Spokane Wa DONOT GO THERE! DONOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR VEHICLE.
Claimed loss: 4500.
Desired outcome: Les Schwab is at this point ghosting me. They will not pay a dime nor tell me why my car has now got engine issues.

That is a nightmare and you are not overreacting. Start a paper trail immediately. Send a certified letter to Les Schwab's corporate headquarters detailing the timeline, the $4500 Ford diagnosis, and their refusal to cooperate. Also, file a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's Office and the Department of Licensing, which regulates auto repair shops. If they have video, they are required to preserve it once a claim is filed. Finally, take them to small claims court, the limit in Washington is $10,000 and you have a strong case with Ford's written diagnosis. Do not let them wear you down.
