Kings Refrigeration came to our place in spring 2021 to put in a heat pump for our house renovation. The house is pretty new, only 450 sq ft, and we made sure to insulate it real good with spray foam from top to bottom. We also got these fancy high-performance windows. So, Kings went ahead and installed a ducted mini split system during the summer. But let me tell you, it didn't do squat when it came to cooling. The house was like an oven during the summer, and we couldn't even sleep at night unless we left the doors wide open. The cooling thingamajig didn't bring down the temperature at all, and it never got cooler than the outside. And boy, did it get hot at night! We had the setting on cool all the time, but the house stayed hot as heck throughout the whole summer, even when it got cooler outside at night. Kings tried to fix it by messing around with their system over the next few months, but nothing changed. They made adjustments, but it still didn't work any better. Then, in October, we had to bring in an engineering team to do a Heat Plan for the house. They looked at all the numbers and stuff and figured out that the system Kings installed was way too big for our little house. They said we needed a smaller unit to get better airflow and performance. But even with a smaller unit, it wouldn't work right 'cause our house just ain't set up for a big ol' unit like that. So now, we want Kings to take out the useless unit they put in and give us back all the money we paid them, which was a whopping $9,700.83. We might be willing to keep some of the stuff they used, like the duct work, if we can agree on a price. But we definitely want most of our money back. We got all the timeline, invoices, and numbers to prove it, so they better do right by us.
